Bertha Mae Judd

VANCOUVER, Wash. - Bertha Mae Judd, 81, Vancouver and formerly of South Dakota, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, in Vancouver.

Survivors include four sons, Don Judd, California, Maynard Judd, Pasco, Gary Judd, Oak Harbor, and Mark Judd, Vancouver; one daughter, Joanne Clark, Phoenix; four sisters, Nona Vig and Clara Vig, both of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, Mary Arneson, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Margery Ingalls, Sturgis, S.D.; two brothers, Carl Bowlby, Ramona, Calif., and George Bowlby, Rapid City; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Elmer Judd, preceded her in death.

Jamie M. Bad Heart Bull

HOT SPRINGS - Jamie M. Bad Heart Bull, 35, Hot Springs, died Thursday, June 6, 2002, in Silvertip, Wyo.

Survivors include his mother, Sarah Bad Heart Bull, Torrington, Wyo.; three sisters, Trina Bad Heart Bull and Apryl Bad Heart Bull, both of Torrington, and Julia Clark, San Leandro, Calif.; and one brother, Vincent E. Bad Heart Bull Jr., Pollock, La.

A one-night wake will begin at 1 p.m. today at Makasan Presbyterian Church in Oglala.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at the church.

Burial will be at Makasan Presbyterian cemetery in Oglala.

Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge is in charge of arrangements.

Eva Marie Scruggs

NEWCASTLE, Wyo. - Eva Marie Scruggs, 71, Newcastle, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at Weston County Health Services in Newcastle.

Survivors include one daughter, Dianna Dought, Los Alamos, N.M.; one sister, Virginia Wahl, Newcastle; one brother, Bob Williams, Casper; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, at Greenwood cemetery in Newcastle, with the Rev. Norm Brotzman officiating.

Worden Funeral Directors of Newcastle is in charge of arrangements.

Nancy K. Heitz Stephenson

NEWCASTLE, Wyo. - Nancy K. Heitz Stephenson, 47, Newcastle, died Saturday, June 8, 2002, at Weston County Health Services in Newcastle.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Stephenson, Newcastle; two daughters, Kendra and Courtney, Newcastle; her mother, Dorothea Kenagy, Worland; three sisters, Becky, Upton, Norma Youel, Casper, and Jill Guy, Temple, Texas; and one brother, Floyd Heitz, Rock Springs.

Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at Worden Chapel in Newcastle.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 13, at First United Methodist Church in Newcastle, with the Rev. Robert Firebaugh officiating.

Burial will be at Greenwood cemetery in Newcastle.

Memorials for her children's education may be sent care of First State Bank in Newcastle.

Faith L. Fisher

RAPID CITY - Faith L. Fisher, 79, Rapid City, died at the Rapid City Regional Hospital Sunday, June 9, 2002.

She was born on April 7, 1923, at Houghton, S.D., the daughter of Rev. John F. and Lovenah Simpson. Faith graduated from high school at Mitchell, S.D., in 1941 and from Marion College, Marion, Indiana, in 1945.

Faith married Charles Fisher on August 30, 1945, at Ipswich, S.D. The family resided in Rapid City for a number of years, and while in Rapid City she was employed as a Supervisor in the

Medical Records Dept. at Bennett-Clarkson Hospital. She moved to California in 1974 and resided in the Los Angeles area until returning to Rapid City in 2000.

Survivors include two sons, Paul Fisher, Steamboat Springs, Colo., and George Fisher, Ashland, Kentucky; three brothers, Walter Simpson, Lawrence, Kansas, Franklin Simpson, Rapid City, and Dr. David Simpson, Birmingham, Alabama; a sister, Voreta Garman, Rapid City; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Rev. Darrell Wagner and Rev. Wesley Smith officiating.

Interment will be at the Mountain View cemetery.

Wilma M. Nowell

CUSTER - Wilma M. Nowell, 86, of Custer, S.D., passed away June 7, 2002, at her residence.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Custer.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2002, at Custer Community Church in Custer, with Rev. Keith Ballinger officiating.

She was born December 29, 1915, to Willard and Minnie Walsh at Redfield, S.D. She graduated from Redfield High School and was united in marriage to George Nowell on June 3, 1939. They farmed at Tulare until 1960, when they moved to Custer, S.D.

Wilma worked as a cook in the cafeteria of Custer Public Schools as well as Custer State Hospital for the handicapped. After retiring she worked summers at Flintstone Village in the post office, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was a great fan of the Mountain Music Show and usually attended 50 or more performances during the summer. The people in the show were her extended family. Her pride and joy was the flower garden she planted each year at her apartment building.

Wilma was a member of the Custer Community Church, Mary Martha Circle, Custer Hospital Auxiliary, Custer Historical Society, Custer Senior Citizens Center, and a past board member of the Senior Transportation.

Survivors include her son, Norman and his wife Sandy Nowell of Capistano Beach, Calif.; two daughters, Nancy and Bryant Girdler of Boca Raton, Fla., and Naomi and Duane Whalen of Rapid City, S.D.; one sister, Elaine Oberlander of Garden City, Kan.; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband George; and one brother, Marvin.

