Effie (Blue Hair) Smith

Colorado Springs, Colo. -- The funeral for Effie (Blue Hair) Smith, 37, of Colorado Springs and formerly of Eagle Butte, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Church of Christ in Cherry Creek. The Rev. Richard Charging Eagle and the Rev. Norman Blue Coat will officiate.

Burial will be in the Congregational cemetery in Cherry Creek with Luce Funeral Home in Eagle Butte in charge of arrangements.

A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.

She died Friday, June 29, 2001, in Colorado Springs.

Effie Patricia Blue Hair was born Sept. 6, 1963, to Robert and Rosina (Eagle Horse) Blue Hair in Eagle Butte. In 1997, she moved to Colorado Springs.

Survivors include four sons, Adrian Smith, Mitch Smith, Quentin Smith and Quillan Smith, all of Colorado Springs; four brothers, Ellery Blue Hair of Sioux Falls, and Erwin Blue Hair, Everlee Blue Hair and Eddie Crow, all of Cherry Creek; four sister, Monica Harold and Celestine Curley, both of Cherry Creek, Mary Miller of Timber Lake and Eveleen Blue Hair of Bismarck, N.D.; and special fiend, Willard Smith of Colorado Springs.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Jeanette (Peterson) Lund

Long Beach, Calif. -- Jeanette Lund, 76, of Long Beach and formerly of Frederick, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, in Long Beach.

Her memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Stricklin-Snively Mortuary in Long Beach.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn in Long Beach.

Jeanette Lucille Peterson was born July 10, 1924, to John and Tynne Peterson of Frederick.

She married T. Ross Lund on March 27, 1947. They lived most of their married life in Long Beach.

Survivors include her husband of Long Beach; one daughter, Linda Groover of Irvine, Calif.; one son, Gregory Lund of Long Beach; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Rosalia Schaffer

Pierre -- The funeral for Rosalia Schaffer, 89, of Pierre and formerly of Aberdeen and Selby, was June 30 at the Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge. The Rev. Bryce Fellbaum officiated.

Burial was in the Selby Memorial Gardens cemetery.

She died Monday, June 25, 2001, at Maryhouse Nursing Care Center in Pierre.

Rosalia Kolasch was born Nov. 7, 1911, to Anton and Magdalena (Bender) Kolasch in Belfield, N.D. She grew up in the Belfield area and helped out on the family farm.

She married Ed Schaffer in October 1940 in Leola. The couple then moved to Selby where she owned and operated a cafe for many years. She moved to Aberdeen and worked at St. Luke's and St. Mary's. She moved to Pierre in 1968 and also worked there. She was currently residing in Pierre at the time of her death.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son.

Roy A. Lenz

Gettysburg -- Mass of Christian burial for Roy A. Lenz, 86, of Gettysburg will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gettysburg. The Rev. Ken Lulf will officiate.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors by the Ralph Leui American Legion Post No. 135 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. Luce Funeral Home in Gettysburg is in charge of arrangements.

A prayer service will be at 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at the Gettysburg Memorial Hospital.

Roy Alvin Lenz was born April 14, 1915, to Herman and Anna (Johnson) Lenz in rural Potter County. He attended a rural school and graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1933. Following graduation he worked on the L.W. 'Mike' Herron farm. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in October 1941 and was stationed in the 2nd Platoon at Fort Knox, Ky. He saw service in the European Theater of Ardennes, Central Europe, Algeria-French Morocco, Sicily, Normandy and Northern France during his four years of service. He was decorated with the American Defense Service Medal and five Overseas Bars. He received his honorable discharge in October 1945, having attained the rank of sergeant. He returned to Potter County and worked for Rose Smith.

He married Lorraine Heck on June 5, 1946, in Gettysburg. They established their home in Gettysburg. He worked for Montana Dakota Utility for 33 years in the Gettysburg area. He was an active member of the Gettysburg Volunteer Fire Department for 26 years and was presented with a Citation of Service upon his retirement. Following his retirement in the 1980s, he and his wife traveled and spent winters in Texas. They also cared for his mother for 9 1/2 years when her health failed. He spent the last years in the Oahe Manor.

He was a member of Ralph Leui American Legion Post No. 135 and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the outdoors and wildlife. He also enjoyed his yard and raised a large garden.

