Luke Wedean Wolfe
Funeral services for Luke Wedean Wolfe were 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at the First Baptist Church in Rochester, with Pastor Karen Foster and Rev. Gary Seaquist officiating.
Luke 5 ½ month old infant, died from heart complications on June 15, 2002 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
Luke was born on December 31, 2001 one minute after his twin sister Meg.
Luke was happy being held, read to, and cuddled.
Survivors include his parents Steve and Marcy (Brunskill) Wolfe, twin sister Meg all of Rochester, Minnesota; Paternal grandparents Bob and Kathy Wolfe of Davenport, Iowa; Maternal grandparents Susan Brunskill of Murdo SD, and Neal "Obie" and Anne Brunskill of Philip, SD; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Interment was 6:00 p.m. CDT Wednesday June 19, 2002 in the Murdo cemetery, with Father Tim Hoag officiating.
Rush Funeral Home of Philip is in charge of local arrangements.

Reuben Deutscher, age 87, of Wall, died Saturday, January 27, 2007, at the Beverly Healthcare Bella Vista in Rapid City.
Reuben O. Deutscher was born March 24, 1919, in Redig, South Dakota, in Harding County, the fourth of eight children born to John and Emma (Schumacher) Deutscher. He grew up in Harding County, and graduated from Buffalo High School.
He enlisted in the United States Army on September 20, 1940 and served with the 161st Infantry Battalion. He was discharged on October 22, 1941. He worked at Boeing Airline for about a year. He reenlisted on September 29, 1942. While in the service he attended Spearfish Normal College, and took pilot training courses. He was honorably discharged on July 10, 1943.
Reuben was united in marriage to Helen Juelfs on April 10, 1943, in Spearfish, South Dakota. After their marriage they operated his brother-in-law’s farm in Ralph, South Dakota, until moving south of Wall in 1946, where they farmed and ranched until 2000. They continued to reside on the ranch all their married life.
Reuben was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wall, served on the Wall School Board, served as a director and chairman of West River Electric, and a member of the Carroll-McDonald American Legion Post #246 of Wall.
Grateful for having shared his life include his wife Helen of Wall; a son Charles Deutscher and his wife Bonnie of Wall; a daughter Roxy Hunter and her husband Gene of Rapid City; three grandchildren Evan Deutscher and his wife Stacy of Wall, Leslie Merrill and her husband Shawn of Wall, and Dana Namken and her husband Keith of Watertown; four great-grandchildren Savanna, Samantha and Searra Sioux Deutscher and Tearra Merrill; a brother-in-law Don Wagner of Ralph; a sister-in-law Mary Dean Percy of Rapid City; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Reuben was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers Herbert, Reynold, Edward, Arnold "Bud" and Richard Deutscher; and two sisters Leah Wagner and Kathy Deutscher.
Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m .to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 29, at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wall, with a scripture service at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial was held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 30, at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Leo Hausmann as celebrant and Father Dan Juelfs and Father Kerry Predeville as con-celebrants.
Interment with military honors by the Carrol-McDonald American Legion Post #246 of Wall, and the F.J. Willuweit VFW Post #9120 of Quinn, was in the Wall cemetery.
A memorial is established to the Alzheimer’s Support Group and the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wall.
Arrangements are with the Rush Funeral Chapel of Wall.

