At the age of two years he moved to Rapid City with his family, but spent quite a few summers working back on the Larson family farm in Sinai, S.D., with his Uncle Charlie and Aunt Delores. He attended high school at Rapid City High School and graduated in 1963, and went to college for one year in Springfield and one year in Brookings, S.D. Mick also had a very special interest in following and supporting his son, Trevor Larson, in golf. He thoroughly enjoyed seeing Trevor develop and evolve as a player.

Mick worked most of his life in the field of sales or sales management. He worked a number of years at A.Y. McDonald Supply, a plumbing and heating wholesale company in Gillette, Wyo., and up to a couple years ago managed a branch office here in Rapid City. He most recently held a position at Northwest Pipe here in Rapid City as well as prior to working at A.Y. McDonald Supply as a salesman and/or estimator.
