Norman Clement Cooksey
Funeral services for Norman Clement Cooksey, 81, were 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004 in the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson, Tenn., with Rev. Roy West officiating. Interment icon followed in the Cooksey cemetery in the Yellow Creek community.
Mr. Cooksey, a native of the Yellow Creek community, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, in Commerce, Ga. He was the son of the late George T. and Eleanor Crouch Cooksey. He was a 1942 graduate of Dickson High School.
He attended Peabody College and held a master’s degree in manual arts from Middle Tennessee State University. He was a teacher, principal and coordinator of the Georgia school system for 30 years until his retirement in 1981.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in the Pacific Theater of Operations from 1943 until the end of World War II.
He was a member of the Victory Baptist Church and a member of the Commerce, Ga., Lions Club.
Survivors include two brothers, Haden C. Cooksey of Nashville and Henry L. Cooksey of Dickson; two sisters, Margaret C. West and her husband, Rev. Roy West, of Dickson, and Phoebe C. Swift of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years.

Emily Corine Oakley Corlew
Funeral services for Emily Corine Oakley Corlew, 85, are at noon Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004 at the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson, Tenn. with Rev. Joe Fletcher officiating. Interment icon follows in the Charlotte cemetery.
Mrs. Corlew, a native of Charlotte, Tenn., died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004 in Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. She was a housewife. She was a member of the McGavock Chapel A.M.E. Church where she served as Communion Board Member. She was a former member of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her three sons, Roland Corlew and his wife, Peggy, and Scotty Corlew, all of Dickson, Tenn., David Corlew and his wife, Melissa, of Charlotte, Tenn.; four sisters, Kitty Mae Harding, Ethel House, Peggy Primm, all of Charlotte, Tenn., and Elizabeth Stuart of Detroit, Mich.; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tyree R oland Corlew, and her parents, Edward and Lessie Washington Oakley.

Linda Cathey Hill
Funeral services for Linda Lou Cathey Hill, 64 were 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004 at the White Bluff Church of God of Prophecy with Bro. Gary Riley officiating. Interment icon followed in the Gillin cemetery in White Bluff.
Mrs. Hill, born in Burns, Tenn. to A. D. and Aimee Grace Hall Cathey, Mrs. Hill died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004 in National Health Care Center. She operated Burns Day Care in her home. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in White Bluff.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby Hill of White Bluff, Tenn.; her sons, Keith Hill and his wife, Cathey, Jeff Hill and his wife, Teresa, all of White Bluff, Tenn., Kevin Hill and his wife, Amberly of LaVergne, Tenn.; her daughter, Debbie Hill of White Bluff, Tenn.; mother, Aimee Grace Cathey of Dickson, Tenn.; brothers, Jackie Cathey of McEwen, Tenn. and Danny Cathey of Dickson, Tenn.; sister, Peggy Petty of Dickson, Tenn.; six grandchildren: Jonathan and Chris Hill of White Bluff, Tenn., Bryson, Alexis, Malea and Thad Hill of Lavergne, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her father, A. D. Cathey.

Ricky Lee Jones
Graveside services for infant Ricky Lee Jones were 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004 at Five Point Church of Christ with William Brown officiating.
Jones of Lyles, Tenn., died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004 at Baptist Hospital.
Survivors include his father, Michael Jones of Ashland City, Tenn.; mother, Robbie Sullivan of Lyles, Tenn.; paternal grandparents, Shirley and Tony Rediker of Ashland City, Tenn.; and Theresa Ann Peden of Ashland City, Tenn.; maternal grandparents, James and Linda Tummins of McEwen, Tenn.; and James and Linda Sutton of McEwen, Tenn.; great-grandmother, Euzella Overby of Lyles, Tenn.; and sister, Lacy Sutton of Lyles, Tenn.
Jones was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Ricky Gentry.
Spann Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Lera Myatt Vineyard
Funeral services for Lera Myatt Vineyard, 87, are at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2004 at the Chapel of Spann Funeral Home with Bro. Sam Brown officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, Feb. 20 from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment icon will follow at Dickson County Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Vineyard of Dickson, Tenn., died on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004. She was a member of the Eno Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her son, David Vineyard of Dickson, Tenn.; her brother, Jack Myatt of Fairview, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clint Ray Vineyard; parents, Jodie and Docia Yates Myatt; brother, Elbert Myatt; and two sisters, Alma Bruce and Clatie Luther. Mrs. Vineyard, as well as her parents, brothers and sisters lived to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversaries.

Mary Clarine Garrett
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Clarine Garrett, 59, of White Bluff, were 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004 at the White Bluff Chapel of Dickson Funeral Home with Bros. Reece and Westcott officiating. Burial followed in Williams cemetery.
A native of Davidson County, Mrs. Garrett died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004 in Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Young and Mary Wells Dennison.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Ray Weldon Garrett Sr. of White Bluff; son, Ray W. (Tiffany) Garrett of Big Rapids, Mich; daughters, Tina Marie (Charles) Arnold of Charlotte, Shelia Kaye (James) Vandivort, Wanda Diane (Floyd) Williams, Rhonda Renee Garrett, Juanita Cornelia (Greg) Fisher and Cynthia Faye Garrett, all of White Bluff; her step-father, Oliver Loftis of Ashland City; brother, Bill Golden of Nashville; grandchildren, Jeffery Scott Wells Jr., Charles Allen Arnold Jr., Jessica Nicole Arnold, Staci Louise Williams, John Henry Arnold, Santana Danielle Garrett, James Morgan Vandivort Jr., Brittany Desiree Garrett, Mary Rosanna Hauk, Latisha Marie Arnold, Danielle Clarine Williams, Billy Ray Garrett, Jacob Arnold, Logan Floyd Garrett and Jesse Garrett.

