Todd Sheffield, age 42, of Reno, NV; formerly of Madison; died Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Reno, NV.
Survivors include three sons, Charlie, Sean and Aaron, all of Reno; his parents, Charles and Wanda Sheffield of Madison; and two sisters, Kelli Sheffield of Ontario, Canada, and Jarri Sheffield Leighton of Madison.

Evelyn M. Chalcraft, 75
Evelyn M. Chalcraft, 75, of 110 4th St. SE, Huron, and formerly of Wessington, died Monday, August 23, 2004, at the Sioux Valley Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls.
Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church in Huron with the Rev. Kevin Channell officiating.
Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens cemetery.
Friends may call this afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Thursday morning. There will be a Prayer service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home with the family present from 7-8 p.m.
Evelyn Chalcraft was born Evelyn Meta Stobbs on June 19, 1929, to Guy Allan and Ada Ruth (Sass) Stobbs in Hand County near Vayland. She attended school in Wessington and graduated from Wessington High School.
On September 24, 1948, Evelyn married Donald R. Chalcraft in Huron. The couple lived at Groton for 27 1/2 years, before returning to Wessington in 1978. Her husband, Donald, died on June 8, 1996. Evelyn moved to Huron in May of 1997.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Watson-Krauter American Legion Post No. 110 Auxiliary of Wessington, the Royal Neighbors, and volunteered as a Pink Lady at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
She is survived by one daughter, Vickie (Richard) Schumacher of Crooks; six grandchildren, Jamie Schumacher and his fiancé Nicole Brans, Jessica (Jacob) Hill, Amber Schumacher, Carmen Jensen, Richard (Heidi) Heinz, and Chris (Lisa) Heinz; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Edna Peterson of Huron, Nellie (Gilbert) Scheibe of Wolsey, and Blanche McNeil of Huron; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; one son, Dennis; one daughter, Denise Jensen; two brothers, John A. Stobbs, and William Stobbs; two sisters, Dollie Scheibe, and an infant sister, Viola.
Pallbearers will be Don Bennett, Ken Jones, Rick Heinz, Amber Schumacher, Jessica Hill, Jacob Hill, Ryan Oorlog, and Jamie Schumacher.

Robert Frederick Wildgrube, 84
Robert Frederick Wildgrube, 84, of Waseca, Minn., died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at New Richland Care Center in New Richland, Minn.
Memorial services will be today at 10:30 a.m. at the Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca with the Rev. Roger W. Haug officiating.
Robert Frederick Wildgrube was born Aug. 4, 1920, in Winona, Minn., to Frederick and Bertha (Laufenburger) Wildgrube. He graduated from Winona Senior High in 1938 and attended Huron Business School in Huron.
He served in the Army in Germany and France as a chaplain’s assistant during World War II. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Huron where he worked in the purchasing department for the Chicago-Northwestern Railroad for 11 years. He married Beverly Mycue on July 7, 1947, in Huron and they were later divorced. He worked for the U.S. Government for three years before moving to Waseca in 1957. He was employed with the E.F. Johnson Co. in Waseca in production control for 13 years before retiring due to a disability in 1969.
He enjoyed squirrel and pheasant hunting, traveling and visiting with old friends. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca.
He is survived by one son, David (Barb) Wildgrube of New Richland, Minn.; one daughter, Becki (Ronald) Lapham of Bloomington, Minn.; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and several nephews in the Sheboygan, Wis., area.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Elaine.

