Rose Marie Holt

URBANDALE, Iowa — Rose Marie Holt, 87, Urbandale and formerly of Newell, S.D., died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2001, at Kavangh House in Urbana.

Survivors include one daughter, Sheila Hunsucker, Rapid City, and two grandchildren.

Services were Thursday, Aug. 30, at Gospel Assembly Church in Urbandale.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Committal services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis, with the Rev. Harry Giffin officiating.

Delbert Ray Gorham

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — Delbert Ray Gorham of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord August 27, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Iona Jean Gorham; and Rodney C. Gorham of Broken Arrow,

Vicki J. Bartlett of Locust Grove, Okla., Andrew R. Gorham of Coronado, California, and Ward E. Gorham of San Diego, California; and one granddaughter, Amy Rebecca Gorham of Coronado, Calif. Delbert was born on Jan 12, 1922, in New Underwood, South Dakota.

He also is survived by Jay Gorham of Spearfish; Marge Perkin of San Diego; twin sister Della McDaniel of Kentwood, Louisana; and brother John Gorham of Medford, Oregon; besides numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents, Ellis and Hazel Gorham; and two brothers, Gerald and Irving Gorham. Memorial services were held in Broken Arrow at Our Finest Hour Church, with Pastor Jerry Zirkle officiating. Interment will be in Rosehill cemetery in the family plot in Spearfish, South Dakota.

Delbert served in the Marine Corp during WWII from 1943 to 1946, with the Engineers, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant while in China. Coming back to Spearfish, he was a partner in Gorham Bros., leaving many testimonies of his work as a craftsman blacksmith, welder. He served as a Volunteer Fireman and a City Council member as well as being a charter member of the Spearfish Canyon Golf Club. He was instrumental in changing the course from a sand greens course to grass greens, also putting in the major watering system and pushing the members for the swimming pool, clubhouse and cart sheds. He also worked diligently to help get the first hospital in Spearfish.

The family moved in 1970 to Tempe, Arizona. He retired from welding in 1987 and moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, in 1991. He will be missed by family and friends.

Dorotha Rollins

RAPID CITY — Dorotha Rollins, 95, Rapid City and formerly of Draper, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Arrangements are pending with Isburg-Hofmeister Funeral Chapel of Murdo.

Jinny M. Hoffman

ST. ONGE — Jinny M. Hoffman, 42, St. Onge, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, in a vehicle accident in Mountrail County, N.D.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Hoffman, St. Onge; two sons, Justin Skipper and Lorin Skipper, both of St. Onge; her parents, Lawrence and Dorothy Keppers, Brainerd, Minn.; and one sister, Janice Petersen, St. Cloud, Minn.

Arrangements are pending with Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche.

Patricia Ann Foster

RAPID CITY — Patricia Ann Foster, 79, of Rapid City, died Saturday Sept. 22, 2001, at a local nursing home.

Patricia was born Nov. 13, 1921, in St. Paul, Minn., to Ambrose and Mable (Nelson) Barth. She grew up and went to school in several different communities in Minnesota. Patricia attended Sioux Falls College from 1946 to 1948. She married Raymond L. Foster in Sioux Falls in 1953.

They lived in various places throughout the world, until settling in Rapid City in 1966, where Raymond retired from the military.

Patricia attended the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cathedral and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and Alanon.

Patricia loved to read, being around people and opened her home to anyone. She was an outgoing person and was known by many.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Jo Tipton, and husband, Dale, of Rapid City, their children, Shane and April; two sons, Michael B. Foster and wife, Denise, of Salem Ore., their children Ashley. Brett and Allie; Jeffrey E. Foster and wife, Kimberly, of Sioux Falls, their children, Meredith and Anna.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City and one hour before services at the church. A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Cathedral in Rapid City.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the church, with Fr. Timothy Castor and Fr. Bill Zandri as celebrants. Burial will follow at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis.

Ida Mary Koskela

RAPID CITY — Ida Mary Koskela, 80, of Rapid City, died Saturday Sept. 22, 2001, at a local nursing home.

