At a young age, Courtney was diagnosed with a very rare form of dwarfism called Primordial Dwarfism. Throughout her lifetime she faced over 60 surgeries, and many health obstacles. Since this past September she has been hospitalized in Boston, Denver, and Rapid City and for the past six weeks at the Presbyterian Saint Luke’s Medical Center in Denver, CO. Words to describe Courtney would include special, funny, strong, confident, joyful, optimistic, giving, loving, cheerful, and big. Even though she wasn’t the biggest person God made, you couldn’t tell Courtney that. She looked at herself as a “big person” and expected everyone to treat her that way as well. She didn’t feel sorry for herself either, and she never wanted anybody else’s sympathy. She loved animals, especially her dog, Toto. She liked to garden, enjoyed motorcycle rides, arm wrestling, and climbing apple trees and throwing apples down on her friends. She loved life and she loved people. Music was a big part of her life and she made memories at a wedding dance, dancing with her new friend Bob Morris, who enjoyed flirting with her back and forth. God gave Courtney a special heart that really affected people. Her heart touched people’s lives in a special way, that can’t really be described. She will be always remembered for it, and she will be greatly missed by her many friends, and her family.
