Emilia Diede

Leola - The funeral for Emilia Diede, 97, of Leola will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Leola. The Rev. Raymond Pomplun will officiate.

Burial will be in Green Mound cemetery in Leola. Hein Funeral Home of Ipswich is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in Ipswich and for one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church in Leola.

She died on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at the Beverly Healthcare Center in Ipswich.

Emilia Kallenberger was born May 9, 1904, to Baldser and Johana (Kuzmaul) Kallenberger in McPherson County. She attended country school near Hosmer.

She married Hugo Diede on Jan. 11, 1927. They farmed southeast of Leola. After their retirement, they moved into Leola. He died in 1965. In 1986, she entered the Beverly Healthcare Center in Ipswich.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ipswich.

Survivors include four daughters, Viola (Raymond) Liedle of Aberdeen, Bernetta (LeRoy) Browes of Cambridge, Minn., Betty (Lee) Farm of Camp Sherman, Ore., and Norma (Charles) Hoffman of Leola; four sons, Roy (Pat) Diede of Salem, Ore., Harvey (Nancy) Diede of Mina, Melvin Diede of Sublimity, Ore., and Roger Diede of Independence, Ore.; 33 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, eight brothers and sisters and one grandchild.

Charles P. Baumgartner

Bismarck, N.D. - The funeral for Charles P. Baumgartner, 57, of Bismarck will be at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Mary's Church in Hague, N.D. The Rev. Leonard Eckroth will officiate.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. Myers Funeral Home of Linton, N.D., is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service today at the church.

He died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck.

Charles P. Baumgartner was born June 4, 1944, to Joseph J. and Cecilia (Hulm) Baumgartner near Hague. He attended school in Hague. He lived in Grafton, N.D., and Mandan, N.D., before moving to Bismarck in 1976.

He was employed by HITT and Pride Industries.

He enjoyed bowling, dancing, camping and spending time with his dog Angel.

Survivors include four brothers, Adam (Shirley) Baumgartner and Walter (Lea) Baumgartner, both of Hague, James (Sharon) Baumgartner of Reliance, and Joe F. (Emilia) Baumgartner of Bismarck.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.

Casketbearers will be his nephews.

Kathryn Hiett

Ridgeview -- Kathryn Hiett, 92, of Ridgeview died Friday, July 13, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare Center in Mobridge. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at All Saints Catholic Church in Eagle Butte. The Rev. Anthony Kluckman and BrotherFrank Presto will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic cemetery in Ridgeview. Luce Funeral Home in Eagle Butte is in charge of arrangements.

A rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Kathryn Hagel was born Feb. 24, 1909, to Andrew and Christine (Goetz) Hagel in Harvey, N.D. In 1909, she moved with her family to Bow, Alberta, Canada, before returning to Harvey in 1915. In 1917, the family moved to the Eagle Butte area near Parade. She attended the Van Brocklyn School near Parade. The family then purchased land northwest of Ridgeview in 1921. She attended school at Mosman and later at LaPlant. She worked on the family farm until 1934.

She married Dial Keckler in 1934. They lived on the Diamond 'A' Farm. He died June 10, 1945.

She married Chuck Hiett in 1947 in Miles City, Mont. They lived in Ridgeview. For the past year she had been a resident of the Beverly Healthcare Center of Mobridge. He died Aug. 31, 2000.

Survivors include four sons, Billy Keckler of Shreveport, La., Jim (Rita) Keckler of Sioux Falls, Dan (Janet) Keckler of Ridgeview and Bob (Arliss) Keckler of Eagle Butte; one daughter, Audrey (Red) Traversie of Ridgeview; 26 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, two daughters and six brothers.

Casketbearers will be Francis West, Billy Keckler, Charlie Keckler, Dean Keckler, Scott Keckler and Dustin Ward.

Pearl Emiline Harrison

Sturgis -- Pearl Emiline Harrison, 85, of Sturgis and formerly of Ellendale, N.D., and Forbes, N.D., died Friday, July 13, 2001, at Sturgis Community Long Term Care Center.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Presbyterian United Methodist Church in Ellendale. The Rev. Mary Ann Sheldon will officiate.

Burial will be in the Ellendale cemetery. Hoven Funeral Chapel in Ellendale is in charge of local arrangements.

A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel.

Kinkade Funeral Chapel of Sturgis is also in charge of arrangements.

Pearl Davis was born Dec. 15, 1915, to Orrin and Josphine (Sherman) Davis in Ellendale.

She married Milford 'Bill' Harrison of Forbes on March 30, 1937. They farmed four miles east of Forbes for 25 years. They moved to Ellendale in 1976. In 1992, she moved to Sturgis to be closer to her family.

Survivors include two sons, Jim (Rita) Harrison of Sturgis and Kenneth (Alta) Harrison of Galt, Calif.; one daughter, Carol (Jim) Bilbrey of Circle Pines, Minn.; six brothers, Warren 'Shorty' Davis of Piedmont, Eugene Davis and Vernon Davis, both of Stockton, Calif., Al Davis of Everett, Wash., Dale Davis of Ellendale and Don Davis of Rover, Ark.; one sister, Elsie Juencke of Stockton; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, one brother and one sister.

Betty Kessler

Wenatchee, Wash. -- The funeral for Betty Kessler, 72, of Wenatchee and formerly of Mobridge, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at United Congregational Church in Mobridge. The Rev. Keith Kraft will officiate.

Burial will be in the Mobridge City cemetery with Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge in charge of arrangements.

A prayer service will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the conclusion of the prayer service Sunday at the funeral home. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.

She died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at a Wenatchee assisted living center.

Betty Bernice Christman was born April 27, 1929, to Jacob and Lydia (Junker) Christman near Eureka.

