J.T. Martin
Funeral services for Mr. J.T. Martin, 73, are 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004 at Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson. Rev. James Parham will officiate. Burial follows in New Hope cemetery.
Mr. Martin died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004 at the Alvin C. York Medical Center in Murfreesboro. His parents, Alton B. Marton and Nora Martin, preceded him in death.
He was retired from the U.S. Army and had 21 years of experience. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include wife, Veda Mai Potts Martin of Lyles, Tenn.; sons, James R. Martin of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Gary L. Martin of Franklin, Tenn., David M. Martin of Aurora, Colo.; brothers, Lloyd Martin of Portland, Tenn., Frank Martin of Bon Aqua, Tenn.; sisters, Dixie Wooten, Yattie Parker, Della Mangrum, Kathleen Martin, all of Nashville, Fay Martin of Gallatin, Tenn.; and a grandson, Bryson Martin.

Howard Roberts
Funeral services for Mr. Howard Roberts, 69, of Fairview, Tenn., were 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2004 at the Fairview Chapel of Dickson Funeral Home. Brother Jerry Bryant officiated. Burial followed in Roberts Family cemetery in Fairview.
Mr. Roberts died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003 at Southern Hills Hospital in Nashville. A native of Davidson County, he was the son of Mary Elizabeth Roberts of Nashville and the late Leslie Roberts. A son, Howard “Mickey” Houston Roberts and a brother, James “Tissy” Les Roberts, also preceded him in death. He was a retired mechanic.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by sons, Tim Roberts and his wife, Holly, of Nashville, Terry “Fireball” Roberts and his wife, Wendy, of Antioch, Ricky Roberts and his wife, Christy, of Bon Aqua, Tenn.; daughter, Tracy Boone and her husband, Mark, of Fairview; brothers, Harold Roberts of Nashville, Donald Roberts and his wife, Stephanie, of Fayetteville, Tenn.; sisters, Laura Mae McNeil and her husband, Glen, of Fayetteville, Tenn., Elsie Elkthunder and her husband, E.T., of Oklahoma, Ruby Perry and her husband, Carl, of Franklin, Ann Seat and her husband, John, of Ashland City, Tenn., and Sue Kennedy and her husband, Donnie, of Fairview; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Hazel Louise Wurster Russell
Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel Louise Wurster Russell, 68, of Vanleer, were 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2004 at Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson. Brother Artest Waynick officiated. Burial followed in Patterson cemetery in Houston County, Tenn.
Mrs. Russell died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004 at Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, Tenn.
Her parents, Floyd and Myrtle Serline Wurster, preceded her in death. Her husband, Thomas Glenn Russell, also preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas Russell Jr., William Hareld Russell, both of Vanleer, Tenn. and Ernest Wayne Russell of South Pittsburg, Tenn.; daughter, Roseann Rena Brazeau of Vanleer, Tenn.; brothers, Elmer Wurster of Westland, Mich., Albert Dyer of Newman, Ga.; sisters, Vicki Ralph of Westland, Mich., Leverne Sirles of Benton, Ky.; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Euvalah Sullivan
Funeral services for Mrs. Euvalah Sullivan, 89, of Fairview, Tenn., are 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004 at Old New Hope Baptist Church in Fairview. Brother Frank Tennyson and Brother Don Adkinson will officiate. Burial will follow in Pinkerton cemetery.
Mrs. Sullivan died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004 at NHC Health Center in Dickson. A native of Dickson County, she was the daughter of the late Edward Adcock and Palmela Callie Flowers Adcock. Her husband, Reedy Enoch Sullivan, a son, Claude Sullivan, and a daughter, Eudene Sullivan McGlothlin, also preceded her in death. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include son, Edward Sullivan and his wife, Evelyn, of Fairview; daughters, Carolyn Anderson, Gilda Lankford and her husband, Terry, both of Fairview; sister, Jean Bledsoe of Fairview; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Wanda S. Tidwell
Funeral services for Mrs. Wanda S. Tidwell, 55, of Spear Branch Road, Mountain City, Tenn., were 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004 at Henson Funeral Home in Mountain City, Tenn. Mr. Darrell Broking officiated.
Graveside services and burial was 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2004 at Gambill Springs Locust Gap Baptist Church cemetery.
Mrs. Tidwell died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, in the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. She was a native of Dickson County and a daughter of the late Spivie and Mary Emily Bradley Hood. Four brothers, Garret Thomas Hood, William Carl Hood, John Theodore Edward Hood, Billy Wayne Hood, and three sisters, Margie Marie Hood, Willie B. Worley and Emma Loucille Moss.
She was a graduate of Dickson High School and received her practical nurse license from the Tennessee Vocation School in Dickson. She was a former nurse at Goodlark Hospital in Dickson, and a dispatcher for 911 in Mountain City. She was a Sunday School teacher and a member of Mountain City Church of Christ.
Survivors include husband, Ernest C. Tidwell; son, Jason P. Tidwell and his wife, Leslie Ann, of Mountain City; sisters, Mary Allene Hyndman, Eunice Ann Lovell, Betty Jane Massie, all of Dickson.

