Blanche Kruse, 88
Blanche Kruse, 88, of Wabasso, Minn., died Monday, March 13, 2006, at the Seasons House in Redwood Falls, Minn.
Her funeral will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Willow Lake with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be today at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Blanche Enid Wittwer was born Oct. 18, 1917, at New Avon Township in Redwood County, Minn., to Samuel and Ellen (Kline) Wittwer. She graduated from Wabasso High School May 31, 1934. She attended the University of Minnesota in St. Paul.
On Oct. 16, 1940, she married Erwin Kruse at New Avon Township. They farmed in Paxton Township until 1951 and Willow Lake Township. She worked as a nurses’ aide at Wabasso Health Care Center for 25 years, retiring in 1992.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Willow Lake and Ladies Aide. She enjoyed gardening and quilting.
She is survived by five children, Kenneth (Phyllis) of Wabasso, Karen Wiegert of Waconia, Minn., Loren (Dianne) of Murdock, Minn., Susan (Steve) Magedanz of Huron and Lucille (Doug) Woodford of New London, Minn.; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Enid Guggisberg and Merry Ellen Kammer, both of Redwood Falls.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983; two sons-in-law, Kenneth Schumacher and Reuben Wiegert; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; four brothers, Clayton, Leonard, Lewis and Samuel; and two sisters, Gertrude Wittwer and Marcella Elliott.

Cecelia M. Siemens, 85
Cecelia M. Siemens, 85, formerly of Wolsey, died Thursday, March 9, 2006, at The Virginian in Fairfax, Va.
Her funeral will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Wolsey Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Rhonda Wellsandt-Zell officiating.
Burial will be in Wolsey cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 1 to 9 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kuhler Funeral Home and prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Scott Callaghan, Cam Tulloch, Ken Lindblad, Kathy Price, Rhonda Soderlin and Donene Skorheim. Memorials may be sent to The Virginian, Wolsey Presbyterian Church or HRMC Hospice.

Troy Crandall, 33
Troy Crandall, 33, of Redfield, died Saturday, March 18, 2006, at home.
His funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ Church in Redfield with the Revs. Tim Fugman and John Visconti officiating.
Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery at Redfield.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 to 8 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home.

Dale R. Green, 87
Dale R. Green, 87, of 750 Frank Ave. S.E., died Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Huron Regional Medical Center.
His funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Rinearson officiating.
Burial will be in Riverside cemetery with military rites by the Huron Veterans Council.
Visitation will be Sunday with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m. and Monday morning at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church.

Dorothy A. Fryer, 89
Dorothy A. Fryer, 89, of 420 21st St. S.W., died Friday, March 17, 2006, at Huron Regional Medical Center.
Her memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Rick Senner officiating. Private burial will be at Rest-lawn Memory Gardens Cemet-ery with military rites by the Huron Veterans Council.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Kuhler Funeral Home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. At her request, the casket will not be open.
Dorothy A. Boone was born March 16, 1917, in Boyden, Iowa. When she was 6 months old, her family moved to South Dakota.
As a young woman, Dorothy entered the U.S. Army to serve in the Women’s Army Corps. She started basic training in Des Moines, Iowa, and then moved on to Seattle, Wash. She trained for overseas warfare in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Dorothy was stationed outside London, England, at the Eisenhower Headquarters for six months, and was there during D-Day. She also spent six months in France and finished her service in Frankfurt, Germany. During her furloughs, Dorothy enjoyed trips to Paris, Switzerland, and Monaco.
After the service, she attended Northern State University in Aberdeen. It was there that she met Robert Fryer.
They were married on Aug. 1, 1947, at Britton, South Dakota, and made their home in Aberdeen. They lived in various other communities and moved to Huron in 1966.
Dorothy was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was also a member of Daughters of the Nile and Mizpah Chapter No. 9 Order of the Eastern Star, of which she had served as Worthy Matron.
She enjoyed reading and loved to go camping with her husband. Travel was always an important aspect of Dorothy’s life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Robert on March 14, 2004.
She is survived by two daughters, DeArta (Vernon) Stirling of Lebanon, Mo., and Judy (Clarence) Hanson of Huron; six grandchildren, Patricia (Jason) Burns, Matthew Stirling, Jennifer Stirling-Baquerizo (Carlos Geovanny), Robert Allen Stirling, Rebecca Hanson, and Ruth Anne (Dan) Doyle; four great-grandchildren, Jessica Burns, Jared Burns, Alexis Stirling, and Roberto Baquerizo; and many nieces and nephews.

