Wesley Bau

REDFIELD — Wesley Bau, 78, Redfield and formerly of Frankfort, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.

Survivors include three daughters, Rita Kissner, Redfield, Barbara Bau, Rapid City, and Cheryl Wilde, Scarville, Iowa; two sons, Allen Bau, Castlewood, and Dan Bau, Faulkton; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Vernon Bau, Truman, Minn.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield, and for one hour before services Saturday, Sept. 22, at United Methodist Church in Frankfort.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Donald Barbalace officiating.

Burial will be at Mount Hope cemetery in Frankfort.

Frank H. Hanken

RAPID CITY — Frank H. Hanken, 98, Rapid City, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, in a Rapid City nursing home.

Survivors include one son, Dennis Hanken, Rapid City; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending with Osheim-Catron Funeral Home of Rapid City.

Brian E. Watson

STURGIS — Brian E. Watson, 25, of Sturgis, was killed in an accident near Deadwood on Tuesday, September 18, 2001.

Brian was born at Clearwater, Florida, on December 18, 1975, to Calvin and Joan Watson. He grew up in Florida and moved to Sturgis when he was 14 years old. He graduated from Sturgis High School in 1995. Brian has lived in Sturgis since. He attended the Western Dakota VoTech School in Rapid City and also VoTech in Laramie, Wyo. He graduated as a mechanic and street rod. He worked for the City of Sturgis, and later for Uncle Jim Dempsey in the salvage yard and also at the Nissan and Chevrolet dealership in Rapid City. The past two years, he has worked for a very close friend, Dan and Rose Sletton's Towing and auto shop in Sturgis.

Survivors include his mother, Joan Watson of Sturgis; his father, Calvin Watson of Georgia; three brothers and their families, Thomas and his wife, Susan, and children Olivia and Elias of Clearwater, Fla., Roger and his wife, Maria, of Hawaii, and Keith Watson of Los Angeles, Calif.; his very special maternal grandmother, Dorothy of Sturgis; also numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his two grandfathers and paternal grandmother.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2001, at 2 p.m. at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Terry Brough officiating. Burial will be at Clearwater, Florida.

Visitation will be at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel on Friday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.

Donald R. Cotney

SUNDANCE, Wyo. — Donald R. Cotney, 59, Sundance, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, in Sundance.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Cotney, Sundance; his mother, Mable Cotney, Burney, Calif.; three sons, Gerald Cotney, Upton, Philip Cotney, Casper, and Emit Cotney, Laramie; one daughter, Julia Land, Sundance; eight grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Cotney, Burney; and two sisters, Honey Pierson, Burney, and Jo Rand, Arkansas.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Fidler-Roberts Funeral Chapel in Sundance, with the Rev. Troy Heidt officiating.

Herbert Arnold Wicker

PAVILLIN, Wyo. — Herbert Arnold Wicker, 73, Pavillin, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, at Riverton Memorial Hospital in Riverton.

Survivors include his wife, Esther Wicker, Pavillin; one son, Dennis Wicker, Longview, Wash.; two daughters, Darla Middleton, Cottonwood, Ariz., and Dianne Phillips, Riverton; one sister, Evelyn Adle, Cozad, Neb.; and two brothers, Dwight Wicker, Evansville, and Roy Wicker, California.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Mountain View cemetery in Riverton, with the Rev. Earl Detwiler officiating.

Davis Funeral Home of Riverton is in charge of arrangements.

George Lee Hardenbrook

RAPID CITY — George Lee Hardenbrook, 69, Rapid City, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001, at Wesleyan Health Care in Rapid City.

Survivors include two sisters, Cora Perkins, Lithonia, Ga., and Dorothy Dunlap, Kelso, Wash.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis, with a Fort Meade Veterans Affairs chaplain officiating.

Burial, with military honors by Sturgis Honor Guard, will be at Black Hills National cemetery.

Campbell, Paula & Quinn Funeral Home of Rapid City is in charge of arrangements.

Lane Thomas Scott

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Lane Thomas Scott, 30, Gillette, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Michele Scott, Gillette; his parents, Tom and Jan Scott, Gillette; one sister, Kristin Hamley, Eagle, Colo.; and one brother, Jon Scott, Gillette.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Wilson Funeral Home in Gillette.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gillette, with the Rev. Nathan Brandt officiating.

Burial will follow at Mount Pisgah cemetery in Gillette.

Dick Latham

NEWCASTLE, Wyo. — Dick Latham, 74, Newcastle, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at Weston County Health Services in Newcastle.

