Merritt E. Patterson, age 93, of Wall, died Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at the Clarkson Mt. View Health Care Facility in Rapid City.
Merritt E. Patterson was born September 7, 1911, in Gregory, South Dakota, the son of Cephas Dalton and Laura (Harvey) Patterson. When he was six months old, his family moved by covered wagon back to the homestead in the Lakeside area. He started school in the Lakeside area before the family moved to a farm near Owanka, where he finished grade school and attended high school. After his education, he worked on the railroad several summers and in 1932 he went to Wall to work.
He was united in marriage to Evelyn MacGregor on October 13, 1934. After their marriage, he worked for Alex MacGregor, joined the C.C.C., and worked for two years on the railroad at New Underwood, before coming back to help Alex on the farm. In 1946, he rented the farm from Alex, and in 1951 he purchased the farm. Merritt and Evelyn continued to live and work on the farm, as well as remain very active in numerous activities and organizations in the Wall community. Merritt and Evelyn were the first recipients of the Wall Booster Club Award.
Merritt's wife Evelyn preceded him in death on September 28, 1994. After his wife's death, Merritt continued to reside on the farm..
Merritt was a member of the Wall United Methodist Church where he served as chairman of the Building Committee when the new church was built. He was a member of the Crescent Lodge A.F. & A.M., serving on the building committee when the Temple was built. He was a past Master of the Lodge and several times served as Patron of the Wonderland Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.
Grateful for having shared his life include four sons and their families; Gene Patterson and his wife Rita of Wall, and his children Dawn and Matt Nagel and their son Cody of Fairview, South Dakota, and Kent and Elizabeth Patterson and their sons Nicholas, Noah, and Braden of Waseca, Minnesota, Mark Patterson and his wife Jennifer of Wall and their children Nathan and Meghan, her children Loren and Lisa Kasuske of Rapid City and their children Justin, Katie, and Bryttini, Angela Pillatzki and her husband Keith of Brookings, and their children Emily and Jack, and Eric Kasuske and his wife Nadine of Rapid City, and their son Remington; Dean Patterson and his wife Marcine of Wall, and their children Scott Patterson of Chancellor, South Dakota, and Kevin Patterson and his wife Diana of Sioux Falls, and their daughter Dillan; Dale Patterson and his wife Barb of Wall, and their children Justin Patterson and his wife Teri of Rapid City, Sean Patterson and his wife Tara of Henderson, Nevada, Ryan Patterson and his wife Jessica of Hillsboro, Oregon and their children Kyra and Ayden, Dain Patterson and his special friend Lori of Henderson, Nevada, and Karmin Patterson and her special friend Todd of Lead; and Gale Patterson and his wife Karol of Wall, and their son Seth; a sister Zelda Greenwalt of Denver, Colorado; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife Evelyn, Merritt was preceded in death by a great-grandson Trevor Patterson; two brothers Doland and Wayne Patterson; and four sisters Naida Greenwalt, Lola Flint, and Garnet and Mildred Patterson as children.
Visitation was held 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 5, at the United Methodist Church in Wall, with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. at the church.
Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 6, at the United Methodist Church, with Rev. Brad Kattelmann officiating.
Interment with Masonic Rites by the Crescent Lodge #210 A.F. & A.M. was in the Wall cemetery.
A memorial is established.

Olive B. Patterson, age 98, of New Underwood, died Monday evening, September 25, 2006, at the Good Samaritan Center in New Underwood.
Olive Burnham was born February 23, 1908, in Blaine, Kansas, the daughter of Arthur and Lucy (Miles) Burnham. When she was six months old the family moved to a homestead south of Wasta, South Dakota where she attended a country grade school. As a teenager her family moved to New Underwood where she graduated from High School.
On November 2, 1931, she married Doland Patterson of Owanka at New Underwood. Following their marriage they moved to Owanka where they operated a restaurant for a short time, then moving to a farm south of Owanka for a year before moving to a farm northeast of Owanka for five years. In 1939 they moved to a farm northwest of Wall where they lived until her husband's death in 1977. After living alone for three years on the farm she moved to Prairie Village in Wall where she lived until moving to New Underwood to live with her sister Hazel Fox for ten years. She recently moved into the Good Samaritan Center where she lived until her death.
Survivors include her son Duane Patterson and his wife Eunice of Rapid City; five grandchildren David Patterson and his wife Kelly of Rapid City, Cheryl Lewis and her husband Scott of Rapid City, Dwight Patterson and his wife Crystal of Rapid City, Craig Blankenfeld of Rapid City, and Douglas Blankenfeld of Denver, Colorado; fifteen great-grandchildren; fourteen great-great-grandchildren; two sisters Hazel Fox of New Underwood, and Mildred Wilson of Loveland, Colorado; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband Doland, Olive was preceded in death by a daughter Shirley Renaud; an infant grandson Terrance Blankenfeld; one sister; and two brothers.
Visitation was held prior to the service.
Funeral services were held 11:30 a.m. Friday, September 29, at the New Underwood Community Church in New Underwood, with Pastor Ed Wyatt officiating.
Interment was 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Wall cemetery.
A memorial is established.

