Pamela S. Watland

WICHITA, Kan. - Pamela S. Watland, 41, Wichita and formerly of Lemmon, S.D., died Sunday, Sept. 23, in Wichita.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Lemmon, with the Rev. Harold Watrous and the Rev. John Langehough officiating.

Burial will be at Greenhill cemetery in Lemmon.

Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home of Lemmon is in charge of arrangements.

Dale Eugene Griffee

DALLAS - Dale Eugene Griffee, 49, Dallas and formerly of Rapid City, S.D., died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, in Dallas.

Survivors include five brothers, David Griffee,

Donnie Griffee and Dan Griffee, all of Rapid City, Dwight Griffee, Sturgis, and Dennis Griffee, Lake Mills, Wis.; three sisters, Dorothy Griffee, Rapid City, Dwyla Martin, Pittsburgh, and DeAnn Winckler, Casper, Wyo.; and his mother and her husband, Joanna and Darrel Johnson, Rapid City.

Arrangements are pending with Eastgate Funeral Home of Garland, Texas.

John Vincent Rekus

BELLE FOURCHE — John Vincent Rekus, age 95, of Belle Fourche passed away on Monday, November 5, 2001, at the Belle Fourche Community Long Term Care Center in Belle Fourche. In keeping with his wishes, no local services will be held; private family services will be held in Chicago, Ill. Local arrangements were with the Carlsen & Aldinger Funeral Home in Sturgis.

John V. Rekus was born August 11, 1906, in Chicago to parents Adam and Mary Rekus. He grew up in the Chicago area and on July 2, 1927, was united in marriage to Julia Kluss. They made their home in River Grove, Ill., where they raised 3 children.

John was an avid drummer in a band in his younger years and worked as a banker and real-estate agent. Upon retirement, John and Julia moved to Paw Paw, Mich., where he enjoyed fishing and tending his garden, Julia passed away in 1983. John moved to Belle Fourche, where he could be close to his family and enjoyed visiting with old and new friends he'd meet on his regular trips to Deadwood. John's health forced him to move into the Long Term Care Center in the spring of 2001.

He was preceded in death by his wife and two children.

He is survived by his daughter, Joyce Rekus-Bellew of Rapid City, and her children, Julie and Mark Lewandowski and their son, Mark Jr., of Belle Fourche, James and Rhoda Matrisciano and their son, Skye, of Tampa, Fla., and daughter-in-law Marion Rekus of River Grove, Ill., and her children, Nichole and Nick Zumpano, and their children, Abby and Jack of Bloomingdale, Ill., John V. Rekus III and his son, Brandon, of River Grove, Ill.

Arrangements are with the Carlsen & Aldinger Funeral Home in Sturgis.

Louise Bringman

EAGLE BUTTE - Louise Bringman, age 89, of Eagle Butte, S.D., passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2001, at the Beverly Health Care Center in Pierre, S.D.

Funeral services for Louise will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 10, 2001, at the United Church of Christ in Eagle Butte, with Rev. Daniel Sheehan officiating. Burial will be in the United Eagle Butte cemetery under the direction of the Luce Funeral Home of Eagle Butte. Prayer services will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday evening at the United Church of Christ.

Louise Hinzman was born on December 11, 1911, at Avon, S.D., the second child and only daughter of Alex J. and Johanna (Radack) Hinzman. The family homesteaded southeast of Eagle Butte.

Louise is survived by one daughter, Pauline (Gene) Webb of Eagle Butte; one brother, Paul (Shirley) Hinzman of Pierre; five grandchildren, Amy (Terry) Plucker of Centerville, David Webb of Rapid City, John (Sheila) Webb of Warroad, Minnesota, Brian (DeAnn) Webb of Isabel, and Aaron Webb of Mitchell; and five great-grandchildren, Alexander and Nathan, Austyn and Zachery, and Vance Cole; along with many loved nieces and nephews.

Frieda A. Weller

RAPID CITY - Frieda A. Weller, 69, Rapid City, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at her home.

Survivors include her husband, LeRoy Weller, Rapid City; two daughters, Denise Weller, Sioux Falls, and Rhonda Hansen, Rapid City; three sons, Dudley Weller, Denver, and Rodney Weller and Dana Weller, both of Rapid City; three brothers, Albert Adam and Gottfried Adam, both of Roscoe, and Gust Adam, Apache Junction, Ariz.; two sisters, Clara Hoffer, Las Cruses, N.M., and Christine Stroud, Denver; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending with Kirk Funeral Home of Rapid City.

Eleanor E. Frank

WINNER - Eleanor E. Frank, 77, Winner, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Survivors include her husband, Neil Frank, Winner; two daughters, LaVonne Harter, Witten, and Jeanne Welsh, Centennial, Colo.; two sons, Neil Frank Jr., Winner, and Nick Frank, Valentine, Neb.; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Delvin Rahn, Fargo, N.D.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, with a 7 p.m. rosary service, at Mason Funeral Home in Winner.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Winner.

Burial will be at Winner cemetery.

Agnes Elizabeth Price Paulsen

STURGIS - Agnes Elizabeth Price Paulsen, 88, Sturgis, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at Sturgis Long Term Care Center.

