Bernice Alvina Borchard

Mansfield - The funeral for Bernice Alvina Borchard, 72, of Mansfield will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church near Mansfield.

The Rev. Wesley Hafner will officiate.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.

A prayer service will be at 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at the Bethesda Home in Aberdeen.

Bernice Herr was born July 17, 1930, to Gust and Alvina (Meidinger) Herr in Ashley, N.D.

She attended school in Ashley through the fourth grade. The family moved to Aberdeen, where she attended school and graduated from Central High School in 1948.

She then attended Northern State College in Aberdeen.

She was employed with Clifton-Anderson Agency as a secretary.

She married Robert "Bob" Borchard on Nov. 23, 1957, in Aberdeen. They lived and farmed in the Mansfield area.

She did volunteer work for U.S. Sen. Tom Daschle.

She became a resident of the Bethesda Home in Aberdeen in 1999.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church near Mansfield, Trinity Evening Circle, Trinity church choir, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, past Sunday school teacher and a member of the Mansfield Legion Auxiliary.

She enjoyed traveling, gardening, sewing and painting.

Survivors include her husband of Mansfield; two daughters, Karen (Jeff) Koch of Sacramento, Calif., and Kay (David) Atkins of Dix, Neb.; one son, John (Anita) Borchard of Aberdeen; one brother, Ray Herr of Jamestown, N.D.; one sister, Dorothy Cross of Greencastle, Ind.; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Casketbearers will be Greg Boekelheide, Dennis Haselhorst, Milton Haselhorst, Larry Krause, Robert J. Ristau and Eugene Wiedebush.

Bertha Meier

Verona, N.D. - The funeral for Bertha Meier, 64, of Verona will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Verona. The Rev. Mathew Pamplaniyil will officiate.

Burial will be at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery in Verona. Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Oakes, N.D., is in charge of arrangements.

A prayer service will be a 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at the Elim Care Center in Fargo, N.D.

Bertha Malard was born Dec. 6, 1937, to Charles and Hazel (Brown) Malard in Bismarck, N.D.

She grew up on a farm south of Menoken, N.D., and attended Telfer School.

She married Julius Meier on Jan. 27, 1957, in Bismarck. The couple then moved to Pierre.

In 1959, they moved to Zeeland, N.D., where they farmed on the Meier family farm. In 1974, they moved to Oakes.

She worked as a Certified Nurse's Assistant at the Oakes Good Samaritan Center.

They moved to Verona in 2000. In October 2002, she entered the Elim Care Center in Fargo, where she lived until her death.

She enjoyed embroidery, cards, fishing, and gardening.

Survivors include her husband Verona; six sons, Andy Meier of Jamestown, N.D., Calvin Meier of Glover, N.D., Clarence (Millie) Meier of Menahga, Minn., Leroy Meier of Oakes, David Meier of Verona, and Eugene Meier of Jamestown, N.D.; one daughter, Kathy (Cory) Anderson of Oakes; three brothers, Leon Malard of Bismarck,

Eugene Malard of Moffit, N.D., and Elroy Malard of Menoken, N.D.; five sisters, Marie Harr, Evelyn Clooten, and Anna Gabel, all of Bismarck, Charlene Gabel of Washburn, N.D., and Eunice Rants of Hebron, N.D.; and 20 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and five sisters.

Casketbearers will be her sons.

Kurt Korthour

Watertown - Kurt Korthour, 42, of Watertown and formerly of Aberdeen and Webster, died of natural causes Monday, Nov. 25, 2002.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mitchell.

Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell in charge of arrangements.

Kurt Korthour was born May 23, 1960, to Ray and Andrea (Liknes) Korthour in Aberdeen.

He attended grade school in Aberdeen and Webster.

He moved to Mitchell in 1971, and graduated from Mitchell High School in 1978.

He attended South Dakota State University.

He was employed with American Bed Company for a number of years, residing in New York, Houston and Chicago.

He moved to San Diego, Calif., and graduated from San Diego State University.

He then moved to Watertown where he was employed as auditor for the Guest House Corporation.

He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his parents of Mitchell; and two brothers, Todd Korthour of Shakopee, Minn., and Troy Korthour of Watertown.

