Leo F. Lane

Leo F. Lane, age 87, of Yankton, South Dakota, died Sunday, February 8, 2009 at Avera Yankton Care Center in Yankton.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 AM, on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Reverend Bob Lacey officiating. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart cemetery in Yankton with military honors provided by the Ernest-Bowyer VFW Post No. 791. Visitation is from 3:00 to 8:00 PM, on Wednesday, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with a rosary at 7:00 PM followed by a Scripture Service at 7:30 PM.

Florence E. Lyngstad

Florence E. Lyngstad, age 100, of Yankton, South Dakota, died Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, on Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at Calvary Baptist Church in Yankton with Reverend Terry Port officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories cemetery in Yankton. Visitation is from 3:00 to 8:00 PM, on Monday, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with a prayer service and video tribute at 7:00 PM.
Pallbearers will be Dan Lyngstad, Larry Lyngstad, Bob Lyngstad, Tim Lyngstad, James Haas, and Thad Larson.
Florence was born on January 1, 1908, to Alfred and Caroline (Hjirreld) Nelson in rural Viborg, South Dakota. She grew up and attended school in rural Irene. She married George Lyngstad on July 21, 1926 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. After their marriage they lived in rural Wakonda for three years where they worked on a farm until they moved to rural Irene. They moved from rural Irene in 1943 when they purchased the family farm, in rural Volin, where she resided until moving to Avera Sister James Care Center on December 1, 2006.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a very Christian person and enjoyed cooking and baking sugar cookies for her family, crocheting, reading, and especially spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son, Roger (Dorothy) Lyngstad of Volin, South Dakota; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 26 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; son, Wesley Lyngstad; daughter, Kathleen Lyngstad; sister, Verna Lein; brother, Donald Nelson; a brother in infancy; two grandchildren, Penny Lyngstad and George Paulin; and two great grandchildren, Kelli Jo Paulin and Madison Hackett.

Theodore Bosselman

Theodore Bosselman, age 90, of Utica, South Dakota, died Friday, December 19, 2008, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota.
No local services are planned. Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.

Eulalia Leesch

A mass of Christian burial for Eulalia Leesch, 95, Redfield, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2006, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Redfield, with Father William Osborn officiating. Burial will be in St. Bernard’s cemetery, Redfield.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2006, with a rosary at 7 p.m. at the Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield, which is in charge of arrangements.

Glenn C. Iverson

Services for Glenn C. Iverson, 89, Rapid City, were held Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at South Maple United Methodist Church, Rapid City, with Pastor Tom Haggar officiating. Burial was in the Black Hills National cemetery. The Kirk Funeral Home, Rapid City, was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Iverson died Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at a local nursing home.
He was born Sept. 27, 1915, in Hettinger, N.D., to Iver and Anna (Voxland) Iverson. He grew up and attended country school at Doland. He served in the CCC program in the Custer area. He joined the United States Navy and served from 1941 to 1945 aboard the USS Phoenix in the Philippine Islands Theater.
He married Doris E. Deming Sept. 8, 1945, in Redfield and they became parents of two sons, James and Tommy.
He worked for the Homestake Mine in Lead for 10 years. They relocated to Rapid City in 1955 and he worked as a planning technician in Civil Service at Ellsworth Air Force Base for 30 years, retiring in 1981.
He “loved reading, television, helping others with projects and enjoying his good health. He also loved camping in the Black Hills.”
He was a member of South Maple United Methodist Church and the VFW.
Survivors include one son: Tom (Beth) Iverson, Rapid City; four grandchildren: Pam, Nancy, Nick and Steve; three great-grandchildren; and four nephews and five nieces.
He was preceded in death by his wife (October 2004), his son, James, and daughter-in-law, Julie, his parents and four brothers.

Louise M. Lydic
(February 11, 1930 - November 18, 2012)

Louise M. Lydic, 82, of Chester, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2012, at the Dells Nursing and Rehab Center in Dell Rapids. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at St. Peters Lutheran Church, Wentworth, SD. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill cemetery, rural Chester. Visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, with the family present at 5:00 P.M., and a prayer service beginning at 7:00 P.M., at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Dell Rapids.
Louise Marie Lydic was born on February 11, 1930, to Selmer and Eleanora (Nelson) Granum in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was baptized on December 3, 1939.
After graduating from Washington High School in 1948, she worked at Morrell’s until her marriage to William (Bill) Lydic on September 7, 1951. They farmed near Crooks, SD, and then moved to a farm near Chester, SD, in 1955. After their retirement they moved into Chester and Louise worked at the library and was a member of Senior Citizens. They later moved to Orchard Hills in Dell Rapids, SD, where she lived until she became a resident of Dells Nursing and Rehab Center in October of 2012.
Louise had been a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chester where she had taught Sunday School and was a member of LWML and Altar Guild. After the church closed in Chester, she became a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Wentworth, SD.
Louise is survived by her children, Luanna (Llyn) Shuck, Colton, SD, Nancy (Darrel) Presuhn, Madison, SD, and Ken (Dawn) Lydic, Chester, SD. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, her sister Lavonne Dafoe, Sioux Falls, SD, sisters-in-law Marilyn Granum, Sioux Falls, SD, Mary (Randy) Newcomer, Mitchell, SD, and Patricia (George) Skelton, Casa Grande, AZ, and brothers-in-law George (Violet) Lydic, Denver, CO, LeRoy (Tammy) Lydic, Sioux Falls, SD, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her parents, five brothers and one sister, Allen, Melvin (Bud), Edwin (Eddie), Raymond, Orville, and Florence Berke.
Her faith and her family were extremely important to her, as she was to her family. She will be greatly missed.