Sara Ann Felderman, 75
Sara Ann Felderman, 75, of Doland, died Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Huron Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Redeemer Luth-eran Church in Doland, with the Rev. Peter Utecht officiating. Bur-ial will be at a later date in the Doland Ceme-tery.
Funeral arr-angements were announced by the Arne Funeral Home in Clark.
Sara Ann Scott was born Nov. 2, 1930, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Kenneth E. and Ruth (Grenawalt) Scott. She attended grade school and three years of high school in Des Moines, before moving to Doland where she graduated from high school in 1948. She earned a teaching certificate at Northern State College in Aberdeen.
On Dec. 24, 1948, she married Robert Felderman at her mother and stepfather’s home in Des Moines. They lived on the Felderman farm near Doland, and she taught country school for one year. She worked in the family milling business in Doland from 1959-1961. Later that year, she began working at the Security State Bank in Doland and continued there until 1978, when her health forced her to retire.
She was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Doland for 57 years. She taught Sunday school and was an active member of the ladies’ aid. She was a past member of the Doland VFW and a current member of the Doland Senior Citizens. The couple spent lots of time attending ball games and sporting events. She also enjoyed her flowers and reading.
She is survived by her husband, Robert, of Doland; two sons, Jeff (Vickie) Felderman of Doland; Jim Felderman of Doland; two grandsons; two great-grandchildren; two stepbrothers, Brad Scott of Clovis, Calif., and Brian Scott of DesMoines; two brothers-in-law, Merle (Donna) Felderman, Doland, and John Felderman of Kerrville, Texas; one sister-in-law, Jo Felderman of Redfield; a stepbrother, Merle Schreuers of Maryland; and eight nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Hilda Scott, and her stepfather, A.N. Schreuers; one brother, William G. Scott; one stepbrother, Marvin Schreuers; three sisters-in-law, Sharon Scott, Judy Scott and Lucille Felderman; two brothers-in-law, Everett and Wilbur Felderman; and a niece and a nephew.

Jim McKillip, 48
Jim McKillip, 48, of Pierre, died Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at St. Mary’s TCU in Pierre.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today at Grand Avenue Wesleyan Church in Pierre.
Funeral arrangements were announced by Feigum-VanLith Funeral Home in Pierre.
Jim McKillip was born Aug. 12, 1957, in Kadoka, to James and Grace (Sampson) McKillip. He grew up and attended school in Murdo, then attended college.
He married Kathy Schmidt on Aug. 18, 1979, in Huron. They lived in Brookings, where he worked for Daktronics, Inc., for two years. In 1981, they moved to Rapid City, where he worked for Robbins and Stearns Lumber Company. They moved to Pierre in 1988. He worked for the state as a senior programmer-analyst for the Department of Social Services for nine years. Most recently he worked for BankWest in Pierre.
He was a member of the Grand Avenue Wesleyan Church in Pierre. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR racing, and playing with his dog, Jake.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy, of Pierre; two daughters, Erin McKillip of Omaha, Neb., and Heather McKillip of Pierre; his parents, James and Grace McKillip of Murdo; one brother, Doug (Amanda) of Pierre; two nephews; and one niece.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Albert L. Sackett, 89
Albert L. Sackett, 89, of Arlington, died Friday, March 17, 2006, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Sioux Falls.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Arlington United Meth-odist Church with the Rev. Bill Hoffman officiating,
Burial will be in the Arlington City cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Johnson-Henry Funeral Home and before the service at the church on Tuesday.
Albert Lee Sackett was born on June 17, 1916, at Broadland, to Sam and Jennie (Gascoigne) Sackett. He attended school at Broadland and Holabird. He served in the Army during WW II, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans organizations.
He married Margaret Everts Rans at Woonsocket on Jan. 26, 1963. He spent most of his working life in law enforcement. His wife died June 20, 2004.
He is survived by three stepchildren, Phyllis A. (Bill) Gillies of Rapid City, Carol Jean Grigsby of Sturgis, and Dewey S. Rans of Aberdeen; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, John Seeman of Huron; and a number nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret; three sisters, Margaret Langten, Pearl Spaar and Bessie Seeman; and a brother, Floyd Sackett.