Joyce Romero, age 67, of Wanblee, died Sunday morning, July 15, 2007, at her home in Wanblee.
Audrey "Joyce" Quiver-Romero, Cikala Waste Win, was born February 9, 1940 in Pine Ridge, SD. Joyce left this world to be with her family that preceded her in death on July 15, 2007. Joyce passed away at her residence, the Seven Arrow Ranch on Quiver Hill.
Meeting and guiding her home was her mother Lavina Richards-Quiver, her father Bert Quiver, her sisters Fern Fast Wolf and Twila Quiver. Also, brothers Bertie, Willard and Delane Quiver.
Joyce was a hard working woman who raised eight children of her own, and several of her family members. Joyce extended her home to all in need. Her love of horses was known to all who knew her or entered her home. Joyce grew up on Quiver Hill as a child and spent her life coming home. Joyce worked many professions from cleaning, hair dressing, cooking, teaching and managing the Wanblee Senior Citizen Meal Program. Joyce had many dreams, all mostly involving horses. She purchased land from her father on Quiver Hill and made her home there. She had her own home built and raised quarter horses and horse of her own liking.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Al Romero, Harris and Angie Eisenbraun of Kadoka, their sons Cameron and Jordon, great grand children David, Kai and Cyril. Rhonda Terkildsen and Lee Addison of Belvidere, SD and their children Lacey, Pam, Cassondra, Eric and John. Niels and Michelle Terkildsen of Billings MT, and their sons Royal and Chance. Monica Terkildsen and Terry Romero of Wanblee and their daughters Alexandria, Antonia and Augusta and great grandchild Summer. James Terkildsen of Wanblee and his children Tristian and Amber. Myrna and Dennis Swift Hawk of Rapid City and their children Kenny, Audrey, Darryl, Victoria and Brian. Melda and Thomas Thunder Hawk of Rapid City and their sons Trevor, Thomas jr, and William. Malinda and David Amiotte of Long Valley and their children Davis, Joanne, Karen, and Medina; three brothers Leonard Quiver of Rapid City, Clayton Quiver of Custer, and Boyd Quiver of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters Fern Fast Wolf and Twila Quiver; and three brothers Bertie, Willard and Delane Quiver.
Wake services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, at the Crazy Horse School in Wanblee and continue until service time.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 20, at the Crazy Horse School, with Richard and Carol Lee and Pastor Gary McCubbin officiating.
Interment will be at the Seven Arrow Ranch cemetery in rural Wanblee.
Arrangements are with the Rush Funeral Chapel of Kadoka.

Velma V. Parke was born January 21, 1911 in Weta, South Dakota, the daughter of William C. and Fredrika (Schmidt) Parke. She grew up on a farm in Weta, and received her education in the Weta area.
Velma was united in marriage to John Drabek on February 15, 1931 in Kadoka, South Dakota. They made their home on a farm north of Belvidere, which they operated until moving into Kadoka in January 1954. While in Kadoka she was best known for her child care.
Velma enjoyed many hours of quilting with her friends in Kadoka. She also enjoyed crocheting afghans and growing a massive garden. Her greatest enjoyment in life was her family and treasured their many visits.
Her husband John preceded her in death on September 4, 1982.
Velma continued to reside in Kadoka until moving to Custer in 1989 and later Belle Fourche. In 1994, Velma moved to Spearfish, where she has since resided.
Velma was a member of the Kadoka Presbyterian Church, the Kadoka Lion’s Club, and the Kadoka Senior Citizens.
Grateful for having shared her life are her six children Irene Hansen and her husband Philip of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Iola Kezar of Custer, Richard Drabek and his wife Joyce of Belle Fourche, Robert Drabek and his wife Bev of Rapid City, Margaret Thomas of Colorado Springs, and Marly Mechaley and her husband Joe of Spearfish; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband John, Velma was preceded in death by a grandson Tony Mechaley in 1986; a grandson Garr Drabek in 1996; her parents; four brothers Irving, Clarence, Myron, and Merle; and two sisters Elsie Gilchrist and Bessie Leffler.
The family would like to express their profound gratitude to the staff at Sandstone Manor for their special
attention, care, and compassion to our mom.
Velma V. Drabek, age 93, of Spearfish, formerly of Kadoka, died Monday morning, March 15, 2004, at the Sandstone Manor in Spearfish, South Dakota.
Visitation was held 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, at the Rush Funeral Chapel in Kadoka, and one hour preceding the services at the church on Friday.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 19, at the Presbyterian Church in Kadoka, with Pastor Gary McCubbin officiating.
Interment will be in the Kadoka cemetery.
A memorial is established.

