Wesley J. Koehn, 82, of Sioux Falls, and formerly of Huron, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the Kuhler Funeral Home in Huron with the Revs. Shane Van Meveren and Robert Osborn officiating. Burial will be in the Huron Mission Church section of Ideal cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. today until the time of the service at the funeral home this afternoon.
Pallbearers will be Robert Marler, Patrick Marler, Jon Becker, Steve Becker, Rodney Gross and Harry Becker.

Darlene Archer
Born: Wed Dec 23, 1936
Died: Thu May 24, 2012
Darlene Archer, age 75, of Colton; formerly of Madison; died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Madison Community Hospital.
Darlene Marie Archer was born December 23, 1936, at Sioux Falls, to Faye and Marie (Iossi) Archer. She was raised in the Sioux Falls area and she lived with her parents and brother on a farm near Orland. She married Albert Boellard on June 11, 1984, at Rock Rapids, IA. Darlene was a member of the Interlakes Senior Citizens Center. She attended various churches regularly and she loved Madison. Darlene enjoyed cruisin’ with her scooter “Mr. Caleb” and visiting with friends. She loved to play board games and she loved her pets.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1999; one sister Dorothy Steineke; two brothers, Clifford and LeRoy Archer and one nephew Jim Steineke.
Survivors include one niece Pat Nytroe and one nephew Bill (Kathy) Steineke, all of Sioux Falls; many great nieces and great nephews, and the entire Madison community.

Thomas J. Rowan, 77
Thomas J. Rowan, 77, of San Diego and formerly of Woonsocket, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, after suffering a massive stroke.
A memorial Mass was held in San Diego on Jan. 28. His ashes will be scattered at sea off the coast of California.
Thomas J. Rowan was born June 1, 1927, to Edward and Elizabeth Rowan at Artesian. He graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1945. He served in the Navy during World War II and attended the University of South Dakota. In 1951 he married Patricia Thompson of Woonsocket and also began a 33-year career with Western Airlines. In 1962 they moved from Sioux Falls to San Diego.
He is survived by two brothers, Matt (Alice) of Turlock, Calif,; and Fred (Phyllis) of Woonsocket; three daughters, Cathie (Chris) Millson of Las Vegas; Sandra (Bill) Soule of Alpharetta, Ga.; and Dianne (Jason) Seely Burger of Escondido, Calif.; and eight grandchildren, Nicole, Caitlin and Christopher Millson, Hannah and Isabelle Seely, Lauren Soule, and Rowan and Grace Burger.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2001.

Floyd W. Skovlund
January 9, 1926 - October 2, 2011
Floyd W. Skovlund, 85, of Brookings, SD, passed away October 2, 2011. Funeral Services have been set for 10:30am Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church, Bruce, SD. Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 7:00pm Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Rude’s Funeral Home, Brookings, SD.
Floyd W. Skovlund was born on January 9, 1926 in Brookings County, SD, the son of Oscar and Mabel (Holter) Skovlund.
Floyd received his education in rural school in Brookings County, SD. He served in the United States Army from 1951 until 1953 during the Korean Conflict. After serving in the Army, he returned to South Dakota where he farmed. He was united in marriage to Louise Meisenheimer on October 7, 1967, in Estelline, SD. In 1972 he was employed at SDSU in Residential Life.
He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Bruce, SD and the Bruce American Legion Post #200. He enjoyed playing Bingo and especially spending time with his family and friends.
Floyd is survived by his wife Louise of Brookings, SD; two daughters, Darla (Keith) Norgaard of Arlington, SD and Kimberly Toucedo of Brookings; four grandchildren, Marshall Norgaard of Arlington, SD, Taylor Virchow of Brookings, SD, Tomas Toucedo and Tyson Toucedo both of Arlington, SD; three brothers Gerald Skovlund of Bruce, SD, Alden (Carol) Skovlund of Bruce, SD and Harold Skovlund of Brookings, SD; one sister, Audrey Ulvestad of Bruce, SD and his faithful companion, Gus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Leon, Melvin, Ralph, Olaf and Adolph and his four sisters, Olga, Evelyn, Ellen and Esther.

