Elmire Reddick

Elmire E. Reddick, 96, of St. Onge, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at Spearfish Regional Hospital.
Survivors include her sister, Mildred Redmond, of Montclair, Calif; daughters, Rose and Dale Riley and Rita and Ralph Heinert; daughter-in-law, Ellen Reddick; grandchildren, Linda Dyer, Diane Garduna Randy Riley Curtis, Shawn and Trevor Heinert and Erin and Tara Reddick; great-grandchildren, Michael and Jason Dyer, Briana Soucy, Lance Garduna, Kristi and Dale Riley, and Hailey and Matthew Heinert; six nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.
Funeral arrangements are pending with Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel of Spearfish.

Gwen Miles

Gwen Marie Miles, 74, Spearfish, died July 4, 2001, at Lookout Memorial Hospital, Spearfish.
Among her survivors are her husband, Clarence Miles, Spearfish; three daughters, Nancy George, Farmington, N.M., Mary Radford, Sturgis, and Julie Lewis, Spearfish; three sons, Bill Miles, Norfolk, Neb., Melvin Miles, Cincinnati, Ohio, and David Miles, Ellicott, Md.; one sister, Gay Lynn, Spearfish; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending with Fidler Funeral Chapel, Spearfish.

Martha Simon

Martha Simon, 89, of Spearfish, died Feb. 12, 2006, at the Infinia Health Care Center in Fairbault, Minn.
Services will be held at a later date.
Survivors include three daughters, Marilyn Benting, of Cambridge, Minn., May Trost, of Wanamingo, Minn., and Valerie Ulrich, of Fairbault, Minn.; and one sister, Paulina Jenkins, of Portland, Ore.
The Aldinger Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Spearfish has been entrusted with arrangements.

Ardell Simons

Ardell Joseph Simons, of Spearfish, passed away on Feb. 9, 2006, at a local nursing home.
Visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 13, 2006, at the Black Hills Funeral Home, 1440 Junction Ave., in Sturgis, with a rosary starting at 7 p.m. Latin Catholic mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, at Black Hills Funeral Home, with the Rev. Anthony Ward as celebrant. Interment will be at St. Aloysius cemetery in Sturgis, followed by a luncheon at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Ardell was born on Oct. 17, 1919, to Guy and Blanche (Bradley) Simons. He was raised on a homestead ranch north of White Owl and attended the Simons School. He married Gwendolyn Marye Pellegrin on Aug. 2, 1940. During their 66 years together, they raised nine children and ranched at various locations in western South Dakota.
Ardell's survivors include two brothers, Warren, and Bill and his wife Verna, of Denver, Colo.; sister Joan and her husband Russell Brynjulson, of Las Vegas, Nev.; sons Guy, of Denver, Colo., Father Kevin of Colorado Springs, Colo., Pat and wife Julie, of Hudson, Colo.; daughters, Mardel, Ginger, Linda and her husband Joe Henry, Anne and her husband Rick Rochelle, all of Spearfish, Shezalle and her husband Thomas Cook, of Hot Springs, Colleen and her husband Joe Conklin, of Beulah, Wyo; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwen, on Aug. 10, 2005; his parents, Guy and Blanche Simons; brothers, Mark and Richard; sister, Arlene Perry; and two grandsons, Riley Doyen and Kurt Blair.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Aldinger Funeral Home of Spearfish, and Black Hills Funeral Home of Sturgis.
A memorial has been established in Ardell's name.

Edna Lee Johnson

Edna Lee Johnson, 86, of Lead, beloved wife, sister and aunt, went home to be with the lord on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, in Butte, Mont. Edna spent the last precious months of her life near family, who are so grateful to have had that time with her.
Edna was born Aug. 18, 1919, in Bassfield, Miss., to Edward H. and Gay Polk Martin. She was one of 12 children and grew up on a ranch. Her parents died of pneumonia when she was young, and she and a brother came to live in Lead with an older, married sister. She later met and married Wesley H. Johnson from Calumet, Mich., on Sept. 17, 1938.
Edna was a devoted wife and homemaker and this was her greatest joy. She and Wesley later provided a home to her two younger sisters, Janell and Videll.
Edna loved crocheting, cooking, baking, and visiting with family and friends. She and her husband loved camping, fishing, boating, traveling and bowling. She was a member of the Northern Hills First Baptist Church.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1994. Also preceding her in death were her parents; sisters Iva (Charles) Shade, of Petal, Miss., Lona (Albert) Murry, of Hattisburg, Miss., and Inez (John) McNease, of Bassfield, Miss.; brothers James (Alberta) Martin, Paul (Betty) Martin, Jeff (Cleo) Martin, and Leland (Mavis) Martin all of Mississippi.
Survivors include sisters Janell Wirtz of Butte, Mont., Videll Moltich of Cheney, Wash., Madell (Willy) Lucus of Hattisburg, Miss., brother Elvin Martin of Centralia, Wash., sister-in-law Peggy (Bill) Johnson of Calumet, Mich., and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to service time on Wednesday. Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at Lead-Deadwood Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Pat McBride officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Lawn cemetery near Lead.