Kenneth L. DeJong

Kenneth L. DeJong, age 84, of Yankton, South Dakota died Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.
Funeral services are 10:30 AM, Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Reverend Paul Opsahl officiating. Burial will be in the Mission Hill cemetery in Mission Hill, South Dakota with military honors provided by the Ernest-Bowyer VFW Post No. 791 of Yankton. Visitation with the family present is from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, on Friday, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton. Visitation resumes one hour prior to the funeral.
Pallbearers are Nick Wieseler, Jerry Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Steve Johnson, Ron Galvan and Brad Lane.
Kenneth was born January 10, 1924 in Yankton, South Dakota to Bert and Elizabeth (Braunesreither) DeJong. He grew up in Utica, South Dakota where he attended country school and then graduated from Yankton High School. After school, Kenneth joined the United States Army in 1944 and served in the European Theater during World War II. After his discharge, Kenneth moved back to Utica and farmed on the home place. He also worked for the telephone company helping establish phone lines in the area. Kenneth married Helen Nedved and from this union, two daughters were born, Donna and Karen. On August 18, 1978, he married Lola (Stanage) Lowe in Mission Hill. Kenneth retired from farming in 1988 and moved into Utica. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping and working with stained glass.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Lola DeJong of Yankton; daughter, Karen (Wieseler) Leraas and her husband, Dave of Sioux Falls; three grandchildren: Nick Wieseler of Yankton, Chrissey Wieseler of Sioux Falls and Jen Wieseler of Brookings; six step-children: Julie (Gary) Johnson of Wakonda, Joan (Dan) Schroeder of Crofton, NE, Jan (Marlin) Lane of Yankton, Palmer (Jan) Iverson of Oacoma, SD, Clyde Iverson of Crofton and John (Dorothy) Iverson of Wakonda; and one sister, Evelyn Stivers of Sioux City, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Joe Morrison, one sister and four brothers.

Katherine Walloch

Katherine Walloch, age 91 of Yankton and formerly of Tabor, SD, died Friday, April 10, 2009 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, SD.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April, 14, 2009 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Yankton, with Msgr. Carlton Hermann and Fr. Ken Bain con-celebrating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories, Yankton, SD.
Visitations will be 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2009 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. followed by a Scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
Katherine was born to Joseph and Mary (Hlavac) Cap, Sr. on the family farm south of Utica, SD on July 22, 1917. She went to the Pleasant Hill Country School #64 through the eighth grade. She grew up on the family farm. On November 18, 1941 she married George S. Wallach at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Tabor, SD. Together they farmed the Walloch family farm southwest of Lesterville, SD. They retired in July of 1982 and moved to Yankton. Her husband, George, passed away August 15, 1996, and then she moved to Tabor in October of 1996. She later made her home at the Yankton Care Center until she died on Friday, April 10, 2009.
She is survived by two brothers Benjamin of Yankton and Alvin of Lesterville and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister Rose Walloch, and five brothers Joseph, Jr., Edward, Emil, William, and Leo.