Fred Taylor
A celebration of life for Fred Taylor, a beloved husband, dad and grandfather, 64, of Gillette, Wyoming, formerly of Philip, South Dakota, was held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, at the Milesville Hall in Milesville, South Dakota, with Pastor Lester Hall officiating. Interment was in the Milesville cemetery. Closed-casket visitation was held one hour prior to the services.
Fred Taylor died Friday, May 21, 2004 at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette.
He was born October 8, 1939 in Isabel, South Dakota to Phyllis (Monville) Taylor and Cecil "Buster" Taylor.
In 1958, through his good pal Eddie Morgan, Fred met Kyle Morgan in Milesville, SD. They married on December 1, 1962 in Philip, SD.
Fred worked for the White Thunder Ranch in Milesville, SD from 1963-64. He later moved his family to Philip where he worked for Farmers Union Elevator until 1990. Fred and Kyle then moved to Chadron, Nebraska where he drove truck until 2000. In 2000 Fred and his bride, Kyle, moved to Gillette, Wyoming. Fred drove truck for Nelson Brothers and was currently driving truck for K G Construction of Gillette.
The loves of his life are family, grandchildren, fishing, hunting, and truck driving.
Survivors include his wife Kyle Taylor of Gillette; three children, Brent Taylor and his wife Shawn of Gillette, Laura Smith and her husband Dean of Rozet, Wyoming, and Matt Taylor and his wife Amy of Gillette; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother Donnie Taylor of Wahpeton, North Dakota; one sister Bernie Armsted of Oklahoma; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Lou Baruth.
Rush Funeral Home of Philip is in charge of arrangements.

Wilma Lynch
age 81 of Quinn, South Dakota, died July 17, 2009, at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip.
Wilma Lucy Pippert was born January 25, 1928 on her parent's homestead north of Quinn, South Dakota, the daughter of William and Anna (Rehm) Pippert. She grew up there and received her elementary education at the Rickard School. She graduated from Quinn High School and then attended National College of Business in Rapid City.
She was united in marriage to Verlyn Lynch on November 8, 1949 at Custer. They made their home on the Lynch homestead north of Quinn where they resided until 1964. They then moved to a farm north of Wall. Wilma worked many years at the Wall Drug Store and at the Welsh Motel. After retiring in 1986 they moved into Quinn.
Her husband preceded her in death on January 27, 1998 but she continued to make her home in Quinn.
Wilma’s enjoyment in life besides her family was crocheting and working crossword puzzles.
Grateful for having shared her life include two sons Terry Lynch of Wall, and Randy Lynch and his wife Carol of Quinn; one daughter Pam Mattson of Custer; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband Verlyn, Wilma was preceded in death by two grandchildren; a daughter-in-law Diane Lynch; a son-in-law Milan Mattson; her parents; three brothers Walter Pippert, Elmer Pippert, and Bill Pippert; and six sisters Viola Schuler, Helen Lynch, Opal Ritzman, Sylvia Pippert, Lorain Pippert, and Violet Hook.
Visitation was held 3-5 p.m. Sunday, July 19, at the Rush Funeral Chapel in Wall, and one hour preceding the services at the church on Monday.
Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 20, at the First Lutheran Church in Wall, with Pastor Curtis Garland officiaiting.
Interment was at the Mt. Hope cemetery in Quinn.
A memorial is established.

