Daryle Balster, 73, of 1992 Lampert Dr., died Sunday, March 19, 2006, near Canton.
His funeral will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Huron with the Rev. Bill Holmes officiating.
Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be today with a prayer service at 7 p.m. or Thursday morning at the Welter Funeral Home and prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Church, Lucas and Nicholas Koth, Andrew Petersen, Jerry Alexander and Louis Lomheim.

Dale R. Green, 87
Dale R. Green, 87, of 750 Frank Ave. S.E., died Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Huron Regional Medical Center.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Rinearson officiating. Burial will be at Riverside cemetery with military rites by the Huron Veterans Council.
Friends may call this afternoon and evening and Monday morning at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Monday afternoon. The family will be present from 6 to 7 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Casey Thorstenson, Jeromy Thorstenson, Gary Schelske, Franz Cartner, Darrell Ronfeld and Richard Mittelstedt.

George Rick, 65
George Rick, 65, of 1895 Meadowlark Lane, died Friday, March 17, 2006, at Huron Regional Medical Center.
His memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Rev. Joe Holzhauser officiating. His body has been cremated and there will be no visitation.
Funeral arrangements were announced by Welter Funeral Home.
George Charles Rick was born Oct. 23, 1940, to Russell C. and Hazel I. (Heath) Rick at Clark. He grew up on a farm and was educated in area rural schools, and also at Bradley. During the 1970s he worked for Lee Mills as a farmhand in Montevideo, Minn. In 1978, he attended ATCO in Watertown for one year.
On Sept. 1, 1979, he married Bonnie and they lived in Watertown following their marriage. They were divorced in 1991. From 1979 to 1983 he was employed as a janitor for the Watertown School District.
He moved to Huron in 1985, and has lived and worked for the Huron Area Center for Independence as an assembler for various manufacturing products.
He enjoyed the times that he was able to work on the farm, watching western movies and listening to country music.
He is survived by a brother, Maurice (Ardys) Rick of Bradley; a sister, Tami (Lyle) Quigley of Glenwood, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Glen Rick in infancy, Keath Rick, Floyd Rick, and Gerald Rick; a sister, VaDonna Forbragd; two sisters-in-law, Alta Rick, and Fern Rick; and a brother-in-law, Earl Forbragd.

Adena R. Hofer, 96
Adena R. Hofer, 96, of 420 21st St. S.W., died Thursday, March 16, 2006.
Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2006, at Beth-esda Mennonite Church with the Rev. Rick Wolga-mott officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Menn-oite Brethren Church Ceme-tery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 19, at the Kuhler Funeral Home and prior to the service at the church on Monday morning. The family will be present from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday evening.
Adena R. Decker was born Oct. 2, 1909, to John M. and Katherina (Tschetter) Decker on a farm northeast of Hitchcock. She grew up there and attended country schools. She graduated from Blue Bell School.
On April 6, 1939, she married John J. Hofer of Yale. They were married at the home of Rev. Ternary of the Baptist Church in Huron. Following their marriage they farmed in the Cavour, Huron and Yale areas. They were members of Bethel Church of Yale. In 1974, they retired and moved to Huron.
Adena was a member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church and the Huron Area Senior Center. She enjoyed working with the ladies and made many quilts. Her family was very important to her. She enjoyed sewing and working in her flowers.
Adena was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Katie Pullman Decker; her husband; her son, Leland John Hofer; her grandson, Michael John Gross; four sisters, Mary Kleinsasser, Martha Decker, Sally Hofer Waldner and Kathryn Glanzer; and four brothers, John, Jake, Sam and David Decker.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen Ann (Delano) Gross of De Smet; three grandchildren, Gretchen (Randy) Olson of Mound, Minn., Bryce Gross of Lemmon, and Lisa (Greg) Schroeder of Wall; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Sidney Schroeder; three sisters, Gladys Wedel and Ann (Ernest) Wipf, both of Huron, and Alberta Walter of Buffalo, Minn.; and four brothers, Harry Decker of Las Vegas, Nev., Joe Decker of Minneapolis, Reuben (Betty) Decker of Kirkland, Wash., and Albert (Marilyn) Decker of Huron.

Darrell E. J. Mikkelsen, 76
Darrell E. J. Mikkelsen, 76, of Huron and formerly of Onida, died Monday, March 20, 2006, at the Huron Nursing Home.
The funerals will be Friday at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Huron and Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Onida with the Rev. Kevin Channell officiating.
Burial will be in Onida Ceme-tery with Masonic rites.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Kuhler Funeral Home with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and prior to both services.
Darrell Mikkelsen was born May 12, 1929, at Gettysburg to Axel and Katherine (Fast) Mikkelsen. He grew up at Onida. In 1947 he moved to Alaska to work in the construction of an airport.
He graduated from Onida High School in 1949 and farmed with his father. On June 5, 1949, he married Phyllis Ludwig at Onida. They moved to Huron in 1954. He sold automobiles for various car dealers during his lifetime.
In 1985 he married Virginia Gabriel at Lebanon. They moved to Phoenix, Ariz. She died Oct. 26, 1994, and he returned to Onida. In 1998 he moved to Huron.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Huron. He was a member of the Pierre Masonic Lodge 27 for more than 50 years, the York Rite Bodies, the Yelduz Shrine and the James Valley Motor Corps. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.
He is survived by three daughters, Mona (Neil) Kotas of Huron, Kathy (James) Teer of Sioux Falls and Cindy (Rock) Yale of Burlington, N.D.; five grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and two sisters, Lillian (Jack) Campbell of Onida, and Jeannine (Bruce) Johnson of Sioux Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a brother, Robert.

