Sharon 'Sherri' K. Norton

Aberdeen - The funeral for Sharon "Sherri" K. Norton, 55, of Aberdeen will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Zion Lutheran Church, 1732 S. Main St. The Rev. Gene Peterson will officiate.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, and from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, all at the funeral home. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

She died of natural causes Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital.

Sharon K. Kuhfeld was born July 9, 1946, to Ervin and Katie (Cooper) Kuhfeld in Aberdeen. She was raised in Aberdeen, where she attended school. She graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1965. She attended Stewart's School of Hair Design and was a licensed cosmetologist. She was then employed at The Flair and Adam & Eve salons.

She married Howard Norton on June 1, 1968, in Aberdeen. They made their home in Aberdeen. She continued to work as a cosmetologist until she had children and stayed home to raise her family. In 1984, she went to work at Control Data and was employed there until it closed. She continued to make Aberdeen her home until December 1988, when they moved to Richmond Lake. This is where she resided until the time of her death.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

She loved to knit, crochet and do crafts. She was an avid race fan and supported her family members when they raced. She also raced at Brown County Speedway for several years.

Survivors include her husband of Aberdeen; one son, Jay (Krista) Norton of Omaha, Neb.; one daughter, Kimberly (Robert) Bitz of Aberdeen; her parents of Aberdeen; one brother, Donn Kuhfeld of Mina; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Casketbearers will be nephews: Shawn Norton, Chad Norton, Ron Pasch, Burno Kuhfeld, David Meidinger and Garry Meidinger.

Bette E. Engle

Aberdeen - The memorial service for Bette E. Engle, 78, of Aberdeen will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the Arcadia Unit of ManorCare Health Services. The Rev. Royal Archer will officiate.

Her body was cremated.

Spitzer-Osthus Funeral Home, 320 Sixth Ave. S.E., is in charge of arrangements.

She died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at ManorCare Health Services.

Bette E. Nein was born May 5, 1923, to John and Frances (Burris) Nein in Delaware, Ohio.

She married Roydon Engle on Oct. 2, 1946, in Detroit. She was an accountant for the U.S. Coast Guard Exchange in Traverse City, Mich., before working as a realtor for Boardman Realty Company. She then opened Swansdown Needlecraft in the Logan's Landing complex. They lived in Traverse City for 40 years before they moved to Aberdeen to be near their daughter.

She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, where she served two terms as president.

She was an accomplished organist. She also enjoyed playing bridge, needlepoint and reading.

Survivors include her husband of Aberdeen; one daughter, Jan (John) Weaver of Aberdeen; one sister, Marguerite Yerke of Roscommon, Mich.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, three brothers and five sisters.

Frances Juanita Luken

Watertown - Frances Juanita Luken, 68, of Watertown and formerly of Hazel, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at a Sioux Falls hospital.

Her funeral will be at 10

a.m. Saturday at Ninth Avenue United Methodist Church in Watertown. The Rev. Ervin Rudolph will officiate.

Burial will be in the Hazel cemetery. Crawford Funeral Chapel of Watertown is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, and prior to the service Saturday at the church.

Frances Juanita Cudd was born July 29, 1933, to James and Daisy (Floyd) Cudd in Thomaston, Ga.

She married Roger Loren Luken on June 3, 1950, in Augusta, Ga. They traveled extensively with the military before retiring to Hazel.

Survivors include four daughters, Deborah (John) Rieck of Warner, Denise (Herman) Ottenbacher of Watertown, Ursula (Todd) Johnson of Gig Harbor, Wash., and Katrina (Greg) Wiedebush of Huron; 10 grandchildren; and one greatgrandchild.

Lydia Roberts

Aberdeen - The funeral for Lydia Roberts, 92, of Aberdeen will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Miller-Huebl Funeral Chapel, 1111 S. Main St. The Rev. Harold E. Salem will officiate.

Burial will be Friday in the Fort Snelling National cemetery in Minneapolis.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service, all at the funeral home.

She died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.

Lydia Schauer was born Oct. 4, 1909, to Christian G. and Christina (Mayer) Schauer in Neudorf, South Russia. She moved with her family to New York, N.Y., on Nov. 11, 1911. They moved to McPherson County, where she grew up. She graduated from Ashley High School in Ashley, N.D. She then attended college in Ellendale, N.D. She taught at rural schools in McIntosh County, N.D.

She married Archie F. Roberts on Feb. 17, 1940, in Minneapolis. They made their home in Minneapolis. He died May 15, 1951, and she moved to Aberdeen. She made Aberdeen her home until the time of her death.

She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Lou Bierman of Aberdeen; and one sister, Emma Weisser of Aberdeen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother and four sisters.

Casketbearers will be her nephews and her niece.

Dennis W. Biegler

Aberdeen - Memorial Mass for Dennis W. Biegler, 58, of Aberdeen will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 215 N. Arch St. The Rev. Gregory Tschakert will officiate.

Burial of cremains will be at a later date in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery. Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., is in charge of arrangements.

A public prayer service will be at 7 tonight at the funeral home. The Rev. Eldon Reich will officiate.

He died of natural causes Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital.

Dennis W. Biegler was born March 5, 1943, to Del and Phyllis (Meyer) Biegler at Aberdeen. He grew up in Aberdeen and attended Aberdeen Central High School, graduating in 1961. He entered the U.S. Air Force on March 2, 1962. He received an honorable discharge on March 1, 1966. He then returned to Aberdeen and worked as a deputy sheriff in Brown County.