Bertha Ida Geigle was born August 1, 1912 in Freeman, South Dakota, the daughter of Jacob and Dorothea (Hein) Geigle. She was later baptized in the Lutheran Church at Freeman.
As a young girl, Bertha moved with her parents back to their homestead sixteen miles north of Quinn. She grew up on the homestead and received her elementary education at the Rainy Creek rural school.
In 1926 she was confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Creighton.
Bertha was united in marriage to John Denke on December 14, 1939, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Quinn, South Dakota.
After their marriage, they moved onto their own farm-ranch near Creighton where they resided until health reasons forced them to moved into Wall in 1994.
In 1997, Bertha moved into the Good Samaritan Center in New Underwood.
Her husband, John preceded her in death on June 26, 1997.
Bertha was a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Quinn, and a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Creighton.
Bertha enjoyed gardening, flowers, crocheting, sewing, and cooking. Many people remember her willingness to cook a meal for anyone at anytime. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared her life are her two daughters, Laura Olson and her husband, Wesley of Summersville, Missouri, and Marie Naescher and her husband, Michael of Wall; six grandchildren, Dion Alicia, and Kristi Olson, Brian Naescher and his fiancée Briana Smith, and Darin and Gregory Naescher; a brother, Jacob Geigle of Seattle, Washington; two sister-in-laws, Brigitta Geigle and Tillia Denke, both of Wall; and one brother in-law, Emil Denke of New Underwood.
In addition to her husband, John Denke, Bertha was preceded in death by a son, Arnold Denke; her parents; two brothers, Adolph and Otto Geigle; three sisters, Emilie Geigle, Johanna Eisenbraun, and an infant sister, Rose Geigle.
Bertha Ida Denke, age 89, of Creighton, died Thursday, June 06, 2002 at the Good Samaritan Center in New Underwood.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, at the Rush Funeral Chapel in Wall, and one hour preceding the services at the church on Tuesday.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2002 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Creighton, with Vicar Monty Dell officiating.
Interment will be in the Wall cemetery.

Lillian M. Cook was born July 8, 1911, at Wagner, South Dakota, to Greenville "G.V" and Catherine (Ohmer) Cook. Her parents farmed near Wagner in Charles Mix County until 1919 when they moved to a ranch six miles east of Cottonwood. Lillian attended school at Recluse Rural School, graduating from Cottonwood High School in 1929.
After high school, she attended Notre Dame Junior College, at Mitchell, S.D. Her teaching career began in 1930 in the Callahan School, a small rural school near the community of Ash Creek. She embarked upon her career as an educator with the enthusiasm she continued to demonstrate the rest of her life.
After attending six-week summer school sessions, many of them at Black Hills State College, she earned her state teaching certificate in 1941.
During her life she shared her love of education with students in a variety of rural schools. Those included Big Buffalo, Hiway School and West Grandview. She also taught at the Cottonwood and Quinn schools.
In the fall of 1947 Lillian returned to Black Hills State College where she received her degree in education in 1948. Following graduation, she taught at Interior High School for two years. She joined the teaching staff at the Kadoka High School in 1951 as an English teacher and librarian. Her 43 years as a school teacher ended with her retirement in 1976. The hundreds of students, whose lives she touched, continue to remember her "as strict, but the best teacher they ever had."
She continued to make her home with her brother, Granville, helping him operate their ranch until they moved into Philip in 1998.
Lillian was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She served as a lector, taught confirmation classes and was a member of the Sacred Heart Evening Guild.
Grateful for having shared her life are her sisters, Elizabeth Sargent, Pueblo, Colorado; Josephine Brown, Auburn, California, and Anne Scofield, Pleasant Hill, California; several devoted nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; scores of students, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Theresa McRee, and a brother, Ohmer.
Lillian died Wednesday morning at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip.
Visitation was held 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, all at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Philip.
Mass of Christian Burial for Lillian M. Cook, age 90, of Philip, was held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2002 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Philip, with Father Tony Grossenburg as celebrant.
Interment was in the Cottonwood cemetery.
A memorial is established.

