RAPID CITY — Martha Munsch, 87, Rapid City, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at a Rapid City nursing home.

Survivors include two sons, Sam Munsch, Rapid City, and Alvin Munsch, Yankton; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending with Osheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City.

Jeanette McDermand

WACONIA, Minn. — Jeanette McDermand, 62, Waconia and a former Hermosa, S.D., resident, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.

Survivors include two sons, Quint McDermand, Belle Plaine, and Marty McDermand, Coon Rapids; two daughters, Becky Keller, Queen Creek, Ariz., and Vicki McDermand, Chaska; one brother, Larry Smith, Rapid City; one sister, Joanne Shorb, Hermosa, S.D.; and 11 grandchildren.

Arrangments are pending with Osheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City.

Frances Annette Conlon LaFlam

TUCSON, Ariz. — Frances Annette Conlon LaFlam, 55, Tucson, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, in Tucson.

Survivors include her husband, Ron; one son, Jack Jr.; two daughters, Rhonda Dunson and Rachelle Wolff; her mother, Dorothy Rasmussen; two sisters, Corinne Webster and Barbara Brinkman; one brother, Jim Conlon; and four grand-children.

Services were held Aug. 8 at East Lawn Palms Mortuary Chapel in Tucson.

Deacon Charles ‘Charlie' Moose

PORCUPINE — Services for Deacon Charles "Charlie" Moose will be at 2 p.m. today at Messiah Episcopal Church in Wounded Knee, with burial at Messiah Episcopal cemetery in Wounded Knee.

Keith Louder

RAPID CITY — Keith Louder, 91, of Rapid City, formerly of Draper, died August 14, 2002, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

He was born November 7, 1910, to Lyle and Almedia (Haskins) Louder at the family home north of Draper. He attended the Prairie Home School and Draper High School until the death of his father forced him to drop out to help on the family farm.

On May 21, 1933, he married Margaret Macy. They lived on a farm west of Draper until 1945, when the family moved into town. Keith continued to farm and ranch until his retirement.

The Draper community was an important part of his life, as evidenced by his service on the Draper Town Board, the Draper Volunteer Fire Dept. and as the Jones County Deputy Sheriff. He was instrumental in planning and actively participated in the construction of the Draper Auditorium, which is still the center of community activities today. He was well known for sharing the abundance of his vegetable and flower gardens.

In 1999, health forced the Louders to move to Rapid City to be near their daughter.

Keith is survived by his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Margaret Ellen Ruoff (Herbert), Centennial, CO, and Beverly Drabek (Robert), Rapid City; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Louder (Lois), Pierre, and a sister, Maxine Curtis (Marvin), Rapid City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers, 2 sisters and one grandson.

Services will be Tuesday, August 20, 2002, 2 p.m. Central Time at the Draper Methodist Church. Viewing one hour prior to service. Interment at the Draper cemetery immediately following the service.

Memorials may be made to Draper Methodist Church, Draper, SD 57531.

Behrens Mortuary, Rapid City, SD, is in care of arrangements.

Helen E. Solem

PIERRE — Helen E. Solem, 78, Pierre, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre.

Survivors include three sons, Donald Stevens, Robert Stevens and Lavern Stevens; one daughter, Roberta Robinson; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Kristi Solem and Susan Anderson; and three stepgrandchildren.

Her husband, Harold Solem, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Isburg-Hofmeister Funeral Chapel in Pierre.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel.

Burial will follow at Riverside cemetery in Pierre.

Richard Sachau

SPEARFISH — Richard Sachau, 84, Spearfish, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, at Lookout Memorial Hospital in Spearfish.

Visitation will be for one hour before services, which will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Carlsen & Aldinger Funeral Home in Spearfish, with the Rev. Mel Miller officiating.

Grace B. Bennett

RAPID CITY — Grace B. Bennett, 100, Rapid City, died Wednesday, August 14, 2002, at Morningstar Assisted Living.

She was born September 3, 1901, at Winamac, Indiana, to Frederic and Margaretta (Aufdenkampe) Brinker.

She was educated in local schools in Winamac, and she graduated from a teachers college in Indianapolis, where she specialized in kindergarten and primary teaching. Additional college work was taken at the University of Minnesota, Sioux Falls College and the University of Colorado. She taught in the South Dakota communities of Agar and Highmore before coming to Rapid City in 1935, where she was a first grade teacher at the Woodrow Wilson Elementary School.

