Clifford Wallace Twiss Jr.

ROCKYFORD — Clifford Wallace Twiss Jr., 30, Rockyford, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at Porcupine.

Survivors include seven brothers, Don Twiss, James Twiss and Patrick Ross, all of Porcupine, Richard Twiss, Rockyford, Duane Ross, Wounded Knee, Greg Ross, Flandreau, and Bill Ross, Gordon, Neb.

One-night wake begins at 3 p.m. today at Rockyford School.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at the school, with the Rev. Cordelia Red Owl and the Rev. Fred Mesteth officiating.

Burial will be at St. Mark's Episcopal cemetery in Rockyford.

Sioux Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Max M. Grove

RAPID CITY — Max M. Grove, 82, Rapid City, died at his residence Monday, Dec. 17, 2001.

Survivors include his wife, Ardelle Grove, Rapid City; two sons, Stephen Grove, Atlanta, Georgia, and Marshall Grove, Yakima, Wash.; a daughter, Stephanie Dean, Fargo, N.D.; and seven grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at the South Canyon Lutheran Church, with Rev. Bruce Thalacker officiating.

Services are under the direction of the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home.

Nevalyn Maria Gilbert

RAPID CITY — Nevalyn Maria Gilbert, 16, Rapid City, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, in Rapid City.

Survivors include her father, Allan Gilbert, Rapid City; three sisters, Tonya Moran and Michelle Curley, both of Pine Ridge, and Michelle Conners, Rapid City; five brothers, Allan Gilbert Jr., Sioux Falls, and Tyson Two Crow, Clifford Gilbert, Aaron Conners and Dennis Gilbert Jr., all of Rapid City; and her grandmother, Mildred Gilbert, Rapid City.

A wake service will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Rapid City.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at the church, with the Rev. Paul Sneve officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City.

Arrangements are with Kirk Funeral Home of Rapid City.

Frank H. Hanken

RAPID CITY — Frank H. Hanken, 98, Rapid City, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at a Rapid City nursing home.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Hanken, ; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Christie, and his daughters, Margie Holbrook and Bernice Feeney.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, with Rev. Brian Christensen as the celebrant.

Interment will be at Pine Lawn Memorial Park cemetery.

Arrangements are with Osheim-Catron Funeral Home.

Charles Tollinger

LITTLETON, Colo. — Charles Tollinger, 91, Littleton and formerly of Rapid City, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, in Littleton.

Survivors include one son, Tom Tollinger, Littleton; and four grandchildren.

Local arrangements are pending with Behrens Mortuary in Rapid City

Patricia Ann Foster

RAPID CITY — Patricia Ann Foster, 79, Rapid City, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at a local nursing home.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Jo Tipton, Rapid City; two sons, Michael B. Foster, Salem, Ore., and Jeffrey E. Foster, Sioux Falls; and seven grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending with Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City.

Byrle A. Beckman

SIOUX FALLS — Byrle A. Beckman, 75, Sioux Falls, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, in Sioux Falls.

Survivors include three sons, Randy, Black Hawk, Greg and Brian, both of Sioux Falls; one brother, Warren Boesel; and two sisters, Thelma Barber and June Baker; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at First Baptist Church. Burial will be at Hills of Rest Memorial Park in Sioux Falls.

Terry Tyrone Everett

CUSTER — Terry Tyrone Everett, 61, Custer, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, in an automobile accident near Hot Springs.

Terry Tyrone Everett was born Dec. 18, 1939, son of Merle Everett and Lorraine (Weber) Everett Heidepriem. The family moved to Custer when he was a small child, and he remained living in the area most of his life. He attended school in Custer and entered the U.S. Army in 1957. Terry served most of his tour of duty in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1960. He married Elsie Uherka in July 1961. Together they had two children, Terry Jr. and Shelly.

In 1985, he married Paddy Clifford in Custer, and they had one daughter, Trinity, currently a student at Custer High School.

Terry worked at the Homestake Mining Company in Lead, but worked in the sawmill and logging industry most of his life. He attended vocational training for auto body and also attended Chadron State College in Nebraska for one year.

He enjoyed horses, working on cars and visiting with friends.

He is survived by his son, Terry Jr. (Marilyn), Lakewood, Colo.; daughters Shelly (Ryan) Johnson, Phoenix, Ariz., and Trinity Everett and her mother, Paddy of Custer; two brothers, Larry Everett, Sturgis, and Fred Heidepriem, Gillette, Wyo.; one sister, Karla (Jim) Lyndoe, Custer; seven grandchildren; five nephews; four nieces; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, first wife, and one brother, Mike Everett.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at Rooks-McColley Funeral Home in Custer. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the funeral home, with Pastor Bill Savery officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Black Hills National cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to Rooks-McColley Funeral Home in Custer.

