Sylvester Van Springer
Funeral service for Rev. Sylvester Van Springer, 86, was Thursday, June 19, 2003 at 11a.m. from the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson, Tenn.
Pastor Breonus Mitchell officiated. Interment icon followed in Dickson Memorial Gardens. The service was under the direction of Taylor Funeral Home.
Rev. Springer died Sunday, June 15 in Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. His parents, Dan and Lina Holt Springer, a daughter, Willie B. Whitlow, and two brothers, Lester B. Springer and Albert D. Springer, preceded him in death. He served as a Deacon of Worley Baptist Church, and later served as Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Dickson, St. John Baptist Church in Nashville, and Boyce Street Baptist Church in Nashville. After retirement, he became a member of Greater Grace Temple Community Church, where he was named vice president. He retired from the State of Tennessee Andrew Jackson Building and the National Life Building after 20 years of service.
Survivors are: his wife, Lillie Irene Springer; his grandchildren: Alric (Amanda) Springer, Katherine Whitlow, William T. Whitlow (Shante), Nanette Whitlow, Yolanda (Jeffrey) Whitlow, Ricky (Judith) Whitlow, Kermit (Shirley) “Bam Bam” Whitlow, Timmy Clardy; stepdaughter, Johnette Clardy; siblings, Mildred (Virgil) Pendergrass and Laura Springer; Daniel (Lettie) Springer, Robert (Ruby) Springer, Rosetta (Robert) Patterson, Haywood (Paulette) Springer, Raymond (Lora) Springer, Callie Griffin, Wilma (Rev. Don) Overton, Johnny (Dora) Springer, Susie Abel, Tommy Springer; sisters-in-law, Ethel Ann (Clarence) Turner, Flossie Sweat, Barbara (Springer) Stephens; brother-in-law, Isreal Eli Jackson (Willene); uncle, Pompie Horner; aunt, Corrine Walton; 21 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and devoted friends Tom Hudak and Victor Wilderson.

Alline Taylor
Funeral services for Mrs. Alline Taylor, 51, of Lyles, Tenn., were 3 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2003 at McDonald Funeral Home in Centerville, Tenn. Burial followed in Hilltop cemetery in Lyles.
A native of Newport, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Robert Derry and Lola Finchum. She was a school bus driver in the transportation department of the Hickman County Board of Education.
Survivors include husband, Danny Taylor of Lyles; son, Tony Taylor of Lyles; daughter, Sonya Harper of Lyles; stepmother, Alice Derry of Centerville, Tenn.; brothers, Y.J. Derry of Charlotte, Tenn., Charles Derry of Charlotte, Ernest Derry of Ashland City, Tenn.; sisters, Marilyn Salters of Dickson, Tenn., Janice Burton of Dickson, Frances Wampler of Brunswick, Ohio; three stepbrothers; a stepsister; and a grandchild, Jeffery Harper.

Martha Lee Waterman
Funeral services for Martha Lee Waterman, 58, are 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at the White Bluff Chapel of Dickson Funeral Home. Brother George Wallace will officiate. Burial will follow in Cumberland Furnace cemetery.
Ms. Waterman died Sunday, June 15, 2003 at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. A native of Natchez, Miss., she was a housewife.
Survivors include sons, Hollis Waterman and his wife, Dawn, of Nashville, Earnest Waterman and his wife, Brenda, of Cumberland Furnace, Tenn.; daughters, Virginia Lee Waterman of Natchez, Miss., Loretta Harper and her husband, Ronnie, of Denin Springs, La.; foster daughter, Carol Moore and her husband, Robby, of Natchez, Miss.; brother, Jesse James Short of Natchez, Miss.; sisters, Earline Short, Susan Short, both of Natchez; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Rickey Dean Foriest
Funeral services for Mr. Rickey Dean Foriest, 42, of White Bluff, Tenn., were 2 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2003 at Dickson Funeral Home. Burial followed in Williams cemetery.
Mr. Foriest died Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. A native of Dickson County, he was the son of Annie Francis Foriest of White Bluff, and the late Leon Foriest. A brother, David Foriest, and two sisters, Aline Cunningham and Jeffery Foriest, preceded him in death. He was a self-employed timber cutter.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by stepfather, Vernon Eppes of White Bluff; brothers, Ronnie Foriest and James Foriest, both of White Bluff; sisters, Georgia Hafner of Burns, Tenn., Elaine Paul of Dickson, and Jewel Walton of Charlotte, Tenn.

Mary Louise Giles
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Louise Giles, 81, of Clarksville, Tenn., are 10 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2003 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home in Clarksville, Tenn. Dr. Roger Freeman will officiate. Burial will follow in the Greenwood cemetery.
Mrs. Giles died Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. A native of Cumberland Furnace, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Art Bishop and Fannie Jones Bishop. Her husband, Marshal Giles, preceded her in death. She was a retired employee of Acme Boot.
Survivors include sisters, Maggie Mathis of Cumberland Furnace, Tenn., Catherine Dale of Clarksville, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

George Marvin Hall
Funeral services for Mr. George Marvin Hall, 59, were 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2003 at Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson. Reverend Roy West and Dr. Carter Gilmore officiated and Jerry Smith delivered the eulogy. Private burial followed in Robertson County Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Hall died Monday, July 7, 2003 at National Health Care in Dickson. A native of Springfield, Tenn., he was the son of Katherine Williams Hall and the late James L. Hall. He was known as the mayor of National Health Care Center and goodwill ambassador. He was an avid fan of the University of Tennessee and a lover of country music. He was a Methodist.
Survivors include mother, Katherine Williams Hall of Dickson; sister, Betty Hall Struzick of Birmingham, Ala.; niece, Katherine Blair, also of Birmingham, Ala.
Those desiring, memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children.

