Loyde A. Lewis

Redfield -- The funeral for Loyde A. Lewis, 73, of Redfield will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery in Redfield with full military rites.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and for one hourprior to the service Tuesday, all at the funeral home.

He died Friday, June 22, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare Center in Redfield.

Loyde A. Lewis was born March 13, 1928, to Wilber and Esther (Woodfork) Lewis in Doland. He attended school in Doland and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He married Bernedene Hansen on Sept. 3, 1947, in Redfield. He lived most of his life in Doland and Redfield. He worked for the Chevy Garage, Red Man Gas and SuperAmerica in Redfield. She died in 1994.

He was a past commander of Clay Kiser American Legion Post No. 92.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing and country music.

Survivors include six sons, Allan (Sandy) Lewis of Redfield, Wayne Lewis of Doland, Larry (Sherrie) Lewis of Yankton, Terry Lewis of Tabor, Lonnie (Teresa) Lewis of Aberdeen, and Gary (Peggy) Lewis of Julesburg, Colo.; four daughters, Shirley (Ken) Klipfel of Julesburg, Roxie (Randy Olson) Frericks, Bernadette Lewis, and Brenda (Bobby) Christman, all of Redfield; three brothers, Bob Lewis of New Albin, Iowa, Darrell Lewis of Rapid City and Vince Lewis of Pilger, Neb.; 22 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother, one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Casketbearers will be Rob Lewis, Jimmy Whitley, Bryce Lewis, Jessi Lewis, Shawn Michael Lewis, and Billy Schulz.

John W. Hauck

Albany, Ore. -- Funeral Mass for John W. Hauck, 48, of Albany and formerly of Aberdeen, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albany. The Rev. John Betts will officiate.

AAsum Funeral Home of Albany is in charge of arrangements.

He died Friday, June 8, 2001, at his home.

John W. Hauck was born Feb. 14, 1953, to Edmund George and Mary Catherine (Kipp) Hauck in Aberdeen. He grew up and attended schools in Aberdeen. He graduated from Aberdeen Roncalli High School in 1971. He received his bachelor of arts degree in journalism from South Dakota State University in Brookings. He then worked at the Times in St. Cloud, Minn., and the Argus Leader in Sioux Falls before moving to Albany in December 1982. He worked for the Democrat-Herald, much of the time as the classified advertising department manager. In January of this year he began working as a salesman for the Portland, Ore., office of Register Tape Advertising.

He had been active with the Kiwanis Club of Albany and the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce. He received numerous awards from newspapers.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting at Richmond Lake near Aberdeen. He also enjoyed his cats and dog, photography, computer technology, gardening flowers and shrubs, and traveling. He had visited every state in the union. He was known for his wit, humor and kindness.

Survivors include his wife, Jamila A. Al-Kubati-Hauck of San Francisco.

Earl Larsen

Groton -- The funeral for Earl Larsen, 89, of Groton will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Groton. The Rev. Craig Grams will officiate.

Burial will be in the Union cemetery with Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel in Groton in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel, and for one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.

He died Monday, June 11, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare Center in Groton.

Earl Larsen was born July 1, 1911, to Hans and Carrie (Larsen) Larsen in Ida Grove, Iowa. He attended country schools in Hartley, Iowa. In 1935, he moved to Pierpont where he worked until 1940. He returned to the family farm in Iowa and worked for six years before moving to Groton.

He married Hilda Lenling on Dec. 21, 1954, in Webster. The couple made their home in Groton while he worked on the Arden Rix and Lawrence Rohwer farms for 22 years, retiring in 1970. He and his wife raised large gardens and donated produce to friends, family and the Salvation Army in Aberdeen. She died June 1, 1998.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Groton.

Survivors include two sisters, Irene Sheeder of Boise, Idaho, and Lillian Mitchell of Bell Flower, Calif.; and one brother, Elmer Larsen of Sioux City, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and nine brothers and sisters.

Casketbearers will be David Dohman, Les Dohman, Mike McNamara and Ken Price.

Memorials may be sent to St. John's Lutheran Church, 308 N. Second St., Groton, S.D. 57445.

