Funeral services for Mr. Vincent O. Beard, 75, were 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson with Chaplain Gene Lovelace of Alive Hospice officiating. Interment
followed in Martin cemetery in Hickman County.
Mr. Beard, a native of Williamson County, died Monday, March 8, 2004 at his home in Kingston Springs. He was a retired truck driver with Metro Public Works. He was a member of Bells Branch Church of Christ.
Survivors include Ladye Smith of Kingston Springs; his sisters, Beulah Beard Ferguson of Springfield, Dollie Beard Moss of Dickson; one son, three daughters and five grandchildren.
James Joseph “Fat Boy” Davis Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. James Joseph “Fat Boy” Davis Jr., 51, were 3 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 2004 at McDonald Funeral Home in Centerville with Bill McDonald and Bert Mathis officiating. Interment
followed in the Nickell cemetery in Centerville.
Mr. Davis, of Centerville, was born in Hohenwald on June 20, 1952. He died on March 7, 2004 at Baptist Hickman Hospital in Centerville. He was self-employed in auto repair at Davis Auto Repair. He was the son of the late James Joseph Davis Sr. and Frances Harville Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Martie Davis of Centerville; daughters, Mendy and Tabby Davis, both of Centerville; brother, J.A. Davis of Hohenwald; sister, Frances Brooks of Cross Bridges, Tenn.; and mother, Frances Davis.
Betty Lou Melton
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Lou Melton, 73, are 10 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2004 at graveside at Union cemetery for family and friends, with Bro. Michael E. Duke officiating. Visitation was Thursday, March 11 from 2-8 p.m. at Dickson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at Dickson Funeral Home on Friday, March 12 from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Mrs. Melton, of Burns, a native of Humphreys County, was born Sept. 11, 1930. She died March 8, 2004 at NHC Health Care Center. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Edward “Ted” Melton of Burns; one son, Glenn Melton of Burns; one daughter, Janice Shelton of Dickson; three brothers, Redick and Bob Fortner of Waverly and Jimmy Fortner of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Frances Burgess of Memphis, and Laurine Grice of Waverly; two grandchildren, Valerie Shelton of Dickson and Zack Shelton and wife, Dana of Dyersburg; great-grandchild, Gage Shelton of Dyersburg.

Virginia Elizabeth Burkett
Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia Elizabeth Burkett, 74, are 1 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2004 at the Chapel of Dickson Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Larkin of Calvary United Pentecostal Church-Charlotte officiating. Visitation is Saturday, March 13, 2004 from 1 to 8 p.m. Interment
will follow in Mt. Olive cemetery on Woods Valley Road.
Mrs. Burkett, of Cumberland Furnace, was born on May 26, 1929 in Tipton County, Tenn. She died on March 6, 2004 at Dickson County Nursing Home. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her two sons, Ronald Burkett of Cumberland Furnace and Dan Burkett of Red Bud, Ill.; one brother, James Armstrong of Sikeston, Mo.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Leon Burkett and her parents, Grover and Lora Glass Armstrong.
William “Claudie” Davidson

Mr. Davidson, a native of Montgomery County, died Friday,, March 5, 2004 at his home in Dickson. He was a retired worker with the county and state of Tennessee highway departments. He was affiliated with the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his four sons, Larry Davidson, Dennis Davidson, Ricky Davidson and Michael Davidson, all of Dickson; two daughters, Patsy Davidson of Dickson and Vickie of Centerville; one brother, James “Jack” Davidson of Waverly; five sisters, Elmer Jones of Waverly, Alene Davidson, Mattie Lee Dickens, Laura Mae Davidson and Eva Davidson, all of Dickson; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Bryant Davidson and his parents, James Richard and Lucy Ann Lewis Davidson.
Lois K. Jones
Funeral services for Mrs. Lois K. Jones, 78, of Martin, Tenn. were 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson with brother Warren Medley officiating. Interment
followed in Edgewood cemetery.
Mrs. Jones, a native of Missouri, died Sunday, March 6, 2004 in Volunteer Community Hospital in Waverly. She was a retired civil service secretary with Scott Air Force Base. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 42 years. The daughter of the late Aaron Nunnery and Vestes Bounds, she was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Nolan Jones of Martin,Tenn.; her daughter, Jeanine Jones Smith, of Martin; her grandson, Leland Clayton Smith of Martin; her sister, Pauline Baker of Columbia, Mo.; two half-sisters, one half-brother; several nieces and nephews.
Delmar Allen “Dale” Mangrum

Mr. Mangrum, a native of Williamson County, died Saturday, March 6, 2004 at his home in Bon Aqua. He was a backhoe operator with Bouchard Plumbing Company. The son of the late Christopher and Mamie Loflin Mangrum, he was a member of Parkers Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Tidwell Mangrum of Bon Aqua; two daughters, Gwen Dillahay of Pleasant View and Brenda Brown of Rochester Hills, Mich.; five brothers, Lewis Aldridge of Bakersville, Calif., Walter Mangrum and Fred Mangrum, both of Nashville, Christopher B. Mangrum of Fairview, and Floyd Mangrum of Hermitage.; two sisters, Frances Hughes of Fairview, and Alice Owik of Rochester Hills, Mich.; eight grandchildren: Brianne Dillahay, Emily Dillahay, Grant Brown, Tara Brown, Katelyn Brown, Maley Brown, Jacob Brown and Lucas Brown.