Leslie M. Keller

Aberdeen - Leslie M. Keller, 93, of Aberdeen died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at his daughter's residence in Pierre.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Faith United Methodist Church, 503 S. Jay St. The Rev. John Baskins will officiate.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Luther O'Brien

Webster - Luther O'Brien, 94, of Webster and formerly of Waubay died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at Bethesda Home in Webster.

Arrangements are pending with Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster.

Robert Donald Lindsey

Aberdeen - The funeral for Robert Donald Lindsey, 44, of Aberdeen and formerly of Milaca, Minn., will be at 2 p.m. today at Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St. The Rev. David Bambas will officiate.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca.

Visitation will be at Miller-Huebl Funeral Home from 8 a.m. today until the time of the service.

Visitation will be at Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids, Minn., from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

He died of natural causes Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, at his residence.

Robert Donald Lindsey was born April 13, 1958, to Charles and Yvonne (Gibson) Lindsey in Minneapolis.

He grew up in Milaca and later lived in Garrison, Minn., and Owatonna, Minn.

In 1987, he moved to Aberdeen where he continued to reside until the time of his death.

He served in the U.S. Navy from Jan. 30, 1976, until the time of his honorable discharge Jan. 29, 1980.

He was a manager at Menard's.

He was an avid stock car racer and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his parents, of St. Cloud, Minn.; two sisters, Jane Grausnick of St. Cloud, and Lorrie Kelash of Rice, Minn.; and special friend, Kathy Neitzel of Aberdeen.

He was preceded in death by one sister.

Phyllis H. Walker

Lincoln, Neb. - Phyllis H. Walker, 88, of Lincoln and formerly of Mobridge, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at Village Manor Nursing Home in Lincoln.

Her memorial service was Nov. 19, at the Village Manor.

Burial of cremains will be at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery in Mobridge. Butherus, Maiser & Love Funeral Home in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.

Phyllis H. Heintz was born June 12, 1914, in Napoleon, N.D.

She grew up in Mobridge.

She married Clarence Walker in 1932.

She worked as a dietary technician at the Village Manor in Lincoln.

Survivors include one foster son, Alfred Marvin Walker of Sturgis; one brother, Louis Thares of Rapid City; and one sister, Margaret Luder of Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister and six brothers.

Memorials may be set to the Village Manor, 3220 N. 14th St., Lincoln, NE 68521.

Lois Lila Sherman

Aberdeen - Lois L. Sherman, 90, of Aberdeen died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, 1500 E. Melgaard Road.

The Rev. Harold E. Salem will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park with Spitzer-Osthus Funeral Home, 320 Sixth Ave. S.E., in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the family present from 3 to 5 p.m.

There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.

Donna M. Randel

Aberdeen - Donna M. Randel, 85, of Aberdeen died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at ManorCare Health Services.

Arrangements are pending with Schriver's Memorial Mortuary, 414 Fifth Ave. N.W.

Ruth Wickre

Veblen - The funeral for Ruth Wickre, 89, of Veblen will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Veblen.

The Rev. John Peterson will officiate.

Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery near Veblen with Frank Funeral Home of Lidgerwood, N.D., in charge of arrangements.

A prayer service will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

She died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at the Lake Andes Health Center in Lake Andes.

Ruth Stensrud was born Oct. 3, 1913, to Ole and Julia (Siverson) Stensrud near Watson, Minn.

When she was almost three years old, the family moved to a farm near Flaxton, N.D., where she spent her childhood and attended schools, graduating in 1931.

She then worked in a general store in Flaxton.

In 1934, she moved to Veblen and worked for her uncle at Sivert Siverson's General Store.

She married Leonard Wickre on June 20, 1940, in Veblen. They farmed in the Veblen area for 43 years.

He died Aug. 30, 1983, and she continued to live in Veblen.

In spring 1997 she moved to the Haisch Haus, an assisted living home in Bonesteel.

In November 1998 she moved to the Lake Andes Health Care Center, where she lived until the time of her death.

She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and a former member of Palestine Lutheran Church near Veblen.

Survivors include one son, Ralph (Judy) Wickre of Veblen; one daughter, Ona (Mark) Ebsen of Fairfax; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, three brothers and two sisters.