Dorothy Smith

Dorothy C. Smith passed away Jan. 17, 2006, at Mother Joseph Care Center in Olympia, Wash.
Dorothy Carol Prater was born to Neal and Bernice Prater in Deadwood, on Feb. 21, 1935.
Dorothy lived with her parents in Deadwood until moving to Elk Point, during WWII, returning to Deadwood for a short time then moving to Lead. Dorothy graduated from Lead High School in 1953, working at the Thrift Shoppe, New York Store, Homestake Mining Company for many years. Dorothy remembers fondly the two years playing Calamity Jane in the Trial of Jack McCall. She was working for the Black Hills Clinic in Deadwood when she moved to Washington in 1983. Dorothy then worked for St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. She was a member of Lacey Community Church.
Dorothy leaves many loyal friends in both South Dakota and Washington, and is happy to have shared life with so many loving and loyal friends.
A funeral was held at 11 a.m., today, at Lacey Community Church, in Lacey, Wash. Interment was also held today at Mountain View cemetery, Auburn, Wash. Remembrances may be made in the form of donations to Lacey Community Church, 4501 19th Avenue SE, Lacey, WA 98503, or Mother Joseph Care Center, 3333 Ensign Rd NE, Olympia, WA, 98506. Services were under the direction of Mills & Mills Funeral Home, 5725 Littlerock Rd. SW, Tumwater, WA.

Margaret A. Moline

Margaret A. Moline, 82, Aladdin, Wyo., passed away Friday, June 24, 2005 at the Crook County Memorial Hospital in Sundance, Wyo.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 1 at St. James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche, S.D., with Pastor Jeff M. Otterman officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National cemetery, Sturgis, S.D.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 30th at Kline-Frost Funeral Chapel in Belle Fourche. The casket will be closed at the church before services.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Crook County Nursing Home in Sundance.
Margaret was born on December 15, 1922 at the family ranch North of Aladdin to Arthur Bunney and Lena (Miller) Bunney. She attended rural school in Crook County and graduated from Belle Fourche High School in 1939. She attended Black Hills Normal College for two years, graduating with her teachers certificate.
She taught school for one year at Oshoto, Wyo., and several years at Aladdin. During WWII she worked as a welder at the ship yards in Long Beach, Calif.
Margaret married John A. Moline Sr. on December 22, 1945. They lived in Deadwood for 1 year and moved to Kimball, S.D., where they farmed until 1959. They returned to the family ranch North of Aladdin and have lived there up until the last two years.
She was active in Homemakers for 55 years. She was also involved in 4-H, the Republican Women, the Crook County FFA, Farm Bureau, the Historical Society and was active in the Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking. She lived for her extended family, enjoying time spent with her children and grandchildren and their various activities.
Survivors include her husband, John A. Moline Sr., Sundance; Sons, John A. Moline Jr., Kevin Moline and David Moline all of Aladdin Wyo., Daniel (Kathy) Moline, Riverton, Wyo., Ted (Destyn) Moline, Moorcroft, Wyo., Galen (Debbie) Moline, Big Piney, Wyo and Brett (Judy) Moline, Laramie, Wyo; 11 grandchildren, J-R Moline, Rachael Moline, Jenna Moline, Garth Moline, Philip Moline, Nicole Moline, Jennifer Moline, Aimee Moline, Nicholas Moline, Joel Moline and Jace Walker; three great-grandchildren, A-J Moline, Dominick Murillo and Sismundo Murillo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant children, Patricia and Douglas; brother, Donald Bunney.

