RAPID CITY - Ordell P. Gluhm, Rapid City and formerly of Hot Springs, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Gluhm, Rapid City.

Arrangements are pending with Rooks-McColley Funeral Chapel of Hot Springs.

Theodore Evans

HOT SPRINGS - Theodore Evans, 80, Hot Springs, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at his home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

Rooks-McColley Funeral Chapel of Hot Springs is in charge of arrangements.

Nida Helen Snoozy

NEWELL - Nida Helen Snoozy, 83, Newell, S.D., died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at the Wesleyan Health Care Center in Rapid City.

Visitation will be Friday from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel and on Saturday, one hour prior to the services at the church in Newell.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 16, 2002, at 1:30 p.m. at the Independent Congregational Church in Newell, with Pastor Melvyn Dietz officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche.

Nida was born November 9, 1918, near Govert, S.D., to Bill and Lora (Giese) Hafner. She grew up at Govert near Slim Buttes. Nida graduated from Newell High School in 1936. She received her teaching certificate from Greeley, Colo. She taught in rural schools at Slim Buttes, Redig, Reva and Govert.

Nida married Harold R. Snoozy on November 29, 1941, at Sturgis. They farmed and ranched in the Redig and Govert area before they moved to Belle Fourche. In 1955, they moved to the Newell area, where they farmed 40 years.

Nida continued her schooling at Black Hills Teachers College. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1974. She taught in Newell Junior High for many years. She retired from teaching in 1977.

Harold and Nida retired from farming in 1995 and moved to Newell. Harold passed away in 1996. Nida resided at the Elkhorn Elderly in Belle Fourche for two years before moving to the Wesleyan Health Care Center a year ago.

Nida was a member of the Independent Congregational Church, Eastern Star, Polyanna Club and Neighborhood Club.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Larry and Kandee Snoozy, Rapid City, and Bob and Teresa Snoozy, Omaha, Neb.; one daughter, Laurel Grove, Rapid City; two granddaughters and husbands, Kari and Ron Remm, Omaha, Neb., and Melanie and Bryan Krauter, Rapid City; four grandsons, Scott Snoozy, Lincoln, Neb., Mark Snoozy, Long Beach, N.Y., Brian Munsell, Spearfish, and Tom Grove, Rapid City; and six great-grandchildren, Aerika and Sydney Krauter, Rapid City, and Morgan, Brianna, Caden and Colton Remm, Omaha, Neb.

Her parents; her two young brothers, George and William; and her husband preceded her in death.

A memorial has been established to Independent Congregational Church in Newell.

Everett Johnson

RAPID CITY - Everett Johnson, 55, Rapid City, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at his home.

Survivors include his father, Everett Clinton Johnson, Wyoming, and one sister, Leona Dorcheus, Rockport, Texas.

Private burial services were Wednesday, March 13, at Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City.

Kirk Funeral Home of Rapid City was in charge of arrangements.

Violet Marie LaPorte

BEDFORD, Texas - Violet Marie LaPorte, 76, Bedford, Texas, formerly of Sturgis, died Monday, March 11, 2002, in Bedford.

She was born January 24, 1926, at Lead, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Matulovich. She was married to John LaPorte, who died in 1989, and they lived in Sturgis. She later moved to Bedford, Texas, where she was an active member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.

Surviving are her daughters, Barbara LaPorte, Mary Konosky and husband Carl, Laura LaPorte, Spearfish, Teresa LaPorte, Margaret Selch and husband Kurt, Bedford, Texas; two sons, James LaPorte and Robert LaPorte; one sister, Evelyn Rogers; three grandchildren, Andrew, John and Carl Konosky; and her beloved friends at St. Michael's.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Diana LaPorte; a grandson, Lucus Finn; and a brother, Frank Matulovich.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 15, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Bedford, Texas. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 18, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with Rev. Matt Fallgren officiating. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society, 3301 W. Freeway, Fort Worth, TX 76107.

Local arrangements are with Osheim-Catron Funeral Home, Rapid City.

Marjorie E. Dunlap

BLACK HAWK - Marjorie E. Dunlap, 67, Black Hawk, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at her home.

She was born to Morgan Williams and Julia (Glumsaus) Williams on October 20, 1934, in Chamberlain, S.D. She was also raised in Chamberlain, attended and graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1953 and worked at the phone company in Chamberlain. She married Delmer Rossman on October 3, 1953, and they lived in Pukwana, S.D.

She moved to Rapid City in 1973. She was a hostess at various restaurants and clubs. In 1977, she managed Aunt Penny Potter's Ceramics, later purchased it and changed the name to Creation by Penny until 1987, when she retired and worked selling sewing machines at So Fro Fabrics.

She married Allen Dunlap on July 27, 1978, in Custer, S.D.

She was a 4-H leader in Pukwana, a member of American Legion Auxiliary in Pukwana, and Central States Fair superintendent at the Ceramic Building for several years.

