Tennessee, U.S., Delayed Birth Records, 1869-1909
Lynn Kathryn Caldwell
Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at Charlotte Fagan’s United Methodist Church for Lynn Kathryn Caldwell, 75, of Charlotte. Brothers Robert Cullom and Duane Cowan officiated. Burial followed at Charlotte cemetery.
Mrs. Caldwell died Monday, May 27, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. Arrangements were under the auspices of Spann Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband, Sylvester Caldwell, Charlotte; daughters, Charlene Russell, Charlotte, Rennie Herd, White House, Jennie Lou Williams, Corinth, Miss.; sisters, Joyce Miller and Sara Margaret Corlew, Charlotte; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Mrs. Caldwell was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Verla and Buddy Kimbro, and her father, Robey Story.

Mattie Jones Parker
Funeral services are 2 p.m. today, Friday, May 31, 2002, at the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson for Mattie Jones Parker, 76, of Charlotte. Brother Bill Shouse will officiate, followed by burial at Mt. Olive cemetery.
Mrs. Parker died Tuesday, May 28, at her home in Charlotte. A native of Dickson County, she was the daughter of the late Carroll and Nellie Sutton Jones. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include sisters, Ruby Travis Springer of Charlotte and Creola Swaw of Sylvia; brother, Emmett Jones of Dickson; several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her husband, Hal Parker.

Emma Lee Lyle Stiles
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2002, from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson for Emma Lee Lyle Stiles, 71, who died Tuesday, May 28, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. Brother Gynnth Ford officiated, followed by burial in Cumberland Furnace cemetery.
A native of Dickson County, Mrs. Stiles was the daughter of the late Walter Alvin and Etta Inez Gafford Lyle. She was a homemaker and a machine operator with the Henry I. Siegel Garment Factory. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include sons, William “Jocko” Lyle and John Stiles, both of White Bluff and Tracy Stiles of Dickson; daughters, Dorothy Jean Sullens and Patty Givens, both of Dickson; one sister, Hazel E. Brown, Clarksville; 11 grandchildren,13 great-grandchildren.

Sammie Neal Vineyard
Funeral service for Sammie Neal Vineyard, 82, of Dickson, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002, at Dickson Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Weems cemetery.
Mr. Vineyard died Wednesday, May 29, at Alive Hospice in Nashville.
A retired factory worker for Schrader Company, he was born in Dickson County, the son of the late Samuel T. Vineyard and Callie Weems Vineyard. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Magdalene Vineyard, Dickson; son, Delmer and wife Joan Vineyard, Dickson; daughter, Beverly and husband Jerry Pounds, Burns; brother, Hugh Vineyard, Dickson; sisters, Claytie White, Franklin, Tenn., Christine Bateman, Tipp City, Ohio, Ruth Barnes, Dickson; grandchildren, Michael Yates, Jeffrey Yates, Mary Ellen Ferebee, all Dickson, Lori DeMoss, Hendersonville; great-grandchildren, Parker and Natalie Yates, Dickson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Clint, Joe and Roy Lee Vineyard and sister Lucy McNulty.

Jewel Adeline Finch Cox
Funeral service for Jewel Adeline Finch Cox, 72, was held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2002, from the chapel of Taylor Funeral home in Dickson with David Deavera officiating. Interment icon was at Dickson County Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Cox died Wednesday, May 22, at her home in Dickson.
A native of Houston County, she was the daughter of the late George L. and Betty G. Fowler Finch. She was a retired seamstress with Osh-Kosh garment factory in McEwen, Tenn. She was a member of the Erin Church of Christ.
Survivors are her son, James Cox, Dickson; daughter, Sandra Green, Dickson; brother, Douglas Finch, Erin; sister, Georgia Edlin, Clarksville; four grandchildren and one great grandson.

