Ilo W. Kendall Nelson

RAPID CITY - Ilo Nelson, 92, passed away at her home on July 22, 2002.

Ilo was born July 18, 1910, in Milo, Iowa, to Chester D. and Goldie "Pearson" Kendall. She graduated from Forestberg High School in 1928. July 19, 1934, she married E.N. "Curley" Nelson in Belle Fourche, SD. They moved to Rapid City in 1938, where she has lived since.

Survivors include her son, Charles J. Nelson of Pierre, SD, and his wife Ginger, grandchildren, Todd Nelson of Mitchell, SD, Terry Nelson and his wife Angie and great-grandchildren Chase, Seth and Jhetta of Pierre, SD. Daughter Margaret "Margee" Hussey of Rapid City, grandchildren, Melody Hussey and Lana Hussey of Rapid City, SD, Blaine Hussey and wife Christina of Las Vegas, NV, and son Ronald D. Nelson and wife Kay of Lake Havasu, AZ, one brother Loyd Kendall and wife Louise and family of Omaha, NE.

Ilo was a Charter Life Member and 5-year Secretary of the Benevolent Patriotic Order of Does Drove # 33 in Rapid City, President of Rapid City Girl Scout Council from 1955 to 1957 and a member of First Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband "Curley" Nelson, her parents, sister Louise Swan and brother James Kendall.

A memorial has been established for the Children's Diabetic Compensation.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2002 at Kirk Chapel of Light in Rapid City from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the family present.

Friends and family will gather at Kirk Funeral Home by 10:15 a.m. on Friday for the procession to the cemetery. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 26, 2002, at Mountain View cemetery, with Rev. Brent Woodard officiating.

Clarence W. Whitlock Sr.

WINCHESTER, Va. - Clarence W. Whitlock Sr., 70, Winchester and formerly of Rapid City, died Friday, July 12, 2002, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Whitlock, Winchester; two sons, Clarence Whitlock Jr., Burlington, N.C., and William Whitlock, Rapid City; one daughter, Mary Ann Beaird, Rapid City; three grandchildren; and one brother, Joseph Whitlock, Front Royal.

Services were Tuesday, July 16, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, in Winchester.

Burial was at Cedarwood cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA 22601.

Mary Lorraine Midgard

RAPID CITY - Mary Midgard, 79, Rapid City, died Thursday, July 4, 2002.

Survivors include one brother, Gayland Trudeau, Woonsocket; two daughters, Jeanette Dickston, Portland, Ore., and Judy House, Rapid City; and three grandsons.

Her husband, Edward Midgard, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 26, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cathedral in Rapid City.

Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis.

Behrens Mortuary of Rapid City is in charge of arrangements.

Nancy Lee Jones

UPTON, Wyo. - Nancy Lee Jones, 69, Upton, died Monday, July 22, 2002, at her home.

Survivors include three daughters, Becky Cummings and Kelly Alexander, both of Upton, and LaDonna Hatch, Gillette; three sons, Carey Jo Hodson, Gillette, Jerry Jones, Upton, and Jim Jones, Portsmouth, Va.; one brother, Scotty Carey, Gillette; one sister, Helen Dodge, Phoenix; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Donald Jones, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 25, at Upton Community Hall, with the Rev. Rick Clair officiating.

Kenneth W. Sorenson

RAPID CITY - Kenneth W. Sorenson, 72, Rapid City, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Sorenson, Rapid City; two sons, Bradley Sorenson, Greeley, Colo., and Kenton Sorenson, Fallon, Mo.; one daughter, Julene Pike, Sioux Falls; two brothers, Melvin Sorenson, Bella Vista, Ark., and Arthur Sorenson, Madison; four sisters, Ruth Lauer, Fremont, Neb., Velma Wagner, Alexandria, Shirley Barker, Madison, and Carolen Weeks, Memphis, Tenn.; and eight grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending with Osheim-Catron Funeral Home of Rapid City.

Stanley W. Wright

WELLINGTON, Kan. - Stanley W. Wright, 70, Wellington and formerly of Rapid City, died Thursday, July 25, 2002.

Survivors include his wife, Kaye Wright, Wellington; one brother, Jerry Wright, Shawnee; and two sisters, Betty Jo Erber and Caroline Calvert-Cox, both of Wellington.

He served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean conflict.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Frank Funeral Home in Wellington.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 27, at the funeral home.

Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Camp Russell cemetery in Guthrie, Okla.