Carol Adelaide Poste was born January 7, 1917 at her mother's claim home near Ash Creek, South Dakota, the daughter of Millard Brainard and Magdalena (Bauer) Poste.
She attended the Callahan School through the eighth grade. She went to Philip High School her freshman year then transferred to Belle Fourche High School graduating in 1934. While attending high school, she lived with family friends working for her room and board. She was honored to have led the Belle Fourche Bronco Parade on horseback.
Carol wanted to become a teacher so she went to Black Hills College and received a teaching certificate. The first school she taught was the Cedar Pass School near the Badlands. She continued teaching at schools in the Grindstone and Philip area. She received the Rural School Teacher Award from the state of South Dakota.
Carol was united in marriage to Harry L. "Bud" Paulsen on September 20, 1941 in Rapid City, South Dakota. Carol and Bud bought Bud's parent's ranch at Pedro, South Dakota and lived there until they sold the ranch in 1958 and moved to Wall. Carol and Bud spent one year in Huron, South Dakota, helping build and manage the Plains Motel with Bud's sister. Carol worked at the motel as a reservation clerk, bookkeeper, and telephone operator. They then returned to Wall and built their home in 1963. Carol worked at the Wall Drug Store for sixteen years.
While teaching, Carol was a member of the South Dakota Teachers Association and president of the Haakon County Teachers. She belonged to the Pedro Pals Extension Club and helped with 4-H clubs in the area. While living in Wall, Carol was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Pinnacle Club, the Wall Book Club, Eastern Star, and the Gourmet Club.
Carol enjoyed gardening, knitting, and crocheting, and had a passion for reading. She loved playing cards and entertaining her friends and family in her home. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were dear to her heart.
Grateful for having shared her life include one daughter Sherry DeLand and her husband Kurth of Stromsburg, Nebraska; three grandchildren Kara Nelson and her husband Ritch of Lincoln, Nebraska, Mitchell DeLand and his wife Denise of Normal, Illinois, and Kendra Schmit and her husband Michael of Lincoln, Nebraska; five great-grandchildren Hannah and Luke DeLand, Lena and Thorine Nelson, and Eli Schmit; one brother Donald "Magnus" Poste and his wife Virginia of Casper, Wyoming, two sisters Meta Dabney of Pahrump, Nevada, and Leila Joyce and her husband Jim of Custer, South Dakota; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Harry L. "Bud" Paulsen on January 27, 2001; two brothers Max and Gene Poste; and two sisters Mildred Trumbo and Delores Knutson.
Carol A. Paulsen, age 87, of Wall, died Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Visitation was 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23, at the Rush Funeral Chapel in Wall, and one hour preceding the services at the church on Saturday.
Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24, at the United Methodist Church in Wall, with Pastor Jim Cissell officiating.
Interment with Eastern Star Services were in the Wall cemetery.
A memorial is established.