She was married to Charles L. Bennett, a native of Rapid City and son of George Bennett, a long-time businessman of Rapid City, on June 16, 1936, and they continued to make Rapid City their home. His death occurred in 1990.

She is survived by a number of nephews and nieces who live in different parts of the country; and special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Childs and Dalaima Salamun.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be Monday, August 19, 2002, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Behrens Mortuary.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 20, 2002, at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, with The Reverend William Hibbert and The Reverend Deacon Virginia Bird. Burial will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park.

Memorials may be given to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church or the NAJA Temple Hospital Travel Fund.

Behrens Mortuary, Rapid City, is in care of arrangements.

Norbert Patton Jr.

RAPID CITY — Norbert Patton Jr., 51, Rapid City, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Survivors include one daughter, Angel Patton, Denver; three sons, Robert Patton, Pine Ridge, and Kyle Patton and Colton Patton, both of Mission; four sisters, Elaine Hairston, Jeanne Janis, Darlene Dewitt and Glenda Hill, all of Rapid City; four brothers, William McLane, Eagle Butte, Ron Grage, Cody, Wyo., Dean Patton, Box Elder, and Michael Grage, Mission; and eight grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending with Kirk Funeral Home of Rapid City.

Gloria J. Bossert

RAPID CITY — Gloria J. Bossert, 53, Rapid City, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, at a local nursing home.

Survivors include her husband, Randy Bossert, Rapid City.

Arrangements are pending with Osheim-Catron Funeral Home of Rapid City.

Darnell Bissonette

PINE RIDGE - Darnell Bissonette, 46, Pine Ridge, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Survivors include his father, Melvin Bissonette, Pine Ridge; five brothers, Albert Whiting Jr., Minneapolis, Douglas Bissonette, Darwin Bissonette and Antoine Bissonette, all of Pine Ridge, and Duane Bissonette, New Mexico; and one sister, Carmen Whiting, Pine Ridge.

A two-night wake will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 28, at Billy Mills Hall in Pine Ridge.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, at Billy Mills Hall, with the Rev. Ben Tyon and the Rev. Abraham Tobacco officiating.

Burial will be at Holy Cross Episcopal cemetery in Pine Ridge.

Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy B. Red Paint

PINE RIDGE - Dorothy B. Red Paint, 76, Pine Ridge, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Survivors include two daughters, Sarah Brown Eyes and Yolanda Red Paint, both of Pine Ridge; one brother, James Yellow Horse, Oglala; and five sisters, Irene Pipe On Head, Rapid City, Darlene Kills Enemy, Slim Buttes, and Geraldine Yellow Horse, Josephine Afraid Of Bear and Phyllis One Feather, all of Oglala.

A two-night wake will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, July 29, at Slim Buttes Community Building.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, at Slim Buttes Community Building, with the Rev. Steve Pugliese officiating.

Burial will be at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic cemetery in Slim Buttes.

Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge is in charge of arrangements.

Gary Wentz

GARY WENTZ passed away Saturday, July 20, 2002 at his home in Tucson, AZ. He is survived by his wife, Mary, daughters Linda and Julie, son Scott, grandchildren Trent, Jory, Jordin, Trevor and Tyler, brothers Lee, Ken, and Bob, sister Lyllis and a host of friends and relatives.

Services will be held at Our Lady of the Black Hills Catholic Church in Piedmont, SD on Friday, August 2, 2002 at 1 p.m., and he will be interred in the Black Hills National cemetery at 3 p.m. the same day.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in the family's name - 37336 South Desert Star Drive, Tucson, AZ 85739.

Irma Harter

HOT SPRINGS - Irma Harter, 91, Hot Springs, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Castle Manor Nursing Home in Hot Springs.

Survivors include one son, Ed Harter, Hot Springs; six grandchildren; 15 grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at McColley's Chapels of the Hills in Hot Springs.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 29, at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Dan Barcus officiating.

Lenora 'Jane' Karsten

STURGIS - Lenora "Jane" Karsten, 76, Sturgis, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Sturgis Community Long Term Care Center.

Arrangements are pending with Kinkade Funeral Chapel of Sturgis.