Ronald Lee Tribitt
Ft. Worth, Texas
Nov. 28, 1957 - Feb. 27, 2005
Ronald L. Tribitt, 47, died on Feb. 27, 2005, after a short battle with cancer at the VA North Texas Health Care System in Dallas.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the Houseman-Eng Funeral Home in Clear Lake with the Rev. Ken Brokmeier officiating. Burial with military rites presented by the Charles Curry American Legion Post No. 49 in Clear Lake will be in the Lakeview cemetery in Clear Lake. Visitation is on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. in the Houseman-Eng Funeral Home in Clear Lake.
He was born on Nov. 28, 1957, to Albert and Twylla (Krause) Tribitt in Revillo where he was raised. He graduated from the Revillo High School in Revillo. While in school he worked for various farmers in the area. Following his education, he continued to work for area farmers and also worked for Kown Manufacturing in Watertown.
On Aug. 27, 1977, he married Laura Lehman. Following their marriage, he served in the United States Army for three years.
In 1984, he moved to Texas where he spent the last 20 years working for Horton Tree Service. In 2004 he was diagnosed with cancer and in February 2005 he entered the VA North Texas Health System in Dallas.
He is survived by his son, Randy (Kersten) Dobberpuhl of Parker, Ariz.; his mother, Twylla Tribitt of Brookings; two sisters, Barbara Mueller of Brookings and Ramona Tribitt of Portland, Ore; two special cousins, Joan Ferguson and Tony Krause; one great aunt; and many aunts, uncles and other cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, one sister, Sandra Adler and a great-nephew.

Ivan E. Jensen
(November 16, 1920 - September 19, 2008)
Ivan E. Jensen, age 87, of Madison, died Friday, September 19, 2008, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Howard.
He was born November 16, 1920 at New Hampton, IA to Morris and Elizabeth (Dvorak) Jensen. He attended Lake Preston High School while living with his grandparents, Joseph and Mary Dvorak. He took radio and television repair training in Minneapolis and owned Jensen’s Radio & TV in Watertown for 38 years. Ivan served in the US Navy from 1942-45 during World War II aboard the USS Twigs and the USS Hunt. He also served in the Korean Conflict from 1950-52 aboard the D449 Destroyer.
He married Jean Harlow on October 13, 1945 at Chicago, IL. They had two sons, David and Dennis. Ivan married Jeanne Wall on August 22, 1982 in California. They lived at Lake Poinsett and moved to Madison in 2001. His hobbies were camping, boating, golfing and his computer.

SURVIVORS: include his wife Jeanne Wall Jensen of Howard; one son Dr. Dennis (Monica) Jensen of Wayne, NE; one daughter-in-law Nikki Jensen of Charlestown, WV; two stepchildren, Dan (Connie) Wall and Starlett (Wally) Reed both of Madison; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and one sister-in-law Rosie Jensen of Watertown.

Robert George Jensen

Nov. 28, 1926 - April 5, 2005
Robert G. Jensen, 78, died on Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at the Brookings Hospital.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Aurora Methodist Church in Aurora with the Rev. Teri Johnson officiating. Burial is at Fairlawn cemetery in Aurora with military graveside services by the Aurora & Brookings American Legion. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Rude’s Funeral Home
He was born on Nov. 28, 1926, in Brookings, the son of Alfred G. and Minnie (Hegerfeld) Jensen. He lived and worked all of his life near Aurora. He married Vivian Erks on Nov. 21, 1950, in Ivanhoe, Minn. He served in the United States Army from 1949 until 1952 during the Korean Conflict. While in the military, he received the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars and one Over Seas Bar. He was employed at South Dakota State University as a cabinet maker for 18 years until his retirement in 1986.
His hobbies included fishing and woodworking. He loved to sing and sang “Amazing Grace” every day.
He is survived by his wife of Aurora; one daughter, Judy Sherrard of Springfield, Mo.; two grandchildren; one sister, Marion (Robert) Groth of Elkton; one brother, Lawrence (Betty)Jensen of Aurora and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jeanne Herrick and one son-in-law. Vernon Sherrard.