He married Phyllis J. Heil on July 2, 1966, in Aberdeen. They continued to live in Aberdeen for a few years before moving to Mobridge, where he was employed as a juvenile probation officer and chief of police. They lived in several towns in South Dakota before he entered the U.S. Army on Sept. 4, 1974. He served as military police. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 18, 1984. He then moved back to Aberdeen and attended Northern State University and worked as a state parole officer. He later worked as an assistant to the Brown County commissioners. He later retired because of his health. He was providing day care for his grandchildren at the time of his death.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Gamblers Anonymous, Alcoholics Anonymous, ABATE and Disabled American Veterans. He was also a past president of the Corrections Association, an adjunct professor at Northern State University, a retired military Vietnam Veteran and a published artist.

Survivors include his wife of Aberdeen; one son, Cory (Kristal) Biegler of Aberdeen; one daughter, Denise (Jeremy Reeves) Biegler of Golden, Colo.; his father of Aberdeen; two brothers, Jerry Biegler and Richard Biegler, both of Aberdeen; one sister, Bunny Vitense of Columbia; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, and paternal and maternal grandparents.

Donna Marie Reinhardt

Aberdeen - Mass of Christian burial for Donna Marie Reinhardt, 74, of 623 N. Lloyd St. will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 409 Third Ave. S.E. The Rev. Lance Oser will officiate.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Schriver's Memorial Mortuary, 414 Fifth Ave. N.W., in charge of arrangements.

A liturgical wake service will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday, all at the mortuary.

She died Thursday, May 30, 2002, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital.

Margaret A. Bradley

McAllen, Texas - Margaret A. Bradley, 68, of McAllen and formerly of Aberdeen, died Thursday, May 30, 2002, at the McAllen Heart Hospital.

The arrangements are pending with Schriver's Memorial Mortuary, 414 Fifth Ave. N.W., Aberdeen.

Gertrude 'Gert' Mildred Fisher

Aberdeen - Gertrude "Gert" Mildred Fisher, 84, of Aberdeen and formerly of Mobridge, died Friday, May 31, 2002, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobridge. The Rev. Bryce Fellbaum will officiate.

Burial will be in the Greenwood cemetery with Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge in charge of arrangements.

A family service will be at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday, and from 8 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.

Paul V. Bonzer

Billings, Mont. - Paul V. Bonzer, 42, of Billings and formerly of Hecla and Oakes, N.D., died of cancer Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Billings.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shepherd Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Billings.

Burial will be in Shepherd cemetery with Smith Funeral Chapel in Billings in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will begin Friday morning at the funeral chapel.

Paul V. Bonzer was born Sept. 4, 1959, to Robert R. and Irdene I. (Boadwine) Bonzer in Britton. He grew up on the family farm near Hecla. He graduated from Hecla High School in 1977. He worked for Oakes Manufacturing in Oakes before moving to Billings in 1979.

He married Angela Magers on July 23, 1983.

He married Patricia Kuntz on Dec. 9, 1989, in Billings. He was employed with Marketing Manufacturing until it closed in 1995. He then worked with Elk River Concrete.

He loved to camp and fish.

Survivors include his wife of Billings; one son, Elijah Ray Bonzer of Billings; one daughter, Mandy Satre of Billings; his mother of Hecla; four sisters, Ann Bormann of Seattle, Joan Kutter of Huron, Sara Holland of Britton, and Gwen Planteen of Langford; two brothers, Lon Bonzer of West Fargo, N.D., and Cal Bonzer of Hallettsville, Texas; and one granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his father, his paternal grandparents and his maternal grandparents.

Hazel Ione Flood Marshall

Eagle Butte - The funeral for Hazel Ione Flood Marshall, 76, will be at 10 a.m. MDT today at the United Church of Christ in Eagle Butte. The Rev. Daniel Sheehan will officiate.

A second service will be at 3 p.m. CDT today at the Agar Methodist Church.

Burial will be in the Onida cemetery with Luce Funeral Home in Eagle Butte in charge of arrangements.

She died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at St. Mary's Healthcare Center in Pierre.

Hazel Ione Flood was born Sept. 19, 1925, to Joseph Emil and Mary "Mollie" (Weischedel) Flood in rural Sully County. After her mother died in 1931, she lived with her father and sisters. When her father died in 1934, she went to live at the home of her aunt and uncle. She graduated from Agar High School in 1943. She then went to Aberdeen to earn a two-year teaching certificate. She taught in several rural Sully County schools.

She married Philip F. Marshall on July 25, 1947, in Trail City. They continued to live in Sully County on several farms where he worked and she taught school. In 1963 they moved to Eagle Butte. She continued to teach in Eagle Butte, and was one of the first Headstart teachers hired in 1965. He died in 1972. She worked for Headstart for 17 years, retiring in 1982. In 1982 she became a first grade teacher with the C-EB school system. She taught Headstart and first grade for 25 years. She retired from teaching in 1990, but continued to substitute for many years until her failing health caused her to slow down. In 1999 she moved to Pierre to be closer to her healthcare providers.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Eagle Butte, where she held several offices including deaconess and was a member of the church circles, the Birthday Card Club and the Chey Mor Reading Council. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for more than 50 years, and held several offices including secretary and president. In 1998 she became an honorary member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe.

She enjoyed embroidering, sewing, playing Scrabble and cards.

Survivors include two daughters, Glenda (Joe) Nedved and Nancy (Kermit) Dupris, both of Eagle Butte; four sisters, Vera Seymour of Poolesville, Md., Alice West of Pierre, Minnie Mae Claggett of Rockville, Md., and Myrt Pearson of Agar; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, one daughter, and one sister.