Ida Mary Koskela was born on the home farm at Horsecreek near Newell, S.D., on May 28, 1921. She was the daughter of Henry A. and Hilma S. (Stolnak) Anderson. She graduated from Newell High School in 1939 and then obtained her teaching certificate from what was then Black Hills Teacher's College in Spearfish, S.D. She taught in the rural school system in Horsecreek, Opal, Custer Peak and Sunny Glen for six years. Additionally, Ida Mary was a Deputy County Superintendent for Butte County and lastly worked for several years at Thorpe's Jewelry in Deadwood, S.D., until her health forced her to retire early.

Ida Mary married Raymond R. Koskela on Aug. 17, 1947. The couple lived in Deadwood for many years, having recently moved to Rapid City within the past two years. The long-lasting union produced three children.

During her lifetime, she became an accomplished seamstress, sewing much of her own clothing and that of her daughter. She loved music and played the piano for many years, even after becoming blind from Diabetes, then learning to play by ear. She was able to speak three foreign languages, remaining fluent in Finnish until the time of her death. She was a member of VFW Post 5969 Auxiliary in Deadwood. for many years.

She will be sorely missed by her survivors, husband Raymond R.. Koskela of Rapid City; one son, Ronald R. Koskela and wife Carol of Ocean Side, Calif.; one daughter, Debra R. Brandt and husband Daniel of Rapid City and granddaughters Holly K. Brandt of Bozeman, Mont., and Michelle R. Brandt of Vermillion, S.D.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Kirk Funeral Home, and one hour before services.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at the funeral home with Pastor Bruce Baum officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis.

A memorial has been established to the American Diabetes Association.

Harry V. Jorgensen

WINNER — Harry V. Jorgensen, 75, Winner, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at Winner Regional Healthcare Center.

Survivors include his wife, Marian, Winner; two sons, Terry Jorgensen, James Island, S.C., and Tony Jorgensen, Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; two daughters, Nancy Jorgensen, Pomerene, Ariz., and Mary Ann Jorgensen, Bristol; and two granddaughters.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Tuesday, Sept. 25, at First Christian Church in Winner.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at the church.

Burial will be at Winner cemetery.

Mason Funeral Home in Winner is in charge of arrangements.

Jerome C. Hellman

LEMMON — Jerome C. Hellman, 78, Lemmon, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at his home.

Survivors include his daughter, Jean Sikes, Cary, N.C.; one brother, Frank J. Hellman, Rawlins, Wyo.; two sisters, Mary Rand and Betty Rante, both of Longview, Wash.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Prince of Peace Chapel of Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon, with the Rev. Dennis Riss officiating. Military honors will be provided by Brattvet-Green American Legion Post of Lemmon.

Virgil Wempe

BOX ELDER — Virgil Wempe, 65, Box Elder, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Spoonmore, Box Elder; three sons, Jay Wempe, Rapid City, Jim Wempe, San Diego, and Joe Wempe, Wicksville, Fla.; one daughter, Nikki Wempe, Rapid City; two sisters, Jen Grey, Mitchell, and Twila Carroll, Aurora, Neb.; and three grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending with Behrens Funeral Home of Rapid City.

David Alan Bott

SIOUX FALLS — David Alan Bott, age 32, of 400 North Leaders Avenue, died of a sudden heart attack on Saturday, September 1, 2001. David was born November 18, 1968, in Sioux Falls. He attended Bancroft and Lincoln Elementary, Edison Jr. High, and graduated from Washington High School. He attended USD and obtained his bachelor's degree in business administration — health services. In 1992, he joined Tealwood Care Centers as administrator at Colonial Manor in Hudson, S.D., and later transferred to Diamond Care Center in Bridgewater, S.D. He was working there at the time of his death.

On October 12, 1995, he was united in marriage with Julie Haibeck, and they made their home in Sioux Falls until the time of his death.