Hugh Malcolm Lee
Funeral services for Mr. Hugh Malcolm Lee, 73, were 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004 in the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson, Tenn. with Rev. Roy West officiating. Interment icon followed in Dickson County Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Lee, a native of Summerville, Ga., died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004 in Horizon Medical Center in Dickson, Tenn. He was former owner of Lee’s Shoe Store in downtown Dickson. He was a member of the American Legion, Downtown Merchant’s Association, the Clan Macleod Society of Tennessee and a Veteran. He was a member of Dickson First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Evelyn Fly Lee of Dickson, Tenn., his son, Scott M. Lee and his wife, Barbara, also of Dickson, Tenn.; his two daughters, Cindy Lee Gilliland and her husband, Foy of Dickson, Tenn., Linda Philpot and her husband, Pat, of Bartlett, Tenn.; seven grandchildren: Chelsea, Seth, Grace, Mary, Elizabeth, Weston and Lindsay.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Malcolm Lee, Sr. and Evelyn Virginia Pullen Lee Robinson.
Those desiring, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or the New Life Foundation.

Robert A. McCauley
Memorial services for Mr. Robert A. McCauley, 68, of White Bluff, are 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004 at White Bluff United Methodist Church with Bros. Horace Perkins and Edward Kephart officiating. Visitation is 10 a.m. until the time of service. Remains will be cremated. Arrangements were made by Dickson Funeral Home.
Mr. McCauley died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004 at his home. A native of Chrome, Penn., he was the son of the late Glen Ferguson and Isabel Chapman McCauley. He attended Oxford High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. He received a degree from Mercer University in Macon, Ga., and was employed by Crawford and Company for 37 years, retiring in 1999.
Survivors include his wife, Jean M. McCauley of White Bluff; sons, Robert A. McCauley Jr. and Timothy Glenn (Madalene) McCauley, all of Macon, Ga.; daughters, Amanda K. McCauley of Alexandria, Va., Eryn Gallagher (Joe) Tierney of Oxford, Penn., and Susan Gallagher (Michael) Cloves of Waynesville, Ga.; sister, Kathryn Iva Buzzard of Dayton, Penn.; grandchildren, Angeline “Angie” McCauley, Christopher Clark, Jennifer Cloves, Christine Cloves, Shannon Cloves, Matthew Cloves, James Tierney and Dennis Tierney.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to White Bluff United Methodist Church, Alive Hospice of Nashville or the American Cancer Society.

Johnny Starr
A gathering to celebrate the life and music of Mr. Johnny Starr will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004 at the Pizza Pub and Picking in Bon Aqua. Williams Funeral Home, in Columbia, Tenn., is charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Starr, 66, of Bon Aqua, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004 at home.
Born in Buckhorn, Pa., he was the son of the late Mathias Knorr and Della Walters and husband of Faith Starr, whom he shared his life and love of music with. He was a contract painter and an entertainer, writing and playing songs with the late Johnny Cash.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Samuel Delius, of Delaware, and Carl Knorr, of Marion, Ill.; four stepchildren; six step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and several brothers and sisters in Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Johnny Starr Fund at First National Bank, P.O. Box 319, Lyles, TN 37098.

Gena Tidwell
Funeral services for Mr. Gena Tidwell, 70, of Dickson, were 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004 in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Craig officiating. Burial followed in New Hope Baptist Church cemetery in Hickman County.
Mr. Tidwell died Feb. 15, 2004 in Dickson County Nursing Home. A native of Hickman County, he was the son of the late Elvin Tidwell and Ida Deadman Tidwell. He was a farmer and a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Thompson Tidwell of Dickson; son, Kerry Tidwell of Cumberland Furnace; daughter, Norma Lowry of Dickson; brothers, J.W. Tidwell and Jack Tidwell, both of Dickson, and Elvis Tidwell of Bon Aqua; sisters, Louise Smashey, Zelmer Tidwell and Elaine Tidwell, all of Bon Aqua, and Hester DiBruno of Waverly; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Jessie Eugene “Pap” Wright
Funeral services for Mr. Jessie Eugene “Pap” Wright, 68, were 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004 in the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson, Tenn. with Bro. Bert Mathis and Bro. Allen Brock officiating. Interment icon followed in the Tidwell-Forrest cemetery in Hickman County, Tenn.
Mr. Wright, a timber cutter and small engine repairman, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004 at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha Tidwell Wright of Lyles, Tenn.; his two daughters, Lori Booker and her husband, Tim, of Centerville, Tenn., Jessica Brunett and her husband, Tony of Burns, Tenn.; two brothers, Jim Wright of Centerville, Tenn., Roosevelt “Nig” Wright of Nunnelly, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Alesha Chilton and her husband, Robert, and Paige Booker, two great-grandchildren; Rachel Chilton and Ben Chilton; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andy R. and Bertha Cude Wright.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
