Vernon Dale Newlander

BELLE FOURCHE - Vernon Dale Newlander, 64, Belle Fourche, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, at Lookout Memorial Hospital in Spearfish.

Survivors include one son, Duane Newlander, Belle Fourche; one daughter, Darla Torgrude, Yermo, Calif.; two sisters, Marcella Gunderson, Spearfish, and JoAnn Sarsland, Ludlow; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at Kline-Frost Funeral Chapel in Belle Fourche.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Hans Sacrison officiating.

Burial will follow at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis.

Phillip A. 'Phil' Toft Sr.

HUDSON - Phillip A. "Phil" Toft Sr., age 61, died Sunday, October 7, 2001, at his home in Hudson after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 12, at the Hudson Lutheran Church in Hudson. Burial will be at Eden cemetery of Hudson. Rev. Joe Smith will be officiating. Family visitation will be Thursday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m. by Rev. Mark Johnson.

Phillip A. Toft Sr. was born on September 19, 1940, in Sioux Falls, S.D., son of Howard and Lila (Trieber) Toft. He was baptized and confirmed in his faith at the Hudson Lutheran Church. Phil spent his childhood on the family farm near Hudson, attending country grade school and graduating from Hudson High School in 1959. Phil married Louella Rau on June 6, 1959, at the Hudson Lutheran Church. He worked for International Harvester in Sioux Falls from 1959 to 1973. Phil and family then moved to Aberdeen, S.D., where he worked as service manager for Smith Truck Sales until March of 1978. They moved to Rapid City, where Phil worked as service manager for Hersruds of Sturgis for a year before taking the service-manager position with Eddie's Truck Sales in Rapid City until June of 1999, when Phil and wife returned to Hudson. He was the service manager at Sterling Trucks of Sioux City from August of 1999 until his death.

Phil was an avid fisherman and a diehard Packer Backer. He also loved to read, especially Louis L'Amour novels. Phil loved his job fixing trucks and the people he worked with. He treated everyone with respect and honesty. Phil's family and friends enjoyed his fantastic sense of humor.

Grateful to have shared his life are his wife; his children, Phil Jr. and Rhonda Toft of Valley Springs, S.D., Paula and Mark Johnson of Fallbrook, Calif., Lorna and Steve Sundet of Fort Morgan, Colo., and Marc and Dawn Toft of Sioux Falls, S.D.; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Other survivors include Jerry and Jean Toft of Hawarden, Iowa, Jim and Andi Toft of Canton, S.D., Mavis and Arden Fjellanger of Sioux Falls, Lonnie and Paula Toft of Summerville, S.C., Lawrence and Hilma Ryken of Canton and Lorraine and Bud Hermanson of Hudson. Also surviving are brothers-by-marriage Jim and John Rau, sisters-by-marriage Ruth Rau and Diane Cole, special uncle/friend Floyd Wold, and many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents.

Ralph L. McKenney

CROOKS - Ralph L. McKenney, 63, Crooks and formerly of Sturgis, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at Avera McKennan Hospital.

Survivors include one daughter, Michelle Jones, Conifer, Colo.; two sons, Clint of Parker, and Wade of Crooks; two brothers, Robert of Rock Rapids, and Vince of Canton; two sisters, Irene Oaks, Scobey, Mont., and Evelyn Homandberg, Chandler, Minn.; special friend, Cathy Johnson, Crooks; and eight grandchildren.

There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at West Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Crooks.

Minnehaha Funeral Home in Baltic is in charge of arrangements.

Sarah Corey

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. - Sarah Corey, 86, McMinnville and formerly of Rapid City, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at McMinnville.

Survivors include one daughter, Terry Sorenson, McMinnville.

Local arrangements are pending under the direction of Osheim-Catron Funeral Home.

Donald L. Parker

KEYSTONE - Donald L. Parker, 85, Keystone, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

He is survived by one daughter, Elaine Maine, Keystone; one son, Darrell Parker of Washington; one brother, Jackie Parker, Lincoln, Ark.; one sister, Joann Kidd, Cody, Wyo.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending with Behrens Funeral Home in Rapid City.

Alexis Rhianna Raley

RAPID CITY — Alexis Rhianna Raley, 10-month-old daughter of Ryan Raley and Carrie Hunt, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2001.

