Arthur R. Schlepp
8/28/1919 - 1/6/2009

Ashley, ND - Funeral service for Arthur R. Schlepp, 89, of Ashley will be 11:00 am, Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Salem Reformed Church at Ashley. The Rev. James Grossmann will officiate.
Burial will be in Ashley City cemetery with military graveside rites by Frank Piper American Legion Post #53.
There will be a prayer service Friday at 4:00 pm with visitation from 4-6 pm at the funeral home.
He died Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the Ashley Medical Center.
Arthur R. Schlepp, son of Jacob J. and Carolina (Stroh) Schlepp was born August 28, 1919 on the family homestead northeast of Venturia, ND. This is where he was raised while attending country school.
He was united in marriage to Olive Spitzer on November 2, 1941 in Zion Lutheran Church at Ashley. They made their home on a farm, raising small grains and livestock. During World War II, he entered the United States Army in December of 1942 and served in the Pacific Theatre and Japan until being honorably discharged in December of 1945. He returned to Venturia and farmed, also working for Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service as a Fieldman for 15 years. In 1949, they established a homestead farm two miles north and three miles west of Venturia. They farmed there until June 14, 1995 when they retired and moved into Ashley.
Arthur did much volunteer work for Salem Reformed Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and always would be there to help others when needed.
He was a life member of Salem Reformed Church where he had been a Deacon and Treasurer for 19 years. He also was a member of Frank Piper American Legion Post #53 and McIntosh County Veterans of Foreign War, where he had served as a Commander and Treasurer for both.
Survivors include his wife of Ashley, one daughter, Linda (Wilton) Schlepp-Gray of Pembrooke Pines, Florida, one son, Lester (JoAnn) Schlepp of Yakima, Washington, one sister, Maggie Schlepp of Ashley and two grandsons, Darin (Jennifer) Schlepp and their children, Connor and Hunter and Eric (Tricia) Schlepp and their children, Payton and Adam.
His parents, four brothers, Gustave, Milton, Jacob and Adam and one sister, Martha Dockter preceded him in death.
Honorary Casketbearers will be Frank Piper American Legion Post #53 and McIntosh County Veterans of Foreign War.
Casketbearers will be Darin Schlepp, Eric Schlepp, Blake Mehlhaff, Myron Schlepp, Wayne Schlepp and Jeff Schlepp.
The organist will be Michelle Grossmann and the soloist is Neal Schlepp.
Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley has been entrusted with arrangements.

Loretta I. Fischer
6/21/1929 - 1/23/2009

Ashley, ND - Funeral service for Loretta I. Fischer, 79, of Ashley will be 10:30 am, Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at Ashley Baptist Church. The Rev. Darwin Stahl will officiate.
Burial will be in Ashley City cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
She died Friday, January 23, 2009 at the Ashley Medical Center.
Loretta I. Schneider, daughter of Emil and Bertha (Miller) Schneider was born June 21, 1929 near Haynes, ND. She attended school at Haynes and Hettinger, ND. She then taught country school near Haynes and later at a school southwest of Ashley. She then attended Valley City Teachers College. In 1950, she accepted a teaching position in Ashley where she taught First Grade for one year.
She was united in marriage to Orvil Fischer on November 28, 1952 in Grace Baptist Church at Hettinger. They made their home on the Fischer farm southwest of Ashley. She worked at the Ashley Nursing Home for 17 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant. In 2003, they moved into Ashley.
Loretta loved being around her grandchildren. She was an avid doll collector, enjoyed knitting, quilting and cross stitching. Keeping in touch with family and friends through e-mail was always enjoyable. She also loved to garden flowers and vegetables and could always be found in the kitchen baking. Her Saturday mornings were spent with the breakfast group where she enjoyed the company of many friends. Loretta and Orvil liked to travel for pleasure and went on several mission trips.
She was a member of Ashley Baptist Church, where she was a past Sunday school teacher, church trio member and church treasurer. Also, a member of Tabitha Women’s Missionary Fellowship, Ashley Senior Center and she volunteered at the Ashley Nursing Home.
Survivors include her husband of Ashley, three sons, Darvin (Candace) Fischer and Royce Fischer, both of Ashley and Steve (Billie Jo) Fischer of Rolla, ND, one daughter, Colleen Reardon of Bismarck, one brother, Clifford (Maureen) Schneider of Spokane, Washington, three sisters, Phyllis (Leroy) Nielsen of Pine Haven, Wyoming, Doreen Edwards of Terre Haute, Indiana and Vera (Duane) Wahl of Minneapolis, Minnesota, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Her parents, four brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
Honorary Casketbearers will be Loretta’s nieces and nephews and the Ashley Nursing Home Certified Nursing Assistants.
Casketbearers will be Joel Fischer, Rory Fischer, Dan Silvey, Curtis Schneider, David Hettesheimer Jr., Scott Schneider, Vaughn Edwards and Trent Nielsen.
The organist will be Candace Nies, the soloist is Lana Christmann and there will be a duet by Leroy and Phyllis Nielsen.
The family prefers memorials be made to Ashley Medical Center, PO Box 450, Ashley, ND 58413 or Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.

