Lucille Stockton

COOKEVILLE — Graveside services for Lucille Stockton, 91, of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, Sept. 7, at 4 p.m. at Crest Lawn cemetery.

Family will receive friends Sunday from noon until 3:45 p.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleson and Horner Funeral Home.

Miss Stockton died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, in NHC Healthcare of Cookeville, passing on to her next assignment, hemming the robes of angels.

She was born April 15, 1917.

A life-long Putnam County resident, Miss Stockton was a retiree of Wilson’s Sporting Good and at the age of 91 was still doing alterations. She was an avid gardener, quilt maker, seamstress, cook and caregiver to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by family, friends, neighbors and all who were lucky enough to have been in her care.

Her family includes her only brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Geraldine Stockton of Michigan; two nephews, Gary Stockton and wife Jan, and Alan Stockton, both of Michigan; a niece, Teresa Tillman and husband Richard of Michigan; a grand-nephew, Dan Stockton and wife Vickie of Michigan; a great-grand-niece, Brooklynn Stockton of Michigan; and many local extended family members.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Rev. Jim Rogers will officiate the services.

Anna Jean Phillips

MONTEREY -- Funeral services for Anna Jean Phillips, 72, of Monterey, will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 21, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mineral Springs Free Will Baptist cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. today, Sunday, July 20, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Phillips died Friday, July 18, 2008, in Oak Ridge Methodist Medical Center.

She was born March 18, 1936, in Overton County to the late Fletcher and Biddie Looper.

Mrs. Phillips was owner of Phillips Grocery in the Mineral Springs Community. She and her husband also operated Joseph's Store House for low income families.

Her family includes her husband, Everett Phillips of Monterey; a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Melissa Phillips of Clarkrange; a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Clifton Bishop of Monterey; three brothers, A.J. Looper of Rickman, Sam and Stanley Looper, both of Monterey; three sisters, Ferbia Phillips of Monterey, Ella Flener of Anderson, Ind. and Clarice McNeal of Crossville; three grandsons, Dustin Phillips and Chase and Connor Bishop; a granddaughter, Danielle Melton; and a great-grandson, Mason Phillips.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bertha Key; and a brother, Arthur Looper.

Revs. Mike Kirby and Basis and Brenda Phillips will officiate at the services.

Thomas A. Byrge

COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Thomas A. Byrge, 53, of Cookeville, will be held at 2 p.m. today,

Sunday, July 20, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home-Cremation Center. Burial, will full military honors by the Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until noon today, at the funeral home.

Mr. Byrge died Friday, July 18, 2008, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

He was born July 25, 1954, in Crossville to Mackinley Byrge of Crossville and the late Geraldine Byrge.

He served in the Marines, receiving the Good Conduct Medal and Weapons Award. Mr. Byrge worked as a technician at Five Star Food Service for 25 years before retiring. He was a loving father, "Poppy," son and brother.

In addition to his father, his family includes his stepmother, Gail Byrge of Crossville; his ex-wife, Lois Faye Byrge of Anderson, Ind.; two daughters, Destiny Manda Byrge of Cookeville and Amy Raine Byrge and fiancé Bobby Odell Hughes of Algood; a sister, Fran Cottrell of Cookeville; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Marcia Byrge of Cookeville, David and Janice Byrge of Kentucky and James and Barbara Byrge of Michigan; four grandsons, Ashton ChaseByrge and Landon Blake Byrge and Tanner K. Boles, all of Algood and Ian Tucker Byrge of Cookeville; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Byrge.

Memorial donations may be made to assist the family with the services.

Bro. Clayton Lee and Tommy Phillips will officiate at the services.

Sue Carol Tisdal

COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Sue Carol Gilliam Tisdal, 68, of Cookeville, will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 21, from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Homes and Cremation Services. Entombment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today, Sunday, July 20; and from 11 a.m. until time of services on Monday, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Tisdal died Saturday, July 19, 2008, at her home.

She was born Aug. 21, 1939, in Wise County, Va. to the late Kedrick Darrel and Thelma Vocie Potter Gilliam.

Mrs. Tisdal attended Stevens Street Baptist Church. Along with her late husband, James Tisdal (who died Sept. 29, 2007), they owned and operated Tis' Barbecue in Cookeville for a number of years.

Her family includes a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Natalie Tisdal of Cookeville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jamie and Darrell Tucker of Gainesboro and Karen and Pat Hensley of Shreveport, La.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Bob Brown of Livingston and Sandra and Ron Puschnig of Monroe; 11 grandchildren, Chad Perkins, Wesley and Clayton Randall, Cassie Bradshaw and husband Jeff, Amber Strong and husband Nathan, Mandi and Johanna Hensley, Maleia Tucker, Brittany, Brooke and Bailey Tisdal; and two great-grandchildren, Zackery Randall and Ryleigh Perkins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Gerber.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Memorial donations may be made to Highland Rim Academy by contacting the funeral home.

Dr. Jimmy Arms will officiate at the services.

Bethel Leonard Selby

SPARTA -- Funeral services for Bethel Leonard Selby, 65, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, at Thurman Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. today, Monday, July 21, at the funeral home.

Mr. Sleby died Saturday, July 19, 2008, at his home.

Billy Clinton

COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Billy Clinton, 54, of Cookeville, were held today, Monday, Sept. 8, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Cookeville Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Burris cemetery in Jackson County.

Mr. Clinton died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008.

Cookeville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Harold Qualls

CROSSVILLE -- Funeral services for Harold Qualls, 83, of Crossville, were held today, Monday, Sept. 8, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home.

Burial was in Green Acres Memorial Gardens in Crossville.

Mr. Qualls died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at his residence.

Goff Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Richard Robert Sarr

OHIO -- A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard Robert Sarr, 78, of Norwalk, Ohio, was held today, Monday, Sept. 8, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in Norwalk.

Burial was in St. Paul cemetery.

Mr. Sarr died Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born July 27, 1930, in Tiffin, Ohio, to the late Mabel Kessler and Lyle K. Sarr.

Mr. Sarr lived in Tiffin most of his life. He retired from Norwalk Furniture Corp. in 1995 after 47 years of service, working in the Cookeville plant for 13 of those years. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. Mr. Sarr served in the Navy aboard the LST 521 from 1948- 1952 during the Korean War. He was a member and past commander of Firelands Post 2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a member of Ken Bur Bell Post 41 of American Legion, both of Norwalk. He enjoyed golfing with family and friends and working in his yard and garden. He coached Teener League baseball in Norwalk and was a past president and coach of Little League baseball in Tennessee.

His family includes his wife of 54 years, Margaret Ann Ott Sarr of Norwalk; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael and Deborah Sarr and Kenneth Sarr, all of Cookeville, and James and Lisa Sarr of Chapel Hill; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carolyn and Richard Howell of Cookeville and Connie Bogard of Tifton, Ga.; 13 grandchildren, Michael Jr., Stephen, Ryan, Molly, Sterling, Timothy and Meghan Sarr, Ricky and Cara Howell III and Joshua, Travis, Alicia and Calvin Bogard; a great granddaughter, Hailey Bogard; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Donna and Ted Ramien of Norwalk and Barbara Bogard and Phyllis Miles, both of Punta Gorda, Fla,; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Sarr was preceded in death by his stepmother, Zelpha Sarr, and two brothers, Lyle (Sonny) Sarr and George Dragomer.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church, Faithful Stewards of Tomorrow or to Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.

Rev. David Cirata officiated the services.