Charles Perault, age 80, of rural Midland, died Thursday, March 15, 2007, at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip.
Charles Perault was born February 11, 1927, northwest of Kadoka, the son of Bert and Clarice (DeWeert) Perault. He moved with his family south of Kadoka, then to Conata. He attended elementary school in Conata, and then in 1942, moved to a ranch south of Stamford. He then attended Kadoka High School, graduating in 1944. After graduation, he returned to the ranch.
Charles was united in marriage to Edith (Bennett) Headlee on April 30, 1975 at Kadoka. Together they resided at the ranch until the time of his death.
Charles liked to travel, hunt, and trap shoot. He won the State Champion Trap Shoot in 1963. Charles enjoyed everything associated with the ranch way of life, as well as his melon patch and apple trees.
Grateful for having shared his life include his wife Edith Perault of Midland; four step-children Dennis Headlee and his wife Melody of DesMoines, Iowa, Vicki Wilson and her husband Stu of Kadoka, Bill Headlee and his wife Norma of Kadoka, and Mary Knight of North Little Rock, Arkansas; a brother Donald "Bud" Perault and his wife Valene of Belvidere; one sister Dona Compton and her husband Oscar of Vancouver, Washington; two nephews Mike Perault and his wife Marlene of Belvidere and Mitch Compton of Scottsdale, Arizona; and niece Dawn Amstutz and her husband Tim of St. Paul, Minnesota; his great-nieces, a great-nephew, and a great-great-nephew. Charles also had ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren who loved "Grandpa Charles"
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Bert and Clarice (DeWeert) Perault.
Visitation was held 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 19, at the Rush Funeral Chapel in Kadoka, and one hour preceding the services at the church on Tuesday.
Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, at the Belvidere Community Church in Belvidere, with Pastor Gary McCubbin officiaiting.
Interment will be in the Kadoka cemetery.
A memorial is established.

James Peterson, age 91, of Philip, died Saturday evening, September 15, 2007, at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip.
James E. Peterson was born July 17, 1916, at his parents' ranch home on Deadman Creek, in the Grindstone area, the son of John Q. and Wilhelmina (Buchholz) Peterson. He received his education at the North Lincoln School in the Grindstone community. As a young man he worked on his parents' ranch, also for various ranchers in the Philip area. He later worked for the WPA in the Grindstone and Ash Creek area.
James was united in marriage to Lucile Dean on September 23, 1940 in Philip. They made their home on the Peterson Ranch near Grindstone until 1947, at which time they purchased the former Dick Mathison ranch three miles east of Philip. James continued to live and work on the ranch all his life.
James served on the school board of the Magnuson #56 School District, was a member of the Stockgrowers Association and R-Calf.
He was devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Ranching was his life.
Grateful for having shared his life include his wife Lucile of Philip; three sons Gary Peterson and his wife Joel of Faith, Roger Peterson and his wife Kathy of Philip, and Darrel Peterson and his wife Anita of Philip; one daughter Doreen Olson and her husband Bob of Austin, Texas; fifteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and seventeen nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson; one great-grandson; one brother John E. Peterson; and four sisters Emma Michael, Mary Culp, Mina Galbraith, and Etta Copps.
Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, at the American Legion Hall in Philip, and one hour preceding the services on Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, at the American Legion Hall with Pastor Mark Ford officiating.
Interment will be in the Masonic cemetery, Philip.
A memorial is established.

Maribelle J. Peterson, age 84, of Philip, died Thursday morning, September 13, 2007, at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip.
Maribelle Josephine Williamson was born April 25, 1923, in Onida, South Dakota, the daughter of John B. and Edith (Bloom) Williamson. She grew up on a farm near Onida and received her education in that area. As a young girl she worked on the family farm.
Maribelle was united in marriage to William Sheets, and to this union were born two sons Anthony "Tony" and Allen. They made their home in Onida until moving to Corvallis, Oregon in 1941. After the boys grew up, Maribelle worked as a cook on cruise ships and ferries out of Bremerton, Washington and Ketchikan, Alaska for several years. She then owned and operated a restaurant in Seattle, Washington. Maribelle moved to Philip, South Dakota, where her father lived.
Maribelle was united in marriage to Ted Peterson on December 26, 1967. They made their home on a ranch southwest of Kadoka. After his death on October 26, 1979, she moved back to Washington. In the late 1980's, Maribelle moved back to Philip, where she has since resided.
Grateful for having shared her life include two sons Anthony "Tony" Ryan and his wife Carol of Bull Shoals, Arkansas, and Allen D. Sheets of Shelton, Washington; two step-daughters Lori O'Rourke and her husband Tom of Interior, and Becky Gropper of Belle Fourche; also step-mother to nine other children, Dorothy, Arthur, Darrell, Jerry, Raymond, Detta, Peggy, Roddy, and Jack Douglas, all from the state of Washington; one grandson Sean Sheets and his wife Melissa of Allyn, Washington; two granddaughters Brenda Draney and her husband Josh, and Anna Ryan, all of Bremerton, Washington; four step-granddaughters Sadie and Whitney O'Rourke of Interior, Jillian Gropper of Vermillion, and Cassie Gropper of Brookings; four great-grandchildren; one sister Betty Janssen of Corvallis, Oregon; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband Ted, Maribelle was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and four sisters.
Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 17, at the Rush Funeral Chapel in Philip, and one hour preceding the services at the church on Tuesday.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 18, at the United Church in Philip, with Pastor Mark Ford officiating.
Interment will be in the Kadoka cemetery.