Melvin Wayne Wesson
Graveside services for Mr. Melvin Wayne Wesson, 57, are 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004 at Middle Tennessee Veterans’ cemetery. James Tally will officiate. West Harpeth Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Mr. Wesson died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003. His father, Columbus Melvin Wesson, preceded him in death. He spent 12 years in the U.S. Marine Corps., and retired from TVA in 1971 after 27 years of service.
Survivors include wife, Patsy Wesson; sons, Gregory Wayne Wesson and his wife, Jeannie, Ashley David Wesson; daughter, Christy Amanda Taylor and her husband, Charles; mother, Annie Belle Wesson; sister, Linda Mason; brother, Steven Wesson; grandchildren, Caleb Wesson, Cheyenne Wesson, Patrick Wesson, Collin Wesson and Reagan Taylor.

Diza Christine Griffin Day
Funeral services for Mrs. Diza Christine Griffin Day, 84, of Charlotte, Tenn., were 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004 at Dickson Funeral Home, with Dr. Jim Chatham officiating. Interment icon followed in Union cemetery.
Mrs. Day died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003 at Horizon Medical Center. A native of Hickman County, she was a retired nurse and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stewart T. and Gertrude Stinson Griffin, husband, Andrew Day, and a son, Andrew Day II.
Survivors include a daughter, Trudy Day of Oakland, Calif.; and a grandson, Paul Michael Sullivan of Oakland, Calif.

Georgia LaRue McGee
Mrs. Georgia LaRue McGee, 76, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003 in Alive Hospice in Nashville. Her remains will be cremated. No visitation or memorial service is planned. Taylor Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Mrs. McGee was a retired book binder with Book Binder Union in St. Louis.
Survivors include daughters, Patty Sue Smith and her husband, James, of White Bluff, Tenn., Debra Lawrence and her husband, Bill, of Louisiana; brother, Douglas McGee and his wife, Ruth, of Ohio; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Louise Malone McGee.

Tennessee Betty Work
Funeral services for Mrs. Tennessee Betty Work, 95, were 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004 in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson with John D. Lankford officiating. Interment icon was in J.S. Redden cemetery.
Mrs. Work, a native of Hickman County, Tenn., died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003 in Dickson County Nursing Home. She was a retired inspector for the former Henry I. Siegel Company. She attended Piney River Church of Christ. Survivors include son, Kenneth Work of Dickson; daughters, Jeanette Palmer and Bernice Goad, both of Dickson; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Burton Work, and her parents, Jesse James and Florence Donegan Betty.

Betty Eloise Smithson
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Eloise Smithson, 71, are 11 a.m. Friday, April 2, 2004 at McDonald Funeral Home in Centerville with Bill McDonald officiating. Interment icon follows at Jenkins cemetery in McEwen.
Mrs. Smithson, of Nashville, was born Jan. 14, 1933, in Only. She died March 31, 2004 at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. She was the daughter of the late C. M. Owens and Louva Blunkall Owens.
Survivors include her husband, Leonard Smithson of Nashville; daughters, Dale Springer and Sylvia Dickens, both of Centerville; son, Paul Flowers of Dickson; brothers, Carl Owens of Arkansas and Bill Owens of Fairview; sister, Patsy Tomlin of Dickson; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Henry N. (H.N.) Williams
Funeral services for Mr. Henry N. (H.N.) Williams, 86 are 1 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2004 at Dickson First United Methodist Church with Rev. Roy West and Rev. Phil Ross officiating. Interment icon follows in Dickson Union cemetery. Services are under the direction of Taylor Funeral Home.
Visitation with the family is 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home on Saturday, April 3.
Mr. Williams, a native of Dickson, died Tuesday, March 30, 2004 in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
He received his bachelor’s degree in social science in 1937 from Middle Tennessee State College, master’s degree in economics in 1938 from University of Tennessee and doctorate in political science in 1951 from University of Chicago, L.L.B. in 1952 from Vanderbilt University and L.L.M. in 1954 from Columbia University.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1946. He was an assistant professor of political science at Vanderbilt University from 1946-1953, an attorney in the Department of Justice and chief counsel of the U.S. Selective Service.
His publications were cited by the U.S. Supreme Court. He rose to the rank of colonel in the Army Reserve. He retired in 2001. He was an attorney for 60 years.
Survivors include two sons, John and his wife, Margaret Williams, and George and his wife, Wanda Williams of California; and four grandchildren, Adam, Carol, Stacy and Alec.
He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVerna Williams, in 1981; and his parents, H.N. and Cora Wynns Williams.

Ramie E. Adams Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Ramie E. Adams Jr., 82, were 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at the chapel of Dickson Funeral Home. Interment icon followed at Union cemetery.
Mr. Adams, of Humboldt, was born Jan. 8, 1922 in Dickson County. He died March 27, 2004 at Humboldt General Hospital in Humboldt. He was a retired Air Force major.
Survivors include his wife, Milbra Nell Adams of Humboldt; son, Gary and wife, Patty Adams of New Johnsonville; daughter, Karla and husband, Dan Miller of Clarksville; step-son, Vance Smith Jr. of White Bluff; step-daughters, Libby and husband, Mike Gill of White Bluff, Carolyn and husband, Bob Lazenby of Dickson and Donna Hightower of Baltimore, Md.; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramie E. and Jimmie Davidson Adams Sr.
