Barbara Ellen “Barb” Voigt was born on Sunday, January 2, 1955, at Yankton, South Dakota to Joseph and Margie (Kreber) Zilla. She graduated from Yankton High School in 1973 and received her nursing degree from Dakota Wesleyan University. Barb married Bruce Voigt on July 1, 1987 at Yankton, South Dakota. She worked as a Registered Nurse for over 30 years, serving as both a traveling nurse for several years and in Tyndall for many of those years. Barb passed away on Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital Hospice House following a five year battle with cancer. She was 57 years, 3 months and 21 days old.

Barb is survived by her husband, Bruce Voigt of Tyndall; three children: Joseph Voigt and Joshua Voigt, both of Tyndall, and Kari Voigt of Brookings; two brothers: Joseph (Joan) Zilla of Mitchell and John Zilla of Scott City, Kansas; and three sisters: Bernie (Ron) Riley of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mary Kay Zilla of Hill City, and Gerri Sufficool of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Margie Zilla.

Following her memorial service, there will be a time of sharing, food and fellowship at the Lewis & Clark Resort Lodge, near Lewis & Clark Lake. The route to the lodge will be marked with white balloons.

James Lawrence Fryda, Jr.

Age 84

James Lawrence Fryda, Jr. was born Thursday, September 8, 1927 at Kennebec, South Dakota. He was the fifth of six children born to James and Wilhelmina “Minnie” (Wagner) Fryda, Sr. They later moved to the Tyndall area, where he attended country school and later Tyndall High School through his sophomore year. Jim was united in marriage to Maxine Lange on January 29, 1947 at the Lutheran minister’s home in Vermillion. They farmed in the Avon area for several years and later moved to a Tyndall area farm. From there, they moved into Tyndall where he purchased and drove a bulk fuel truck for Cenex. Jim was among the first guards hired at the newly opened Mike Durfee State Prison in Springfield. During his time there, he was honored both as Employee of the Month and Employee of the Year. He worked at the prison until his retirement. Jim loved to hunt and fish, and enjoyed hunting and fishing trips to Canada and Alaska. He also enjoyed a sight-seeing trip to Mexico with family. He will be remembered for his green thumb, homemade wine and smoked fish. Jim passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society of Tyndall at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 7 days.

Grateful for having shared Jim’s life are his wife of 65 years, Maxine Fryda of Tyndall; nine children: Linda (Alvin) Jonkers of Avon, Larry (Judy) Fryda of South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Connie (Vernon) Ishmael of Springfield, Janet (Ronald) Wagner of Tyndall, Richard (Valerie) Fryda of Scotland, Barbara (Michael) Layton of Hot Springs, Tommy (Ann) Fryda of Omaha, Nebraska, Patti (Keith) Auch of Harrisburg, and Lorri (Larry) Dietsch of Springfield; 13 grandsons: Michael Jonkers, Bradley Fryda, Steven Fryda, Kenny Wilson, James Ishmael, Christopher Fryda, Jason Dietsch, Justin Wagner, Aaron Dietsch, Ryan Dietsch, Connor Auch, Austin Auch and Scott Fryda; 10 granddaughters: Karen Jonkers Lang, Karla Jonkers Kocer, Kelly Wilson Graham, Becki Jonkers Sigl, Jill Fryda Aarstad, Jennifer Wagner, Amber Ishmael Morvant, Kayleen Wagner, Emma Fryda and Molly Fryda; 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Hazel Kaufman of Yankton and Evelyn (Bob) Coleman of Springfield; and two sisters-in-law: Leona (Mrs. Lewis) Fryda of Tyndall and Doris (Mrs. Don) Fryda of Oxford, Nebraska.

In addition to his parents, Jim and Minnie Fryda, Jim was preceded in death by three brothers: Lewis, Dale and Don; a brother-in-law, Charles Kaufman; and a sister-in-law, Elaine (Mrs. Dale) Fryda.

Sandra Kay Reiner

Sandra Kay Reiner was born on Sunday, October 25, 1942, at Parkston, South Dakota to Alvin and Eileen (Guthmiller) Reiner. She graduated from Tripp High School in 1961. She moved to California in the early 1970’s, when she worked as a civilian employee on Vandenberg Air Force Base near Lompoc, California. She later moved back to South Dakota. Sandra was a member of Frieden’s Reformed Church and served on Frieden’s Ladies’ Guild. She also volunteered at the Good Samaritan Society in Tripp and was active in the Tripp American Legion Auxiliary. Through the years, Sandra assumed the role of caring for her parents. She generously supported her parents during their later years, allowing them to continue their independence on the family farm. She was a loving aunt and loved spending time with her nieces and nephews. Due to health problems, she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society of Tripp in February of 2010. Sandra passed away on Monday, April 2, 2012 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 69 years, 5 months and 7 days.

Sandra is survived by three brothers and their families: Leon (Pat) Reiner of Tripp, Maurice (Connie) Reiner of Omaha, Nebraska, and Michael (Annie) Reiner of Tripp; one sister-in-law, Joanne Reiner of Freeman; and thirteen nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Alvin and Eileen Reiner, she was preceded in death by her brother, Glen Reiner, in 1989.

Debra Denice (McFarland) Kougl Schmeling was born Friday, September 7, 1956 to LaVern and Marcie (Nepodal) McFarland. She graduated from Yankton High School in 1973. She graduated from USD and touched many lives with her chosen career paths. She married John Kougl and they had a daughter, Jessica. Debra always put the needs and wellbeing of her daughter first. She married William Schmeling in 2000 and began a new chapter in her life. Debra gained a strong spirituality though her numerous years in AA. She always had a kind heart to guide others though their difficult times. Due to her caring soul, she was a mother to more children than her biological child. Debra passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 55 years, 10 months and 10 days.