Jon Isaac Johnson

Memorial services for Jon Johnson of Gillette, Wyoming will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis, South Dakota with Pastor Harold Delbridge officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Gillette.
Johnson, age 32, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2005 in Johnson County of electrocution.
Jon Isaac Johnson was born September 30, 1972 the son of Dean and Judy (Griffith) Johnson in Sturgis. He was raised in Faith, S.D., on the family ranch. He attended Faith schools. While in high school Jon participated in wrestling, a sport he very much enjoyed. Upon graduating from Faith High School in 1990 he entered the U.S. Coast Guard. When John returned from the Coast Guard he enrolled at Western Dakota Vo-tech in Rapid City, to pursue an electrical education. On July 22, 1995 Jon married Amy Kay Gross in Lead. As a young man Jon worked in Dillingham, Alaska, at the Homestake Mine in South Dakota, Union Pacific Rail Road in Nebraska, the prison in Rawlins, Wyo., finally in 2000 he and his family moved to Gillette, Wyo. Here he worked for Universal Consulting and Electrical Specialist. In 2003 Jon and Amy started their own business, AJ Electric. He was so proud of his business; he did a wonderful job & took pride in his work. Jon loved to ride and fix up snowmobiles. He was a member of Wyoming State Snowmobile Association, and Campbell County Snowgoers. He enjoyed camping, riding horses and working cattle. His family was his everything and he never missed any of his children's sport activities.
Jon is survived by his wife, Amy Johnson; twin sons: Jeff and Jess one daughter, Jerika Johnson all of the family home in Gillette; parents, Dean and Judy Johnson; two brothers: Chris Johnson and Russ Johnson; and one grandmother Carol Johnson all of Faith; four nephews and three nieces.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Ike & Lola May Griffith and Kenneth Johnson; one uncle Kink Adcock.
Memorials are suggested to benefit the children's education and may be sent in care of the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home 210 W. 5th Street, Gillette, Wyoming 82716.

William "Bill" Lum Taylor

William "Bill" Lum Taylor, 87, of Spearfish, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at Dorsett Health Care in Spearfish.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Feb. 25, 2006, at the United Church of Christ in Spearfish, with the Rev. Dr. Jeri Behringer officiating, with Masonic rites conducted by Spearfish Lodge No. 18 AF&AM.; Visitation will be for one hour at the church prior to the funeral service. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m., at Valley View cemetery in Broadus, Mont.
Memorials may be directed to benefit Masonic Charities.
Bill was born on Feb. 7, 1919, in Lead, to Henry and Adeline (Scialdo) Taylor. He ranched near Broadus, Mont., for many years before moving to Spearfish, where he was employed at Homestake Lumber and Timber Department and then at Pope and Talbot Sawmill. He was a lifetime member of the Spearfish Masonic Lodge No. 18 AF &AM; (Tyler), the Black Hills York Rite and Knights Templar, a five-time Past Patron of Queen City Chapter No. 89 Order of Eastern Star, in Spearfish, Past Noble Grand, of Belle Fourche IOOF No. 119, Degree of Honor, and the Order of the Moose.
Survivors include one brother, George P. Taylor, of Seattle, Wash.; one sister, Dorothy J. Goins, of San Mateo, Calif.; three nephews; and two nieces.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Thelma.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel of Spearfish.

Joshua Michael Yanzick

Joshua Michael Yanzick, 29, of Spearfish, died Sunday, Feb. 19, in Spearfish.
Josh was born April 16, 1976, in Spearfish, the son of Michael W. and Patricia M. (Haivala) Yanzick. He grew up in Spearfish, graduating from Spearfish High School in 1994. He attended and graduated from SDSU in 1999. He taught school at Kimball High School, Crow Creek High School and Spearfish High School. He also worked at the Silverado and was deployed with the 153rd Engineering Battalion, Winner and Wagner, to Iraq in December of 2003.
Josh married Brandi Lundell, of Sundance, Wyo., in May 1997. He returned from deployment in February of 2005, and began work at Dyno Nobel Coal Mine in Gillette, Wyo.
He was a life member of the S.D. Fur Harvesters Association and the V.F.W. Josh was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed trapping, hunting and fishing. He was a devoted father to his three children.
Surviving him are his children: son Chance and daughters, Journey and Sierra, of Gillette, Wyo.; his mother, Patricia Yanzick, of Spearfish; brother Jeremiah Yanzick, of Spearfish; his grandmother, Carol Haivala, of Spearfish; grandparents Pat and Bob Yanzick, of Spearfish; his uncle, Bob (Barbara) Haivala; aunts Barbara Haivala and Rita Cole; numerous other aunts; uncles; and cousins.
Josh was preceded in death by his father Michael in 1989; grandmother Cecilia Haivala in 1964; grandfather Paul in 1991; and his aunt, Carol Anderson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m.. Friday, Feb, 24, 2006, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Spearfish with the Rev. Hans Sacrisson officiating. Burial with military honors will be at the Black Hills National cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 - 7 p.m., on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, at the Aldinger Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Spearfish. A memorial has been established to a fund for benefit of Joshua's children.
The Aldinger Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Spearfish has been entrusted with the arrangements.
