Jeanne Wall Jensen, age 88, of Lead, SD; formerly of Madison; died Thurs., April 5, 2012, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Jeanne Uglem was born September 29th, 1923 to Julius and Nora (Dahlen) Uglem on a farm near Oldham, SD. She graduated from Oldham High School, and then attended the New York Beauty Academy in Fargo, ND. During WWII she worked as an Engineering Draftsman in Puget Sound Naval Yard, Bremerton, WA. She married Norman “Andy” Wall in 1946 at Long Island, NY. He passed away from Multiple Sclerosis in 1968, at Ft. Meade VA Hospital, Black Hills, SD. Jeanne married Ivan Jensen in 1982 at Ontario, California and they lived at Watertown, SD for several years. Ivan passed away in September 2008 at Madison.
Jeanne was a member of Oldham Lutheran Church, Sons of Norway, Madison Garden Club, and Red Hatters. Her passion was her gardening and her artwork.
preceded in death BY: Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands and three sisters, Laurel Dick, Arlene Hempel, and Verna Lee.
SURVIVORS: Survivors include her children Dan (Connie) Wall of Madison and Starlett (Walter) Reed of Lead; five grandchildren, Jeremy (Keri), Andy (Jennifer), and Jared (Regina) Wall, Dawn Reed and Sarah (Joseph) Canida, and eight great grandchildren.

Phil Rasmussen
(October 18, 1906 - August 25, 2008)
W. Philip Rasmussen, age 91, of Estelline, SD, died Monday, August 25, 2008, at Estelline Nursing and Care Center.
Wilhelm Philip Rasmussen was born October 18, 1916, at Bruce, SD, to Gilbert and Matilda (Lenning) Rasmussen. He attended country school at Eureka #57 and attended Bruce High School. He married Phyllis Jager on October 30, 1942, at the Bruce Gospel Tabernacle. Phil was engaged in farming, a car and implement business, and a grain bin business in Estelline for 38 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Estelline school board, Estelline town board, and church board. He was an active member of First Assembly of God Church and was a Sunday school teacher. Phil loved to golf.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2007; an infant grandson, Mark Brunner; and six brothers, Irwin, Elmer, Albin, Lorelle, Herman and Roy Rasmussen.
Survivors include four sons, Neil (Lois) Rasmussen of Estelline, Duane (Darlene) Rasmussen of Williamsburg, VA, Michael (LaDonna) Rasmussen of Crown Point, IN and Richard (Sandra) Rasmussen of Chamberlain; one daughter, Sharon (Michael) Brunner of Kansas City, KS; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Leona Bozied of Brookings and Evelyn Bradley of Edina, MN.

Dean Arthur Braun
Dell Rapids
July 31, 1937 - May 8, 2006
Dean Arthur Braun, 68, died Monday, May 8, 2006, at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services are Friday at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aberdeen. Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau, with the family present from 5-7 p.m. There will be visitation at the church beginning at noon until service time on Friday. Graveside services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Oslo cemetery in rural Trent.
He was born on July 31, 1937, in Flandreau, to Arthur and Bertha (Hammer) Braun. He graduated from Flandreau High School in 1955 and attended SDSU in Brookings.
He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, camping, playing his guitar and the piano (by ear). He had a special talent and passion for baseball. In 1952, Dean helped Flandreau win the Class B American Legion baseball title as a 14-year-old in his first year of Legion ball. He was a winning pitcher and averaged 12 strike-outs per game. In 1954 Dean was honored as the South Dakota American Legion player of the year. Fifty years later, Dean was honored to throw out the first pitch at the state American Legion State Baseball tournament. In 1955, Dean signed with the Aberdeen Pheasants. The next year the Baltimore Orioles sent him to Lubbock, Texas, until the upper league folded. Dean returned to South Dakota where he worked at the Farmers Union Co-op in Flandreau. For the next 40 years, he was self-employed as a public accountant for Cenex Co-Op, and owned Braun Accounting until his retirement in 2002. After 40 years living in Aberdeen, Dean and Lois moved to Dell Rapids in August, 2005.
He was known for his sense of humor.
On June 13, 1959, after a 5 1/2 year courtship, Dean married his high school sweetheart, Lois Ingemann in Flandreau. They celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary this past summer. He and Lois loved watching their children and grandchildren participate in sports and activities.
Dean was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and a lifetime member of the National Association of Public Accountants.
Dean is survived by his wife Lois; children, Lisa (Marty) Link of Aberdeen; Linda (Jeff) Mock of Rochester, Minn.; Michael (Annette) Braun of Hastings, Neb.; and Lachelle (Mike) Ashworth of Irving, Texas, and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Myers, and a nephew, Larry Myers.

