Silvin J. Mulloy

KEYSTONE - Silvin J. Mulloy, 81, Keystone, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at Westview Health Care Center in Sheridan, Wyo.

Survivors include his wife, Amelia Mulloy, Keystone; two daughters, Roxan Mulloy, Bismarck, N.D., and Madonna Jackson, Sheridan; two sons, Colin Mulloy, Fort Smith, Ark., and the Rev. Michel Mulloy, Rapid City; four stepchildren, MaryLee Smith, Rapid City, CariDee Foley, Watertown, and LaVeta Giannonatti and Bernard Cordes, both of Keystone; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Delores Remsin, Ontario, Ore.; and two brothers, Charles Mulloy, Keystone, and Cletus Mulloy, Mobridge.

His first wife, Ethel Haack Mulloy, preceded him in death.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at Osheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City.

A Christian wake service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Church in Rapid City.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at noon Friday, March 15, at Blessed Sacrament Church, with the Rev. Blase Cupich officiating.

Burial with military honors will be at noon Saturday, March 16, at Isabel Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to Western South Dakota Catholic Foundation.

John D. Brotsky

LEAD - John D. Brotsky, 48, Lead, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at Northern Hills General Hospital in Deadwood.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Brotsky, Lead, and one son, Cody Brotsky, Lead.

A Christian wake and rosary service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lead.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. William Zandri officiating.

Inurnment will be at a later time.

Chaput Memorial Chapel of Lead is in charge of arrangements.

Michael Gabriel Peltier-Randall

HOT SPRINGS - Michael Gabriel Peltier-Randall, firstborn son of Leroy and Jolene, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at Rooks-McColley Funeral Chapel in Hot Springs, with Fr. Peter Kovarik officiating.

Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

Survivors include his father, Leroy Randall, and his mother, Jolene Peltier, both of Hot Springs; grandmother Theresa Randall of Hot Springs; grandfather Joseph Peltier of Devils Lake, N.D.; Auntie Jeanne Dahl of Hot Springs; Aunt Jean Marie Patton of Rapid City; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge.

Robert J. Maule

WINNER - Robert J. Maule, 73, Winner, died Sunday, March 10, 2002.

Survivors include his wife, Sherrilyn Maule, Winner; two daughters, Catherine Morgan, Altoona, Iowa, and Theresa Maule, Winner; and one granddaughter.

A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. today at Episcopal Church in Winner.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, at the church.

Kotrba Funeral Home of Gregory is in charge of arrangements.

Susan Rose Weisgram

JAVA — Susan Rose Weisgram, 58, Java, died Thursday, March 7, 2002, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, Tom Weisgram, Java; one son, Pat Weisgram, Aberdeen; seven brothers, Walt Darling, North Freedom, Wis., David Darling, Watertown, Steve Darling, Mark Darling, Roger Darling, and Paul Darling, all of Aberdeen, and Mike Darling, Deadwood; two sisters, Mary Weppener, Fort Collins, Colo., and Jeanette Buchele, Aberdeen; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, and for one hour before services Tuesday, March 12, at Miller Funeral Chapel in Selby. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 12, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Java, with the Rev. Del Neumeister officiating.

Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Miller Funeral Home in Bowdle is in charge of arrangements.

Leon E. Becket

RAPID CITY — Leon E. Becket, 81, Rapid City, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at Fort Meade Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Survivors include one brother, Neil Becket, Rapid City, and one sister, Elma Williamson, Rapid City.

Arrangements are pending with Osheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City.

Alan R. Dano

RAPID CITY — Alan R. Dano, 64, Rapid City, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at Fort Meade Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 3, 1937, at Watertown, S.D., the son of Russell T. and Sara J. (Hammer) Dano. He grew up in Tracy, and graduated from high school in Aberdeen. He then attended college in Forest Grove, Ore., and graduated with a degree in Optometry. In 1962, he married Sandra Sitter then served in the U.S. Air Force as a First Lieutenant and optometrist from August 1962 to August 1965. He then practiced Optometry in Aberdeen and Rapid City.

Surviving are a brother Lee E. Dano, Aberdeen; seven nieces; and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his wife in May 2001, one sister and one brother.

Graveside rites will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with Rev. H.B. Cleveland officiating.

Family and friends will meet at Osheim-Catron Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday to process to the cemetery.

Helen Cusher

REEDER, N.D. — Helen Cusher, 87, Reeder, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger.

Survivors include four sons, David Cusher, Reeder, Anthony Cusher, George Cusher and Joe Cusher, all of Fargo; one daughter, Kathleen Chapman, Battle Creek, Mich.; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a family prayer service at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, at Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Hettinger, and one hour before services at the church.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Reeder, with the Rev. Jerry Lee officiating.

Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Zela N. Cole

RAPID CITY — Zela N. Cole, 86, of Rapid City died Thursday, March 7, 2002, at a local nursing home.

Zela was born Aug. 4, 1915, near Durham, Okla., to Riley Earl and Gloxinia (Roach) Noblitt. She graduated from Miami Texas High School. Zela worked as a Sheriff's Deputy and a county tax recorder during and after World War II in Miami, Texas. She married Ralph S. Cole in Pampa, Texas, on Dec. 24, 1947. They moved to Rapid City in 1958 from Mobridge, S.D.

Zela was a member of the Church of Christ in Rapid City. She loved spending time with her family and being involved in her church.