A memorial fund has been established with Rapid City Regional Hospital's Cancer Care Institute; donations may be sent in care of Jeri Sandbach, 2135 Lake Park Drive, Longmont, Colo., 80501.

Leo Frank Shinost

STURGIS - Leo Frank Shinost, 87, Sturgis, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at Sturgis Long Term Care Center.

Survivors include six sons, Larry Shinost, Las Vegas, Frankie Shinost and Chuck Shinost, both of Sturgis, Mark Shinost, Torrington, Wyo., and Mike Shinost and Dan Shinost, both of Newell; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

His wife, Mildred Shinost, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday, July 28, and from 8 a.m. until service time Monday, July 29, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Harold Delbridge officiating.

Burial will follow at Bear Butte cemetery.

A memorial has been established.

Catherine Fischer 'Cathy' Gloe

PIERRE - Catherine Fischer "Cathy" Gloe, 44, Pierre, died Wednesday,

July 24, 2002, at her home.

Survivors include her husband, Monty Gloe, Pierre; two sons, Willie and Ben, both of Pierre; two daughters, Sarah and Susie, both of Pierre; her mother, Jean Fischer, Sioux Falls; and three brothers, the Rev. John Fischer, Yankton, Mike Fischer, Atlanta, and Chuck Fischer, Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 28, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Isburg-Hofmeister Funeral Chapel in Pierre.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 29, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pierre.

Burial will be at Calvary cemetery in Pierre.

Myrna L. Abel

MIDLAND - Myrna L. Abel, 81, Midland, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Survivors include two daughters, Miriam Schilling, Midland, and Kay Payne, Philip; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and one sister, Rita Bechard, Presho.

Her husband, Wilmer Abel, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at Rush Funeral Home in Philip and for one hour before services Monday, July 29, at Open Bible Church in Midland.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Dan Carlson officiating.

Burial will be at Midland cemetery.

Irma Harter

HOT SPRINGS - Irma Harter, 91, Hot Springs, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Castle Manor Nursing Home in Hot Springs.

Survivors include one son, Ed Harter, Hot Springs; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Arrangements are pending with McColley's Chapels of the Hills in Hot Springs.

John G. Finn

HUDSON, Wis. — John Gerald Michael Finn, 53, of Hudson, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, July 17, at United Hospital in St. Paul.

He was born in Minneapolis, May 22, 1949, the son of James H. and Marion A. (Reinhardt) Finn. He went to elementary school in Brookings, S.D., and graduated from Brookings High School in 1967.

Furthering his education, he attended Marquette University in Milwaukee and St. John's College in Collegeville, Minn., where he received his degree in philosophy, theology and psychology. His Master's degree in guidance and counseling was earned at South Dakota State University at Brookings.

On July 2, 1983, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Rapid City, S.D., he was married to Mary Langenfeld.

The couple lived in Brookings before moving to Hudson in 1983.

While in Brookings, he owned and operated Sound Station Seven, a music and record shop.

In Hudson, he was employed from 1982 to 2002 in sales management for McGraw-Hill Publishing.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; a daughter, Maggie; his parents, James and Marion Finn of Brookings; two brothers, Jim Finn of Milwaukee and Dan (Lynne) Finn of Brookings; two sisters, Mary (Jack) Perroni of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Patti (Hal) Knecht of White Bear Lake, Minn.

Other survivors include, his father-in-law, John Langenfeld of Rapid City, S.D.; sister/brother-in-laws, Theresa (Dominic) Ruscio of Denver, Colo., Catherine (Jeff) Perry of Huron, S.D., John (Elaine) Langenfeld of New Brunswick, N.J., Gretchen (Andre) Clayborne of Sioux Falls, S.D., Fran (Dave) Henderson of Rapid City, S.D., Ann (Jon) Kellar of Rapid City, S.D., and Jennifer (Michael) Lande of Skokie, Ill.

Preceding him in death were an infant brother, Leo, and his mother-in-law, Margaret "Peggy" Langenfeld.

Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 20 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hudson with Father George Kolath and Father James Dabruzzi con-celebrating.

Burial was in St. Patrick's Catholic cemetery where casketbearers were Dan Finn, Jim Finn, Jack Peronni, Hal Knecht, Craig Hegdahl, Teresa Lyons-Hegdahl, Chris Denton and Carolyn Denton.

Visitation was from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, July 19, at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson.

Memorials are preferred.
