Funeral service for William E. "Bill" Becker age 85 of Wall were held 10:00 a.m. Monday Nov. 26, 2001 at the United Methodist Church in Wall with Pastor Jim Cissell officiating.
Bill died early Thursday morning at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City.
Visitation was held on Sunday Nov. 25, 2001 at the Rush Funeral Chapel in Wall from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 1 hour before the services at the church on Monday.
Interment was in the Wall cemetery.
William E. Becker, better known as Bill to his family and friends was born October 29, 1916 on his parents farm north of Wall, SD the son of Wilhelm (William) and Rosalie (Geigle) Becker.
He grew up on the farm and received his education in the Huron rural school in that area.
Bill was united in marriage to Irene Clink on April 8, 1944 at Rapid City, SD.
They made their home on the Becker farm north of Wall which they operated until retiring and moving into Wall in 1982.
He continued to reside in Wall until health reasons forced him into the Philip Nursing Home in July of 1999.
Bill was a member of the United Methodist Church of Wall and he had served on the Huron Township Board for several years.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Irene Becker of Wall; a daughter, Helen Crawford of Wall; one step-granddaughter and two step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephew .
Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

Mary Kathryn Pettyjohn was born August 29, 1932 in Ponca City, OK, the daughter of John and Hattie (Burk) Dunham. As a child she moved with her family to Wanblee, South Dakota.
She was married to Ted Pettyjohn on August 29, 1950 in Denver Colorado. Together they raised five children on their ranch south of Kadoka. Since 1983 they have lived near Custer. Mary enjoyed her work as a cook for the Kadoka Care Center and Pennington County Corrections Facilities. Her greatest joy in life was time spent with her children and grandchildren as well as the many youngsters who came to visit the ranch.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Ted Pettyjohn of Custer, three sons, Fred Pettyjohn of Kadoka, Ted Pettyjohn and his wife Laurie of Rapid City, Zane Pettyjohn and his wife Sharri of Kadoka; two daughters, Brenda Pettyjohn of Tucson, Arizona, and Jana Coller of Custer; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three brothers, Gene Dunham and his wife Donna of Grand Junction, Colorado, Wayne "Jim" Dunham of Newell, John Dunham and his wife Chris of Norris, South Dakota; four sisters, Pharabe Tipton of Wyandotte, Oklahoma, Wanda Mae Ellis and her husband Norman of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Ruth Ann Dunham and Beulah Dunham, both of Rapid City; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers,Henry Edward (in infancy) and Donald Dunham; and a great-granddaughter, Jaylee Dae Coller.
Funeral services for Mary K. Pettyjohn, age 69, of Custer were held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2001, at the Presbyterian Church in Kadoka, with Pastor Gary McCubbin officiating. Mary died Monday afternoon at Rapid City Regional Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Visitation was from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2001 at the Rush Funeral Chapel in Kadoka, and one hour preceding the services at the church on Saturday.
A luncheon for family and friends was held at the church preceding the service at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Following services, she was buried at the Frying Pan Ranch cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a contribution be made to a memorial established in her name to benefit patients and families receiving care at the Dialysis Unit at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Contributions to the memorial can be sent to 2348 Carter Dr., Rapid City,SD 57702.

Margaret C. Mikuska was born August 6, 1911 on the family farm at Tripp, South Dakota, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Cihak) Mikuska. She attended the country school and helped on the farm.
She was united in marriage to Harry Simek of Belvidere, South Dakota on June7, 1937 in Scotland, South Dakota. To this union was born a daughter, Josephine. They lived on the farm until 1972 when they retired and moved into Kadoka. Since October 1999, she has lived at the Kadoka Care Center.
Margaret enjoyed crafting of all kinds, making quilts, which she shared with family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially enjoyed the time spent with friends at the coffee shop and on the street. She spent many hours drawing and painting the many wood projects that Harry and she made.
Margaret was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Kadoka.
She is survived by one daughter, Josephine "JoAnn" Letellier and her husband Gale of rural Norris, South Dakota; four grandsons, Gary of rural Norris, Jerry of Rapid City, Daniel and his wife Dawn of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and David and his wife Coleen of Hulett, Wyoming; one sister, Helen Steiner of Parkston, South Dakota; seven great-grandchildren, Travis of Aberdeen, Chris of rural Norris, Anna, Cooper, and Hailey of Hulett, Wyoming, Joseph and Mathew of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and one step-great-grandson Alex of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Harry on October 3, 2001; one brother, Joe; one sister, Tillie; one brother Oscar in infancy and her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret C. Simek, age 90, of Kadoka was held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2001 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Kadoka, with Father Bob Baden as Celebrant and Father Neil Wilkinson, S.J. Con-Celebrant. They were assisted by Deacon Gene Heckathorne. Margaret died Monday, November 19, 2001 at the Kadoka Care Center in Kadoka, South Dakota.
Visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2001 with a Christian Wake and Rosary service at 7:00 p.m. on Friday all at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Kadoka. Visitation also preceded the services at the church on Saturday.
Interment was in the Kadoka cemetery, Kadoka, South Dakota.
A memorial has been established to the Kadoka Care Center by her family.
Rush Funeral Chapel of Kadoka is in charge of arrangements.