Lilly Page
(July 14, 1915 - November 29, 2012)

Lilly Page, 97, of Sioux Falls formerly of Colton died Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic. Burial will be in the Dell Rapids cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral Home.
Lilly was born July 14, 1915 to Parents Jens and Enga (Vik) Moe on the family farm in Moody County. She attended country school and later attended Trent High School.
Lilly was united in marriage to Ordell Page December 22, 1934 in Sioux Falls. They farmed near Dell Rapids for seven years and in 1941 they moved to a farm near Colton. In 1992 they moved to Sioux Falls. Ordell died March 26, 1999.
Lilly was an active member of the West Nidaros Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years.
Grateful for having shared he life are a son, Paul Page and his wife Harriet, Sioux Falls; a daughter, Cary Vande Vooren and her husband Darryl, Lawrence, Kansas; three grandchildren, Paula, Mike and David; six great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ordell, three brothers, Jens “Bob”, Carl and Paul, two sisters, an Infant and Pearl.

Rev. Charles "Chuck" Robert Pinkerton Jr.

Rev. Charles "Chuck" Robert Pinkerton Jr., age 49, of Yankton, South Dakota died Wednesday, January 28, 2009.
A Celebration of Life Service is 9:30 AM, Monday, February 2, 2009 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Reverend Vince Smith officiating. Visitation with public viewing is from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, on Sunday, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home with a video tribute and time of sharing at 7:00 PM.
Chuck was born on August 22, 1959 at Kingsley Air Force Base in Hamilton, Bermuda to Rev. Charles Sr. and Carma (Overstreet) Pinkerton. He graduated from Trenton High School in Trenton, Florida where he lettered in 4 sports: basketball, football, track and wrestling. Chuck entered the United States Army and received the General Creighton W. Abrams Award for outstanding recruit for his basic training class. Chuck went on to his field of finance and accounting at Ft. Eustis, Virginia and then in Aschaffenburg, Germany, where he met his wife of 26 1/2 years, Melanie Myklebost Pinkerton. In 1981, he was transferred to Ft. McClellan, Alabama. There his two daughters were born, Charlene in 1981 and Erika in 1983. At Ft. McClellan, Chuck received Soldier of the Month on several occasions. In 1985, he was transferred back to Frankfort, Germany and his family stayed behind. It was then that his son, Stephen was born. After his exit from the military in 1986, Chuck and his family returned to their home in Jacksonville, Florida. There he came to know the Lord and accept his call into full-time Christian service. Following his call, he went to Florida Baptist Theological College. He graduated with honors receiving his Bachelors of Theology. Later he received his Masters of Theology from Anderson Baptist Seminary. Chuck would go on to pastor First Baptist Church in St. George Island, FL, Ferris Hill Baptist Church in Milton, FL, New Horizons Christian Fellowship in Milton, FL and finally Yankton Baptist Church in Yankton. Chuck will always be thought of as a charismatic, fun loving guy who was not your typical preacher. He had a passion for teaching the youth and he touched many lives by being just one of the regular guys. Chuck enjoyed woodworking, cooking and watching college football, especially the Florida Gators. He was a big history buff and enjoyed learning about the Civil War and World War II.
Chuck is survived by his 3 children: Charlene Segree of Yankton, Erika Tripp of Suwon, Korea and Stephen Pinkerton of Ft. Bragg, NC; parents, Rev. Charles Sr. and Carma Pinkerton of Dothan, AL; ex-wife, Melanie Pinkerton of Yankton; 4 grandchildren: Alexis Segree of St. George Island, FL, Jose and David Swager of Milton, FL and Aydan McDaniel of Yankton; brother, Christopher (Helga) Pinkerton of Brunswick, GA; sister, Christina (Guillermo) Vanagas of South Florida; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Chuck touched everyone he met and he strived to help you see that Jesus could be the light of your life. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Bernice E. Turnwall
4/20/1924 - 12/23/2008