Survivors include his wife of Gettysburg; one son, Dennis Lenz of Gettysburg; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter and two brothers.

Casketbearers will be Randy Glodt, Dan Glodt, Jim Reuer, Dalen Lenz, Dean Simon, Mike Pruitt, Bob Siebrasse and Owen Bakkegard.

Donald D. Hagemann

Stratford -- The funeral for Donald D. Hagemann, 51, of Stratford will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1429 N. Dakota St., Aberdeen. The Rev. Carol Iwerks will officiate.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen with miliary rites by Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post No. 24 of Aberdeen. Schriver's Memorial Mortuary, 414 Fifth Ave. N.W., Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today with the family present from 6 to 7 tonight, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, all at the mortuary. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

He died of cancer Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.

Donald D. Hagemann was born Nov. 9, 1949, to Veryl and Joyce Lavonne (Crow) Hagemann in Madison. He attended grade school in Clark and Aberdeen, and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1969. He served in the U.S. Army from March 1970 to March 1972. He served in Vietnam and was a combat veteran. He returned to Aberdeen in June 1972.

He married Jacque Johnson on Aug. 26, 1972, in Faulkton. They made their home in Aberdeen where he worked at Hub City Inc. (formerly Safeguard Industries) since Feb. 22, 1973. He worked as a machinist until his death.

He loved to hunt, fish and garden.

Survivors include two sons, Kevin Hagemann of Aberdeen, and Scott Hagemann of Seattle; his parents of Aberdeen; one sister, Barbara Wilson of Stacy, Minn.; three brothers, Tom Hagemann of Rapid City, Bill Hagemann of Tea, and John Hagemann of Yankton; his paternal grandmother, Gertrude Crow of Madison, Minn.; and special friend, Jacque Kervin.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, his paternal grandfather, his maternal grandparents and his second wife.

Casketbearers will be Stephen Nordhus, David Murray, Andrew Murray, Bob Enze, Emery Dwarf and Richard Jones.

The family prefers memorials to Alcoholics Anonymous Club House, 519 S. Arch St., Aberdeen, S.D. 57401.

Carl F. Glur

Ashley, N.D. -- The funeral for Carl F. Glur, 81, of Ashley will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Ashley. The Rev. Darwin Kopfmann will officiate.

Burial will be in the Ashley City cemetery with Carlsen Funeral Home in Ashley in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, and for one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

He died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at the Ashley Medical Center.

Carl F. Glur was born Feb. 25, 1920, to George and Katherina (Huether) Glur on a farm near Venturia, N.D. He attended a rural school. In 1928, his parents sold the farm and moved to Ashley. He completed his education and graduated from Ashley High School in 1939. After graduation, he was employed for three years with Walter Doerr Oil Company. He was then employed by Feil's Meat Market where he worked with his father butchering and making fry sausage and bologna.

He married Alvina Dobler on July 4, 1940, in Ashley. After Feils sold the meat market, he went to work for Charlie Fischer's Meat Market in Long Lake for two years. He and his wife worked for Denny Whelon's Meat Processing west of Ellendale, N.D., for three years. During the summer he drove milk truck for the Medina Cheese Company. He spent 21 years in the meat processing business. He then worked at Blumhardt Manufacturing in Ashley in the steel department for nine years. After retirement, he continued to live in Ashley. He helped out at G&G; Chevrolet as a driver and delivery person.

He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Ashley where he served as head usher for many years.

He enjoyed fishing and taking care of his home and yard.

Survivors include one son, Gerald (Mavis) Glur of Ashley; one brother, Edwin H. Glur of Fargo, N.D.; one half sister, Edna Gross of Ashley; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, four half brothers and three half sisters.

Casketbearers will be Ray Goehring, Robert Pfeifle and LaDelle George, all of Ashley, Gregory Glur of Fargo, Edwin H. Glur Jr. of Minneapolis and Gary Feil of Fort Collins, Colo.

Agatha C. (Czmowski) McIntyre

Sioux City, Iowa -- Mass of Christian burial for Agatha C. (Czmowski) McIntyre, 88, of Sioux City and formerly of Webster, will be at 1 p.m. today at Christ the King Catholic Church in Webster. The Rev. John Garvey will officiate.