Hubert Franklin Myatt
Funeral services for Mr. Hubert Franklin Myatt, 85, were 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2004 at the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson with Brother B. Carter Elmore and Brother Lewis Bratton officiating. Interment
followed in Dickson Union cemetery.
Mr. Myatt, the son of the late Winfrey and Nellie Greer Myatt, died Friday, March 5, 2004 in National Health Care Center in Dickson. He was a retired carpenter with TVA. He was a member of American Legion Lucian Berry Post 115, where he served as Commander in 1968 and 1969. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon and was a former Chairman of Deacons. He was a World War II United States Army Veteran. He was known for his love for fox hunting.
Survivors include his son, Ronnie Myatt, and his wife, Alicia Myatt of Nolensville; his two daughters, Patsy Meier, and her husband, Donald E. Meier of El Paso, Texas, Kathy Fuson and her husband, Craig Fuson, of Dickson; sister, Pauline Myatt Kimbro of Dickson; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, Winfrey and Nellie Greer Myatt, by his wife, Lois A. Kimbro Myatt, his daughter, Peggy Reynolds, two brothers, Clinton and Houston Myatt, and a sister, Eugene Myatt Potter.

Catherine Creola Swaw

Mrs. Swaw, a native of Dickson, died Friday, March 5, 2004 in Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. She was a retired Machine Operator at the former Henry I. Spiegel Garment Factory. She was a member of Sylvia Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Billy Swaw of Dickson; two daughters, Betty Swaw and Marie Cunningham Sensing and her husband, William, of Dickson; a brother, Emmett Jones of Dickson; a sister, Ruby Springer of Charlotte; two grandchildren; Dale Sensing and his wife, Wanda of Dickson, and David Sensing and his wife, Brenda of Dickson; four great-grandchildren, Wayne, Jessica, Dewayne and Timothy, all of Dickson; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Tom Cunningham and Vernon Swaw and her parents, James Carroll and Nellie Sutton Jones.
Mary Louise Sutton
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Louise Sutton, 95, were 10 a.m. Tuesday March 9, 2004 at Bethel Baptist Church with Bro. Randy Franklin officiating. Interment
followed at Ebenezer cemetery in the Hutsburg community at 1 p.m. Arrangements were handled by Dickson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sutton, of Dickson, was born Nov. 20, 1908 in Dickson County. She died on Saturday, March 6, 2004 at Dickson County Nursing Home. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter, Harrietta S. and husband, Clay Tidwell of Dickson; brother, Elmer Sager of Erin; sister, Alberta Dailey of Dickson, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Franklin Sutton and her parents, Julius and Lora Bates Sager.
Jose Bermudez
Funeral services for Jose Bermudez, 29, of Dickson will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2004 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson with Brother Calvin Parker officiating. His remains will be taken to Mexico for burial.
Mr. Bermudez, a native of Mexico, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004 in Nashville. He was employed at Mazatlan Mexican Restaurant in Dickson.
Survivors include, his wife, Cindy Hulsey Bermudez of Dickson; sons, Salvador Bermudez of Dickson and Jose Bermudez, Jr.; brothers, Miguel Bermudez, Ricardo Bermudez, Eberto Bermudez, Rojelio Bermudez and Fernondo Bermudez; sisters, Ana Maria Bermudez, Consuelo Bermudez, Midel Carmen Bermudez, Guadalupe Bermudez, Marta Letisia Bermudez and Juanita Bermudez; parents, Salvador Bermudez and Refujia Lopez Cerillo; grandparents, Jesus Lopez and Carmen Carillo and Maria del Anguel.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Miguel Bermudez Covaruvia.
Ethel Odell Lampley
Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Odell Lampley, 71, were at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2004 with Bro. Tommy Luther officiating. Burial followed in Missionary Ridge cemetery. She died Monday, March 1, 2004 at her residence.
Mrs. Lampley was born Aug. 8, 1922 in Hickman County, Tenn. She was a retired restaurant worker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Lampley; and parents, Winfred and Doris Pedergrass Tidwell.