Krystal Ann Pfeifer
age 24 of Rapid City, South Dakota, formerly of Philip, died April 8, 2008, at her home in Rapid City.
Krystal Ann Pfeifer was born June 15th, 1983 in Rapid City, South Dakota, the daughter of Robert “Barney” and Diane Pfeifer. Krystal better known as “Shortee” to her family and friends grew up and attended school in Philip, South Dakota. She graduated from Philip High School in 2002, where she participated in basketball, volleyball, band, and was very involved in the FFA. She was especially proud of being part of the Philip National Champion FFA Marketing Plan Team. Krystal moved to Rapid City after graduation to work and be closer to her family.

Krystal enjoyed spending time with her family, especially during the holidays, going to the car races and demolition derby’s with her family and friends, working in the service industry, reading books, and baking. Krystal never let anyone else drive ever. She always had to drive and listen to her music. She was always there for her family and friends in the time of need.

Grateful for having shared her life are her parents Diane and Step-father Charles Gittings, Rapid City and her father Robert (Barney) Pfeifer, Philip. Sisters Shelli Dowdy-Hoffland (Lynn), of Gillette, WY, Tammi Williams (Scott) of Rapid City, Step-sister Julie Neugebauer (Greg) of Hermosa, Step-brother Jody Gittings, of Philip, and a special friend Chad Wangen, of Rapid City. She had two nephews Bryan and Derek Dowdy, two nieces Kelsey Dowdy and Hannah Williams, which she spoiled dearly and loved with all her heart, step-nephew Carter Hoffland, two step-nieces Jamie and Taylor Neugebauer and a host of other relatives and friends. She will be truly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Lawrence and Marie Pfeifer, her maternal grandparents Everett and Helen Slovek, a stepbrother Jamie “Spud” Gittings, and step-niece Carrie Hoffland.

Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, with a celebration of life service at 7:00 p.m. all at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Philip.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 11th at the church, with Father Ron Garry as celebrant, and Father Arnold Kari as con-celebrant.

Interment was at the Masonic cemetery in Philip.

Katherine "Kathy" Pfeifle, age 64, of Aberdeen, formerly of Philip, died Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at her home in Aberdeen.
Katherine Margaret Patton was born in Pierre, S.D. on November 18, 1942, to Mabel (Grotta) and Patrick Patton. Kathy grew up on a farm seven miles east of Philip and attended grade school and high school in Philip. Kathy graduated from Philip High School in 1961. After high school she went on to attend college at BHSU in Spearfish for a semester. Prior to returning to Philip, she spent several years in California where her first son Steve was born.
Kathy was united in marriage to Ray Pfeifle on Jan 21st, 1967, in Philip, S.D. and to this union were born five children; Cindy, Randy, Debbi, Pam and Mark Allen. Kathy worked at many cafes and several local businesses. She was also head cook at the Philip school for several years. Kathy then went on to own and operate the Star Drive Inn Cafe with her husband, Ray. Most recently, Kathy worked at the Sale Barn Cafe until her health began to decline. In 2003, Kathy and Ray moved to Aberdeen, S.D. to be closer to their family.
Kathy was an active community member. She volunteered many hours for local activities and was involved with the Scottie booster club. Kathy was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served as president in 1984-85.
Kathy was an active follower of her children's activities and attended many sporting events and school functions. While her children were in school, she was an avid Scotties fan, involving herself in the many sporting activities. Kathy will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Kathy was always noted for her thoughtfulness, cheerful attitude, sense of humor, and ability to make people laugh.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Ray of Aberdeen; their children Steve of California, Cindy Coughlin and her husband Chris of Freehold, New Jersey, Randy Pfeifle and his wife Lisa of Edgerton, Minnesota, Debbi Bumpous and her husband Jeff of Aberdeen, and Pam Pfeifle of Aberdeen, eight grandchildren, Nicole and Abbey Coughlin, Nick and Nathan Pfeifle, Zack and Brandon Bumpous, Shae Miller and Ethan Feist, two brothers, Philip Patton of Orange City, Iowa, and Bill Patton and his wife Lois of Missoula, Montana; two sisters, Patty Fonseca of Scottsbluff, Nebraska and Thelma Heltzel of Philip; and many nieces and nephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel and Patrick Patton, one son, Mark Allen in infancy, one sister, Irene Stoeser, two brothers, John and Robert Patton, two nieces, Linda Stoeser and Laurie Dalton (Patton), two nephews, Pat Heltzel and Jake Pfeifle, four brother-in-laws, Ralph Fonseca, Albert Pfeifle, Alex Stoeser and Jim Heltzel and one sister-in-law, Marty Patton (Hutt).
Visitation was held 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26, at the American Legion Hall in Philip, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 27, at the American Legion Hall in Philip, with Pastor Monty Dell officiating.
Interment was in the Masonic cemetery, Philip.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial is established to the Aberdeen Hospice, 305 S. State St. Aberdeen, SD 57401.
Arrangements are with the Rush Funeral Home of Philip.