Cecil Nicks
Funeral services for Mr. Cecil Nicks, 91, were 1 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2003 at the Woodlawn Chapel of Roses in Nashville. A.M. Burton and Randall Pardue officiated. Burial followed in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Nicks died Tuesday, July 8, 2003, following a heart attack. He was a retired pipe fitter at Ford Glass Plant.
Survivors include daughter, Linda Nash and her husband, John, of Columbia, Tenn.; grandchildren, Melinda Compton and her husband, Daryl, of Lewisburg, Tenn., Jennifer Kelley of Columbia; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth Ann Sloan
Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Ann “Puffy” Sloan, 66, of White Bluff, Tenn., are 11 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2003 at White Bluff Chapel of Dickson Funeral Home. Brother David Peeler will officiate. Burial follows in Williams cemetery. Woodbine Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Dickson Funeral Home provided the information as a courtesy.
Mrs. Sloan died Tuesday, July 8, 2003.
Survivors include husband, Rod Sloan; daughters, Debbie Tucker, Dorothy Baxter and Cindy Jenkins, and her husband, Todd; son, Anthony Baxter, and his wife, Rainey; sister, Carolyn Parker; brothers, Hardy R. Pack, Charles H. Pack and Billy R. Miles.

Albert Grover Tucker
Funeral services for Mr. Albert Grover Tucker, 87, were 1 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2003 at Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson. Brother Ronnie Smith and Brother Jamie Allen officiated. Burial followed in Greenwood cemetery near Charlotte, Tenn.
Mr. Tucker died Monday, July 7, 2003 at National Health Care in Dickson. He was the son of the late Lee Roy and Meader Ivy Williams Tucker. His wife, Edna Elizabeth Sensing Tucker, also preceded him in death. He was a farmer and also worked at Acme Boot and State Industries. He was a member of the Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include son, John Leslie Tucker and his wife, Angie, of Charlotte; daughters, Lula Mai Mills of Old Hickory, Tenn., Edith Davidson and her husband, Edgar, Sallie Hayes, all of Charlotte; brother, Joe Silas Tucker of Bellevue, Tenn.; sister, Margaret Waynick of Vanleer, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and three-great-great-grandchildren.

Odessa Daniel Erranton
Funeral services for Mrs. Odessa Daniel Erranton, 94, are Friday, Aug. 1, 2003 at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson. Brother Clarence DeLoach and Brother Steve Baggett will officiate. Interment icon follows in Dickson Union cemetery. The service is under the direction of Taylor Funeral Home.
Mrs. Erranton, a resident at Olive Branch Assisted Living Center, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003. A Dickson County native, she was a retired sales clerk with Fussell’s Men and Boys Shop. She was a member of Walnut Street Church of Christ.
Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Val Erranton of Dickson; grandchildren, Rachel Donegan and her husband, Greg, Becky Ragan and her husband, Alan; great-grandchildren, Tyler Donegan, Kayce Donegan, Carrie Ragan and Erran Ragan. She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. “J.C.” Erranton and her parents, Jeff and Addie Hooper Daniel.
Those desiring, memorials may be made to the Walnut Street Church of Christ Mission Fund.

Frederick Schreiber
Funeral services for Mr. Frederick “Jacob” Schreiber, 48, were 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 29 at Luff Bowen Funeral Home in McEwen.
Reverend David Deavors officiated. Burial followed at Meadowlawn cemetery in McEwen, Tenn.
Mr. Schreiber died at his home Saturday, July 26, 2003 in Clarksville, Tenn. He was a teacher and coach at Northeast Middle School in Clarksville, Tenn. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky Jan. 25, 1955.
Survivors include: a son, Bradley Jordan Schreiber; daughter Rachel Elizabeth Schreiber, both of Clarksville, Tenn.; brothers, Leon Edward Schreiber, II of Dickson, Tenn., Thomas Byron Schreiber of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Sharon Adler of Houston, Texas, Susan Schreiber of McEwen, Tenn., and Beth Fritts of Los Angeles, Calif., also several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death his parents Leon Edward and Betty Marie (Burke) Schreiber.

Newton E. Baggett
Funeral services for Bro. Newton E. Baggett are 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003 at Dickson Funeral Home. Visitation is Friday, Nov. 28, 2003 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Dickson Funeral Home. Interment icon is in Dickson County Memorial Gardens. Mr. Baggett, 77, of Bon Aqua, Tenn., died at his home Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003. A native of Houston County, he was a retired minister and served with the U.S. Air Force in 1944.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Baggett of Bon Aqua; sons, Daniel (Karen) Baggett of Lebanon, Tenn., and David (Yvette) Baggett of Burns, Tenn.; brothers, Ira Baggett of Pleasant View, Tenn., and Jack Baggett of Erin, Tenn.; sisters, Myrtle Day of Tennessee Ridge, Minnie Richardson of Erin, Jewel Milan of Erin and Nelline Moore of Tennessee Ridge; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Loretta Davis England
Funeral services for Mrs. Loretta Davis England, 84, were 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003 in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson with Bro. Danny Tidwell officiating. Interment icon followed in Dickson Union cemetery.
Mrs. England, the daughter of the late James Nelson and Ada Bumpus Davis, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003 in Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. A native of Dickson County, she was a retired employee with a local pants and shirt factory. She was a member of the Sycamore United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, Phil England and his wife, Judy, of Dickson; and two grandsons, Scott England and Nathan Todd England, both of Dickson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm “Mack” England, and a son, Clyde Randall England.
