Milo Novak

The angels came for Milo Novak early Saturday morning on July 21, 2007.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2007 at the Tyndall Presbyterian Church in Tyndall, SD with Rev. Bill L. VanGerpen officiating.

Visitations will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arrangements are in the care of the Kostel Funeral Home in Tabor, SD.

Milo was born September 5, 1921, in Tyndall, SD, to Joseph and Josephine (Jilek) Novak.

He graduated from Avon High School in 1939.

After graduation Milo worked on the Orman Dam Project in Belle Fourche SD.

Milo then moved to Sioux City, IA, and began boxing in the Golden Gloves circuit.

There he won the light-heavyweight Golden Gloves Boxing Championship, and then began boxing out of Chicago, IL.

Milo drafted into the Army and volunteered for the 4th Air Borne Paratroopers out of Fort Benning, GA.

He was educated in telegraphy and was a brakeman for the Milwaukee Railroad in Casper, WY, working throughout Montana. Milo loved Montana.

Returning to Tyndall, SD, he met Rose Mary Sejnoha.

They were married November 23, 1949. They have six children: Dorothy, Carol, Edward (Patty Jo), Joni, Peggy, and Rick (Pam), 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.

Milo took loving care of his family and enjoyed being with them. He loved the outdoors and traveling.

He dabbled in some farming, telegraphy, TV repair, remodeling houses, and gardening.

He operated the Coast to Coast store until he gained full-time employment as a rural mail carrier from which he retired at 70 years of age.

Milo's surviving brothers are Charlie and Jim; sisters are Gladys Pechous, Sylvia Corcoran, Mildred Hovorka.

He was preceded in death by his sister Irene Ruman and Joseph Novak, Jr.

Milo was adored by his very devoted wife, children, and grandchildren.

We all pray that he will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Diane Feldman

SHELBY, Neb. -- Diane Feldman, 66, of Shelby, Neb., died July 17, 2007, in Omaha, Neb.

Memorial service is planned for Saturday, July 21, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the Columbus Berean Church with the Rev. Will Sanborn presiding.

Diane was born July 28, 1940, in Yankton, South Dakota.

She attended Yankton Public schools.

After graduating from Yankton College, she taught for one year in Rapid City.

Diane then moved to Columbus, Neb., where she taught in the Columbus Public Schools from 1963 to 2001.

After retiring, she continued as a volunteer at Emerson Elementary School and West Park Elementary School.

She was given the School Bell Award in 2002.

She attended the Columbus Berean Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother and sister.

Donald 'Tim' Moore

Donald "Tim" Moore, age 78, of Yankton, South Dakota, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 20, 2007, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yankton with Reverend David Garza officiating.

Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Yankton with military honors provided by the Rudolph-Christenson American Legion Post No. 237.

Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with a rosary and prayer service at 7:00 p.m.

Pallbearers are Rick Moore, Tom Moore, Doug Moore, Terry Moore, Jim Moore and Tom Zaruba.

Donald was born on June 9, 1929, to William and Helen (Stibral) Moore in Yankton, South Dakota.

He grew up in Yankton County and graduated from Gayville High School.

After graduating from high school he enlisted into the United States Army in 1947.

He was discharged from the Army in 1950, but was called back into active duty a few months later to fight in the Korean Conflict.

He married Gertrude Hanten on November 13, 1950 in Platte, South Dakota.

In 1951 he returned to Yankton County where he farmed near Gayville until moving to Yankton in 2000.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yankton VFW, and Gayville American Legion.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing cards, and especially visiting with friends and family.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude of Yankton; five sons: Rick (Joni) Moore of Norfolk, Nebraska, Tom (Joyce) Moore of Mission Hill, South Dakota, Doug (Benay) Moore of Huntington Beach, California, Terry (Bonnie) Moore of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, and Jim Moore of McKinney, Texas; one daughter, Tammy (Tom) Zaruba of Victoria, Minnesota; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers: Robert and William Moore, both of Yankton; and nieces and nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Sharlene; and sister-in-law, Loraine.

George Hoffman

George W. Hoffman, age 93, of Yankton, South Dakota, died Saturday, July 14, 2007 at his residence in Yankton.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2007, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Yankton with Vicar Eric Schoech officiating.

Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell, South Dakota at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Visitation is one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Yankton.

Pallbearers are Steven Hess, Kurt Lyman, Rodney Lyman, Terry Lyman, Terry Lee Lyman, Zack Lyman, and Gary Thelen.

George was born January 26, 1914 in Lane, South Dakota to Otto and Kathrine (Marken) Hoffman.

George lived and farmed in the Mitchell area most of his life.

Upon retirement, George and his wife, Vera, moved to Yankton. He loved horses, nature, and farming and will always be remembered for his shy smile and sense of humor.

He also loved Vera's children who will miss his quiet and gentle ways. George was like a "dad" and "grandpa" to them and he called them "his kids," too. They are Harvey (deceased) and Bettie Lyman of Lynchburg, Virginia, Ronald and Louise Lyman of Yankton, Gloria and Ronald Hess of Cambridge, Minnesota and Terry and Jan Lyman of Burnsville, Minnesota; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Bernice; second wife, Vera on January 7, 2000; and two brothers and one sister.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be directed to the wonderful hospice caretakers at Avera Sacred Heart Hospice, 501 Summit, Yankton, SD 57078.

Lea Hauck

MENNO -- Lea K. Hauck, age 96, of Menno, passed away Monday, July 16, 2007 at the Menno-Olivet Care Center, Menno, SD where she resided for the past four years.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at Peace Christian Reformed Church, Menno, with Rev. Harold Willemstyn officiating. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery, rural Menno, SD.

Visitations will be 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday (July 17, 2007), at the Aisenbrey-Kostel Funeral Home, Menno, with the family present at 7:00 p.m. and then one hour prior to the service at the church.

Pallbearers will be Arvin Hauck, Richard Dewald, Arlo Dewald, Dwayne Winckler, Harlan Winckler and Verlyn Winckler.

Lea was born on December 27, 1910 northwest of Tyndall, SD to Jacob and Katherine (Frey) Winckler.

She was baptized and confirmed at the German Congregation Church by Rev. John Meer.

She married Alvin P. Hauck on November 16, 1933 at the German Congregation Church Southwest of Scotland, SD.

Five children were born to Alvin and Lea, three sons and two daughters.

Alvin and Lea farmed southeast of Menno for 35 years.

She enjoyed raising chickens, gardening and the farm animals.

She loved doing crafts as well as sewing, quilting, crocheting, and embroidering.

She also made and collected dolls.

After moving to town, Lea worked at the Open Door Cafe.

She enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens Center and was a craft volunteer at the Menno-Olivet Care Center.

She enjoyed breakfast at the Open Door Caf and her daily walks.

Alvin died on May 8, 1978. They were married 45 years.

Lea is survived by her daughter, Darlene (Bert) Tiesen of Sioux Falls, SD, and son, Orville (Josephine) Hauck of rural Menno, SD; four grandsons: Brian (Gina) Hauck of Blackfoot, ID, Alan (Deb) Hauck of Viborg, SD, Gary Hauck of Canfield, OH, and John (Jen) Hauck of Sioux Falls, SD; four special great-grandchildren: Shailynn, Shamae, Kate, and Ethan; and her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, 3 infant children: Verlina, Clifford G., and Alvin Jr., her parents, her sister Louisa, and seven brothers: Emil, Henry, Edwin, Helmuth, Alfred, George, and Robert.
