It was the summer of 1984
We lived with our mom in a big pink house
And who was the strange man
living nest door?
To our delight he wasn’t such a fright
He and mom went together just right.
In the fall of 1986
He officially became
our family’s permanent fix.
Through the years we have
many fond memories
Of spaghetti dinners, basketball games
and camping trips.
Westerns, boating, elbow slams
and many coaching tips.
As our family grows he remains
a constant source of strength in our lives.
He is what we strive to be.
He is the twinkle in our eyes
He is our hero, coach, friend and angel.
He is our father.