Bruce Rodman, 76
Bruce Rodman, 76, of Ihlen, Minn., died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls.
His funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at Peace United Methodist Church in Pipestone, Minn., with the Revs. Becky Jo Thilges and Tim Collins officiating.
Interment will be in Ihlen cemetery.
Bruce Rodman was born Aug. 19, 1928, to Charles and Almeda (Gordon) Rodman at Huron. He was raised on a farm near Hitchcock and attended country school. He graduated from Hitchcock High School in 1947.
On Oct. 23, 1949, he married Joyce Namanny at Wolsey. They lived in Redfield, Miller, Ree Heights, Huron, where he worked at Ni-Hi Bottling Company, Pipestone and Ihlen. In 1967 he became a salesman for Henry’s Candy Company. He was there for 25 years and was known as “Henry’s Candy Man.”
He was baptized April 1, 1945, at Methodist Church in Hitchcock. He was a member of Zion Evangelical United Brethren Church in Pipestone until the church closed. He taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. He belonged to the Come Couples Club and enjoyed watching TV, crushing pop cans and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife; six daughters, Cheryl (John) Doerr of Pipestone; Gerri (Terry) Abell of Newport, Minn.; Barb (Steve) Eggerud of Forest Lake, Minn.; Pam (Doug) Fey of Woodstock, Minn.; Merna Hansen of Pipestone; and Jodi (Dennis) Bjerke of Kingman, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Janice (James) Mortimer of Hitchcock.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Roddy and Blair.

Kathryn Henning
January 10, 1921 - September 19, 2011
Kathryn Henning, 90, formally of Brookings, died Monday, September 19, 2011 in Shakopee, Minnesota. Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings. Visitation and lunch will begin at 12:00pm at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings.
Kathryn Knutson was born January 10, 1921 to Sam and Alice Knutson in Lennox, SD. She spent her early years in rural South Dakota and graduated from high school in Inwood, IA. She then attended both Augustana College and South Dakota State University, graduating with a degree in Home Economics.
Following graduation, she joined the Women’s Army Auxilliary Corps (W.A.A.C.) and received an honorable discharge in August of 1943. She met her husband, LeRoy Henning, while teaching Home Economics and other curriculum in Sacred Heart, Minnesota. They married on June 10, 1950 in Sioux Falls, SD and made their home in the following Minnesota cities: Spring Valley, Jeffers, New York Mills and Shoreview before settling in Claremont.
Kathryn was a member of her local Auxiliary, American Legion, Commercial Club, Good Sams and various other social clubs. Her many hobbies included cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening, bridge and reading. She and LeRoy were avid Square Dancers and served as officers in the MN State Square Dance Association.
She is dearly missed by her 3 daughters; Deborah Henning, Vicki Miller and Konie Henning (Mike Ricciardi); one brother, Gordon Knutson; her grandchildren, Kurstyn (Brian) Loeffler, Chase (Nickie) Miller, Kelbee Miller, Jacob Ricciardi, Isaak Weum, Zachary Ricciardi; many nieces and nephews and is loved by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and two sisters Lucille Aeilts and Mildred Thompson.

Marie Viola Egeberg
December 31, 1912 - September 9, 2011
Marie Viola Egeberg, 98, of Brookings, died Friday, September 9, 2011 at the United Retirement Center in Brookings, SD. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am, Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at the First Lutheran Church in Brookings, SD. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, at the First Lutheran Church in Brookings.
Marie Viola Green was born on December 31, 1912, in White, South Dakota, the daughter of Thomas and Rosa (Laabs) Green.
Marie spent her early years in Brookings County, near White, SD, and received her education in rural schools in Brookings County and the White Public School. She was united in marriage to Herbert N. Egeberg, on May 25, 1930, in Canton, SD. Herbert passed away on January 22, 1995, and Marie married Vila Gates in Arlington, SD, on February 21, 1998. Vila passed away on April 25, 2004. Marie was employed at the Steam Laundry in Brookings for over twenty years.
Marie was a member of the First Lutheran Church, in Brookings, SD. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting.
She is survived by three sons; Darwin and his wife Barbara of Madison, SD, Ronald and his wife Sharan of Brookings, SD, Robert and his wife JoEllen of Morton, IL; one daughter, Marian Egeberg of Aurora, CO; one son-in-law, Roy Mann of Urbandale, IA; fourteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one brother, Wilbur Green of Watertown, SD; one sister, Elma Herr and her husband Harlan of Webster, SD; one sister-in-law Evelyn Green of Russellville, OH; one brother-in-law Ralph Righi of Glendale, CA, and several step-children, several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one son, Dale Egeberg, one daughter Bernice Mann; four sisters, Luella, Irene, Margie, Mavis and three brothers, Francis, Willis and Melvin.

