Irene Wolfgram

Conde -- Mass of Christian burial for Irene Wolfgram, 90, of Conde and formerly of Turton, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church in Conde. The Rev. Dan Wolfgram will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic cemetery in Turton with Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel in Groton in charge of arrangements.

A wake service will be at 7 tonight at the church in Conde.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, and for one hour prior to the service Saturday, all at the church in Conde.

She died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare Center in Groton.

Irene Louise LaBrie was born Aug. 29, 1910, to Anatole 'Ben' and Frances (Klapperich) LaBrie in Turton. She attended the Little Flower Convent School in Turton and then assisted her family farming the LaBrie homestead near Turton.

She married Lee Wolfgram on July 5, 1943, in Turton. They farmed until the early 1950s, and then moved to Turton where her husband worked for the Chicago and NorthWestern railroad. They moved to Onida in 1974 to be closer to his railroad assignment, and then moved to Conde in 1979 when he retired. She was injured by a fall prior to her marriage which limited her activities. She became housebound in the mid-1980s. Her nephew, Don LaBrie of Aberdeen, helped to take care of her.

She enjoyed hosting family reunions.

Survivors include one daughter, Debbie Wolfgram of Jackson, Miss.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one son in infancy, one brother and four sisters.

Casketbearers will be Rick Rainford, Donald Rahm, Kenneth Fortin, Richard Barrie, Jim Mannie and Ronald Frazier.

Memorials may be sent to the Turton cemetery Association, P.O. Box 134, Turton, S.D. 57477.

Rose Ernst

Roscoe -- The funeral for Rose Ernst, 95, of Roscoe will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Roscoe. The Rev. Winfried Schroeder will officiate.

Burial will be in the Morningside cemetery in Roscoe with Miller Funeral Home in Bowdle in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Bowdle. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the service Friday at the church in Roscoe.

She died Monday, July 2, 2001, at the Hosmer Senior Citizens Home.

Rose Schick was born Aug. 29, 1905, to Rosina (Oster) and William Schick on a farm near Bowdle. She was raised in the Bowdle area and attended rural school. She helped on the farm and at home following her education.

She married Emil Ernst on Dec. 13, 1925, in Hosmer. They lived and farmed on his family homestead 4 1/2 miles west of Roscoe. He died Oct. 1, 1981. The next spring, she moved into Roscoe. This is where she lived until entering the Hosmer Senior Citizens Home Sept. 2, 2000.

She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Roscoe and the Ladies Aid. She also belonged to the Roscoe Senior Citizens.

She enjoyed growing flowers and cooking.

Survivors include two sons, Lloyd A. (Ardella) Ernst of Gainesville, Va., and LeRoy H. (Arlene) Ernst of Bismarck, N.D.; one sister, Mathilda Kirschenmann of Roscoe; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, two brothers and five sisters.

Casketbearers will be her grandchildren.

Armada Reindl

Eagle Butte -- The funeral for Armada Reindl, 'Winyan Wakanwin' (Holy Woman), 64, of Eagle Butte will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Cherry Creek Gym. The Rev. Richard Charging Eagle, Deacon Dora Bruguier and the Mennonite group will officiate.

Burial will be in the Episcopal cemetery in Cherry Creek with Luce Funeral Home in Eagle Butte in charge of arrangements.

A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the gym.

She died of natural causes Saturday, June 30, 2001, at the Indian Health Services Hospital in Eagle Butte.

Armada Wanita Blue Arm was born March 5, 1937, to Lacey Blue Arm One Skunk in Cherry Creek. She attended the Cherry Creek Day School and then the Old Cheyenne Agency as far as the eighth grade.

She married Paul Reindl of Wisconsin on April 8, 1958, in Rapid City. In 1964, she returned to Cherry Creek and worked at the Cherry Creek Store until the store burned down. She then worked for Pete and Faye Longbrake and Louie and Maryann Knight. In later years due to her long-term illness she moved to Eagle Butte where she resided until the time of her death.