Frances Whitley, 87
Frances Whitley, 87, of Redfield, died Thursday, March 16, 2006, at her home.
The funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Bernard’s Cath-olic Church in Redfield, with the Rev. William Osborn officiating. Burial will be in St. Bern-ard’s Catholic cemetery in Redfield.
Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield.
Frances Schmitz was born on May 3, 1918, at St. Bernard, Neb., to Mathew and Pauline (Drieferst) Schmitz. She attended school until her marriage.
She married Donavon Whitley in Naper, Neb., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They farmed for many years until moving to Redfield to work at the South Dakota Developmental Center in Redfield. After she retired from the South Dakota Developmental Center-Redfield, she provided daycare for many children for the next 20 years.
She enjoyed baking, sewing and gardening.
She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society.
She is survived by her eight children, Ron (Bev) Whitley of Redfield, Gary (Helen) Whitley of Redfield, Tom (Alice) Whitley of Frankfort, Donna (Terry) Thomas of Redfield, Connie Whitley of Redfield, Joe (Jane) Whitley of Denver, Colo., Susan (Dallas) Olson of Frankfort, and Rick (Jane) Whitley of Tulare; 27 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold (Irma) Schmitz of Shawnee, Kan., and Gerold (Sara) Schmitz of Butte, Neb; and three sisters, Regina Zietner of Eugene Ore., Margaret Honkey of Butte, Neb., and Mary (Ray) Fuhrer of Naper, Neb.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1966, her parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

Scott Schwartz, 24
Scott Schwartz, 24, of 1030 15th S.W., died Sunday, March 19, 2006, at Huron Regional Medical Center.
His funeral will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Kuhler Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
A memorial is being established at Farmers and Merchants Bank of Huron.

Melissa Ann Timm, 31
Melissa Ann Timm, 31, of Wolsey, died Sunday, March 20, 2006, at Huron Regional Medical Center.
Her funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at First United Meth-odist Church with the Rev. Richard Rinear-son officiating.
Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. with a time of prayer at 8 p.m. today at Kuhler Funeral Home and prior to the service at the church.
Melissa Ann Anderson was born March 18, 1975, at Rapid City to Floyd and Carmen (Briones) Anderson. They lived in Kenmare, N.D., New Underwood and Huron. She graduated from Huron High School in 1993.
She married Bill Timm Feb. 5, 1999, at Huron. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Huron.
She is survived by two children, William Timm Jr., and Mychaela Wipf of Wolsey; her husband; parents, Floyd (Grace) Anderson of Mandan, N.D., and Carmen Anderson (Charles Estergard) of Huron; a sister, Tina Anderson of Mandan; two stepbrothers, Mark and Flint Anderson of Mandan; grandparents, Louise Anderson of Minot, N.D., and Harold Anderson of Rapid City; parents-in-law, Gary and Joyce Timm of Wolsey; a sister-in-law, Kristi (Carl) Brakke of Milbank; and three brothers-in-law, Randy Timm of Wolsey, Jeremy (Brandy) Timm of Longmont, Colo., and Ricky Timm of Wolsey.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Anderson, and a brother, Michael Anderson.

Audrey Leon Wilson, 87
Audrey Leon Wilson, 87, formerly of Redfield, died Friday, March 17, 2006, at Plainview, Minn.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Redfield, with the Rev. Stephen Perry officiating.
She donated her body to the Mayo Clinic.
Funeral arrangements were announced by Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield.

Mary Bowar, 90
Mary Bowar, 90, of Faulkton, died Saturday, March 18, 2006, at the Faulkton Healthcare Center.
Her funeral will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Orient Lutheran Church with the Rev. Junfeng Tan officiating.
Burial will be in Faulkton cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday with a 5 p.m. prayer service at Luce Funeral Home in Faulkton.
Mary Hagen was born Oct. 23, 1915, to Anna (Haberling) and John Hagen at Orient. She attended school in Orient, graduated from Redfield High School and Northern State Teachers College in 1945 with a two-year teaching degree. She started teaching in a one-room country school. She began teaching at Faulkton in 1951. She earned her four-year degree in 1971, after years of summer school and night classes.
In 1949 she married Francis Bowar. They farmed south of Faulkton. They enjoyed driving trips and traveling with friends.
She was a member of S.D. Educators Association, National Educators Association, Retired Teachers Association, American Legion Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, American Cancer Society and Tuesday Club. She was a lifelong member of Orient Lutheran Church.
She is survived by a son, Jeff (Virginia); two sisters, Esther Weiss and Annette Hagen; and a sister-in-law, Ethel Hagen.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Oscar and Edward; and two sisters, Olga Aiken and Minnie Simmons.
Memorials may be sent to Orient Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Ralph “Sonny” Schneidewind Jr., 58
Ralph “Sonny” Schneidewind Jr., 58, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, died Friday, March 3, 2006, at Mercy Hospital.
His funeral was March 7 and interment was in Woodville cemetery at Waseca, Minn., with military honors.
Ralph Schneidewind Jr. was born at Vienna, Austria, June 19, 1947, to Ralph and Gerda (Hirschmann) Schneidewind.
He graduated from Highmore High School and served in the Navy from 1968 to 1971.
He married Lori LaMont May 17, 1996. They lived in Des Moines, Iowa, and Council Bluffs. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 37 years as a bulletin clerk.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Shelley Seller of Grimes, Iowa, and Teresa McCall of Council Bluffs; a son, Roger (Vickie) of Rapid City; mother of Rapid City; a sister, Mary (Kevin) Lawrence of Eagan, Minn.; and five grandchildren.