Berniece Jensen, age 95, of Philip, died Wednesday evening, August 15, 2007, at the Philip Nursing Home.
Berniece Reedy was born May 6, 1912 at Winthrop, Iowa, the daughter of James and Catherine (Huston) Reedy. As a young lady she moved with her parents and family to a ranch in the Elbon community north of Philip, South Dakota. She graduated from Philip High School in 1931 and then attended St. John’s School of Nursing in Rapid City for eighteen months. Berniece made her home with her Aunt Julia Kane in Media, Illinois, where she worked as a nurse until 1937 when she moved back to Philip. While in Philip, she worked as a nurse in the old Philip Hospital and later for the doctor in the Philip Clinic.
Berniece was united in marriage to Carl James Jensen on February 8, 1950, at Philip. They made their home on Nels Jensen’s homestead northwest of Philip, which they operated all their married life. After Carl’s death on January 16, 1967, Berniece moved into Philip, where she has since resided. In 1980, Berniece sold the homestead to Mick Mortellaro.
Berniece was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Evening Guild.
Grateful for having shared her life are a sister-in-law Emmie Reedy; her many nieces and nephews in the Jensen, Hart, and Reedy families; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband Carl, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Huston Reedy and John J. Reedy; and three sisters Veronica Hart and two sisters in infancy.
Visitation was held 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 19, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Philip.
Mass of Christian Burial was held 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 20, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Ron Garry as celebrant, and Father Tony Grossenburg as con-celebrant.
Interment was at the Masonic cemetery in Philip.
A memorial is established.

Edna Rubottom
age 91 of Philip, South Dakota, died December 1, 2009, at her home west of Kadoka.
Edna C. Saraiva was born August 23, 1918, in Eureka, California to Joseph and Ludovina (Conceicao) Saraiva. She grew up and received her education in Eureka. As a young lady, She worked as an usherette in the Eureka movie theater. Edna and her sister Alda formed a small musical group in which Edna played the drums and Alda played the accordion. This group played for dances in the Eureka area. After Alda married , Edna joined a small family group and continued to play for dances in the Eureka area. After this group retired, she played with various entertainers in the local night clubs. Edna was a member of the Musicians Union Local 292.
Edna was united in marriage to Laurence V. Rubottom on June 8, 1958, at Eureka, California. They made their home in Eureka where she continued to play for about three months. They continued to reside in Eureka until May 2008, when they moved onto the Maurice and Vickie Fite ranch west of Kadoka, where they have since resided.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Laurence V. Rubottom of Philip; two step-sons and two step-daughters, Karen Pinney and her husband Terrance of Philip, Larry Fite of Kadoka and Robert "Bob" Fite of Philip;and Vickie Fite and her husband Maurice of Philip; nine step-grandchildren, Scott (Stacy) and Kevin (Kim) Pinney, Teresa (Roger) O'Connell, Lori (Khalid) El Aroussi, Bradley and Chad (Lena), Bryon, Vona and Loree Fite; nineteen step-great-grandchildren, Brady, Austin, Cheyenne, Kenzy, Kady, Kahler, Kayla, Jeff, Ashley, Austin, Zenayah, Zayd, Mason, Owen, Tracey, Lukus, Casey, Kenda, and Trenton; Three step-great-great-grandchildren, Helen, Maurice, and Ramona; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary and Alda; one brother, Joseph; and one step-daughter, Deborah Rubottom.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held.