Norma Marie Philips
age 91 of Murdo, South Dakota, died March 16, 2008, at the St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre.
Norma Marie Fritz was born August 11, 1916, on a farm in Fayette County, Iowa, the daughter of Ida Marie (Schnor) and Louis Fritz. She attended school in Alpha, Iowa. In November 1936, she married Laurence “Speed” Philips in West Union, Iowa. They moved to Decorah, Iowa, where Speed worked for a dry cleaner. In 1942, when WWII broke out, they went to San Diego, California, where Speed worked in a Douglas Aircraft Factory. After that they moved back to West Union. Norma was a homemaker but did work part time in a restaurant where she was a server in their banquet room. She always had a big garden and loved to raise flowers. In the later years they had a camper and enjoyed camping and fishing, and always went to northern Minnesota for a vacation of fishing with friends and family.
Her husband preceded her in death on March 4, 1986. Norma stayed in West Union for a while then moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa, where her son and daughter-in-law lived.
In 1990, Norma moved to Murdo, South Dakota, and became very active in her church and the Senior Center.
Norma loved to play cards and was happy to play Saturday afternoons with the group from the center. She was an officer for the Senior Center for some time, and enjoyed working with the people there.
Survivors include her son William Philips and his wife Sherry; one daughter Barb Venard, all of Murdo; eight grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Along with her husband Speed, Norma was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Louis Fritz, a son-in-law Lyle Venard; a daughter-in-law Cali Philips, one sister-in-law Pauline McCart, and two brothers-in-law Russell Bemis and Earl McCart.
Visitation was held 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. CDT on Tuesday, March 18 with a rosary service at 7:00 PM CDT at St. Martin's of Tours in Murdo.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, March 19, at 11:00 AM CDT at St. Martin's of Tours in Murdo, SD with Fr. Timothy Castor officiating.
Interment will be June 7, at the Mt. Calvary cemetery in West Union, Iowa.
Arrangements are with the Rush Funeral Home of Philip.

Clifford D. "Cliff" Phillips was born December 1, 1922,at home in Barton County, Missouri, the son of Earl Glenn and Amanda (Ball) Phillips. Cliff grew up and received his first eight years of school at Excelsior Rural School in Iantha, Missouri. He then attended Liberal High School in Liberal Missouri, graduating in 1940.
In March 1943, Cliff entered the United State Army, participating in the Pacific Theatre and Okinawa. He was honorably discharged in March of 1946.
Cliff was united in marriage to Joy Moyer on March 27, 1947 in Crawford, Nebraska. The following day they moved to a ranch north of Midland. Cliff broke up some of the first farm ground north of Midland, in Stanley County. He farmed all his life in Midland, and also hauled cattle and grain before retiring in 1990. Cliff was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Midland. He spent sixteen years on the Midland School Board, which provided him the opportunity to present diplomas to both of his children. He also spent four years on the Haakon County School Board, and served twenty years as a board of director for West Central Electric. He was a member of the Midland Volunteer Fire Department and a fifty-year member of the American Legion Post #143 of Midland. Cliff will be missed by all the people he had the opportunity to meet.
Grateful for having shared his life include his wife Joy of Midland; one son Gary Phillips and his wife Gretchen of Philip; one daughter Debby Hieb and her husband Stacey of Centennial, Colorado; three grandchildren Nicholas Nowlin Phillips of Erie, Colorado, Nathan Graham Phillips of Rapid City, and Amanda Margaret Hieb of Centennial, Colorado; one brother Roger Phillips and his wife Ionia of Liberal, Missouri; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Cliff was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Andrew Phillips as a child, and Don Phillips.
Clifford D. "Cliff" Phillips, age 81, of Midland, died Sunday, June 27, 2004 at his home in Midland.
Closed casket visitation was held 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at the Rush Funeral Home in Philip, and one hour preceding the services at the church on Thursday.
Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2004 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Midland, with Pastor Ann Schlossnagle officiating.
Interment with military honors was in the Midland cemetery.
The family requests memorials directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church of Midland and the Midland Ambulance Service.