Survivors include one son, James Latham, Torrington, Wyo.; three daughters, Lori Zimmerman, Deadwood, S.D., Kathleen Hemrick, Richfield, Ohio, and Linda Napolitano, Newcastle; and one brother, Darrell Latham, West Hills, Calif.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Worden Chapel in Newcastle.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel.

Burial will be Monday, Oct. 1, at Greenwood cemetery in Newcastle, with the Rev. Trish Underberg officiating.

Evelyn J. Howes

CUSTER — Evelyn J. Howes, 93, Custer, passed away November 7, 2001, in Custer, S.D. She was born at Buffalo Gap, S.D., to John and Grace Maxson on May 15, 1908.

Evelyn married Archie Howes in 1925 and had two sons, Max and Leo.

Survivors include grandsons Jerry Trainer, Lincoln, Neb., Steve Trainer, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Mark Howes, Catalina, Ariz. Granddaughters include Roxanne Howes-Folmer, Bismarck, N.D. and Becky Kerfoot, Tucson, Ariz.; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 9, 2001, at 7 p.m. at Rooks-McColley's Chapels of the Hills in Custer, S.D.

Dr. Anne E. Kryger

HALLSVILLE, Texas — Dr. Anne E. Kryger, 97, Hallsville and formerly of Lead, S.D., died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at Clairmont Nursing Home in Longview, Texas.

Survivors include three sons, Hugo Kryger, Hallsville, Dr. Paul Kryger, Baltimore, and Dr. Markus Kryger, Forsyth, Mo.; three daughters, Annelise Overton, Hammond, La., Marguerite Ciolkosz, State College, Pa., and Jozine Biessener, Stillwater, Minn.; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Fidler Funeral Chapel in Spearfish, S.D., with the Rev. R. Julian Hill officiating.

Burial will follow at Oakridge cemetery in Deadwood, S.D.

Vincente C. Muniz

NEWCASTLE, Wyo. — Vincente C. Muniz, 57, Newcastle, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at Hot Springs Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Hot Springs, S.D.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Muniz, Newcastle; one son, Trinidad Muniz, Greeley, Colo.; one foster son, Karl Berger, Iowa; two daughters, Bertha Castiano, Waco, Texas, and Anita Muniz, Tulia, Texas; three brothers, Joe Muniz and Louie Muniz, both of Iowa, and Albert Muniz, Greeley; and six sisters, Juanita Gonzales, Idelita Guevara, Maria Muniz, Petra Salcido and Ernstina Muniz, all of Greeley.

A rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at Worden Funeral Chapel in Newcastle.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Newcastle, with the Rev. Bruce Clapham officiating.

Burial will be at Greenwood cemetery in Newcastle.

Roy F. Avery

RAPID CITY - Roy F. Avery, 85, Rapid City, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Amy Avery, Rapid City; one son, Gaylord Ralph Avery, Rapid City; one daughter, Doris Link, Rapid City; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending with Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Local arrangements are under the direction of Osheim-Catron Funeral Home.

Milford H. Braden

STURGIS - Milford H. Braden, 92, Sturgis, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at Sturgis Community Long Term Care Center.

Survivors include one son, Millard Braden, Sturgis; one daughter, Marianne Gregerick, Lady Lake, Fla.; one sister, Florence Michaelsen, Santa Barbara, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3 p.. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel. Private family interment services will be held at Bear Butte cemetery in Sturgis.

Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis is in charge of arrangements.

Caryl Ann Rounds Ellis

PRESCOTT, Ariz. - Caryl Ann Rounds Ellis, 66, of Prescott, passed away December 28, 2001, at her home.

She was born June 22, 1935, to C.W. and Dorothy Rounds in Rapid City, South Dakota. She grew up and graduated from high school in Rapid City. She married Glenn Ellis on September 2, 1957. Caryl furthered her education with degrees from Northern Colorado Teachers College, Black Hills State Teachers College and a graduate degree from the University of Arizona.

Caryl lived and taught school in Winner, S.D., until moving to Prescott, Ariz., in 1973 with her family. She was the elementary librarian for Prescott Public Schools until retirement in 1995. Retirement was spent traveling with Glenn to visit family, friends and new places.

Caryl is survived by her husband, Glenn, sons, Brad of Spearfish, S.D., Rodney of Prescott, Ariz., Scott and wife Donna of New River, Ariz., and five grandchildren; brother Chuck Rounds; sisters Dorothy Peck, and Marjorie Smartt, all of Rapid City, S.D.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Jean Estenson.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. January 2, 2002, at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St., Prescott AZ 86303.
