Aberdeen, SD - Quentin D. Stewart, 41, of Aberdeen and formerly of Detroit Lakes, MN died Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at his home.
Arrangements are pending with Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory of Aberdeen.

Jackie Davies
4/14/1926 - 6/26/2010

Aberdeen, SD - Funeral service for Jackie Davies, 84, of Aberdeen will be 10:00 am, Friday, July 2, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Kline St. The Rev. Jon Damaska will officiate.
Burial will be in Riverside Memorial cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 3-8 pm at the funeral home.
She died Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Red Rose Care Home in Aberdeen.
Jacquline “Jackie” Ann Lees, daughter of David E. and Violet (Preston) Lees was born April 14, 1926 at Aberdeen, SD. This is where she was raised, graduating from Central High School with the class of 1944. She then attended the University of South Dakota. She moved to Omaha, NE, working at Offutt Air Force Base during the war effort of World War II. In the late 1940’s, she returned to Aberdeen and worked at the Internal Revenue Service as a secretary, where she met her future husband.
She was united in marriage to Wayne O. Davies on April 27, 1956 in First Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen. They made their home in Aberdeen and she then chose to stay at home and raise her family. Her husband died June 6, 1998. She continued to make Aberdeen her home and in December of 2007 she moved to Red Rose Care Home.
Jackie enjoyed being the supervisor of the family garden. She collected miniature shoes and recently looked forward to watching Dancing with the Stars. In the winter, visiting her sons in Arizona was always something she looked forward too.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Women of the Moose and a Birthday Club.
Survivors include three sons, David (Mary) Davies of Phoenix, AZ, Craig (Berinda) Davies of Gilbert, AZ and Brian (Suzanne) Davies of Sartell, MN, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Her parents, husband and one sister, Nancy Barnes preceded her in death.
Casketbearers will be Brian Davies, Craig Davies, David Davies, Jonathan Davies, Jeff Sahli and Edward Trygstad.
The pianist will be Valynda Weller.

Frances “Fran” Hausmann
5/17/1924 - 2/10/2009

Aberdeen, SD - Memorial service for Frances “Fran” Hausmann, 84, of Aberdeen and formerly of Ellendale, ND will be 10:00 am, Monday, February 16, 2009 at Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory, 1708 8th Ave. NE. The Rev. Thomas Anderson will officiate.
She died Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at ManorCare Health Services at Aberdeen.
Frances Zimmerle, daughter of William and Anna (Bachman) Zimmerle was born May 17, 1924 on the family farm near Butte, Nebraska. She attended country school through the eighth grade. She helped on the family farm and was oldest daughter of 11 children, helping raise her brothers and sisters.
She was united in marriage to Leonard Hausmann on December 9, 1942 in Nebraska. They made their home in Arthur, ND and worked together doing farm work. In 1945, they moved to Ellendale and farmed together raising small grains and livestock. In the 1950’s she began working at the Ellendale Hospital and later at Ellendale Clinic. In 1972, they relocated to Denver where she worked at Swedish Hospital until her retirement. In 2003, they moved to Aberdeen.
Frances enjoyed flowers, plants, crocheting, crossword puzzles, reading and watching television and especially soap operas. Trips to Dakota Magic Casino were always fun for her. She has left her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with many fond memories of the moments they shared.
Survivors include her husband of Aberdeen, three daughters, Connie (Floyd) Fiechtner of Pearl River, Louisiana, Vikki (Kevin) Kendall of Warner, SD and Debbie (Cliff) Dahl of Sydney, Montana, one daughter-in-law, Kathy Hausmann of Denver, Colorado, three sisters, June Germain of Denver, Delores Buterbough of Lebanon, Tennessee and Mary Holsinger of West Moreland, Tennessee, 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Her parents, one son, James, six brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
Honorary Urnbearers will be Frances’s grandchildren, James, Kara, Justin, Stacie, Stefanie, Jeremy, Jodi, Shawn, Angie, Toby and Fran.
Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory of Aberdeen have been entrusted with arrangements.

Michelle R. Spence
8/27/1953 - 12/13/2008

Aberdeen, SD - Michelle R. Spence, 55, of Aberdeen and formerly of Billings, Montana died Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Billings.
Survivors include her mother, Hazel Spence of Webster, two sisters, Susan Spence of Webster and Lisa Spence of Clear Lake, SD and one brother, Jeffrey Spence of Webster.

Arllys A. Schock
11/5/1930 - 12/27/2008

Ashley, ND - Memorial service for Arllys A. Schock, 78 years, 1 month and 22 days of age of Ashley will be 11:00 am, Friday, January 2, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church at Ashley. Pastor Sharon Korsmo will officiate.
Inurnment will be in Zion Lutheran cemetery in the spring.
She went to be with the Lord Saturday, December 27, 2008.
Arllys A. Schock, daughter of E.W. and Ida P. (Becker) Schock was born November 5, 1930 at Aberdeen, SD. She was baptized December 28, 1930 and confirmed in 1945 in Zion Lutheran Church at Ashley. She grew up in Ashley, graduating from Ashley High School with the class of 1949. She then attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. After graduation, she returned to Ashley where she taught country school for a number of years. She also worked in her parents general merchandise store. She retired in 1972 and was then the primary caregiver to her mother until 1985. Arllys thoroughly enjoyed the company of friends at coffee.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one brother, Dennis (Leona ) Schock of Ashley, nephews and niece, Jaysen (Laura) Schock of West Fargo, Denise (Jason) Klipfel of Ft Yates and Erich Schock of Ashley, great-nephews, Justin, Travis and Noah Schock of West Fargo and great-nieces, McKenzie and Alexis Klipfel of Ft. Yates.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Honorary Urnbearers will be “The Coffee Ladies”.
Urnbearers will be Erich Schock, Justin Schock, Jaysen Schock, Laura Schock, Denise Klipfel and Jason Klipfel.
The organist will be Steve Glaesmann and the soloist is Lana Christmann.