Debra is survived by her husband, William Schmeling of Brandon; three daughters and their families: Jessica (Dave) Murphy of Valley Springs and grandsons J.D. and Connor, Hilary (Roger) Iverson of St. Paul, Minnesota and Connor and Cody, and Rachel (Neil) Zigerman of Chisago City, Minnesota and Nathan and Max; her mother, Marcie McFarland of Tyndall; two brothers and a sister: Marlan McFarland, Bryan McFarland and Tami McFarland, all of Sioux Falls; and all the people that were blessed to meet and love her.

She is preceded in death by her father, LaVern McFarland, an uncle, Karl Winckler, and numerous other aunts, uncles and loved ones.

Frank Peschl

Frank Peschl was born on Tuesday, April 8, 1913 in Yankton, South Dakota to John and Mary (Spahn) Peschl. He grew up in Yankton and attended Yankton Elementary and High Schools. He graduated from Yankton High School in 1931. Following high school, he went into business with John Marek at the Standard Market in Yankton. In 1941, he moved to Tyndall and started Peschl’s Market and Lockers. He kept that business until 1971 when he sold it to his son. He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. Frank married Kathryn Brennan on October 16, 1934. Four children were born to this union. Kathryn died in 1970. On August 4, 1973 Frank married Norma Evers. He was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church. Frank passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2012 having achieved the age of 99 years, 3 months, and 7 days.

Frank is survived by his wife, Norma, of Tyndall; three children: John T. (Ginger) Peschl of Tyndall, Kay (Tom) Hayden of Plymouth, Minnesota, and Theresa (Dennis Johnson) Rokusek of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; two step-children: Roger (Connie) Evers of York, Nebraska and Mary Vanderlinde of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; eight grandchildren: Mike (Barb) Peschl, Karen (Bob) Schmidt, Pam (Rick) Novak and Kim (Bill) Wenzel of Tyndall, Kevin (Anne) Hayden, Mika (James) Kunz, Jason (Missy) Rokusek and Trevor (Michelle Grant) Rokusek, all of Minneapolis, Minnesota; twelve great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and eight step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Ernest Peschl; and many nieces and nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn; a daughter, Michaelene; five brothers: Albert, John, Joe, Jim and Fred; and four sisters: Ann Boswell, Betty Peschl, Mary Nedved and Dorothy Svatos.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established by the family in Frank's memory.

Paul Marvin Neth

Paul Marvin Neth was born on Thursday, December 9, 1965 to Marvin and Lois (Blaufuss) Neth at Tyndall, South Dakota. Paul graduated from Scotland High School in 1984 and was active at Scotland United Church of Christ and in 4H. He graduated from SDSU in 1988 with degrees in Engineering Physics and Computer Science. Paul married Laura Buckwalter on June 23, 1989. They moved from Sioux Falls to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1990. In 1992, they moved to the Denver, Colorado area, living for seven years in Aurora, Colorado. In 2000, they moved from Aurora to Eagan, Minnesota where Paul worked for NACR (North American Communications Resource) and Univita, where he was a Database Administrator. He left there in August of 2010 due to his disability. He was active in the Huntington's Disease Society of America's local chapter and support group and assisted in the planning of the Huntington's Disease Society of America's (HDSA) national convention in Bloomington, Minnesota in 2011. He was an avid golfer and woodworker. Paul was a lifelong fan of the Denver Broncos and was especially happy to live in Colorado when the Broncos won back-to-back Superbowls. Paul passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at his residence in Minneapolis at the age of 46 years, 6 months and 26 days.

Paul is survived by his son, Michael Paul Neth of Eagan, Minnesota; his mother and stepfather, Lois (Gerard) Hehn of Sioux Falls; sister Janelle (Wayne) Hesman of Doniphan, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Kim Neth of Scotland; three nieces: Jenna Neth of Watertown, and Megan and Kaitlyn Hesman of Doniphan, Nebraska; and his former wife, Laura Neth of Eagan, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Neth, and his brother, Richard Neth.

Linda Darnell Hajek was born on Tuesday, August 26, 1952 in Caledonia, Minnesota to Harold, Sr. and Alice (Twite) Heaney. She graduated from Caledonia High School in 1971. Linda was united in marriage to Jerry Hajek on December 30, 1971 at Brookings, South Dakota. She was a cook for the Senior Nutrition Site, SEMCAC, and later ran a daycare in her home. Linda loved to cook and also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and collecting dolls. She was a member and Past President of the American Legion Auxiliaries in both Caledonia and Tyndall, and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Brownsville, Minnesota. After moving to Tyndall, she worked at the Tyndall Bakery and the Corral. Linda passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at her residence in Tyndall at the age of 59 years, 10 months and 9 days.

Linda was the beloved wife of Jerry Hajek of Tyndall; loving mother of Kimberly Jo Heaney (deceased), Angela (Scott) Dolle of Caledonia, Minnesota and Dennis (Amy) Hajek of Eyota, Minnesota; cherished grandmother of Alexander Hajek, Jacob Dolle, Samantha Hajek, Jena Dolle and Olivia Hajek; a loving daughter to Harold, Sr. and Alice Heaney of Caledonia, Minnesota; a dear sister to Harold (Susie) Heaney, Jr. of Caledonia, Minnesota and deceased brothers Lyle and Mark Heaney; daughter-in-law of Leonard and Audrey Hajek of Tyndall; and sister-in-law of David Hajek of Sioux Falls, Dwight Hajek of Deadwood, and Dianne (Arthur) Klein of Cedar Falls, Iowa. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