Rolland Curtis ‘Rolly’ Skarloken Sr.
Tracy , Minn.
Rolland Curtis “Rolly” Skarloken Sr., 75, formerly of Brookings, died Sunday, April 30, 2006, at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital.
Funeral services were held Friday services were held at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Tracy. Burial was in Tracy cemetery.
Born in Hendricks, Minn., Skarloken lived in Tracy 19 years. He owned and operated RC Skarloken and R&R; Oil Distribution of Hayward. He was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Elk’s Lodge No. 2031 and several tractor clubs.
Before his time in Tracy, Skarloken lived in Brookings for a number of years and ran a Conoco station.
He enjoyed cars, tractors, hunting, horses and was an avid boater.
He enjoyed riding quads at Pismo Beach. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Skarloken is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Skarloken of Tracy; son, Rolland Curtis “Rolly” Jr. (Donna) of Tracy; siblings, Betty (Maynard) Stroschien of Clear Lake, and Preston (Alyce) Skarloken, of Estelline; three grandchildren; and numerous friends and relatives.

William A. “Bill” “Bubba” Wheeler, 55
William A. “Bill” “Bubba” Wheeler, 55, of 650 Michigan Ave. S.W., died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at his residence.
His memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Huron Baptist Church with the the Rev. Mark Lafreniere officiating. Burial of his cremated remains will be in the Restlawn Memory Gardens cemetery with military rites by the Huron Veterans Council.
There will be no visitation. The family prefers memorials.
William A. “Bill” Wheeler was born in Van Nuys, Calif., on Nov. 24, 1948, to Bennie Jo Forrest and Billy Ray Wheeler. He attended school in Fort Worth, Texas, before joining the Army. He was honorably discharged from the Army. Following his military service, he worked at many different jobs and fished as often as he could.
He married Darla Wipf, of Huron, in 1994, and they had continued to live in Huron. Wheeler, a disabled veteran, had had health problems since his discharge from the military.
He is survived by his wife, Darla, of Huron; two children, William Glenn Wheeler of Waco, Texas, and Stacey (David) Vanderkinter of Valley Mills, Texas; two grandchildren, Thomas and Elisabeth Vanderkinter; and other family members and numerous friends.

Bette J. Ford
Bruce
July 1, 1923 - May 9, 2006
Bette J. Ford, 82, died on Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church in Bruce with the Rev. Wayne Hjermstad officiating. Burial is at Elmwood cemetery in Bruce. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings.
She was born on July 1, 1923 in Brookings County, the daughter of John I. and Matilda (McClemans) DeWitt.
She received her education in rural school in Moody County and was a graduate of Brookings High School in 1941. After receiving her education she was employed at the Brookings Telephone office. She married Darrel Ford on Sept. 20, 1943, in Brookings. From 1946 until 1949, they farmed near Braham, Minn. In 1949, they moved back to South Dakota and farmed near Bruce until their retirement in 1988. Betty was also employed on the State Election Boards for many years.
She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, the church circle and the Bruce American Legion Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband Darrel of Bruce; one son Richard “Rick” (Debbie) Ford of Bruce; two daughters, Barbara Coughenour of Mankato, Minn., Linda (William) Buck of Sinai; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and one sister Barbara DeWitt of Stillwater, Minn..
She was preceded in death by two brothers Jerry and John, one sister Marianne, a son-in-law Ronald Coughenour and a step-sister, Hazel Swenning.

Kayla Adrienne Gaff

May 1, 1989 - May 6, 2006
Kayla Adrienne Gaff, 17 died Saturday, May 6, 2006, from injuries sustained in a car accident southeast of Colman.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Colman-Egan High School Gymnasium in Colman with the Rev. Sue Wolf officiating. Visitation begins at 5 p.m. Monday at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Colman.
She was born May 1, 1989, at Enid, Okla., to Brett and Jodi (Pankonen) Gaff. She started school in Enid and in August 1999 they moved to Colman. She was a junior at Colman-Egan High School. Kayla was in band, was a flag girl, and participated in basketball, track, and golf. She worked part-time at the Staurolite Inn in Brookings. Kayla loved her car, clothes and purses.
She is survived by her mother, Jodi (Jay) White of Colman; father, Brett Gaff of Helena, Okla.; a brother, Dustin Gaff of Colman; grandparents, Terry Pankonen of Pipestone, Minn.; Adrienne Schultz of Pipestone, Minn; Bill and Merry Gaff of Jet, Okla., and Connie Gaff of Cherokee, Okla. and several aunts and uncles.