Helen Pence

Aberdeen -- The memorial service for Helen Pence, 88, of Aberdeen will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St. The Rev. Carol Iwerks will officiate.

Burial will of her cremains will be in Riverside cemetery.

She died Sunday, June 10, 2001, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor.

Helen Pansegrau was born Oct. 7, 1912, to Albert F. and Emma B. (Schoppe) Pansegrau in Aberdeen. She attended school in Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School. She then attended Aberdeen Business College. She worked at McKeever Press, the Chamber of Commerce and the First National Bank of Aberdeen.

She married Frank T. Pence in 1955 in Spearfish. They resided on his farm south of Frederick. They spent their winters in the South and summers on a farm. He died in 1975. She continued to reside in the South during the winters and lived on a farm during the summers until 1985, when she moved to Mesa, Ariz. In 1992, she moved back to Aberdeen due to ill health.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She was active in many activities at Avera Mother Joseph Manor, and especially enjoyed playing bingo.

Survivors include two stepsons, Eugene H. (Harriet) Pence and Robert L. (Valley) Pence, both of Frederick; one stepdaughter, Dorothy (Leonard) Lahr of Frederick; seven stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three stepgrandchildren.

Janet Griffin

Marshalltown, Iowa -- Janet Griffin, 92, of Marshalltown died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center.

Her graveside service will be at 11 a.m. today in the Ellendale, N.D., City cemetery. The Rev. Don Brown will officiate.

Hoven Funeral Chapel of Ellendale is in charge of arrangements.

Janet Little was born June 28, 1908, to Archibald and Maude (Bealby) Little in rural Nortonville, N.D. She was raised and educated in the Nortonville area. She received her teaching certificate from North Dakota Teachers College. She taught from 1928 to 1942 in Nortonville and at a private school in Chicago.

She married Everett Glenn Griffin on May 8, 1945, in Aberdeen. They moved to Marshalltown. He died in 1992.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Marshalltown Federated Women's Club, 20th Century Club, P.E.O., Order of the Eastern Star, White Shrine of Jerusalem, Grand Cross of Colors, Society of Christian Service, past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star and past president of Marshalltown Women's Club. She also taught Sunday school at the church.

Survivors include one son, Robert Griffin of Marshalltown; one daughter, Mary Ann (Robert) Lemon of Ottumwa, Iowa; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and two sisters.

Gertrude 'Gert' Pulver

Linton, N.D. -- The funeral for Gertrude 'Gert' Pulver, 71, of Linton will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Peace Lutheran Church in Linton. The Rev. Frederick Henkelmann will officiate.

Her graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. MDT in the Beulah City cemetery in Beulah, N.D. The Rev. Kris Nyman will officiate.

Myers Funeral Home of Linton is in charge of arrangements.

She died of cancer on Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at the Linton Hospital.

Gertrude Strecker was born June 15, 1929, to Jacob and Kathryn (Schultz) Strecker at Beulah. She attended grade school and high school in Beulah.

She married Leonard Pulver on Dec. 6, 1947, at Hazen, N.D. They spent a short time in Michigan before moving to Beulah in 1949. They moved to Linton in 1975.

She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and the Linton Country Club.

She enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening, walking and reading.

Survivors include her husband of Linton; five daughters, JoAnne (Ernest) Skalsky and Sandi (Maynard) Blohm, both of Beulah, Patti (Mike) Schatz of New England, N.D., Susan (John K.) Horner of Linton and Kristi (Darryl) Cross of Plano, Texas; two brothers, Erwin Strecker of Heber Springs, Ark., and George Strecker of Frederick, Colo.; one sister, Florence Myers of Maple Valley, Wash.; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson and one brother.

Casketbearers will be Jon Blazek, Jason DelaBarre, Jeremy Horning, Mike Doe, Francis Pulver and Jim Pulver.

Josephine Joey' Seymour

Pollock -- The funeral for Josephine 'Joey' Seymour, 81, of Pollock will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Pollock Memorial Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Floyd Haan will officiate.

Burial will be in the Spring Valley cemetery with Myers Funeral Home of Linton, N.D., in charge of arrangements.

She died Monday, June 4, 2001, at her home.