David was an avid race fan and racer. He raced go-karts at Saddle Back, and slot cars in Sioux Falls at the Hobbie Shop. He also enjoyed working with his father restoring his 1979 Malibu. He spent weekends in the pits of local racetracks with his family and many friends.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Julie, his daughter, Abby, and his stepson, Josh Chapman, all of Sioux Falls; his parents, Stan and Mary of Sioux Falls; his brother, Chris Bott and his fiancιe, Janet Bierle, of Sioux Falls; his sister, Susan Zebell and her husband, Jerry, of Parker, S.D.; two grandmothers, LaRena Bott Smith of Sioux Falls and Sophia Van Zee of Rock Valley, Iowa; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, mother-in-law, brothers and sisters-in-law; and many many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at East Side Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Woodlawn cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Valley View Chapel, with the family to greet friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Diamond Care Center in Bridgewater, S.D.

Olive B. Seaver

LEAD — Olive B. Seaver, 88, Lead, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, at Kirkwood Manor in Pluma.

Survivors include one daughter, Penny Essenk, Lead; one son, Lee Ray Hoffman, Long Beach, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Chaput Memorial Chapel in Lead, with the Rev. Steve Agan officiating.

Inurnment will be in California.

Robert A. McBee

RAPID CITY — Robert A. McBee, 73, Rapid City, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at his home.

Survivors include one son, Loral Williams, Rapid City; one daughter, Linda Williams, Tucson, Ariz.; one brother, George McBee, Monon, Ind.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending with Behrens Funeral Home of Rapid City.

Boneta S. ‘Bonnie' Warren

RAPID CITY — Boneta S. "Bonnie" Warren, 81, Rapid City, died at a Rapid City nursing home on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001.

She was born March 16, 1920, on a farm north of Philip, the daughter of James and Velva (Wedeman) Bell. She grew up on the family farm and attended rural schools there and in the Marietta Consolidated School.

Following graduation from high school at Philip in 1937, she attended Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen and received her teaching certificate. She taught school in the rural Haakon County area for a period of four years. In 1943, she and a sister began working at Hills Field Air Base near Ogden, Utah, in clerical work.

Bonnie returned to South Dakota and Rapid City in 1944 and was employed at Ellsworth Air Force Base. She was united in marriage to Glen O. Warren on March 10, 1951, at the Presbyterian Church in Philip, S.D. The couple made their home in Rapid City following their marriage. Two sons were born to this marriage, Craig and Ronald Warren. Bonnie stayed at home caring for her family until the boys went to college and then accepted employment with the Rapid City School District No. 51-4 as a principal's secretary. She worked in this capacity for a period of 18 years and considered this period to be a very pleasant and rewarding time in her life.

She was a member of Extension Club No. 53, a past member of Does Drove No. 33, active in Cub Scouts and Harney Little League Baseball and had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rapid City since 1947.

Due to ill health, she had been residing at a local nursing home since October of 1994.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Glen Warren, Rapid City; two sons, Craig Warren, Grand Junction, Colorado, and Ronald Warren and his wife, Nancy, Crown Point, Indiana; two granddaughters, Nicole and Amanda Warren, both of Crown Point; a brother, John Bell and his wife, Florence, Beaverton, Oregon; a sister, Lucile Harry, Philip, S.D.; and a special sister who preceded her in death, Hazel Ferguson, who resided in Ridgewood, New Jersey; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. today at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. David Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Mountain View cemetery.

A memorial has been established.

Lester A. Reiling

NEWCASTLE, Wyo. — Lester A. Reiling, 76, Newcastle and formerly of Lead, S.D., died Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, at Northern Hills General Hospital in Deadwood, S.D.

Survivors include four daughters, June Reiling, Deadwood, Patty Carr, Thornton, Colo., Judy Fleege, Boise, Idaho, and Mary McKettrick, Elko, Nev.; two sons, Robert Reiling, Lead, and Bill Reiling, Alliance, Neb.; one stepdaughter, Tanya Pzinski, Newcastle; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Thelma Irvine, Centerview, Mo.; and one brother, Everett Rotert, Montrose, Mo.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at Chaput Memorial Chapel in Lead.

A Christian wake and rosary service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lead.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. William Zandri officiating.

Burial with military honors will be at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis.