She was involved in church, was a Bible school teacher, and was a member of the Mothers Club, Women's Veterans Auxiliary and the Indian Club.

She enjoyed crocheting, making star quilts, playing the organ and piano for church services, and singing gospel songs.

Survivors include three sons, Mathew P. (Nancy) Reindl, Mark B. (Diane) Reindl and Maris R. (Kathy) Reindl; two daughters, Marletta W. (Bob) Reindl Harding and Bonnie Martinez of Sterling, Colo.; two sisters, Delores Curley and Lucinda Janis; 13 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her mother, her stepfather, two brothers and one grandson.

Fred Lutz

Mobridge - The funeral for Fred Lutz, 85, of Mobridge will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Congregational Church in Mobridge. The Rev. Keith Kraft will officiate.

Burial will be in the Greenwood cemetery with Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge in charge of arrangements.

A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Visitation will be from 4:30 p.m. Sunday until the conclusion of the prayer service at the funeral home. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.

He died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.

Fred Lutz was born on Aug. 25, 1915, to August and Mathilda (Siegle) Lutz in Selby. At age 2, he moved with his family to a farm 15 miles southeast of Isabel. He attended rural Boehler-Lutz School. He lived and worked on the family farm and also worked at the Isabel Coal Mine. From 1935 to 1937, he was a member of the Conservation Corps Camps. He then worked on a farm and a ranch near Chamberlain from 1938 to 1940. On June 20, 1941, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he was a truck driver and rifleman. He spent one year and nine months overseas in the Aleutians Islands and was honorably discharged on Oct. 8, 1945 as a Tec 5. He received a service stripe, good conduct medal, American Defense ribbon, Asian-Pacific Theater ribbon and a Bronze Star. He then worked as a truck driver for Fred Beitelspacher in Lowry for two years.

He married Millie Holzwarth on March 8, 1948 in Lowry. They did carpentry work. In 1951, they moved to a farm near Lowry, where they lived for 25 years. In 1975, they sold the farm and moved to Mobridge. He worked as a carpenter and for Mobridge High School as a janitor and school bus driver before retiring in 1981.

He was a member of United Congregational Church in Mobridge, where he was an usher and a trustee. He was also on the Lowry School board for 12 years.

He enjoyed having coffee with friends and yard and gardening work.

Survivors include his wife of Mobridge; four sons, Lyle (Judy) Lutz, Merle (Linda) Lutz and Darwin (Deb) Lutz, all of Mobridge, and Neal (Pam) Lutz of Everett, Wash.; three daughters, Inez (Ben) Grismer of Aberdeen; Darlis Lutz of Mobridge and Monica (Cliff) Rubens of Rocklin, Calif.; one sister, Tillie Walth of Mobridge; and one brother, Raymond Lutz of Mobridge; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and three sisters.

Casketbearers will be Lyle Lutz, Merle Lutz, Darwin Lutz, Neal Lutz, Ben Grismer, Chad Grismer and Nathan Lutz.

Lyle E. Wirth

Sioux Falls - Lyle E. Wirth, 89, of Sioux Falls and formerly of Aberdeen, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at his home.

His graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Hills of Rest Memorial Park in Sioux Falls.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hope Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls.

George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Lyle Elwood Wirth was born June 16, 1912, to Theodore and Cora (Siegel) Wirth in Lamartine, Wis.

He married Ruth Crotser on Sept. 25, 1946. He worked in sales with Firestone during World War II. He lived most of his life in the Midwest and traveled during his career with International Harvester. She died Jan. 22, 1970.

He married Ione (Christensen) Tillema on Jan. 16, 1971. In 1975, he started a coffee service in Aberdeen. He retired in 1982 and moved to Sioux Falls.