Sharon L. “Cherie” Riddle, 63
Sharon L. “Cherie” Riddle, 63, of Springdale, Ark., died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, in Fayetteville, Ark.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Lowell, Ark., with the Revs. Gary Thomas, Johnny Harp and Charlie Foster officiating. Burial will be in Butler Ford cemetery in Springdale.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale.
Sharon L. Cloud was born Jan. 1, 1941, in Sioux Falls to Rex and Lavonne (Montgomery) Cloud.
She was a hairdresser, a member of First Baptist Church in Lowell, the Serendipity Home Extension Club, a volunteer for the Jones Center for Families, the Springdale library and a foster parent.
She is survived by her husband James Riddle; her father, Rex Cloud of Huron; two daughters, Shelly (Keith) Brown of Lemars, Iowa, and Krisaundra (Dwayne) Butler of Springdale; one sister, Dixie (Les) Hawkey of Sioux Falls; and six grandchildren, Jessica, Michaela, Adam and Andrew Brown of Lemars and Alicia and Zachary Thomas of Springdale.
Pall bearers will be Adam Brown, Lester Hawkey, Perry Hawkey, Randy Hayes, Keith Brown and Dwayne Butler. Honorary pall bearers will be Zachary Thomas, Andrew Brown and Shad Hawkey.

Wesley J. Koehn, 82
Wesley J. Koehn, 82, of Sioux Falls and formerly of Huron, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kuhler Funeral Home with the Revs. Shane Van Meveren and Robert Osborn officiating.
Burial will be in the Huron Mis-sion Church section of Ideal cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 8 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. The family will be present from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Wesley Joel Koehn was born Aug. 30, 1922, at Winton, Calif., to Joel and Helena (Yost) Koehn. He grew up in Winton and received his education there. On Nov. 15, 1942, he married Olga Becker at Winton. They lived in Winton for about 10 years before moving to Huron. He worked at Armour and Company for 35 years. They lived in Mitchell and moved to Sioux Falls in 1994. He was a member of Huron Mission Church.
He is survived by his wife; three children, David Koehn of Sioux Falls, Sandy (Bob) Marler of Aberdeen and Timothy (Mina) Koehn of Honolulu, Hawaii; eight grandchildren, Ryan, Patrick and Molly Marler, Phillip, Jeremy, Christopher and Christina Koehn, and Laurie Bruening; and a sister, Priscilla Yost of Turlock, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul and Ted; and five sisters, Naomi, Orpha, Rachel, Ruth and Leah.

Jerry ‘Wolfe’ Mahon
Brookings
July 4, 1944 - May 9, 2006
Jerry Lee Mahon, 61, died on Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at the United Retirement Center in Brookings.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings with the Rev. Pam Fitzgerald officiating. Burial is at First Lutheran cemetery in Brookings. Visitation is prior to services on Saturday.
He was born July 4, 1944, at Tyler, Minn., the son of Austin and Lorene Mahon.
He graduated from Slayton High School in 1962 and was employed for 19 years at Sioux Steel in Sioux Falls. For the past 23 years he worked at Jerry’s Electric at Colman until illness forced his retirement in June 2005. Jerry became a resident of the United Retirement Center in April 2006.
Jerry enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing and camping.
He is survived by his fiancé, Carol Carter of Brookings; Carol’s children, Terry (Becky) Carter of Sioux Falls and Tanya Carter of Aurora; his children, Jackie (Dave) Paul and her husband, Dave of Heron Lake, Minn., Julie (Ken “Oakie”) Sandvig of Spencer, Iowa, Jay (Marjorie) Peterson of Brewster, Minn., and Jolene Peterson, of Brewster; 11 grandchildren; four brothers, Bob Mahon of Sioux Falls, Dick (Terri) Mahon of Lake Wilson, Minn.; Dale Mahon of Lake Wilson and Pat Mahon of Brandon; one sister, Tammy Mahon of Slayton, Minn; Carol’s four grandchildren; and his special friends, Bud and Dawn Myer and Sharon Johnson and Bruce Bortnem.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Laurie Moffitt.

Dorothy R. Woods, 82
Dorothy R. Woods, 82, of Aberdeen, passed away Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital.
The funeral Mass will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aberdeen.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A Catholic Daughters of the Americas’ rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory in Aberdeen, with a liturgical wake at 8 p.m.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Surviving are her husband, Samuel of Aberdeen; children, Douglas (Val) Woods of Cherokee, Iowa, Diane (Steve) Swisher of Huron, Darrel (Mary Lou) Woods of Onalaska, Wis., Deb (Kip) Squire of Omaha, Neb., and David (Mary Jo) Woods of Aberdeen; one sister, Mary (Harold) Floyd of Great Falls, Mont.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
