SPARTA -- Funeral services for Dimple Ileen Clouse Pistole, 71, will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6, at Thurman Funeral Home. Interment icon will follow in Saylors cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, at the funeral home.

Ms. Pistole died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, in Ashtabula County Medical Center in Ashtabula, Ohio.

Ernestine May Smith
JACKSON COUNTY -- Funeral services for Ernestine May Smith, 75, of Hilham, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, at Jackson County Funeral Home. Burial will follow in New Hope Community Church cemetery in Jackson County. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 18, and from 1 p.m. until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. Smith passed away peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at her home.

She was born May 22, 1934, in Anmore, W.Va., to the late Ernest D and Daisy I. Green Collins. Mrs. Smith was a member of New Hope Community Church in Jackson County. She was a homemaker, devoted wife and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Her family includes three daughters and son-in-law, Wanda B. and Tim Winburne of Laveen, Ariz., Idona A. and Roy Bayless of Hilham and Saundra M. and Randy Nicks of Ebenezer, S.C.; a son, Richard D. Smith of Strawberry, Ariz.; a stepson and his wife, Gary D. and Robin Reddin of Phoenix, Ariz.; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Boyd Collins of Vacaville, Calif., James Collins of Sun City, Ariz., and Ricky and Becky Collins and Randy and Donna Collins, all of Kingman, Ariz.; her stepmother, Annabelle Gilcrease of Cholide, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Herman D. Smith (whom she married Aug. 8, 1953, and who died Oct. 16, 1998), and her twin brother, Ernest Ray Collins. Memorial donations may be made to New Hope Community Church. Pastors Mike Ayers and Phillip Morgan will officiate at the services.

Aminta Delgado
FLORIDA -- Graveside services for Aminta Delgado, 95, of Cookeville, will be held at 10 a.m. EST, at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn cemetery in Miami, Fla. The family will receive friends following the services in Miami. Ms. Delgado died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at her home in Cookeville. Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home in Cookeville is in charge of arraignments.

Sandra Lynne McInturff
SPARTA -- Funeral services for Sandra Lynne McInturff, 68, of Texas, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, at Mt. Pisgah Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

Ms. McInturff died Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, in Midlothian, Texas.

Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta is in charge of arrangements.

Whitley Odell Sliger
COOKEVILLE -- Graveside services for Whitley Odell Sliger, 84, of Cookeville, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at Stewart cemetery.

Mr. Sliger died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009.

He was born May 31, 1925, in Putnam County to the late Thomas Clyde and Rose Stamps Sliger.

Mr. Sliger served in the 4th Marine Division during World War II, in the South Pacific. He fought in the Battles of Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands, Saipan, Tinian, Mariana Islands, Iwo Jima and Volcano Islands.

Mr. Sliger was a member of Cane Creek Baptist Church in Putnam County where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. He was retired from Walmart where he worked as the sporting goods manager.

His family includes his wife of 59 years, Jewel Choate Sliger of Cookeville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Bruce and Arlene Sliger of Atlanta, Ga., and Dr. Van O. and Marta Sliger of Cookeville; a daughter, Rosa Ann Sliger of Cookeville; six grandchildren, Justin Kindrick, Chase Sliger and wife Gigi and Chad, Haley, Matthew and John Sliger; and brothers and sisters Cecil Sliger and Louise Bockman, both of California, Lester and Jerry Sliger and Julia Alexander.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Vestal Sliger, and two sisters, Hazel Brewington and Mary Ila Murphy.

Dr. Randall Adkisson will officiate at the services.

Kathy Norrod
MONTEREY -- Funeral services for Kathy Norrod, 44, of Monterey, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Interment icon will follow in George M. Phillips cemetery in Hanging Limb.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today, Friday, Sept. 4, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Norrod died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 29, 1964, in Monterey to Allen Cravens of Twinton and the late Lela Norris Cravens.

Mrs. Norrod was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her father, her family includes her husband, David Norrod of Monterey; a sister and brother-in-law, Pat and David Dunn of Monterey; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Elizabeth Cravens of Chesterfield, Ind.; and her mother-in-law, Phyllis Norrod of Hanging Limb.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Kay Abston.

Memorial donations may be made to the family.

Rev. Tony Barnett will officiate at the services.

Hackie Newman
COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Hackie Newman, 78, of Cookeville, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Salem cemetery.

Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. today, Friday, Sept. 4, at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends from 1-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Newman died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

He was born April 16, 1931, in Cookeville to the late William Haskell and Minnie Bell Lewis Newman.

Mr. Newman worked for the State of Tennessee Department of Revenue. He was a member of the Jaycees, Woodmen of the World Club, a 53-year member of Al Menah, a 32nd Degree Mason and an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He was a member of Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ.

His family includes his wife, Betty Sue Newman of Cookeville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jayne and Richard Barns Jr. of Cookeville and Angela and Danny Trisdale of Hermitage; a sister, Elizabeth Newman Burris of Maryville; six grandchildren and spouses, Chris and Kim Duff Barns, Jason Barns, Jeff and Robin Morgan, Jennifer Morgan, Jody Trisdale and Nathan Thompson; and a great-grandchild, Laci Nicole Morgan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Odell Newman, and a sister, Kathleen Elrod.

Pallbearers will be Richard Jr., Chris and Jason Barns, Jeff Morgan, Jodie Trisdale, Phillip and Bobby Newman, Lawrence Edward Brown and Nathan Thompson.

Memorial donations can be made to Salem cemetery Fund.

Bro. Charles Williamson will officiate at the services.

Harry Leonard
COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Harry Leonard, 81, of Cookeville, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6, at Cookeville First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery in Franklin, Ky.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and from 1 p.m. until time of services on Sunday at the church.

Mr. Leonard died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at his home.

COOKEVILLE -- Memorial services for Gregory Allen Bartlett, 50, of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m. at Cookeville Baptist Temple. Family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 15, from 1 p.m. until time of services at the church. Mr. Bartlett died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2009, at his residence. Rosa Mae Harris
COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Rosa Mae Harris, 60, of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday, Dec. 16, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Judd cemetery in the Holladay Community. Family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 15, from 5-9 p.m. at the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Mrs. Harris died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009.

She was born Jan. 19, 1949, in Sparta to the late Roxie W. Writtenberry. Mrs. Harris worked for First Tennessee Bank as a teller 3 and was of the Baptist faith. Her family includes her husband, Robert G. Harris; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Shawn and Heather Harris of Monterey and Ron and Casie Harris and Donald Lowe, all of Cookeville; and four grandchildren, Matthew, Hollie and Zackari Harris and Dominic Wallace.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Stewart, and a brother, Billy Henry. Rev. Jerry Buckner will officiate the services.

Oscar Thurrel Chaffin
GAINESBORO -- Funeral services for Oscar Thurrel Chaffin, 80, of Searcy, Ark., formerly of Jackson County, will be held Wednesday, Dec. 16, at 1 p.m. at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crest Lawn Memorial cemetery. Family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 15, from 3-9 p.m. and Wednesday, Dec. 16, from 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Mr. Chaffin died Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at White County Medical Center in Searcy.

He was born Jan. 8, 1929, in Cookeville to the late Dottie L. and Lois Smith Chaffin. Mr. Chaffin was a retired trades leader for General Motors. He was a member of the Church of Christ and served in the Army during the Korean War. His family includes three sons and daughters-in-law, Clifford and Debbie Chaffin of Cookeville, Mark and Ann Chaffin of Shelby Township, Mich., and Barry and Mary Chaffin of Searcy; two stepsons and a daughter-in-law, Michael H. and Dot Smith and Tim Smith, all of Cookeville; two stepdaghters and a son-in-law, Anita and Ben Underwood of Bloomington Springs and Tammy Mayberry of Lebanon; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Marion and Wanda Chaffin, Arlon and Bobbie Chaffin and Lewis and Carolyn Chaffin, all of Cookeville; a sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Trellis Ferrell of Georgia; seven grandchildren, Gordon, Neil, Rebecca, Zachary, Rachel, Emily and James Chaffin; 14 step-grandchildren; and 16 step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Chaffin was preceded in death by his first wife, Dottie L. Chaffin; his second wife, Lois Smith Chaffin; three brothers, Cecil, Theo and Kenneth Chaffin; two sisters, Elsie Durham and Elizabeth Thompson; and a stepson, Dan Smith. Bro. Dennis Swindle will officiate the services.

COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Donald (Harry) Harry, 74, of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday, Dec. 16, at 10 a.m. from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Burial will be in Zion cemetery in Jackson County. Family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 15, from 5-8 p.m. and Wednesday, Dec. 16, from 9 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