Leslie Wayne Peterson
October 12, 1917 - September 8, 2011
Leslie Wayne Peterson, 93, of Brookings, died Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the United Retirement Center in Brookings, SD. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Brookings Wesleyan Church in Brookings, SD, with burial at Richland cemetery in Mina, SD at 3:00pm. Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Wednesday at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings, SD.
Leslie W. Peterson was born on October 12, 1917, in Cartersville, Montana, the son of Ernest and Elsie (Mount) Peterson.
Wayne moved to South Dakota with his parents at the age of three. He attended elementary school in Union Township, Edmunds County and attended high school at Mina, SD. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in education at Northern State College. He then served in the United States Navy and served time aboard the ship in the Atlantic Theater of War and later in the Pacific to finish his term of duty. He was united in marriage to Alma Sollie on October 31, 1943, at the Richland Church. Wayne continued his education at USDS and received his Master’s degree in education in 1961. He worked in a wood shop in Redfield for several years before he began his teaching career in various high schools in South Dakota. In 1957, he moved to Brookings, SD, where he taught in the Brookings Middle School for 11 years and in 1969, he took a teaching position at Dakota State College. He retired in 1983 as a professor Emeritas. Alma died on July 10, 2005, in Brookings. Wayne and Alma enjoyed 61 years of marriage together.
Wayne was saved and joined the Wesleyan Church at the age of 16. He was a lifelong member of the Wesleyan Church and served in many capacities. He was a member of the Brookings Wesleyan Church, the VFW, Golden K, South Dakota Education Association and the Brookings Education Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking, painting and reading.
He is survived by his daughter Nancy Peterson, of Taos, New Mexico, his son Dwight (Bonnie) Peterson, of Connor, MT; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother Steven Peterson of Anchorage, AK; one special niece Ann Sollie Wine and one special great niece.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one sister Olive.

James Edward Schroeder
January 15, 1944 - September 9, 2011
James Edward Schroeder, 67, of Brookings, died Friday, September 9, 2011 as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings, SD. Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Monday, September 12, 2011 at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings.
James “Jim” Edward Schroeder was born on January 15, 1944 in Geneseo, Kansas, the son of Edward and Regina (Friedel) Schroeder.
He grew up and helped on the family farm in rural Kansas, and attended school in Bushton, Kansas. From 1964 through 1968 he bravely served our country in the United States Navy, including a tour in Vietnam. Jim was honorably discharged from the Navy on January 13, 1968. He was united in marriage to Sherrill (Sherry) Sidwell in November of 1969.
Jim passed away, Friday, September 9, 2011 as a result from injuries sustained in a tragic auto accident, he was 67.
He is survived by his wife Sherrill “Sherry” Schroeder of Brookings, SD; three daughters, Staci (Jeremy) Amundson of Sioux Falls, SD, Nicole “Nicki” (Ryan) Bell of Sidney, MT and Jaime Schroeder and fiancé Daniel Duba of Sioux Falls, SD; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer, Bryan, Nicolle, Jory, Jace, Aubrie, Parker; Justin and Roni who considered Jim a grandfather; one sister, Betty (Maurice) Dohrman of Bushton, KS, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patricia Steinbacher of Lawrence, KS.
At the time of his death he was employed by TransCanada in Brookings, SD.
Jim was an avid reader, enjoyed car shows and woodworking. Spending time with his family was his greatest joy. We will forever miss his quick wit and dry sense of humor. His smile could light up the darkest of days.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the Autism Society of America.