Diana Iverson
(November 22, 1942 - January 3, 2015)

Memorial services for Diana Iverson, age 72, of Meadow, SD and Lemmon, SD, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Prince of Peace Chapel of the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon, SD, with Rev. Derrick Jones, officiating.
Diana Gail Griff was born on November 22, 1942, in Bowman, ND, to Harvey and Doris (Hestekin) Griff. She grew up on the family farm and attended grade school and graduated from high school. Following her schooling, Diana attended Beauty College in Bismarck, ND. She returned to Scranton, ND, and began working as a waitress at cafés and restaurants in Bowman.
She met Darrel Iverson and they were united in marriage on July 18, 1966, in Rapid City, SD. She traveled with Darrel as he worked as a custom harvester and construction worker. They settled in Kansas, where two daughters, Becky and Lisa, were born. Diana worked again as a waitress along with raising her family.
In 1990, the family moved to the Meadow, SD area where Diana continued to live until entering 5 Counties Nursing Home in 2012. She passed away there on Saturday evening, January 3, 2014.
Diana is survived by her husband, Darrel Iverson, Meadow, SD; two daughters, Becky Iverson (Randy Strain) Cheyenne, WY and Lisa (Ryan) Chaney, Mitchell, NE; two grandchildren, Greisyn and Kreed Chaney; and one brother, Darin (Shari) Griff, Hayden Lake, ID.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Eva Hotvet
(March 2, 1921 - August 23, 2012)

Eva Hotvet, age 91, of Sioux Falls, died on Thursday, August 23, 2012, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, with internment in the Zion Lutheran cemetery, Colton. Visitation with the family present will be 5-7:00 P.M. Monday, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
Eva Lorraine was born to Oscar and Mabel (Grinde) Albertson on March 2, 1921, at the family farm near Nunda, South Dakota. She was baptized at Prairie Queen Lutheran Church. Eva was four when her mother and two young sisters died and as a result, her Aunt Clara and Uncle Alfred Thompson raised her in Colton. She was confirmed at First Lutheran Church and graduated Colton High School. She earned a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Home Economics from South Dakota State College in Brookings in 1943.
On March 18, 1945, Eva married Milton I. Hotvet in Colton. They lived in Rock Rapids, Inwood, and Spencer, Iowa. Following Milton’s debilitating car accident in 1957 they moved to Sioux Falls in 1959. Eva began a career as a home economist at Sioux Valley Electric in 1965. The family lived in Madison until 1977 and in Colman until 1985. Eva and Milton then moved to Sioux Falls where Milton died July 19, 1990.
Grateful for having shared her life are her daughters: Linda Koelln, Brookings, and Kathleen (Delane) Poppe, Lennox; sons: Owen (Jan) Hotvet, Sioux Falls, and Michael (Kathy Jo) Hotvet, Wentworth; eleven grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Pearl Albertson, Madison; and numerous nieces, nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; an infant son; siblings: Melba Christensen, Irene Albertson, Ina Mae Albertson, G. Carmen Albertson, and G. Vernon Albertson; and her husband’s nine loving sisters.

Caroline Berg Boyer
9/15/1920 - 12/15/2008

Groton, SD - Funeral service for Caroline Berg Boyer, 88, of Groton and formerly of Aberdeen will be 1:00 pm, Monday, December 22, 2008 at Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory, 1708 8th Ave. NE. The Rev. Jeff Whillock will officiate.
Burial will be in Bath cemetery, Bath, SD. Lunch and fellowship will follow at the Eagles Club.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm and on Monday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
She died Monday, December 15, 2008 at Golden Living Center at Groton, SD.
Caroline McKinnon, daughter of Kenneth and Emma (Fritchie) McKinnon was born September 15, 1920 at Minneapolis, Minnesota.
She was united in marriage to Clinton Berg on December 7, 1945 at Minneapolis after he was honorably discharged from the service. They had four children and Carol was a stay at home mom, raising their family in North Dakota and South Dakota. Her husband died in 1973. Carol then moved to Fargo where she was a housemother and cook at North Dakota State University for about 15 years. She was an honorary Gamma Phi Beta and helped raise so many of the college students at NDSU.
She was then united in marriage to Lorin Boyer on September 18, 1991 at Wahpeton, ND. They lived in Wahpeton until they moved to Aberdeen. They were active in the Eagles Club for 17 years. Her husband died December 11, 2007.
Carol was a ray of sunshine to everyone. She had a knack for always smiling and cheering everyone up. She was an avid reader all her life and always had a stash of three or four boxes of books tucked away. When in Minneapolis, she spent a great deal of time with her mother going to the movies and later enjoyed movies with her children and grandchildren. Spending time with her family was her greatest love; she could cook and bake for them, making sugar bread sandwiches for her grandchildren to eat on the way home. A wonderful gift that she left her grandchildren was stories that she read to them and taped so that they could listen to them when she couldn’t be there for them.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy (Dean) Weismantel of Aberdeen and Laurie (Curtis) Nulle of Belle Fourche, SD, two sons, Ken “Bergy” Berg and Mark Berg, both of Aberdeen, seven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and four families of step-children in ND. Also, her caring family at Golden Living Center and her dear friend, Dorothy Waba.
Her parents, both husbands and one brother preceded her in death.
Casketbearers will be Dean Weismantel, Mark Berg, Ken Berg, Josh Berg, Jeff Schick and Curtis Nulle.
The organist will be Bev Bieber and the soloist is Camille Fischer.
The family prefers memorials be made to Golden Living Center, 1106 N. 2nd St., Groton, SD 57445.