Wayne William Miller, 87
Wayne William Miller, 87, of Miller died Saturday, March 5, 2005, at home.
His funeral will be today at 10 a.m. at First Church of the Nazarene in Miller. Burial will be in St. Lawrence cemetery.
Wayne William Miller was born Aug. 17, 1917, at Milford, Neb., to Joseph and Elizabeth (Eigsti) Miller. He married Mildred Rediger Dec. 12, 1937, at Milford. They farmed in Nebraska until 1950, moved to Gann Valley where they ranched and helped start the Miller Mennonite Church, moved to St. Lawrence in 1964 and to Miller in 1999. They attended First Church of the Nazarene since the 1980s.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mary (Robert) Nixon of New York, N.Y.; a daughter-in-law, Penny Miller of Madison, Wis.; three sons, Russell Miller of Silver Bay, Minn., Randall (Marsha) Miller of Elkhart Ind., and Jeffrey Miller of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Scott, Kelly, Brian, Mike, Kris and Brooke Miller, and Jordan and Timothy Nixon; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Herley Miller.

Aaron Joe Richardson, 46
Aaron Joe Richardson, 46, of Woonsocket died Sunday, March 27, 2005, at the South Dakota Human Resource Center in Yankton.
His funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Woonsocket.
Aaron Joseph Richardson was born April 27, 1958, to Aaron and Louise (Wilkerson) Richardson at Wessington Springs. He attended grade school in Woonsocket, graduated from Huron High School in 1978 and attended one year of college in Huron. He worked in Huron for the soil conservation office and was a service manager for an appliance store in Lancaster, Calif., for several years.
He liked listening to all types of music, collected Elvis Presley memorabilia, enjoyed watching World Wrestling Federation and collected wrestling character dolls. He moved to Prairie View Care Center in Woonsocket in 1998 and was president of the residence counsel. He supported S.D. ABATE, always welcoming the motorcyclists on the their stop-over for the Windriders Annual Toy Run. He collected Harley Davison model motorcycles and memorabilia.
He is survived by his mother of Woonsocket; a sister, Coy (Joseph) Clark of Woonsocket; three brothers, John of Neah Bay, Wash., Earl of Port Angeles, Wash., and Jerome of Woonsocket; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father and a nephew, Chris.

Leo Uken, 81
Leo Uken, 81, of Woonsocket died Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls.
His funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Bethany Luth-eran Church in Woonsocket with the Rev. Bill Miller officiating.
Burial will be in Spencer cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Basham Funeral Chapel in Woonsocket and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Leo Ervin Uken was born Dec. 26, 1923, at Springfield to Emil and Mary (Gotschall) Uken. He served in the Army Air Force from January 1943 to September 1945 as a ball-turret gunner aboard a B-24 Liberator in the Pacific theater during World War II.
He married Mardella Laufman Aug. 21, 1949, at Spencer. He graduated from Southern State Teachers College in 1951 and earned his master’s degree at Northern State University. For 38 years he worked as a teacher, coach, principal and superintendent. A strong advocate of academics and sporting activities, he also refereed high school and college sports. He was especially honored to be selected to referee many State B Basketball Tournaments.
He was a member and president of the South Dakota High School Activities Association, South Dakota Superintendents Association and received a 25-year coaching award from the South Dakota High School Coaches Association. Leo was a member of the American Legion and Masonic Lodge, receiving 50-year recognition for both.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Glen (Beth) of Brandon and Greg of Woonsocket; two daughters, Gloria (Roger) Damgaard of Sioux Falls and Gina (Nate) Trebilcock of Eden Prairie, Minn.; six grandchildren, Stuart and Mike Uken, Andrew and Daniel Damgaard, and Anna and Kara Trebilcock; a great-grandson, Cade Damgaard; three brothers, Ray (Lorna) and Larry, both of Yankton, and William (Eileen) of La Habra, Calif.; two sisters, Leona Fryda of Springfield and Mary Cathey of Oceanside, Calif.; and a special nephew, Emil Uken of Harvard, Neb.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Glenn, Emil Jr. and Leonard, and two sisters, Lola Travnicek and Ruth Chacon.