Raymond R. "Ray" Ghering, Sr. was born February 16, 1918, in Scotland, South Dakota, the son of Ralph and Caroline (Muhuel) Ghering.
He grew up in the Olivet community and graduated from Olivet High School in 1936.
As a young man he farmed and trapped in the Olivet area.
In the summer months, Ray traveled with a carnival. He boxed and wrestled for the carnival in sideshows. In 1940 he was the Golden Glove Champion in the light heavyweight class, and in 1941 he was Golden Glove Champion in the heavyweight class.
Ray was united in marriage to Inez Gunn in September 1941 in Nebraska, and to this union was born four children.
After their marriage the family traveled the upper Midwest with a carnival where Ray continued his boxing and wrestling sideshows.
In 1959, the family moved to Wall, South Dakota where Ray worked in Predator Control for the Federal Government. Later when the South Dakota Game Fish and Parks took over the Predator Control he worked for the state.
His wife Inez preceded him in death in 1972.
He continued to reside in Wall. Ray was united in marriage to Nyla Jacob on November 20, 1973 in Wall. Ray continued to work for the state until his retirement in 1983. Ray and Nyla continued to make their home in Wall until health reasons forced him into the Good Samaritan Center in New Underwood in October 2001, where he has since resided.
Raymond was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Wall Sportsman Club, Ducks Unlimited, and a twenty-six year member of AA.
In the early 1960’s Ray taught boxing in Wall to young men. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and teaching hunter’s safety courses. He loved teaching kids how to hunt, fish, and trap.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Nyla Ghering of Wall; five sons David Ghering and his fiancé Tiffany Hunt of Rapid City, Raymond Ghering Jr. and his wife Scottie of Gillette, Wyoming, Richard Johnson and his wife Peggy of Rapid City, Dan Johnson and his wife Kathy of Roseburg, Oregon, and Dewey Johnson and his wife Crystal of Sioux Falls; six daughters Carmen Crawford and her husband Richard of Rapid City, Patty McVey and her husband Ron of Whittman, Arizona, Betty Lloyd of Whittman, Arizona, Debra Welsh and her husband Clifford of Centralia Washington, Dawn Lyons and her husband Al of Centralia Washington, and Denise Kranhold and her husband Cory of Sisseton, South Dakota; twenty-six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his first wife Inez, Raymond was preceded in death by one grandson, Jay Crawford, his parents, and two brothers.
Ray died Friday, May 31, at the Good Samaritan Center in New Underwood at the age of 84.
Visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. all at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wall.
Mass of Christian Burial for Raymond R. "Ray" Ghering, Sr. was held 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2002 at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wall, with Father Bob Baden as celebrant.
Interment was in the Wall cemetery.
A memorial is established.

Evelyn Falzone
age 88 of Philip, South Dakota, formerly of Milesville, SD, died August 22, 2009, at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital.
Evelyn D. Hoffman was born April 21, 1921, at Ft. Pierre, South Dakota, the daughter of John and Philamena (Lahner) Hoffman. She grew up and received her education in the Ft. Pierre community.
Evelyn was united in marriage to Mauriece Falzone on May 14, 1938, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Pierre. They made their home in Pierre until moving onto his parents’ homestead near Milesville, South Dakota, in the fall of 1941. They farmed and ranched their until Mauriece’s death on July 7, 1997.
Evelyn continued to reside on the farm ranch until moving into Philip on June 21, 2002.
Evelyn was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Milesville, as well as the Altar Society.
Grateful for having shared her life include her two sons Jerry Falzone and his wife Arlene of Osakis, Minnesota, and Floren Falzone and his wife Debbie of Philip; one daughter Sharon Colburn and her husband Larry of Elk, Washington; five grandchildren Dorrine Husum and her husband Rock, Michael Falzone and his wife Tonya, Matthew Falzone and his wife Carrie, Bart Colburn, and Lance Falzone and his wife Erin; twelve great-grandchildren Jeremy, Stephanie, Jessica, Chase, Sierra, Breann, Riley, Marchello, Allison, Harlie, Chaeli, and Cason; one sister Rita Noonan of Burbank, California; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband Mauriece, Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers Lawrence, Joseph, Martin and Paul Hoffman; and two sisters Frances Keeley and Margaret Harty.
Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Philip, with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Ron Garry as celebrant.
Interment will be in the Masonic cemetery.
A memorial is established.