Cynthia Esther Schuett
October 24, 1913 - September 20, 2003
Cynthia E. Schuett was born on October 24, 1913 in Boyden, Iowa the daughter of Paul and Dora (Sitter) Schreuder. She died on Saturday, September 20, 2003 at the Denton Regional Medical Center in Denton, Texas at the age of 89 years.
Cynthia received her education in Boyden, IA and was a graduate of the Boyden High School in 1932. She was united in marriage to William Schuett on February 24, 1938 in Elk Point, SD. From 1938 until 1942, they lived in Iowa. In 1942, they moved to Elkton, SD where they lived until 1952, when they moved t o El Moute, CA. Cynthia was then employed at Sister Kenny Hospital until 1959 until moving to Brookings, SD. She was then employed at the Brookings Hospital in the nursery until her retirement. William died in August of 1962 in Brookings, SD. Since her retirement she has been a volunteer in many areas within the church and hospital.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Brookings, the United Methodist Womens Care and the Hospital Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed knitting, sewing and playing cards.
Cynthia is survived by several nieces Linda Barber (Joe) of Denton, Texas; Sue Arnold of Indianapolis, IN; nephew Paul Vanderburgh (Nancy) of Newton, IA; nephews surviving wife Harriet Green of Boyden, IA; and one cousin Betty Cady of Sioux Falls, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters (Elizabeth, Eunice and Lena).
Interment: 2:30PM Saturday Sheriden Township cemetery, Boyden, Iowa

Madison Joye Bevers, infant
Madison Joye Bevers, daughter of Karla and Tony, was born and died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Her funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Shalom Lutheran Church in Harrisburg. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery in Viborg. A prayer service will be held today at 7 p.m. at the Fraternal Funeral Home in Viborg.
She was the center of her parents’ lives for the nine short months before she was born and brought love and joy to her family. She will always be remembered and loved.
She is survived by her parents; her grandparents, Jim and Pauline Bevers of Miller, and Lyle and Karen Knutson of Viborg; two aunts, Laura Bevers of Highmore and Corinna Bevers of Beresford; an uncle, Kyle Knutson of Viborg; and extended family and friends.

Marshall Kouf, 81
Marshall Kouf, 81, of 419 Beach Ave. S.E., died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at his place of business.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Rinearson officiating. Entomb-ment will be at Restlawn Mem-ory Gardens Mausoleum with military rites by the Huron Veter-ans Council.
Friends may call Monday afternoon and evening and Tuesday morning at the Welter Funeral Home, or prior to the service at the church Tuesday afternoon.
Marshall William Kouf was born June 3, 1923, to Jake and Grace (Wilber) Kouf at Sheffield. As a youth he moved with his family to Huron where he attended school.
On Jan. 21, 1943, he entered the Army and served with the 75th Infantry in the European Theater during World War II. He was awarded several service medals, including the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in the Battle of the Bulge, the Combat Infantry Badge, and three bronze stars for meritorious service. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 28, 1945.
On Sept. 22, 1946, he married Doris Hopper and they have made their home in Huron since that time.
He worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 18 years. He established Lincoln Auto Salvage in 1953, and in 1976 he opened a companion business, Marko Steel Service Center. Both businesses are now combined as Marko Enterprises Ltd.
He was a member of the William Reaves American Legion Post No. 7 of Huron, Disabled American Veterans, and the Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his wife Doris Kouf of Huron; three sons, Kevin Kouf of Mitchell, Wade Kouf of Huron, and Kent (Sue) Kouf of Huron; five grandchildren, Brandie (Robert) Bieker, Heather Kouf, Marshall Wade (Angela) Kouf, Dustin Kouf, and Trent Kouf; four great-grandchildren, Ti Bieker, Aurora Bieker, Dillon Kouf, and Delaney Kouf; three stepgrandchildren, Jeff Hanebuth, Jennifer Hanebuth, and Josh Hanebuth; one stepgreat-grandchild, Kylie Hanebuth; three sisters, Eleanor (Maurice) Anderson of Rapid City, Dorothy (Frank) Dave of Irvine, Calif., and Veta (Tony) Zarifis of Mission Viejo, Calif.; and one brother, Roger (Lois) Kouf of Watertown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one great-granddaughter, Dacotah Kouf.