Lauren J. Gustafson

Lauren J. Gustafson, 83, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 18, 2012 at the Lanyon Covenant Church, in Lanyon, with Pastor Marc Murchison officiating. Casket Bearers were: Eric & Bret Lind, Bryce, Ryan, Danny, Blake & Alex Gustafson, and Wes, Brandon & Jared Arentson. Honorary Casket Bearers were Mandy Gleason, Kellie Thayer, Kendra & Katie & Megan Gustafson.
Burial was at Lost Grove Township Cemetary, near Harcourt, IA with Military Graveside Rites by the Greenfield-Hartquist American Legion Post #699 of Harcourt.
Lauren J. Gustafson was born on a farm near Lanyon to Victor & Hulda (Swalin) Gustafson on September 16, 1928. He graduated from Harcourt High School in 1946 and served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean War Conflict. On April 4, 1953 he married Patricia (Patty) Carlson at the Lanyon Covenant Church in Lanyon, IA. To this union 6 children were born. He worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 42 years, retiring in 1989 and he also farmed near Lanyon. His wife Patty died in January 2009.
On September 5, 2010 he married Marcetis (Mert) Lindstrom. Lauren suffered a stroke on June 9, 2012 and died at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge on June 14, 2012.
Lauren was a faithful member of the Lanyon Covenant Church, UP Railroad Club 78 and Svenska Klubben. He was an avid Cubs baseball fan and loved following his grandchildren's activities. He enjoyed going to hear the Karl King Band and any musical concert. He served on the Harcourt Town Council for 14 years and was Past President of Brotherhood Maintenance of Way Lodge 285 and a member of the American Legion.
Lauren is survived by his wife Mert, children: Wayne of Boone, IA, Steve (Rhonda) of Paton, IA, Shari (Bob) Lind of Redfield, SD, Tim (Kris) of Jewell, IA, Pam (Larry) Arentson of Redwood Falls, MN and Rick (Lori) of Hubbard; 15 grandchildren: Amanda (Ben) Gleason, Bryce Gustafson, Ryan Gustafson, Eric (Danielle) Lind, Bret (Amber) Lind, Kellie (Landan) Thayer, Kendra Gustafson, Katie Gustafson, Wes (Jenny) Arentson, Brandon Arentson, Jared Arentson, Megan Gustafson, Danny Gustafson, Blake Gustafson, & Alex Gustafson; a great-grandson Zane; brothers, Vernon (Elaine) Gustafson of Algonquin, IL and Leland (Diane) Gustafson of Cedar Rapids, IA, brother-in-law Bob Bergstrom of Waukee, IA and step-children Craig (Penny) Lindstrom of Fort Dodge, Mark (Dalene) Lindstrom of Norcross, GA and Beth (Brian) Bright of Okoboji, IA, 13 step-grandchildren: 1 great-great step-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patty, his parents, sister Mildred Bergstrom and daughter--in-law Sue Gustafson.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Lanyon Covenant Church, Twin Lakes Christian Center or Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.

Ruby D. Kohlbusch

Ruby D. Kohlbusch, of Hartington, Nebraska, died on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at the Golden Living Center in Hartington at the age of 92.
Funeral Services will be on Monday, November 17, 2008 at 10:30 am at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hartington with Rev. Gary Kimm officiating. Burial will be in the Wynot cemetery at Wynot, NE. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.

Florence M. Roth

Florence M. Roth, 95, Sisseton, SD, passed away Monday August 24, 2015, at the Tekakwitha Living Center in Sisseton.
There was a Celebration of Florence’s Life on Saturday, August 29, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Sisseton with Rev. William Schruba officiating. Music was provided by pianist Marlys Brooks and vocalist Pat Schubert.
Burial was in the Sisseton cemetery. Urn bearers were her grandsons, Michael Korshin, Kevin Brooks, Mark Brooks, Chad Brooks, Dino Brooks, Brandon Roth, Christopher Roth and Scott Christianson.
Visitation was Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. The Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt, SD was in charge of the arrangements.
Florence Myrna was born September 1, 1919, to William and Nina (Shilston) Blair in Browns Valley, MN. At a young age, her family moved to Kimball, MN. They moved back to Sisseton when she was in the eighth grade. Florence graduated from Sisseton High School in 1938. Her mother passed away when she was 18. Being the second oldest of eight children, Florence took over to help raise the younger siblings.
On September 30, 1940, Florence married Kenneth Roth in Clinton, MN. They had four children, Barbara, Marlys, Ronald, and Peggy. Kenneth passed away May 16, 1991.
Florence was a busy person and was involved in various organizations in the community. She was a 4-H leader for many years and worked at Stavig’s Store and the Sisseton Courier. She was also a substitute driver for a laboratory out of St. Cloud, MN. She was on a first name basis with the Minnesota Highway Patrol.
Florence loved flowers and had several gardens in her yard. She also had a big garden each year and would can the produce and share with her family. She would bake bread every week and would have dough dogs ready for the kids when they got home from school.
At the age of 62, Florence started painting and photography, and it was obvious she loved them as there was a display of them in her home. At one time, she was the guest photographer at Roberts County Bank. Florence was on the go and always busy. Her home was the hub for all family gatherings and she really loved when the grandkids and great-grandkids came home. She made each and every one of them feel so special.
Florence was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was a Sunday school teacher and involved in Ladies Aid. She sang in the choir for many years and loved doing so.
In the later years, Florence wintered in Arizona. In 2001, she suffered a massive stroke and was then bound to a wheelchair. She spent the past 14½ years at Tekakwitha. She was always happy and had a smile for whomever came to visit her. She may not have remembered your name, but you knew that she knew who you were by the look on her face. She passed away peacefully and quietly.
Survivors include her children, Barbara Korshin of Northport, NY, Marlys (Cleon) Brooks of Sisseton, SD, Ronald (Helene) Roth of Scottsdale, AZ, and Peggy Cigelske of Fargo, ND; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Dahl of Watertown, SD, and Chris Bateman of Normal, IL; sister-in-law, Dolly Foster of Sartell, MN.
Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; parents, William and Nina; brothers, Darrell, Morris, Duane, Robert and infant brother William Blair, Jr.