Joseph (Joe) S. Jorgenson
(March 16, 1926 - December 13, 2008)
Joseph (Joe) S. Jorgenson, age 82, of Madison, died Saturday, December 13,2008, at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls.
Joseph S. Jorgenson was born March 16, 1926 at rural Montrose, SD, to Jalmar and Sophie (Sundahl) Jorgenson. He grew up in the Montrose area, attended Montrose High School for one year, and then graduated from Orland High School.
On June 6, 1954, he married Elaine Johnson at Parker, SD and they farmed with his father and brothers for 2 ˝ years before moving to their farm at rural Madison. He retired in 1987 and they moved to another rural home where he was living at the time of his death. Joe was an active member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church where at one time he served on the church council and was treasurer of the cemetery board for 26 years.
His greatest joy in life was his family and his church. For 10 ˝ years he was on kidney dialysis and was an inspiration to others also on dialysis.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Elaine of Madison; one daughter Deborah Gulzow and her husband Steve of North Platte, NE; one son David Jorgenson and his wife Inez of Madison; three grandchildren, Jennifer Bush and her husband Nathan of Madison; Amanda Anderson and her husband Josh of Wentworth, and Spc. Clintin Jorgenson and his wife Jessica of Afghanistan and Ft. Campbell, KY; four great grandchildren, Jada, Morgan and Wyatt Anderson and Calleigh Jorgenson; one brother George Jorgenson of Montrose; one sister Marguerite Gramstad of Sioux Falls; one sister-in-law Wilma Jorgenson of Montrose and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant son; his parents; one brother Donald Jorgenson; and two infant brothers.

James H. Brookshire
(December 30, 1928 - December 30, 2008)
James H. "Jim" Brookshire, age 80, of Madison, died Tues., Dec. 30, 2008 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls.
Jim was born December 30, 1928 at Lake Preston to Charles and Theressa (Seipp) Brookshire. He graduated from Lake Preston High School and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Betty Shaikoski on April 18, 1952 at Lake Preston Lutheran Church. He was an auto mechanic in Lake Preston until 1970 when they moved to Madison and took over the American Family Insurance Agency which he owned for over 30 years. He retired in 2000 and enjoyed taking care of his cats, gardening and fishing. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church of Orland, Madison American Legion, Masonic Lodge and Order of Eastern Star.

Oct. 21, 1968 - Aug. 4, 2005
Darwin J. Smith, 36, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, north of Yale as the result of an accident.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Huron with the Rev. Joe Holzhauser officiating. Burial is at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Erwin cemetery at Erwin, with military rites by the Hartland American Legion Post No. 241. Visitation is from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron and from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with a Scripture Service at 7 p.m. or prior to the Mass Tuesday morning at the church.
Darwin John Smith was born Oct. 21, 1968, to Donald and Charlotte (Olson) Smith in Lake Preston. He graduated from Lake Preston High School in 1986.
After graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corp and proudly served his country during Desert Storm and the Yellowstone National Park fires. After his honorable discharge, he worked with his father at Smith Body Shop in Lake Preston. He then attended Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown and received an associate’s degree in diesel technology. He worked at James River Equipment in Huron, and was employed by Beadle County Highway Department at the time of his death.
He married Lynne Carlson on Nov. 9, 1991.
Darwin loved his God and his family. He enjoyed watching his children grow and learn through activities such as swim team, cross country, shooting sports, and camping, His family and friends meant the world to him. Other hobbies included watching NASCAR racing, golfing, bowling, hunting and many others. His friends were innumerable, and his willingness to help all around him was a testimony to how he lived his life.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Huron and the Hartland American Legion Post No. 241 of Erwin.
He is survived by his wife, Lynne; and six children; Danielle 13, Courtney, 11, Rachel, 7, Juliana, 5, Ryan, 3, and Angela, 4 months old, all of Huron; parents Don and Charlotte Smith of Lake Preston; three brothers, Edwin (Sandy) Smith of Nevada City, Calif., Delwin (Mary) Smith of Lake Preston and Ronald (Michele) Smith of Brookings; six sisters, Kathleen (Jeff) Speer of Grass Valley, Calif., Joyce (Ron) Fried of Kodiak, Alaska, Nancy (John) Anderson of Kodiak, Alaska, Donna Phelps of Hermosa, Velva (Harvey) Fitzgerald of Hermosa and Charlene (Dennis) Stein of Clear Lake; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Joyce (Dunn) Carlson of Erwin; brothers-in-law, Keith Carlson of Erwin, Steve (Penny) Carlson of Erwin, Joey (Suzanne) Carlson of Sioux Falls and Andy Carlson of Brookings.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eddie and Esther Smith and John and Teressa Olson, and a sister, Mary Smith.
A memorial scholarship fund for the children has been established at the Dakotaland Federal Credit Union in Huron.
