RAPID CITY — Christian N. Lee, 89, Rapid City, died Sunday, July 28, 2002, at a Rapid City nursing home.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta Lee, Rapid City; three sons, Richard Lee, Sundance, Wyo., Rodney Lee, Rapid City, and Gerald Lee, Hill City; one daughter, Patricia Whittecar, Rapid City; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending with Osheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City.

Guy E. Van Nice

RAPID CITY — Guy E. Van Nice, 93, Rapid City, died Sunday, July 28, 2002, at a Rapid City nursing home.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Van Nice, Rapid City; one son, Robert Van Nice, North Canton, Ohio; and three daughters, Beverly Ham, Minneapolis, Minn., Carol Dobbs, Farmington, Conn., and Nancy Holtet, Alexandria, Va.

Arrangements are pending with Osheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City.

Gilbert Arthur Zastrow

STURGIS — Gilbert Arthur Zastrow, 78, Sturgis, died Sunday, July 28, 2002, at Fort Meade Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Arrangements are pending with Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Robert L. Wilson

RAPID CITY — Robert L. Wilson, 35, Rapid City, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Survivors include four children, Linda Wilson and Jolene

Wilson, both of Seattle, Wash., Myra Wilson and Cameron

Peterson, both of Rapid City; his father, Lawrence Wilson, Crow Agency, Mont.; two brothers, Benjamin Milbrandt and Lawrence Wilson Jr., both of Rapid City; and one sister, Cindy Rosales, Rapid City.

Arrangements are pending with Osheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City.

Marvin Kluksdahl

BILLINGS, Mont. — Marvin Kluksdahl, 78, Billings, died May 27, 2002, in Billings.

Survivors include one sister, Amy Kluksdahl, Florida, and one brother, Gordon Kluksdahl, Powell, Wyo.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945.

Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will be at a later date at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis, S.D.

Memorials may be made to Al Bedoo Shriners Temple, P.O. Box 20673, Billings, MT 59104.

Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary and Crematory of Billings is in charge of arrangements.

Emery C. Arapahoe Sr.

PINE RIDGE — Emery C. Arapahoe Sr., 59, Pine Ridge, died Sunday, July 28, 2002, in Pine Ridge.

Survivors include three sons, Emery Arapahoe Jr., Colorado, David Arapahoe, Sioux Falls, and John Eder, Eagle Butte; four stepsons, Joe Hoof, Duluth, Minn., and Carlos Hoof, Tony Weston and Brian Jefferies, all of Pine Ridge; two daughters, Darlene Elk, Porcupine, and Adelyn Arapahoe, Pine Ridge; one stepdaughter, Mary Hoof, Rapid City; and numerous grandchildren.

A two-night wake will begin at 3 p.m. today at the Wakpamni CAP Building in Pine Ridge. The second night will begin at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at Jo Ann Sierra's home in Pine Ridge.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at Jo Ann Sierra's home, with the Rev. Emerson Spider Sr. officiating.

Burial will be at St. John's cemetery in Allen.

Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Lynn Carr

ROWLETT, Texas — Mary Lynn Carr, 38, Rowlett and formerly of Deadwood, S.D., died Tuesday, July 30, 2002.

Survivors include her husband, Nino Parco, Rowlett; three children, Blake Chimenti, Alyssa Parco and Jillian Parco, all of Rowlett; her parents, Katherine Faust, Cathedral City, Calif., and Joe Carr, Rapid City; and one sister, Machelle Rae, Cameron Park, Calif.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at Rest Haven

Funeral Home — Rowlett Chapel.

Esther F. Turgeon

RAPID CITY - Esther F. Turgeon, 83, Rapid City, died at a Rapid City nursing home Tuesday, July 30, 2002.

She was born on Sept. 8, 1918, at Gothenburg, Neb., the daughter of Hershel and Ella (Cheever) Jones. She was one of twelve children. She grew up at North Platte, Neb. Esther married George E. "Bill" Turgeon on Nov. 14, 1957, at Reno, Nevada.

Following their marriage they owned and operated the HalfWay House near Deadwood, and in 1963 they opened Turgeon's Supper Club in Central City. In 1971 they purchased the Canyon Lake Club in Rapid City and operated it until retirement in 1976. Esther had lived in Rapid City since.