Alexis was born Nov. 5, 2000, in Rapid City. Survivors include her parents, Ryan Raley and Carrie Hunt, Rapid City; a brother, Christopher Hunt, Rapid City; her grandparents, Gerald and Cindy Raley, Gillette, Wyo., Gordon and Cheryl Hunt, Battle Mountain, Nev., and Teresa Pontius, Deadwood, S.D.; and many other family members and friends.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Thursday until service time at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Dwight Stensgaard officiating.

Interment will be at the Pine Lawn cemetery.

A memorial has been established.

Donald E. King

HOT SPRINGS — Donald E. King, 69, Hot Springs, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Hot Springs.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at Rooks-McColley Funeral Chapel in Hot Springs.

Burial will be at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis at a later date.

Goldie Beare

RAPID CITY — Goldie Beare, 66, Rapid City, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Survivors include one son, Richard Beare, Minneapolis, and one daughter, Frances Beare, Winner.

Arrangements are pending with Behrens Funeral Home of Rapid City.

Ken M. Hansen

RAPID CITY — Ken M. Hansen, 39, Rapid City, died Saturday, September 15, 2001, at Piedmont, S.D.

He was born June 5, 1962, to Glenn M. and Rachel (Marcus) Hansen at Willmar, Minn. In 1971 he moved with his family to Rapid City, where he attended Stevens High School. After graduation he worked for the railroad and over the years he worked in construction in Texas, Arizona and Rapid City.

Ken loved his family dearly. His daughter, Lindsy, was very special to him, and he will be greatly missed by her and all. He enjoyed being out in the beautiful Black Hills and participating in many outdoor activities. He had a strong faith in God and was a very loving and compassionate person.

Left to mourn him are a daughter, Lindsy Hansen, age nine, Rapid City; his mother and stepfather, Rachel and Robert Moore, Rapid City; his father and stepmother, Glenn and Leasa Hansen, Post Falls, Idaho; two brothers, Kerry Hansen and his wife, Kellie, Spokane, Washington, and Mark Hansen and his wife, Mara, Rapid City; one sister, Jennifer Moore, Rapid City; his paternal grandmother, Lyla Hansen, Willmar, Minn.; two nephews, Mason and Michael Hansen; a stepnephew, Kevin; a niece, Morgan Hansen, and stepniece, Janae; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Pete and Lena Marcus, and paternal grandfather, Harvey Hansen.

Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 20, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home. Services will be Friday, Sept. 21, at 10 a.m. at Hope Christian Reformed Church (202 E. Philadelphia St.) with Rev. Randy Van Osdol officiating. Interment will be in the Mountain View cemetery, Rapid City.

A memorial educational fund has been established for his daughter, Lindsy.

Hilda Sperle

RAPID CITY — Hilda Sperle, 84, Rapid City, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, at her home.

Survivors include five daughters, Aileen Kinder, Rapid City, Delight Schaefer, Oakes, N.D., Barbara Lapka, Mitchell, Patricia Tschappat, Warner, and Pearl Geffre, Watertown; two sons, Kenneth Sperle, Helena, Mont., and Robert Sperle, Bismarck, N.D.; two sisters, Alma Nies, Pittsburg, Calif., and Louisa Heath, White Water, Wis.; four brothers, Dan Feickert, Ault, Colo., Leo Feickert, Lancaster, Calif., and Leonard Feickert and Benjamin Feickert, both of Aberdeen; 24 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Reformed Church in Leola.

Burial will follow at Greenmound cemetery in Leola.

Osheim-Catron Funeral Home of Rapid City is in charge of arrangements.

Minnie Elizabeth Budmayr

BELLE FOURCHE — Minnie Elizabeth Budmayr, 79, Belle Fourche, passed away Monday, September 17, 2001, at the Dorsett Health Care Facility in Spearfish.

She was born December 11, 1921, in Acquapendente, Italy, to Anthony and Maria (Golini) Fusi. At the age of five, she came to the United States through Ellis Island. She and her family resided in Trenton, New Jersey, graduating from Trenton High School.

She met her husband, Louis W. Budmayr, at Fort Dix in Trenton, New Jersey. They were married on May 16, 1946, in Belle Fourche.