Survivors include two sons, Billy Price, Lampasas, Texas, and Jerry Price, Whitewood; one daughter, Donna Nelson, Sturgis; two brothers, Max Heberling, Black Foot, Idaho, and George Yates, Butte, Mont.; one sister, Irene Tapken, Sturgis; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Two husbands, Vern Price and Henry Paulsen, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis, with the Rev. Harold Brink officiating.

Elwood E. Saunders

FORT WORTH, Texas — Elwood E. Saunders, 80, Fort Worth and formerly of Interior, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, at a Fort Worth hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Freddie-Lu Saunders; one daughter, Betty Coffman; two grandsons; and one sister, Harriett Puckett.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Shannon Rufe Snow Drive Funeral Chapel in Fort Worth.

Services were held Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the funeral home.

Helen M. Graham McNally

NEW UNDERWOOD —

Helen M. Graham McNally, 78, of New Underwood, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Helen was born March 27, 1923, at Chadron, Neb., to Walter and Hazel (Manchester) Hoagland. She graduated from high school at Rushville, Neb., in 1941. On April 22, 1942, she married Bert F. Graham at Watsonville, Calif. The family moved to South Dakota in 1962, and she had resided in New Underwood since 1971. For many years she worked at the Commissary at Ellsworth Air Force Base, where she met James A. McNally. They were married in June of 1974.

The most fulfilling part of Helen's life was giving of herself to others.

She is survived by four children, Ronald Graham of Sacramento, Calif., Linda Miller of Henderson, Nevada, Michael Graham of Black Hawk, S.D., and Karen Graham of Hopkins, Minn.; two sisters, Nadine Retzlaff of Clinton, Neb., and Charlotte Fankhauser of Chadron, Neb.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a special friend, Janice Jensen of New Underwood; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jim; two brothers, Harold and Donald; and one sister, Myrtle Closson.

A preservice luncheon for family and friends will be held at noon Friday at the United Church of Christ in New Underwood.

Following private interment at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis, memorial services are set for 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City, with the Rev. Cheryl Stewart officiating.

A memorial has been established.

Ernest B. Schleuning Jr.

RAPID CITY — Ernest B. Schleuning Jr., 72, of Rapid City, died Wednesday, November 7, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Ernest was born and lived in Rapid City. He owned and operated a tractor implement dealership with his wife and son until his retirement.

Ernest enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He had many good friends and neighbors who shared in his life. He had a good sense of humor and touched many lives.

He is survived by three children, Dianne Schleuning-Abeln and her husband, Dale, Ernie Schleuning III and his wife, Lorri, and Vickie Schleuning; four grandchildren, Lisa Abeln, Adam Abeln, Tiffany Schleuning and Andrew Schleuning; and his dog, Mitzi.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary, and brother, Verne.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 8, 2001, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Behrens Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, November 9, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Burial will be at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis, S.D.

Military honors will be provided by the Sturgis Honor Guard.

A special thank you to the staff of the Cancer Care Institute, the oncology floor, and the Home Health Care, and Dr. Kevin Weiland and Dr. David Bartsch, whose care and compassion was appreciated by the family.

Pamela Mary ‘Pam' Hoag

ASHTON — Pamela Mary "Pam" Hoag, 41, Ashton, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Survivors include her husband, Tim Hoag, Ashton; one son, Ryan Hoag, Ashton; her parents, Frank and Mary Ann Fransen, Pierre; three brothers, David Fransen, Aberdeen, Gerald Fransen, Parrish, Fla., and Patrick Fransen, Houston, Texas; four sisters, Shirley Rush, Enid, Okla., Jean Oberfoell, Ashton, Kathy Heier, Aberdeen, and Mary Lynn Schmidt, Cavour.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with a scriptural service at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Redfield, with the Rev. Roger Geditz officiating. Burial will be at St. Bernard's cemetery.

Debra J. Opp

PIEDMONT — Debra J. Opp, 37, Piedmont, passed away Friday Oct. 5, 2001, near her home as the result of an auto accident.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at South Park United Church of Christ in Rapid City, with Pastor Bruce Herrboldt officiating. Burial follows at the Keystone cemetery in Keystone.

Deb was born April 4, 1964, at Moorhead, Minn., to Dale and Loretta Coulter. She grew up in Grand Forks, N.D., and graduated from Red River High School in Grand Forks. She then moved to Texas.

She married Kevin Opp on April 14, 1989, in Grand Forks. In 1991, the couple made their home in Piedmont, which she adored. She could live the loves of her life, which included living in the country, fishing, gardening, her animals and horses, her family and the people.

She will be greatly missed by all that knew her and loved her dearly,

Survivors include her husband, Kevin Opp, Piedmont; two sons Dustin and Kasey, both of Piedmont; her parents Dale end Loretta Coulter, Grand Forks; her sister, Sandy Olson, Roosevelt, Minn.; and her brother, Russ Coulter, Warroad, Minn.

A memorial has been established.

Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis is in charge of arrangements.

Norma Carol Kaiser Kaeding

RAPID CITY — Norma Carol Kaiser Kaeding, 90, Rapid City, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Boschker and Andre Kaiser, both of Rapid City; one sister, Doris Lierboe, Whitefish, Mont.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending with Osheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City.