She is survived by her son, Clint Ralph Cole of Chula Vista, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ralph, and sister, Crystal Tucker.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time on Wednesday, March 13, at Kirk Funeral Home.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home, with Charlie Tutor officiating.

Burial will be at Memory Garden Cemetery in Pampa, Texas.

Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City, S.D., and Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Inc. in Pampa, Texas, are in charge of the arrangements.

Robert Francis LaFleur

RAPID CITY — Robert Francis LaFleur, 79, of Rapid City, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at St. Joseph Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz.

He was born Oct. 5, 1922, in Bemidji, Minn., to Joseph Mitchell and Rose Ann (Peloquin) LaFleur. He served in the Army from Feb. 2, 1943, to March 19, 1946, when he was honorably discharged. He served in the 1296th Engineer Combat Battalion Company C as a Tech Five.

On Aug. 2, 1950, he married Avis Bergum in St. Paul, Minn. They moved to Rapid City in 1952. He attended Purdue University for a short time while serving in the Army. After his discharge, he attended the University of Minnesota and William Mitchell School of Law in St. Paul where he obtained his Juris Doctorate. After law school, he worked as an insurance adjuster until he began to practice law in 1960. He served as City Attorney and later as a Deputy State's Attorney. He was joined in the private practice of law by his son Mitch in 1980, and Jon in 1983, and continued to practice on a limited basis until his death.

He was a member of the South Dakota Bar Association and was admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of South Dakota, United States Federal District Court, United States Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He was a past member of the Board of Bar Commissioners for the State of South Dakota and past President of its Professional Liability Committee. He later became a founding Director of the Attorneys Liability Protection Society. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and a long-time supporter of the Boys Club and Boy Scout organization.

He enjoyed his golf, any activities that included his family (especially with his grandchildren), and any good political discussion. He was active in Little League Baseball and served as President of Harney Little League in 1966.

Survivors include three sons, Mitch and his wife, Maureen, their children Erin and Steve, Rapid City, Mark and his wife, Gay, and their children Mandy and JayDee, Hot Springs, Jon and his wife, Julie and their children Louis, Joseph, Logan and Jaden, Rapid City; one brother, Richard LaFleur and his wife, Angeline, Minneapolis, Minn.; and one sister, Martha Mae Nihart, Columbus, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Avis LaFleur, his sisters Edith Wholferd and Sister Marie Vianney (Jessica), brothers Emanuel LaFleur (Frenchy) and Maurice LaFleur (Red).

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, at Osheim-Catron Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Blessed Sacrament Church, with the Rev. Michel Mulloy presiding. Burial will be at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with military honors provided by Rushmore VFW Post 1273.

A memorial has been established to the South Dakota School of Law, Vermillion, S.D., and Blessed Sacrament Church.

William ‘Bill' Fairchilds

WEBB CITY, Mo. — William "Bill" Fairchilds, 74, Webb City and formerly of Rapid City, S.D., died Friday, March 8, 2002, at Missouri Rehabilitation Center.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene, Webb City; two sons, Kerry Ayers and Steven Trygstad, both of Oklahoma; one stepson, Daren Schultz of South Dakota; two stepdaughters, Carole Schultz, Webb City, and Sharon Coe of California; one brother, Harold Fairchilds of Alabama; two sisters, Adelia "Imogene" Fairchilds, Duenweg, and Ullamarion "Bea" Doyle, Joplin; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Wayne Porter officiating. Burial will be at Osborne Memorial Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Jewish Lung Research Center in care of the funeral home.

Alister ‘Buzz' Trager

RAPID CITY — Alister "Buzz" Trager, 73, of Rapid City, died Friday, March 8, 2002, at his home.

He was born July 27, 1928, in Morristown, S.D., to Henry and Robena (Colville) Trager. He attended public schools in McIntosh. He married Bessie Penrod and they had one son, George.

On July 22, 1947, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1950, and he enlisted in the United States Air Force that same year. He served in the Air Force the next 17 years, on bases in Nebraska, Texas and Morocco. While stationed in Morocco, he married Suzanne Simone Largesse on Oct. 23, 1957.

In 1967, he retired from the Air Force with an honorable discharge as a Staff Sergeant while stationed at RAF Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire County, England. He then worked with Lipton Products, Wiggins Teape, London Co-op and Atlas Handling in England until 1981, when he and Suzanne moved to Florida. Later that year they moved to Rapid City.

Buzz was an active member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, The Retired Enlisted Association, Forty and Eight and Moose Lodge.

Survivors include one son, George Roberts of St. Louis, Mo.; one grandson, Jonathon Roberts of St. Louis, Mo.; one brother, Robert Trager of Mobridge; numerous nieces and nephews; and three special friends, Sharon Tabler, Tom VonCollin and Marilyn DeWitt, all of Rapid City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Suzanne and two sisters, Margaret Lund of Mobridge and Vivian Main of Belle Fourche.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Behrens Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bruce Baum officiating. Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society.

Jean C. Singleton Larson

SPEARFISH — Jean C. Singleton Larson, 80, Spearfish, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at Beverly Health Care Center in Rapid City.

Survivors include her husband, Sam Larson, Spearfish; one son, Glen Singleton, Bothell, Wash.; one daughter, Judy Greslin, Sturgis; several stepchildren; one brother, Robert Daudel, Lakeland, Fla.; four grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Vernon Singleton.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at Fidler Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Spearfish, with the Rev. Gene Bauman officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.