A memorial has been established in Wilma's memory to benefit the Senior Transportation, Custer Historical Society and the Custer Community Church.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Custer.

James Kevin Herren

SPEARFISH - James Kevin Herren, 47, Spearfish, died Saturday, June 8, 2002, at his home.

Survivors include one son, Alfred Herren, Tyndall; one daughter, Sabrina Herren, Fort Pierre; his mother, Lillian Herren, Spearfish; two brothers, Mike, Spearfish, and Merle, Dupree; one sister, Sonja Herren-Clark, Beulah, Wyo.; and three grandchildren.

Following his request, the body was cremated.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 13, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, with the Rev. Sam Owen officiating.

John E. Nelson

STURGIS - John E. Nelson, 85, Sturgis and formerly of the rural Alkali community, died at Rapid City Regional Hospital on Friday, June 7, 2002.

Visitation will be at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel on Tuesday from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. and one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, with Rev. Frank McKeehan officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Butte cemetery.

John was born on Alkali Divide 26 miles east of Sturgis on January 2, 1917, to Edward and Anna (Johnson) Nelson. He attended rural school on Alkali. He was married to Mary A. Guegel at Sturgis. S.D., on September 8, 1951. He ranched and farmed at the home place until he moved to Sturgis.

John was a member of the United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the American Hereford Association. He could always be engaged in conversation about ranching; farming; the weather; baseball, especially the Colorado Rockies; and Denver Broncos football.

Survivors include his son and his wife, Edward J. and Gina M. Nelson of Rapid City; two sisters, Ethel Reichert of Sturgis and Edna Mills of Deadwood; one brother and his wife, Fred and Henrietta Nelson of Sturgis; five grandchildren, Brittany and Andrea Nelson of Rapid City and Jeffry, Jonathan and Andrew McNew Jr. of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and one son-in-law, Andy McNew of Cheyenne.

His wife, Mary; his daughter, Linda M. (Nelson) McNew; and two sisters, Leona Svendsen and Florence Cordes, preceded him in death.

Memorials have been established to the United Methodist Church Building Fund and to the Meade County Senior Citizens Center.

Lucille Mullaney Olsen

RAPID CITY - Lucille Mullaney Olsen, 87, of Rapid City, died peacefully in the loving presence of her family Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Lucille was born on May 10, 1915, in Aurora, SD, to Patrick and Beatrice (Hackett) Mullaney. She attended Sioux Falls College for 2-1/2 years and was a graduate of Black Hills State University. She taught 5th grade in the Rapid City School District for 22 years until retiring. Lucille was active in sorority and teacher member groups, Canyon Lake and Minneluzahan Senior Centers.

Lucille enjoyed working with ceramics, attending functions at the senior centers, playing bridge and card games, traveling and visiting family and friends.

She is survived by three daughters, Joanne Gjere and husband Robert of NE, Camille Smith and husband Duane of AZ, and Pamela Lucashu and husband John of CT; one son, Mark Olsen and wife Mary of ID; one sister, Genevive Nicksic and husband John of AZ; nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne in 1997; her parents; and three sisters, Yvonne, Loretta and Vivian.

Mom deeply touched the lives of family and friends. In her passing she will be remembered by all who loved her. We are so blessed to have been so loved.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2002, at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City, with a vigil service at 7 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 14, at Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Cathedral in Our Lady's Chapel, Rapid City, with Fr. Timothy Castor as celebrant.

Burial will follow at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis.

A memorial has been established for St. Martin's Convent.

William Larry Lee

RAPID CITY - William Larry Lee, 59, died June 10th at his home from heart failure.

Survivors include his parents, his children, his grandchildren and his fiancee. As a chiropractor, he touched the hearts and lives of many. Friends were a very special part of his personal life and practice.

A memorial service at Osheim-Catron Funeral Home will be at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 14th, with a luncheon at the Al-Anon Club immediately following. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.

Marvin C. Peters

OMAHA, Neb. - Marvin C. Peters, 88, Omaha and formerly of Rapid City, died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at his home.

Survivors include three sons, Marvin Peters and Corey Peters, both of Rapid City, and Kenneth Peters, Winnemucca, Nev., and three daughters, Barbara Anderson, Rapid City, Mary Kirk, Omaha, and Beverly Cook, Las Vegas.

Arrangements are pending with Osheim-Catron Funeral Home of Rapid City.

Cheryl Lee 'Sherry' Hendrickson-Horne

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - Cheryl Lee "Sherry" Hendrickson-Horne, 52, Coeur d'Alene and formerly of Rapid City, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Wash.

Survivors include her husband, Roger Horne, Coeur d'Alene; one son, Nicholas Riehle, Post Falls; one daughter, Amanda Hendrickson, Coeur d'Alene; four brothers, Allen Hendrickson, Kennewick, Wash., Robert Hendrickson, Gillette, Wyo., Michael Hendrickson, Burbank, Wash., and Gary Hendrickson, Pasco, Wash.; two sisters, Peggy Armstrong, Ballwin, Mo., and Crystal Long, Tyrone, Pa.; and one granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 14, at Prairie Avenue Christian Center in Coeur d'Alene.

Burial will follow at Riverview cemetery.