Leola, SD - Funeral service for Bernice E. Turnwall, 84, of Leola will be 10:00 am, Saturday, December 27, 2008 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Leola. Pastor Nathan Henschen will officiate.
Burial will be in Green Mound cemetery at Leola.
There will be a prayer service Friday at 7 pm with visitation from 3-7 pm at the funeral home.
She died Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital.
Bernice E. Kamm, daughter of Fred and Flossie (Clark) Kamm was born April 20, 1924 at Claremont, SD. The family relocated to the Leola area where she grew up and attended school. She graduated from Leola High School with the class of 1942 and went on to attend Northern State Teachers College where she earned a Bachelors degree in Education. She taught at rural schools in the Leola area for 20 years and an additional 25 years with the Leola School District.
She was united in marriage to John Turnwall on November 1, 1946 at Leola. Her husband died in 1983. She retired in the mid 1980’s and continued to do substitute teaching into the 1990’s.
Bernice thoroughly enjoyed traveling. Her travels led her to places such as Florida, Hawaii, Philippines, Philadelphia, Washington, DC and New Jersey. She was a collector of clocks and roosters. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren always put a smile on her face. She enjoyed keeping track of her past student lives and returned many of the gifts she had received from them over the years when they married or for their graduations. Every gift was marked with a name and saved.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Retired Teachers Association and 57 years with American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include three sons, Stewart (Christine) Turnwall of Sioux Falls, Dick (Corazon) Turnwall of Delano, MN and Patrick (Cindy) Turnwall of Phoenix, AZ, three sisters, Crystal Suurmeyer of Aberdeen, Donna Karr of Redfield and Ardella Casey of Jacksonville, FL, one brother, Victor Kamm of Aberdeen, 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and special friends, Betty Maroney and Todd and Marla Weig.
Her parents, husband, two sons, John and one in infancy, one sister, Lylice Hehn and two brothers, Marvin and Lloyd preceded her in death.
Casketbearers will be her grandchildren, Dennis Turnwall, Casey Turnwall, Shanna Turnwall, Michelle Vander Heyden, Misty Turnwall, Ryan Turnwall, Kelly Turnwall, Toni Turnwall, Christopher Turnwall, Ginny Turnwall, Amber Weig and Austin Weig.
The organist will be Sharon Bain.

Wayne Glodery
6/13/1929 - 12/22/2008

Aberdeen, SD - Memorial service for Wayne Glodery, 79, of Aberdeen will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory, 1708 8th Ave. NE. Pastor Tom Haggar will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military graveside rites by Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post #24.
He died Monday, December 22, 2008 at ManorCare Health Services.
Wayne Glodery, son of Vernon and Mildred (Brown) Glodery was born June 13, 1929 at Britton, SD. This is where he grew up and attended school. He entered the United States Navy in July 9, 1946 and received basic training in California. He was then sent to the Aleutian Islands where he spent 18 months. He was honorably discharged on May 14, 1948.
He was united in marriage to Isla Schuur on July 3, 1949 in the Methodist Church at Britton. He worked for Game Fish and Parks at Roy Lake, SD. In 1957, they moved to Aberdeen. He purchased two truck lines, which he operated for 41 years.
Wayne liked to keep busy, so he became a taxidermist which he thoroughly enjoyed. He also like to hunt and fish.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Whitetail Bowman Archery Club, Bowling League and Veterans of Foreign War. He was always willing to help someone. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Grateful for having shared his life is his wife of 59 years, Isla, one daughter, Jeanne (Ron) Bonnet of Powell, Wyoming, one sister, Bonnie (Cliff) Olson of Britton, one grandson, Chad Bonnet of Cody, Wyoming and two great-grandchildren, Casey and Katie Bonnet.
His parents, one sister, Nila Johnson and one niece, Patricia Lawrence preceded him in death.
The organist will be Marilyn Gibbs and the soloist is Camille Fischer.

Alberta M. Pearse
(August 11, 1920 - August 8, 2012)

Alberta M. Pearse, 91, of Sioux Falls formerly of Colton died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the Sanford USD Medical Center.
Alberta was born in Sioux Falls August 11, 1920 to parents Albert and Clara (Shaffer) Miller. She graduated from Colton High School in 1938 and later attended Business College in Omaha. After employment in Omaha and Sioux Falls, she went to Washington, DC where she worked as a secretary in the Navy and Treasury Departments, U. S. House of Representatives and the Veterans Administration.
Alberta married Gordon Pearse in 1969 and they resided in Alexandria, VA. Gordon passed away in 1979. In 1988 Alberta moved to the Richmond, VA area where she lived until 2000, when she returned to Sioux Falls.
Grateful for having shared her life are her brothers, Vince (Betty) Miller, Duane (Loretta) Miller, all of Sioux Falls and Donald (Kathy) Miller, Alze, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Forrest.
Memorial services will begin at 3:00 PM Monday, August 13, 2012 at the Trail Ridge Retirement Community Chapel, 3408 W. Ralph Rogers Rd, Sioux Falls.