Vicky Lee Dale, age 51, of Philip, died Wednesday, August 23, 2006, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Vicky Lee Miller was born May 10, 1955 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the daughter of Henry "Hank" and Louise (Mehlbrech) Miller. She lived in Salem until the age of eleven when the family moved to Philip. She grew up and received her education in Philip, graduating from Philip High School in 1973.
Vicky was united in marriage to C.K. Dale III in 1973, and to this union were born three children; Hester, C.K. IV, and Charlie. She is now the grandmother to three boys, Parker, Matt, and Gavin. She loved to watch, care for, and play with them. She was very proud of her role as grandma.
Vicky loved to play bingo with her friends. She looked forward to Friday nights. She was the "answering machine", bookkeeper, and dispatcher for the family trucking business, and took a lot of pride in their success. She loved to get flowers and tend to her flowerbeds. She enjoyed cross-stitching, and whenever you would call the house you could always hear Judge Judy, Judge Hatchet, any judge show or Law and Order in the background. She looked forward to this fall when the reruns would be over, because she had seen every episode.
She never wanted anyone to make a fuss over her, but she was always there for anyone who needed anything. She was our everything, and will be greatly missed.
Grateful for having shared her life include her husband CK Dale III of Philip; two sons CK Dale IV of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Charlie Dale of Philip; one daughter Hester Prouty and her husband Joe of Rapid City; three grandchildren Parker and Matthew Prouty, and Gavin Dale; her mother Louise Miller of Philip; two brothers Leonard Miller of Dallas, Texas, and Mike Miller and his wife Debbie of Philip; six sisters Linda Stotts and her husband Carl of Missoula, Montana, Rene Konst of Philip, Joan Carson and her husband Greg of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, Mary Lee of Winner, South Dakota, Donna Kroetch and her husband Brad of Rapid City, and Nancy Roehler and her husband Mark of Sioux Falls; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Vicky was preceded in death by her father Henry W. "Hank" Miller on November 5, 2001, and a sister Karen Williams.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 28, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Philip, with Father Bryan Sorensen as celebrant.
Inunrment was in the Masonic cemetery, Philip.
A memorial is established to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are with the Rush Funeral Home of Philip.

Helen T. Elshere was born April 29, 1903 in Hardingrove, South Dakota, the daughter of Lemuel and Jessie (McCracken) Elshere. She grew up on her parents homestead in the Hardingrove community and attended rural school in that area. She then attended Northern Normal in Aberdeen, and later finished her education at Spearfish Normal. She taught rurual school in the Philip area for four and one half years.
She was united in marriage to William Parsons, Jr. on September 13, 1926 in Rapid City, South Dakota. The made their home on a farm/ranch in the Milesville area. She enjoyed being a farmers wife, which she recalls a "good life" Raising their children in the country, attending rural school, and being home for their meals.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband on August 11, 1950. She remained on the farm-ranch for seven years prior to moving into Philip in 1957.
While in Philip, Helen worked two years for the County Superintendent's Office. She enjoyed traveling, visiting the Holy Land, British Isles, and Alaska, and most of the states.
She sold her home in Philip in 1984 and moved to Sun City, Arizona where she resided until 1994 when she moved back to South Dakota where she made her home with her children.
Grateful for having shared her life are four sons, Dean Parsons and his wife Blanche of Wall,South Dakota, Boyd Parsons, Sr. and his wife Joanne of Rapid City, South Dakota; Barton Parsons and his wife Janice of Milesville, and Billie Parsons and his wife Connie of Milesville, South Dakota; three daughters, Doris Berry and her husband Kenneth of Milesville, South Dakota, Mary Slovek of Philip, and Leah Waddell and her husband James of Huron, South Dakota; one sister, Vera Heard of St. Louis, Missouri; twenty-eight grandchildren, sixty great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Helen was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Clifford, Paul, Donald, and Dean Elshere; three sisters, Mildred Hampton, Irene Steuerwald, and Leah Higbee.
Funeral services for Helen T. Parsons, age 98, of Philip, formerly of Milesville, South Dakota, was held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2001 at the Evangelical Free Church in Philip, with Pastor Gary Wahl officiating.
Helen died Monday evening, November 5, 2001 at the Philip Nursing Home in Philip South Dakota.
Visitation was held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2001 at the Rush Funeral Home in Philip and one hour preceding the services at the church.
Interment was in the Masonic cemetery in Philip.
A memorial is established.