Josephine Bootsma was born Feb. 6, 1920, to Henry and Gertrude (Bauma) Bootsma on the family homestead near Pollock. She attended grade school in Pollock and graduated from Pollock High School.

She married Harold Seymour on Sept. 23, 1939, at Linton. They made their home on a farm northwest of Pollock. In 1956, they moved into Pollock and continued to farm. He died Oct. 7, 1999.

She was a member of Pollock Memorial Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed cooking and animals.

Survivors include three sons, Jerry Seymour of Aberdeen, Rich (Kathy) Seymour and Frank (Sonja) Seymour, both of Pollock; three daughters, Bonnie (Ken) Wike and Sandy (Donnie) Quenzer, both of Aberdeen, and Sylvia (Jerry) Huizenga of Linton; one brother, Harold Bootsma of Kansas City, Kan.; 17 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister and one brother.

Casketbearers will be Brad Seymour, Jim Wike, Shannon Seymour, Chad Seymour, Jeremy Huizenga, Bronson Seymour, Matt Quenzer and Tonya Seymour Hotley.

Teresa Weisbeck

Herreid - Mass of Christian burial for Teresa Weisbeck, 88, of Herreid will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Herreid. The Rev. Paul Cervinski will officiate.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. Kesling Larson Funeral Home of Mobridge is in charge of arrangements.

A scriptural wake service will be at 8 tonight at the church. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.

She died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital. Teresa Weinzirl was born on Jan. 13, 1913, to Karl and Mary (Stellflug) Weinzirl in Campbell County. She graduated from Herreid High School in 1931. She worked as a store clerk and in various homes. She married John Weisbeck on June 21, 1933. They rented various farms before purchasing the Jake Aldinger farmstead in 1946. They moved to Herreid in 1960. For the past few years, she has lived at the Prairie Sunset Village and the Beverly Healthcare Center in Mobridge.

She was a member of the Rosary making Club, a past band chairman and president of the Altar Society and a past secretary of the Herreid Senior Citizens group. She did volunteer work for the Good Samaritan Home and was the organist and choir director at St. Michael's Catholic Church from 1958 until 1988, when she retired. She was involved in sewing vestments and stoles, and making altar boy cossacks. She enjoyed gardening, reading and doing crafts.

Survivors include three sons, Mark (Esther) Weisbeck of Herreid, John (Nam) Weisbeck of Rapid City and Rodney (Lena) Weisbeck of Sioux Falls; two daughters, Monica Weisbeck of Lead and Janet (John) Madden of Rock Rapids, Iowa; three brothers, Al Weinzirl of Lodi, Calif., Joe (Ella) Weinzirl of Herreid and Arnold (Betty) Weinzirl of Minnesota; five sisters, Gert O'Meara of Fairmont, N.D., Helen (Don) Wilmes of Richardton, N.D., Mary Ann (Bob) Lindaure, Baden, Penn., Stella (Bernard) Nelson of Mobridge and Elizabeth (Hope) Steele of California; 20 grandchildren and 35 great-grand- children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and one sister.

Casketbearers will be Mark Weisbeck, Jr., Paul Weisbeck, Johnnie Weisbeck, Nick Hawkinson, Mike Tanner and Dan Weisbeck.

Winifred Sevrens

Selby - The funeral for Winifred Sevrens, 86, of Selby will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Mobridge. The Rev. Gary Street will officiate.

Burial will be in Selby Memorial Garden. Kesling Larson Funeral Home of Mobridge is in charge of arrangements.

She died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital. Winifred Fansler was born on Oct. 27, 1914, to William and Edna Fansler in Mobridge. The family moved to Sitka, where she attended the Wayside school from 1920 to 1928.

She married Earl 'Bud' Sevrens on March 10, 1934, in Herreid. They lived on a farm in the Selby area.

She enjoyed reading and embroidery.

Survivors include one son, Ronald Sevrens and one daughter, Beverly (Larry) Anderson, both of Selby; two sisters, Virginia Tucker and Evelyn Vojta, both of Mobridge; three grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, step father, one sister and one brother.

Casketbearers will be Ken Casey, Elmer Reuer, Modeste Marin, George Turner, Ralph Kulm and Emil Perman.