Bill Walker was born June 4, 1928, in Wall, SD, the son of Frank and Retha (Waits) Walker.
Bill grew up in the Conata-Interior area and graduated from Wall High School in 1946. After serving in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1948, he moved back to the family ranch to operate it with his parents.
On August 28, 1950, Bill married Marilyn Lytle. To this union three children were born - Harlan, Debbie, and Randy. They ranched and raced horses for many years. Bill was proud of his horses, especially his mare, Willy's Lass, who won thirty-two races.
In August of 1979 Bill and Marilyn sold the ranch and moved to Rapid City. After residing in Rapid City for fourteen years, they moved to Wall in October of 2003. Bill enjoyed rodeos, gardening, planting trees, and woodworking. Bill and Marilyn also kept busy attending all their grandchildren's activities.
Bill was a member of the American Legion Post 22.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn of fifty-three years; his son, Harlan and his wife Lori and their children Chad and Haley; his daughter Debbie Shepard and her husband Randy and their boys Brian, his daughter Sydney, a close friend Kristie Young, and Brady; and his son Randy and his wife Cheryl and their children, Riley, Tyler, Amanda, and Abbie. Bill is also survived by one sister, Retha May Ogle of Gillette, Wyoming; a brother-in-law, Bud Eustrom of Denver, Colorado; several nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Kitty Eustrom.
Bill Walker, 75, Wall, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2004, at Fort Meade Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Sturgis, SD.
Visitation was held from 2:00-6;00 on Sunday, May 16th at the Rush Funeral Home in Wall and one hour prior to the service at the Wall Community Center. The service was at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 17th at the Wall Community Center. with Charlie Hunt officiating
Interment with military honors provided by the Carroll McDonald American Legion Post #246 of Wall and the F.J. Willuweit VFW Post # 9120 of Quinn, was at the Wall cemetery.
A memorial is being established for the Wall High School basketball athletic program.

Timothy Allen Plant
age 31 of Wall, South Dakota, died January 16, 2008, at his home in Wall.
Timothy Allen Plant was born December 15, 1976, the son of Dale and Marilyn (Geigle) Plant. He was born in Cactus Flat, South Dakota, which later earned him the nickname “Cactus”. He grew up and received his education in the Wall area, From the word go, Tim was a very giving person, and would never allow someone to take advantage of someone else. He valued possessions in a unique way, which was to give to those who needed them, rather than to keep for himself.
After his school years, Tim worked as a carpenter in the Rapid City and Wall area, a trade he truly enjoyed. In the fall of 2000, Tim was diagnosed with cancer, which he battled the rest of his life. He would look forward to the times that his health allowed him to continue carpentry work, as well as his other enjoyments, camping, hunting, and fishing. As a kid growing up, Tim enjoyed horseback riding on the prairie of South Dakota, and tried his best to keep a wide variety of pets.
Grateful for having shared his life include his special friend Stacey Daly of Wall; his mother and step-father Marilyn and Jef Wilsey of Creighton; his daughter Shanda Enriquez of Wall; his brother Donnie Plant and his wife Penny of Rapid City; his sister Nancy Tjaden and her daughter Shanea of Port Orchard, Washington; his maternal grandmother Lucille Randolph and her husband Dale of Rapid City; and a host of other relatives and friends.
When his mother married Jef Wilsey, Tim inherited a whole other set of family, which thought the world of Tim. Tim touched their lives in a very special way, and was the one that taught Jef to say “I love you.”
Tim was preceded in death by his father Dale Edwin Plant in 2001, his maternal grandfather Edward Geigle; and his paternal grandparents James and Maude (Parker) Plant.
Memorial services were held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 21, at the First Lutheran Church in Wall, with Pastor Monty Dell officiating.
A memorial is established.