Curtis O. Lee

RAPID CITY — Curtis O. Lee, 75, of Rapid City, died Monday, August 20, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Curt was born March 18, 1926, in Watertown, S.D., to Clarence O. and Violet (Olson) Lee. Curt graduated from Hayti High School and then served two years in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Brookings in the South Pacific Theater. After World War II, he returned home and was united in marriage to Leuella Gilbertson on September 7, 1947. The couple made their home near Lake Norden, where they farmed until moving near Winner, S.D., in 1969. Curt farmed for 53 years in the Winner and Lake Norden-Hayti areas and had a great respect for the land. Farming was his passion.

Curt played amateur baseball at Lake Norden and was an avid fan of baseball. He loved to watch the game, from Little League to the majors. He also had a great love of fishing and hunting. The annual pheasant hunt with the Lees was a highlight for young and old alike.

Curt will always be remembered for his love of family and friends. He always had a good story to tell and never missed an opportunity to visit with his family and friends. His values of kindness, respect of others, hard work, love of family, friends and the land will be remembered and cherished.

Curt is survived by his wife, Leuella, of Rapid City; one son, Allen Lee of Rapid City; three daughters, Deanna (Ken) Schmidt of St. Louis, Mo., Deb (Bob) Jensen of Rapid City and Kim (Doug) Vogt of Hackettstown, N.J.; and nine grandchildren, Becky, Jenny, Jon, Ben and Katie Schmidt, Jim and Jessica Lee and Brad and Christine Jensen. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Merle and Francis; and one sister, Clarice Dahl.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 23, at South Canyon Lutheran Church in Rapid City, with Rev. Bruce Thalacker and Rev. Layne Nelson officiating.

Interment will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 24, at West Norden cemetery near Hayti.

Margaret Marie Whitney

PIERRE — Margaret Marie Whitney, 88, Pierre, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at Maryhouse Sub-Acute Center in Pierre.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna Jean Baragar, Florence, Colo.; three sons, George Whitney and Jim Whitney, both of Rapid City, and Wayne Whitney, Phoenix; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Jenkins, Rapid City, and Mildred Kitchen and Zona Eich, both of Pierre; and two brothers, Amil Dirksen, Rapid City, and Robert Dirksen, Sacramento, Calif.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family receiving callers from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Feigum Funeral Home in Pierre.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at First United Methodist Church in Pierre.

Burial will be at Riverside cemetery in Pierre.

Roxene Joneson

RAPID CITY — Roxene Joneson, 43, Rapid City, died at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001.

Roxene Joneson was born 12-11-57 in Huron, S.D., to Don and Ruth Thaden of Bancroft, S.D. She was raised on the family farm north of Bancroft. Her family moved to DeSmet in 1972. She was active throughout the community: a church pianist, tour guide for the Laura Ingalls Wilder Pageant Association, high school band member, and baton twirler. She participated in many competitions in performing arts, and the character traits developed there flowed through the rest of her life.

After graduating from DeSmet, she attended SDSU, majoring in Textiles and Clothing with a minor in piano. She was in the Pride of the Dakotas Marching Band, a little sister for the AGR Fraternity, an orientation guide for incoming freshman, and a pianist at campus ministry centers. During college she participated in local preliminaries of the Miss America Pageant. She won Miss Huron/State Fair in 1979 and was in the 1980 Miss South Dakota Pageant.

She joined JCPenney in Rapid City after college and was a senior merchandise manager at the store until the time of her illness. She and Mark were married 5-23-81 and lived in Rapid City the rest of her life. Her love of the piano was displayed throughout her life, playing for church, weddings and school events.

Her life was a particular blessing to her husband, Mark; her sons, Michael and Brooks; her father, Don; and brothers, Tom and Dave. Her mother, Ruth, went to heaven ahead of her.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. today at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home.

The celebration of her life will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, at South Canyon Baptist Church in Rapid City with Rev. Tom Voigt officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City.

A memorial has been established.

Richard D. Reyelts

ST. PETER, Minn. — Richard D. Reyelts, 51, St.

Peter and formerly of Milbank, S.D., died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Reyelts, St. Peter; one son, Nathan Reyelts, Omaha, Neb.; one daughter, Sarah Reyelts, North Mankato, Minn.; his mother, Doris Reyelts, Wilmot, S.D.; and four brothers, Gerald Reyelts, Fort Worth, Texas, Dennis Reyelts, Wilmot, David Reyelts, Rapid City, and Ricky Reyelts, Pierce, Colo.

Visitation, prayer service and funeral service were at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter. Cremation will be at a later date.

St. Peter Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Albert McHenry

FAITH — Albert McHenry, 93, Faith, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at Sturgis Community Health Care Center.

Survivors include one son, Don McHenry, Sturgis; one daughter, Norah Arnold, Faith; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending with Carlsen & Aldinger Funeral Home of Sturgis.

Damian Heinen

LEAD — Damian Heinen, 83, Lead, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at Northern Hills General Hospital in Deadwood.

Survivors include one son, Roy Heinen, Lead; and one brother, Don Heinen, Rapid City.

Christian wake and rosary service will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lead.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. today at the church.

Burial will be at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis.

Chaput Memorial Chapel of Lead is in charge of arrangements.