Survivors include two brothers, William Jones, Lakewood, Colo., and Melvin Jones, Pioneer, Calif.; three sisters, Viola Lundgren, Turlock, Calif., Mabel Milam, Canon City, Colo., and Alice McArthur, Salinas, Calif.; and a stepdaughter, Penny Turgeon Doughty, Deerfield, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, on

May 12, 2000, two brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home, with Rev. William C. Hibbert officiating. Interment will be at the Black Hills National cemetery.

Elsie A. Grill

RAPID CITY - Elsie A. Grill, 82, Rapid City, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at a local nursing home.

Survivors include one son, William Landers, Rapid City, and one sister, Edith Chase, Rapid City.

Arrangements are pending with Kirk Funeral Home of Rapid City.

Iva Levy Boyer

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Iva Levy Boyer, 95, Kennewick, died July 7, 2002, in Kennewick.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at Scenic cemetery. Lunch will follow at Scenic School House.

Gerald A. Ellis

NEW RIVER, Ariz. - Gerald A. Ellis, 65, New River, died Monday, July 29, 2002, at Custer Community Hospital in Custer, S.D.

Survivors include one son, Mike Ellis, Glendale; one daughter, Donna Deaton, New River; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at a later date in Arizona.

McColley's Chapels of the Hills in Custer is in charge of arrangements.

Albert Hartog

PIERRE - Albert Hartog, 73, Pierre, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Iona Hartog, Pierre; three sons, Larry Hartog, Georgetown, Ind., Lyle Hartog, Albany, N.Y., and Curtis Hartog, Eagan, Minn.; one daughter, Mary Herrmann, Tacoma, Wash.; three brothers, George Hartog, Marvin Hoffenkamp and Ed Hartog; two sisters, Susie McMartin and Gladys Siefkes; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Isburg-Hofmeister Funeral Chapel in Pierre.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at the funeral chapel.

Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. MDT Monday, Aug. 5, at Black Hills National cemetery near Sturgis.

Memorials may be made to Countryside Hospice, 800 E. Dakota, Pierre, SD 57501.

Donald Barnhart

MITCHELL - Donald Barnhart, 67, Mitchell, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002. He served as the state superintendent of schools from 1971-1975 and as White River school superintendent for

several years.

Survivors include his wife, Anne Barnhart, Mitchell; six daughters, Vicki Stroup and Leigh Krogman, both of White River, Kim Garrett, Spearfish, Kathy Hyde and Kristy Yackley, both of Onida, and Kelli Barnhart, Mitchell; two sisters, Jan Giese, Chamberlain, and Judy Kenton, Mitchell; 22 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, with a 7 p.m. Scripture reading, at Will Funeral Chapel in Mitchell.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell.

Burial will be at Calvary cemetery in Mitchell.

Irene Williams

RAPID CITY - Irene Williams, 82, Rapid City, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at her home.

She was born on June 14, 1920, to Jacob and Emilie Oster in Selby. She was raised in Walworth and Perkins area. They moved to Spearfish in 1933; she graduated from Spearfish High School in 1938.

She married Frank B. Williams on June 15, 1938, in Sturgis, SD. They moved to Rapid City in 1946.

Through her life she worked in various places: Fabric Center, Budget Shop, Minneluzahan Senior Center, Grandma made it, and

17 years at Willy's Saw Shop, where she worked until three weeks before her death.

She enjoyed many hobbies, such as gardening, chopping wood, quilting and sewing, carpentry, yard sales, antiquing, and collecting spoons.

She was a wonderful mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her children: Bonnie Williams, Linda Williams, Douglas Williams and JoAnn Ponder, all of Rapid City, SD, and Nancy Heltsley of Fort Collins, CO; one sister, Maybelle Beranek of Rapid City, SD; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Jessie Williams of Spearfish, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

Memorial services will be Saturday, August 3, 2002, at 10 a.m. at Behrens Mortuary Chapel, with Reverend Bruce Baum officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials to Hospice of the Hills.

Behrens Mortuary is in care of arrangements.