Burial will be in the Webster cemetery with Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster in charge of local arrangements.

Anderson-Perasso Funeral Home in Sioux City is also handling arrangements.

She died Monday, June 25, 2001, at her home.

Agatha Czmowski was born May 3, 1913, to John and Marie (Zepff) Czmowski on the family farm near Webster in Highland Township, Day County. She attended country school near her home and then two years of parochial school in Webster. She worked for various families in Webster doing housework.

She married Robert McIntyre on May 23, 1936, in Elk Point. They made their home in the Webster area where they farmed. Later they moved to Sioux City where she worked as a housekeeper for various families. He died Sept. 10, 1960. After his death she continued to live in Sioux City until the present time.

Survivors include two brothers, Otto Czmowski of Webster and Leo Mohs of Sioux Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Casketbearers will be Bob Wiley, Roger Stavig, Jim Grimes, Charles Hallstrom, Roman Czmowski and Sonny Larson.

Kenneth Orren Winjum

Winter Haven, Fla. -- Kenneth Orren Winjum, 86, of Winter Haven and formerly of Napoleon, N.D., died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, in Auburndale, Fla.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, Fla.

Kenneth Orren Winjum was born May 16, 1915, in Napoleon. He worked in the area before moving to Florida where he owned and operated Winjum Packaging Supply.

Survivors include his wife, Judith Winjum of Winter Haven; one daughter, Cheryl Becker of Safety Harbor, Fla., two sons, Duane Winjum of Orlando, Fla., and Orren Winjum of Altomont Springs, Fla.; one stepson, Robert Ulland of Wilmington, N.C.; one brother, Jerry Winjum of Lakewood, Colo.; and one grandson.

Ralph A. Ruhoff

Morristown -- Mass of Christian burial for Ralph A. Ruhoff, 67, a longtime Morristown and Watauga area farmer, rancher and dairyman, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Michael's Catholic Church in Watauga. The Rev. Dennis Riss will officiate.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with Evanson-Jensen Funeral Chapel in Lemmon in charge of arrangements.

A parish vigil and rosary service will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the church in Watauga.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Lemmon. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the service Monday at the church in Watauga.

He died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, while haying.

Ralph A. Ruhoff was born Sept. 12, 1933, to Henry and Florence (Hinker) Ruhoff south of Watauga. He grew up on a farm seven miles southwest of Watauga and was educated at the Pioneer School near the farm. At a young age he began working on the farm and for neighbors. He was employed setting grain bins and fencing for the federal government. He later worked on the construction of the Oahe Dam near Pierre.

He married Donna Werner on Sept. 29, 1956, in Watauga. They began their life together on their present farm southeast of Morristown. They farmed and were in the dairy business. In 1993, he began raising cattle. He had open-heart surgery following a heart attack in 1993 and had been in failing health for the past year. He continued to live on the farm until his death.

He served as Pioneer Township Supervisor for 26 years and was a substitute bus driver for the McIntosh School District.

He loved to hunt, trap, fish and play cards. He also collected John Deere and I.H.C. miniature tractors, copies of the ones he owned through the years. He was known for his sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife of rural Morristown; two sons, Tom Ruhoff of Morristown, and Harvey Ruhoff of Lemoor, Calif.; one daughter, Capt. Virginia 'Ginny' Mushenski, U.S. Air Force, Andrews Air Force Base; one brother, John Ruhoff of Morristown; one sister, Rosemary Hoffman of Sheridan, Wyo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother in infancy and one son.

John William Emmett Sr.

Chadron, Neb. -- John William Emmett Sr., 73, of Chadron died Monday, June 25, 2001, in Powell, Wyo.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron. The Rev. Rod Smith will officiate.

Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery in Chadron.

John William Emmett was born July 18, 1927, to Warren and Nellie (McLemore) Emmett in Park County, Wyo.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Emmett of Chadron; one son, John (Cathy) Emmett Jr. of Aberdeen; one daughter, Linda (Gil) Nitsch of Chadron; four brothers, Ned Emmett of Tacoma, Wash., Clarence Emmett of Deaver, Wyo., Charles Emmett of Glendive, Mont., and Jerry Emmett of Billings, Mont.; one sister, Betty Todd of Cody, Wyo.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchil-dren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