Margaret Williams, age 92, of Wall, died Thursday, January 5, 2006, at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip.
Margaret Mayer was born April 5, 1913 in Stratford, South Dakota, the daughter of Friederick and Martha (Sucket) Mayer. Margaret grew up in Ipswich, Tripp, and north of Wall. She lived most of her adult life in the Wall area.
Margaret was united in marriage to Clarence Ward White on December 29, 1930 at Sturgis, and to this union were born seven children. They made their home in the Pedro area for many years. She moved to Wall to work and send her children to school.
Margaret enjoyed roses, horses, her children, grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Margaret was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Wall and the VFW Auxiliary of Quinn.
Grateful for having shared her life include three daughters, Audrey Hoffman of Wall, Deloris Poss and her husband Donnie of Philip, and Margy Kjerstad and her husband Jerry of Piedmont; three sons Bill White and his wife Rose of Creighton, Bob White of Apache Junction, Arizona, and Fred White and his wife Arlene of North Platte, Nebraska; twenty-six grandchildren; forty-six great-grandchildren; sixteen great-great-grandchildren; a sister Darlene Hill of Rapid City; a daughter-in-law Loretta White of Interior; a sister-in-law Rose Mary Mayer of Tripp, South Dakota, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husbands Clarence Ward White on May 3, 1991; Don Cress, and Forest "Bud" Williams. Also preceding her in death was her son Richard "Dick" White on October 9, 2005; a grandson George Hoffman; her parents; a son-in-law Maurice Hoffman; three sisters Pauline O'Niel, Esther Tillie, and Edna Lee; two brothers Alvin and Raymond Mayer; and three brothers in infancy, Daniel, Edwin, and Wilhalim.
Visitation was held 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 9, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at the Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Wall.
Mass of Christian Burial was 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Leo Hausmann as celebrant, and Father Bob Baden as con-celebrant.
Interment was in the Wall cemetery.
A memorial is established.

Henry W. "Hank" Miller was born February 13, 1929 in Bridgewater, South Dakota, the son of Henry and Violet (Cameron) Miller. He grew up and received his education in Canistota.
On September 26, 1946, Henry entered the U.S. Army, where he spent two years. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he went to work on a construction crew in Salem, South Dakota, where he met his bride.
He was united in marriage to Louise Mehlbrech on June 20, 1950 in Salem, South Dakota. After their marriage, Hank farmed for one year before moving to Bridgewater and working in a creamery. Later Hank worked for the McCook County Highway Department in Salem, where he stayed for five years.
In 1965 Henry and his family moved to Philip, where Henry worked as the Haakon County Highway Superintendent. In 1970, he worked for Kennedy Implement as a heavy equipment salesman. In 1982 he returned to the Haakon County Highway Department where he remained until his retirement in 1993.
Hank was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, being Grand Knight for two years. He was also very active in the Wheeler-Brooks American Legion Post #173 of Philip. Henry was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing.
Henry was always known as the "little guy on the golf cart."
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Louise Miller of Philip; two sons, Leonard Miller of Platte City, Missouri, and Mike Miller and his wife Debbie of Philip; seven daughters, Linda Stotts and her husband Carl, of Missoula, Montana, Rene Konst of Philip, Vicky Dale and her husband C.K. of Philip, Joan Carson and her husband Greg of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, Mary Lee and her husband Mike of Parker, South Dakota, Donna Kroetch and her husband Brad of Minot, North Dakota, and Nancy Roehler and her husband Mark of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; twenty-three grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Loretta Ensz of Marion, South Dakota, and Violet Lydic of Denver, Colorado; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Henry was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen Williams; his parents; one brother, Howard Miller; and one sister, Zula Mehlbrech.
Mass of Christian Burial for Henry W. "Hank" Miller, age 72, of Philip, was held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2001 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Philip, with Father Tony Grossenburg as Celebrant. Henry died Monday morning, November 5, 2001 at his residence in Philip.
Visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. all on Friday, November 9, 2001 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Interment with military honors by the American Legion Post #173 of Philip was in the Masonic cemetery in Philip.
A memorial is established.