She is survived by her husband, Allen Dunlap of Black Hawk; three sons, Terry Rossman of Piedmont, S.D., Thomas Dunlap of Laverne, Calif., and Gene Rossman of Rapid City, S.D.; three daughters, Becky Dunnihoo and husband Jeff of Rapid City, S.D., Teresa Neisent and husband Rod of Rapid City, S.D., and Brenda Pitsor and husband Kevin of Black Hawk, S.D.; 12 grandchildren, Craig Rossman, Eric Neisent and wife, Danielle, Amber Rossman, Bradley Dunlap, Bret Rossman, Brian Dunlap, Ronnie Pitsor, Sara Dunnihoo, Casey Pitsor, Lucas Dunnihoo, Justin Neisent and Chance Dunnihoo; three great-grandchildren, Rileigh Niesent, Hailey Ogle and Nicholas Neisent; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by one brother, Howard and his wife Elsie Williams of Rapid City, S.D.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Julieanne Creamer.

Memorial services will be Friday, March 15, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Behrens Mortuary, with the Reverend Bruce Baum officiating.

Behrens Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy L. Curtis Thompson

SUN CITY, Ariz. - Dorothy L. Curtis Thompson was born to Asa and Jessie Bridenstine in Terry, Montana, November 23, 1916. She graduated from Deadwood High School in 1933 and completed nurse's training at St. John's Hospital in Rapid City, South Dakota. Dorothy married Richard A. Curtis and was the mother of four children, David - now deceased - twin daughters, Sara Shryock and Susan Aurich, both of Surprise, Arizona, and son Lee of Lexington, Kentucky. She has 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of the Order of Eastern Star, Past Matron and Past Grand Officer. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 16, 2002, at 2 p.m. at United Church of Sun City, 11250 N. 107th Ave., Sun City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, 8125 N. 23rd Ave., No. 222, Phoenix, AZ 85021. Arrangements made by Sunwest Funeral Home.

Anna Whitman

NEWCASTLE, Wyo. - Anna Whitman, 97, Newcastle, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at Weston Manor Nursing Home in Newcastle.

Survivors include one son, Mike Whitman, Lafayette, Colo.; one daughter, Joyce Benz, Osage, Wyo.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband, C.F. "Bo" Whitman, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 15, at Worden Chapel, with the Rev. Robert Firebaugh officiating.

Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newcastle.

Memorials may be made to Michael's Senior Center or Weston Manor Nursing Home.

Dorothea K. Beach

BLACK HAWK - Dorothea K. Beach, 69, Black Hawk, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at her home.

Survivors include two sons, William Beach, Phoenix, and Joseph Beach, Black Hawk; two sisters, Betty Ebsen, Pipestone, Minn., and Darlene Corodo, Oshkosh, Calif.; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Her husband, William Beach, preceded her in death.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 15, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with the Rev. Bill Zandri officiating.

Carlsen & Aldinger Funeral Home of Sturgis is in charge of arrangements.

Joan Hanson

STURGIS - Joan Hanson, 64, Sturgis, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at her home.

Survivors include her mother, Emma Johnson, Litchfield, Minn.; two sons, Michael Hanson, Atlanta, and Eric Hanson, Spearfish; two daughters, Cathy Hanson, Delano, Minn., and Susan Regan, Sturgis; two brothers, Jerry Manning, Litchfield, and John Manning, Chippewa Falls, Wis.; and eight grandchildren.

Her husband, John Hanson, preceded her in death.

Closed-casket visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 15, at Grace Lutheran Church in Sturgis, with the Rev. Randy Fett officiating.

Burial will follow at Piedmont Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.

Lillie Butt

PRESHO - Lillie Butt, 92, Presho, died Monday, March 11, 2002, at Mid-Dakota Hospital in Chamberlain.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Butt, Presho, and Norman Butt, Brighton, Colo.; one daughter, Nona Olson, Platte; two brothers, Alvin Monson, Mission Hill, and Carl Monson, Albany, Ore.; one sister, Bertha Brinker, Chamberlain; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Her husband, Dale Butt, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Isburg-Hofmeister Funeral Chapel in Presho.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 15, at United Methodist Church in Presho.

Burial will be at Presho City Cemetery.

Reginald R. Oakley

BELLE FOURCHE - Reginald R. Oakley, 84, Belle Fourche and formerly of Newell, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at Belle Fourche Long Term Care Center.

Survivors include a special friend, Beverly Ottema, Newell.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. today at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 15, at Assembly of God Church in Newell, with the Rev. Barry Noor officiating.

Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

Carmel M. Sweeney

RAPID CITY - Carmel M. Sweeney, 84, Rapid City, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at a local nursing home.

Survivors include her husband, John F. Sweeney, Rapid City; one daughter, Mary Gabbert, Meadow; and one brother, John Sweeney, Carroll, Iowa.

Arrangements are pending with Behrens Mortuary of Rapid City.

Edith M. Bulgier

RAPID CITY - Edith M. Bulgier, 73, Rapid City, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at her home.

She is survived by four sons, including John Bulgier, Rapid City, and one daughter, Virginia Robinson, Rapid City.

No local services will be held. Inurnment will be at a later date in Texas.

Osheim-Catron Funeral Home of Rapid City is in charge of arrangements.