She married Elroy E. Kessler on July 20, 1947, in Eureka. In 1961, they moved to Mobridge and in 1989, she moved to Washington to be closer to her family.

She was a member of the Mobridge Moose Club, Mobridge Eagles Club and the Mobridge Veterans of Foreign Wars.

She enjoyed music, waltzes and playing Bingo.

Survivors include four sons, Charles (Chong-Ju) Kessler of Rome, N.Y., Thomas Kessler of Santa Rosa, Calif., Rodney (LueAnn) Kessler of Buffalo, Wyo., and Ricky (Kathy) Kessler of Dallas; one daughter, Karla (Loren) Grody of Wenatchee; one brother, Marvin Christman of Eureka; two sisters, Lorraine Libis of Fargo, N.D., and Darlene Beckler of Lodi, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters and one granddaughter.

Casketbearers will be Jack Kessler, Les Rau, Helmuth Eisenbeisz, Darrin Kessler, Derrick Kessler and David Libis.

Kira Marie Schlink

Aberdeen -- The graveside service for Kira Marie Schlink, infant daughter of Dale and Kim Schlink of Aberdeen, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hillview cemetery in Westport. The Rev. Ron Jensen will officiate.

Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Kira Maria Schlink was born Thursday, July 12, 2001, to Dale and Kim (VanDover) Schlink at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Survivors include her parents of Aberdeen; one brother, Montgomery Gondolfi of California; two sisters, Elizabeth VanDover and Hayley Schlink, both of Aberdeen; maternal grandparents, Phil and Kay VanDover of Aberdeen; paternal grandparents, Glenn and Judy Schlink of Topeka, Kan.; great-grandparents, Edgar and Marge Wipf and Orpha Seelbach, all of Aberdeen, Amy VanDover of Westport and Helen Schlink of Topeka, Kan.

Kim L. Bertsch

Sisseton -- Kim L. Bertsch, 40, of Sisseton died Thursday, July 12, 2001, at Fargo Merit Care Hospital in Fargo, N.D.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in McIntosh. The Rev. Ben Motis will officiate.

Burial will be in Chance cemetery south of Meadow with Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon in charge of arrangements.

A family service will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in Lemmon.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in Lemmon and for one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church in McIntosh.

Kim Lee Bertsch was born May 3, 1961, to Marvin and Donna (Miles) Bertsch in Sisseton. He grew up in McIntosh, where he attended elementary and high school, graduating in 1979. He then attended Stewart's School of Cosmetology in Aberdeen for two years and received his license. He worked in beauty salons in Sioux Falls and Pierre for several years. He later worked as a waiter in restaurants in various places.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in McIntosh.

He liked to cook various foods and try new recipes.

Survivors include his parents of McIntosh; one brother, Korby Bertsch of Sisseton; and three sisters, Tammy Klein of Bismarck, N.D., Edie Grefsrud of Fargo and Janet Gehring of Spearfish.

Harriet Jane Bozzell

Huron -- The funeral for Harriet Jane Bozzell, 54, of Huron and formerly of Aberdeen will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, 1500 E. Melgaard Road, Aberdeen. The Rev. Harold E. Salem will officiate.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen with Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen, in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.

She died of natural causes Thursday, July 11, 2001, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Harriet Jane Suiter was born Sept. 5, 1946, to Robert and Esther (Heupel) Suiter in Aberdeen. She grew up and was educated in Aberdeen. She graduated from Aberdeen Central in 1964. Following her education, she moved to Virginia and worked for the Virginia Tax Department.

She married Bobby Bozzell on Dec. 17, 1965, in Richmond, Va. They moved to Aberdeen in 1968, and in 1971 moved to Huron. She lived in Huron until the time of her death. They took care of foster children over the years.

She was active at the Salvation Army in Huron. She enjoyed reading, writing and listening to religious music.

Survivors include her husband of Huron; one son, Chad (Amy) Bozzell of Madison; one guardian son, Scott Hemmingson of Huron; three brothers, Jerry Suiter of Simi Valley, Calif, LeRoy Suiter of Victorville, Calif., and Roger Suiter of Frisco, Colo.; two sisters, Kathleen Samuelson and Judy Dabney, both of Aberdeen.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Casketbearers will be Jon Dabney, Brian Burckhartzmeyer, Jesse Suiter, Chris Samuelson, Brad Samuelson, Don Heupel, Mark Heupel and Duane Heibult.

Jeanette Sigdestad

Webster -- The funeral for Jeanette Sigdestad, 85, of Webster will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bergen Lutheran Church in Bristol. The Rev. Vernon E. Severson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Mohs Funeral Home in Webster in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 7to 9 tonight at the funeral home in Webster. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church in Bristol.

She died Monday, July 2, 2001, in Redlands, Calif.

Jeanette Hayenga was born June 6, 1916, to Cornelius and Christine (Bakken) Hayenga in Andover. She attended and graduated from Andover High School. She received her college education at Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen. She taught for six years in the Bristol-Pierpont area.

She married Clarence Sigdestad on Oct. 22, 1942, in Andover. They made their home on the Sigdestad homestead in Lynn Township until 1973, when they retired. Two years later they moved to Webster.

She was an active member of Bergen Lutheran Church where she provided flowers from her garden for the altar during the summer for 27 years. After moving to Webster she became a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she remained active.

Her hobbies included sewing, gardening and cooking. She was known for her kindness and thoughtfulness.

Survivors include one son, Leonard Sigdestad of San Bernardino, Calif.; two daughters, Ann Marie (Larry) Willette of Chelmsford, Mass., and Janet (Bob) Dedrickson of Groton; one sister, Thressie Zimmerman of Bristol; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Casketbearers will be Larrie Zimmerman, John Edward Sigdestad, David Sigdestad and Clarence Dedrickson.