He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife of Sioux Falls; two sons, Ralph (Bettye) Wirth of Trail, Ore., and John (Gail) Wirth of Los Angeles; two daughters, Nancy (Richard) Walker of Spokane, Wash., and Marie (Rick) Kivela of Houston; two stepsons, Scott (Debra) Tillema of Sioux Falls and Mark (Jayne) Tillema of Simi Valley, Calif.; three stepdaughters, Christine (Rob) Denicola of Lincoln, Neb., Suzanne (Frank) Felton, of Alta, Wyo., and Catherine (John) Allan of Rapid City; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son.

Mable I. Hagen

Scottsdale, Ariz. - The funeral for Mable I. Hagen, 92, of Scottsdale and formerly of Britton, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Lutheran Church in Britton. The Rev. Mary Hansen will officiate.

Burial will be in the Britton cemetery with Price Funeral Chapel in Britton in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel, and for one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.

She died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at her home.

Mable Irene Hagen was born Jan. 21, 1909, to Oscar C. and Emma C. (Newman) Erickson in Alcester. She grew up and attended school in Alcester. She was proud to have been able to play girls' basketball in high school. She was orphaned at age 16, at which time she moved in with her foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.O. Pierson. She graduated from Alcester High School in 1926. After graduation she worked for a year in Sioux City, Iowa. She also attended Eastern State Normal School (which later became Dakota State University) in Madison and graduated with a teaching certificate. She then moved back to the Britton area and taught at one of the Pleasant Valley Township Schools and at Nordland No. 1.

She married Albert Hagen on June 4, 1931, in Alcester. After they were married they moved to his farm near Lake City. They continue to live and farm near Lake City until 1974, when they moved into Britton.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Britton, where she was active in the Women of Evangelical Lutheran Churches in America. She was also a 4-H leader and was active in a Marshall County Extension club for many years. For a number of years she attended an exercise group and canasta group in Lake City. She had belonged to the Marshall County Retired Teachers Association and the Rebekahs. In her younger years she served on a county education board that was instrumental in selecting textbooks and curriculum used in Marshall County schools.

She enjoyed quilting, crocheting afghans, raising flowers, fishing and, most of all, reading. She was especially fond of poetry.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Nelson of Britton, and Maxine (Claude) Spears of Boise, Idaho; one son, Earl (Midge) Hagen of Phoenix; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-great- grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her foster parents, her husband, two sisters, two brothers and one infant great-grandson.

Casketbearers will be Daryl Nelson, Rodney Nelson, Mark Hagen, Michael Hagen, Harvey Buhl and Jim Hagen.

Peter Bauer Jr.

Pollock - The funeral for Peter Bauer Jr., 84, of Pollock will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pollock Lutheran Church. The Rev. Stan Kwiecien will officiate.

Burial will be in Spring Creek cemetery with Myers Funeral Home of Linton, N.D., in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home in Linton. There will also be visitation from 5 to 9 tonight and from 9 a.m. Thursday until the time of service, all at the church in Pollock.

He died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, in Bismarck, N.D.

Peter Bauer was born March 9, 1917, to Peter and Wilhelmina (Salzer) Bauer Sr. in Gale, S.D. He moved with his parents to a farm west of Pollock where he attended country school. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps.

He married Mabel Gladys Reierson on Dec. 5, 1940. He served in the armed forces during World War II, where he earned a Purple Heart during the Battle of the Bulge. After several years of farming, he owned and operated Bauer Trucking.

He was a member of Pollock Lutheran Church and the Walter West American Legion Post No. 272.

Survivors include two sons, Butch (Nikki) Bauer and Paul Bauer, both of Rapid City; four daughters, Bonnie Vander Laan of Pollock, Judy (Larry) Martin of Avondale, Ariz., Renee Straley of Denver and Paulette (Scott) Hague of Mandan, N.D.; his former wife; two sisters, Katie Vander Vorste of Custer and Jean Vander Laan of Pollock; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, four brothers, two sisters, and three brothers who died in infancy.

Casketbearers will be Ort Dykema, Ross Martin, Chad Martin, Michael Martin, Larry J. Martin, Glenn Straley Jr., Chad Wittmeier and Douglas Wittmeier.
