Frederick P. Whiteface
RAPID CITY - Frederick P. Whiteface, 80, Rapid City, died Sunday, May 19, 2002, at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl Whiteface, Rapid City; six children, Charmaine Whiteface, Wayne Iteska, Lorraine Brave Heart, Elaine LaMere and Delaine Bloom, all of Rapid City, and Germaine Hughes, Fort Collins, Colo.; one brother, Clifford Whiteface, Rapid City; 27 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending with Kirk Funeral Home of Rapid City.
Bennie Harrison Brist
STURGIS - Bennie Harrison Brist, 92, Sturgis, died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at Fort Meade Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Sturgis.
Survivors include seven children, Mike Brist, Palmerton, Pa., Wesley Brist, Huron, Harry Brist, Rapid City, Major Brist, Elco, Nev., Colonel Brist, Sturgis, Admiral Brist, Sioux City, Iowa, and Todd Brist, Chester, Va.; 19 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
His wife, Gladys Moilan Brist, preceded him in death.
He served in the U.S. Army from December 1939 to July 1945.
A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 23, at Carlsen & Aldinger Funeral Home in Sturgis.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, May 24, at the funeral home, and for one hour before services Friday at United Methodist Church in Sturgis.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Gordon Higgins officiating.
Burial, with military honors by South Dakota Army National Guard, will follow at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis.
Clarence E. Hanson
SPEARFISH - Clarence E. Hanson, 89, Spearfish, died Monday, May 20, 2002, at David M. Dorsett Health Care Facility in Spearfish.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth Hanson, Los Angeles; two sisters, Carol Johnson, Spearfish, and Ardis Klundt, Meade, Pa.; and two grandchildren.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a Bronze Star.
Graveside services, with military honors by VFW Post No. 5860 and American Legion Post No. 164 of Spearfish, will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at Rose Hill cemetery in Spearfish, with the Rev. Gordon Higgins officiating.

Royal Yankton
PINE RIDGE - Royal Yankton, "Zuya Hoksila," 89, Pine Ridge, died Sunday, May 19, 2002, in Rapid City.
Survivors include three daughters, Revalyn Yankton and Kathy Dillon, both of Pine Ridge, and Dolores Brown, Potato Creek; one son, Rick Yankton, Pine Ridge; 18 grandchildren; and
26 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, at Wakpamni CAP Office in Pine Ridge.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at CAP, with the Rev. Ben Tyon and the Rev. Agnes Tyon officiating.
Burial will be at Holy Cross Episcopal cemetery in Pine Ridge.

Rilla M. Gilman
BELLE FOURCHE - Rilla M. Gilman, 80, Belle Fourche, died Monday, May 20, 2002, at Belle Fourche Health Care Center.
Survivors include two daughters, Audrey Karinen, Spearfish, and Mimmie Beck, Costa Mesa, Calif., and two sons, Thomas Peckham, California, and Ronald Peckham, New York.
Arrangements are pending with Fidler Funeral Chapel of Spearfish.
Francis D. Allman
LONGMONT, Colo. - Francis D. Allman, 83, Longmont, died Sunday, May 19, 2002, at Longmont United Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Allman, Longmont; four sons, Robert Allman, Los Lunas, N.M., Delbert Allman, Kadoka, S.D., Frank Allman, Albert Lea, Minn., and Larry Allman, Longmont; one daughter, Shirley Ortiz, Rapid City; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City.
Graveside services, with military honors by Sturgis Honor Guard, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 23, at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis.
Frieda L. Morris
DAVENPORT, Iowa - Frieda L. Morris, 92, Davenport and formerly of Deadwood, S.D., died Sunday, May 19, 2002, in Davenport.
Survivors include one son, Edward Morris, Elk Grove Village, Ill.; one daughter, Ellen Kenney, Davenport; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Martin Morris, preceded her in death.
Local graveside services will be held at a later date.