Walter Herbert Fisher
Memorial service for Walter Herbert Fisher, 89, of Danville, Ky., and formerly of Columbia, Tenn., was at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2002, at Smith Funeral Home in Danville.
Mr. Fisher died Wednesday, May 22, at his residence.
Born in Nashville, he was the son of the late Walter Hoffman and Marie Knight Fisher.
Mr. Fisher was a member of the Berea Church of Christ in Columbia. He played first base for the Nashville Vols Minor League baseball team in the 30s. He owned one of the first gas stations in Nashville, worked for the Nashville fire department, worked at the Tennessee state prison at Nashville and for Krispy Kreme doughnuts. He was treasurer and former co-owner of Fisher Electric Supply in Columbia. He was a World War II Navy war veteran and served in the South Pacific as a signal man for the invasions of the islands of Okinawa, Saipan, Iwo Jima and Tinian.
He was the widower of Mable Eldridge Fisher. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Fisher Bryant and her husband Bobby, Danville; sister, Jeanne Rudolph, Nashville; granddaughter, Tamra B. Blackwell and her husband Ronnie Jr., Perryville, Ky.; grandson, Robert M. Bryant and his wife Carol, Madisonville, Ky.; great-grandchildren, Ami and Kesie Coffey, Madisonville, Ashley, Chad, Christian, Cobey Blackwell, Perryville.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Edward Fisher, Nashville.

Charlotte Marie Williams Gibson
Funeral service for Charlotte Marie Williams Gibson, 51, was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2002, from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson with Brother Thurman Harris officiating. Interment icon was at Wilkins cemetery in Only, Tenn.
Ms. Gibson died Thursday, May 23, at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.
She was a native of Ridgely, Tenn. She was a homemaker and a member of the Protestant faith.
Survivors are her husband, Mark Gibson, Nashville; son, Ira Dell Williams, Arizona; mother, Louvernia Harris Penuel, Lewisburg, Ky.; sisters, Patsy Davis, Nashville, Freda Mathina, Ridgely; Shirley Culbert, Ferryville, Wis.; brother, Carl Tucker, Dickson; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her birth parents, Carmack and Mettie Cude Tucker, and two sisters, Margaret Hilliard and Nancy Baker.

James A. Irwin
Funeral service for James A. “Tony” Irwin, 86, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2002, from the funeral home of Phillips-Robinson Co., 2707 Gallatin Road, Nashville, with Rev. Arthur Williams officiating. Visitation with the family is today, Wednesday, at the funeral home from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Interment icon will be at 3:30 Thursday at the Irwin Family cemetery in Hickman County.
Mr. Irwin died Tuesday, May 28.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Lee Irwin; daughters, Mary Virginia (Ted) Ridings, Judith Mae Irwin; son, Robert Alban Irwin; brothers, Wallace Irwin, Harry Irwin; grandchildren, Jeff, Mike and David Ridings and Christy Ryan; nine great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Lowry McCaul
Funeral service for Dorothy Lowry McCaul, 95, was held at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2002, from the graveside at Dickson Union cemetery with Rev. Roy West officiating. Interment icon was at Dickson Union cemetery.
Miss McCaul died Thursday, May 23, at National Health Care Center.
A native of Dickson County, she was the daughter of the late Lewie A. and Dell Lowry McCaul. She was a retired librarian with the Dickson County School System. She was a long-time member of the Methodist Church, where she taught the Cora Williams Bible Class and served as the church librarian for a number of years.
There are no immediate survivors.

Edna Hazel O’Guin
Funeral service for Edna Hazel O’Guin, 72, of Centerville, will be at 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, May 29, 2002, from McDonald Funeral Home in Centerville with Gerald McCann officiating. Interment icon will be at the O’Guin cemetery in Hohenwald, Tenn.
Mrs. O’Guin, a homemaker, died Tuesday, May 28, at Baptist Hickman Hospital in Centerville.
She was the daughter of the late John H. Daniel and Willie Baker and a member of Aetna Church of Christ.
Survivors’ names were unavailable.

John Thomas Pewitt
Funeral service for John Thomas “Bro” Pewitt, 67, of Bon Aqua, was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2002, from the Fairview Chapel of Dickson Funeral Home with Brother Ray Boyd officiating. Interment icon was at Harpeth Hills cemetery.
Mr. Pewitt died Saturday, May 25, at his home.
He was the son of the late Aaron Pewitt and Mary Roberts Pewitt, and was a retired Metro Public Works employee.
Survivors are his wife, Vicky Pewitt, Bon Aqua; sons, Thomas Pewitt, Dickson, William Stanley Pewitt, Lyles; daughters, Sharon Darlene Weaver, Fairview, Carol Elgine Luffman, Fairview, Cynthia Regina Ivy, Fairview, Mary Colene Pewitt, Bon Aqua; brothers, William Pewitt, Lyles, James H. Pewitt, Bon Aqua, Paul Pewitt, Charlotte, Vernon Pewitt, Lyles; sisters, Mary Warden, Dickson, Roby Thomas, Dickson, Lucille Pewitt, Lyles, Diane Parham, Nunnelly, Tenn.; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