Minnie was a member of West Side Extension Club and Colony Club. She was an active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. She was involved in Altar Society and coordinating CCD and CYO classes for youth.

She especially enjoyed traveling abroad to visit relatives in Rome, Italy. She had a love for Broadway plays, symphonies and operas.

Minnie took great and caring pleasure in her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Louis Budmayr, Belle Fourche; six sons, Leslie Budmayr, Belle Fourche, Randy Budmayr, Chandler, Ariz., Rick Budmayr and wife Jacqueline, Woodstock, Illinois, Russell Budmayr and wife Myla, Mission, S.D., Robert Budmayr and wife Jennifer, Belle Fourche, and Brian Budmayr and wife Hallie, Belle Fourche; two daughters, Maria Johnson and husband Jerry, Rapid City, and Nancy Budmayr, Minneapolis, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; a daughter-in-law, Nilda Budmayr; and two sons, Allan and Glen.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, September 20, at Kline-Frost Funeral Chapel in Belle Fourche.

A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, September 20, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Belle Fourche. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 21, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Belle Fourche, with Father Arnold Kari officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Slope cemetery in Belle Fourche.

A memorial has been established to the Diocesan Seminary Education Fund.

Ronni Andrews

RAPID CITY — Ronni Andrews, 47, left this life Saturday, September 15, 2001.

Her loving husband, Tom Lee; her mother, Marie Bentley, Mesa, Ariz.; her sister and brother-in-law, Sandi and Jim Ralston, Mesa, Ariz.; and her sister Linda Petersen, Omaha, Neb., survive her.

Ronni also had four nieces, Dawn Thurston, Phoenix, Ariz., Michele Conklin, Denver, Colo., Angela Egborts, Omaha, Neb., and Sheri Sullivan, Omaha, Neb.; two nephews, Kirk Thurston, Lake Havasu, Ariz., and Jim Ralston II, Apache Junction, Ariz.; and great-nieces and nephews, Megan Polvi, Courtney Thurston, Hannah Ralston, Angi Thurston, Kara Egborts, Krissy Egborts, Evan Conklin, Ryan Conklin, Tyler Ralston, Jonathan Thurston and Gary Egborts.

Ronni grew up and graduated from high school in Flagstaff, Ariz., and attended college in Phoenix, Ariz. She moved to Rapid City in 1978 and was employed by Black Hills Power and Light until 1983.

In 1983, she began her career in the investment business with Dain Rauscher as a registered sales assistant. From 1991 until April 2001, she was a registered representative with LPL Financial Services. From April 2001 until the time of her death, she was an investment advisor/partner in KT Investment Advisors, Rapid City.

Ronni lived life to the fullest despite suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. She loved to ski until a few years ago and play golf, and until the time of her passing, loved to ride her Harley. Her courage kept others from knowing the many days when she didn't feel well.

In her profession she loved to learn and delighted in becoming expert in all the new laws and investment opportunities in her rapidly changing business.

Her smile and twinkling eyes delighted all who knew her and she will be remembered for the joy she shared with so many.

She loved to cook, entertain and spend happy times with friends trying new recipes. Ronni had a passion for traveling to new destinations and spent many happy times walking on the beach with her husband.

She passed away knowing that she was going home to be with her Lord in everlasting life.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the South Canyon Baptist Church, with Rev. Tom Voigt officiating.

A memorial has been established.

Clarence Jefferson Walker

FAITH — Clarence Jefferson Walker, 80, Faith, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2001, at Madison Community Hospital in Madison.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Walker, Faith; one son, Clarence Walker, Austin, Pa.; two daughters, Judy Bush, Muncy, Pa., and Gladys Hunsinger, Austin; three stepsons, Barton Harris, Glad Valley, John Harris, Berryville, Va., and James Harris, Sturgis; one stepdaughter, Rebecca Stapert, Madison; one sister, Peggy Lipinski, Scranton, Pa.; 20 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at Fickinger Funeral Home in Coudersport, Pa., with an 8 p.m. Masonic service.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at Gilmore cemetery Chapel in Sinnemahoning, Pa.

Ellsworth Funeral Home of Madison is in charge of local arrangements.