Frederick P. Whiteface
RAPID CITY - Frederick P. Whiteface, 80, of Rapid City, died Sunday, May 19, 2002, at his home.
Frederick was born May 9, 1922, in Martin, S.D., to Frederick Whiteface Sr. and Margaret (Clifford) Whiteface. He was one of four children born to this family.
Frederick served in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1945.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Margaret Pearl Whiteface of Rapid City; six children, Charmaine Whiteface, Wayne Iteska, Lorraine Brave Heart, Elaine LaMere and Dalaine Bloom, all of Rapid City, and Germaine Hughes of Fort Collins, Colo.; one brother, Clifford Whiteface of Rapid City; 27 grandchildren; and 37 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two grandchildren.
A Christian wake and rosary service will be at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at the Mother Butler Center in Rapid City.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, at the Mother Butler Center, with Fr. John Hatcher as celebrant. Burial will follow at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis. Full military honors will be provided by the VFW Post No. 1273 in Rapid City.

WANBLEE - Roselind Poor Bear, 49, Wanblee, died Sunday, May 19, 2002, in Wanblee.
Survivors include five daughters, Julia Swift Hawk, Emma Swift Hawk and Geraldine Swift Hawk, all of Wanblee, Stephanie Waters, Hisle, and Lucille Crane, St. Francis; six sons, Jerry Swift Hawk, Eugene Swift Hawk, Dennis Swift Hawk, Cody Poor Bear, Carl Moran and Butch Standing Bear, all of Wanblee; two sisters, LaDonna Poor Bear, Wanblee, and Juanita Bear Stops, Pierre; two brothers, Lester Poor Bear, Norris, and Lyle Poor Bear, Wanblee; and 38 grandchildren.
A two-night wake will begin at noon Wednesday, May 22, at the Roselind Poor Bear residence in Wanblee. The second night will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 23, at the Wanblee CAP Office.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 24, at Wanblee CAP, with the Rev. Daniel Makes Good officiating.
Burial will be at Gethsemane Episcopal cemetery in Wanblee.

PINE RIDGE - Delphia M. Day Boy, 60, Pine Ridge, died Sunday, May 19, 2002, in Rapid City.
Survivors include her mother, Emma Lane, Pine Ridge; three sons, Gary Mills and Jodi Lame, both of Pine Ridge, and Marty Tobacco, Rapid City; four daughters, Cindy Mills, Marla Day Boy and Natalie Lame, all of Pine Ridge, and Heidi Sitting Holy, Chadron, Neb.; two brothers, Ted Lame Sr. and Richard Broken Nose, both of Number Four Community; two sisters, Mary Jane Broken Nose, Pine Ridge, and Etheline Lame, Santa Cruz, Calif.; and 15 grandchildren.
A two-night wake will begin at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at Billy Mills Hall in Pine Ridge.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9 a.m. Friday, May 24, at Billy Mills Hall, with the Rev. Bill Pauly and Richard Broken Nose officiating.
Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis.

DENVER - Sharyn Scheinost McGeeney, 61, Denver and formerly of Custer, S.D., died Feb. 9, 2002, in Denver.
Survivors include her husband, Terry McGeeney; seven children, Kari Tracy, Tamara Christopher, Shari Bustos, Heidi Walthers, Tresa Friesen, Joe McGeeney and Ryan McGeeney; and 12 grandchildren.
Graveside services for family and friends will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 25, at Custer City cemetery.

BELLE FOURCHE — Leon Tague, 79, Belle Fourche, died Thursday, June 6, 2002, at Fort Meade Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Sturgis.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Tague, Belle Fourche; one son, Dwight Tague, Terry, Mont.; three daughters, Dana Tague, Larisa, Greece, Karen Harris, Black Hawk, and Sheila Speidel, Cedar Hill, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and three sisters, Verda Turner, Walsh, Colo., Vela Callahan, Springfield, Colo., and Virginia Eskew, Colorado Springs, Colo.
Arrangements are pending with Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche.
Russell C. Hays
BELLE FOURCHE — Russell C. Hays, 69, Belle Fourche, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Mayo Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Hays, Belle Fourche; two brothers, Robert Hays, Nampa, Idaho, and Richard Hays, Fort Meyers, Fla.; and four stepchildren, Jeri Hall, Corpus Christi, Texas, Judy Hall, Lusk, Wyo., Janet Burr, Thermopolis, Wyo., and Joyce Hall, Richland, Wash.
He served in the U.S. Navy from Jan. 9, 1952, to Oct. 24, 1964.
Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 1, at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis, with the Rev. Jeff Dilks officiating.
