Lois Evelyn Bush Smithson
Funeral services for Mrs. Lois Evelyn Bush Smithson, 74, were 2 p.m., Thursday, May 6, 2004 from Liberty United Methodist Church near Charlotte with Rev. Horace Perkins officiating. Interment icon followed in Liberty Church cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson.
Mrs. Smithson, a native of Dickson County, died Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson.
She was a retired fabrics department manager for Wal-Mart. She was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin H. Smithson of Dickson; sons, Ronnie M. Smithson of Kingston Springs, Gary E. Smithson of Burns, James P. Smithson and Wesley G. Smithson, both of Dickson, and Tim L. Smithson of Charlotte; brother, Jerold K. Bush of Charlotte; sisters, Glenda Winstead of McEwen, Thelma Burrow and Nancy Larkins, both of Dickson, and Sue Heath of Charlotte; 25 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Donnie R. Smithson; brother, J. D. Bush; and parents, James William and Panthy Lenore Shelton Bush.

Randy Albright Sr.
Funeral services for Mr. Randy Albright, Sr., 48, of Ringgold, Ga., formerly of Dickson, were 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2004 from Heritage Funeral Home in Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga. with Bro. Keith McLeod officiating. Interment icon followed in Lakewood Memory Gardens South.
Mr. Albright, a gospel singer and a former Little League baseball coach, died at his home in Ringgold, Ga., Friday, April 30. He was an active member of Boynton Baptist Church. He was a manager of Bi-Lo.
Survivors include his sons, Randy, “J.R.” Albright of East Ridge, Ga., and Jason Albright of Chattanooga; daughter, Candice Albright of Ringgold, Ga.; grandchild, Jaxon Albright; mother, Lorene Albright of Vanleer; sisters, Judy Brazzell of Dickson and Loretta Turner of Fayetteville, N.C.; brother, Wayne Albright of Dickson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Albright.

Daffo Mae Kent Carpenter
Funeral services for Mrs. Daffo Mae Kent Carpenter, 82, were 2 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2004 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson with Rev. Horace Perkins officiating. Interment icon followed in Dickson Union cemetery.
Mrs. Carpenter died Thursday, April 28, 2004 at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. She was a homemaker and retired employee from the former Henry I. Siegel and Red Kap factories. She was the oldest of 13 children.
Survivors include a son, James Carpenter of Dickson; daughter, Barbara Jean Stephens of Dickson; brothers, Bradley Kent of Washington, Greer Kent and Bobby Kent, both of Knoxville; sisters, Dorothy Gamble of Pontiac, Mich., Joyce Smith of Bellville, Mich., Sue West of Westland, Mich., Imogene Bennett of Knoxville and Doris White of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Howard Bissinger Jr., Charles Edward Bissinger, Sheena Darlene Rhoden, Jeff Bissinger, Doug Bissinger, Charles Carpenter, James Carpenter, Kristi Parish and Kayla Carpenter; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hugo Carpenter Jr.; and her parents, Floyd and Georgia Knight Kent.

Martha Mary Dunnagan
Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Mary “Mickie” Dunnagan, 71, were 2 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2004 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson with Bro. Howard Alexander and Jimmy Noland officiating. Interment icon followed in Dickson Union cemetery.
Mrs. Dunnagan, a retired produce manager with the former Garton’s Grocery, died Friday, April 23, 2004 at Baptist Hospital in Nashville.
Survivors include her son, William Paul Dunnagan and his wife, Debbie, of Dickson; daughters, Priscilla Jane Petty and her husband, Donald Eugene, and Pam Kimbro and her husband, David, all of Dickson, and Brenda Sanders and her husband, Lonnie, of Burns; brothers, George Kostelecky of Mandan, N.D., and Edward Kostelecky of Dickinson, N.D.; sisters, Mildred Dukart of Billings, Mont., and Elise Hage of Dickinson, N.D.; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Paul Dunnagan; parents, Joseph Kostelecky and Christina Pavlish Kostelecky; and brothers, Albert and Charles Kostelecky.

Ray Junior Eads
Funeral services for Mr. Ray Junior Eads, 66, were 2 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2004 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson with Rev. Danny Eads, Rev. Clark Brown and Bro. Scott Pearl officiating. Interment icon followed in Vanleer cemetery.
Mr. Eads, born in Clarksville, died Thursday, April 28, 2004 at his home in Clarksville. He was a maintenance worker at Crieve Hall Church of Christ. He was a member of Sylvia Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Harrison Eads of Vanleer; son, Tim Eads, and his wife, Cheryl, of Vanleer; brothers, Walter Eads and James Eads, both of Clarksville, and Doug Eads of Cunningham; sisters, Cherry Hamilton of Nashville, Betty Eads and Martha Brashear, both of Clarksville, and Becky Lee of Smyrna; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Percy Eads and Ether Turbeville Eads.

Tilda R. Filson
Funeral services for Mrs. Tilda R. Filson, 90, were 2 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2004 from Dickson Funeral Home with Bros. Warren Medley and Terry Bright officiating. Interment icon followed in Dickson County Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Filson, of Dickson, was born Sept. 14, 1913 in Humphreys County. She died April 30, 2004 at Horizon Medical Center. She was a retired printer at Schrader Manufacturing Co.
Survivors include her husband, L.D. Filson of Dickson; stepson, Mike Filson of Clarksville; stepdaughter, Debbie Ashworth of Burns; nieces, Diane McClurkan of Vanleer, Peg Haley of Ashland City and Ann Halverson of California; nephews, James D. White of McEwen and Buddy Griggs Jr. of Athens, Ala.; sister, Mrs. Augusta Griggs of Athens, Ala.; three grandchildren, Gene Bruce Jr. of Denton, Texas, Carla Pearson of Lebanon and Heather Bruce-Cothran of Dickson; and three great-grandchildren, Jodi Pearson and J.T. and Jake Bruce.
She was preceded in death by her son, Harlan Gene Bruce.

William Jerome Newton
Funeral services for Mr. William Jerome “Jerry” Newton, 63, were 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2004 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson.
In addition, out of town services are being held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2004 from Moors-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester with Ken Young and Richard Reed officiating. Interment icon will follow in Memorial Gardens in Winchester.
Arrangements are being handled by Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson and Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester.
Mr. Newton, who was born in Hamilton County, died Sunday, May 2, 2004 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He was a retired truck driver for Warren Brothers. He attended Christ Community Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Collins Newton of McEwen; son, Jerome Newton of McEwen; daughters, Kimberly Dudley and husband, Donnie, and Kristie Dudley and husband, Mike, all of McEwen; mother, Lillian Cowan Newton of McMinnville; sister, Janette Cantrell and husband, Bob, of McMinnville; five grandchildren, Michael Dudley, Kristopher Dudley, Josie Newton, Kara Dudley and Andrew Newton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ingle Shell Newton.

Carneal Rye
Funeral services for Mr. Carneal Rye, 73, were 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel in Shelbyville with Bro. Terry Swaw officiating. Interment icon followed in Willow Mount cemetery.
Mr. Rye, of Shelbyville, was born in Guthrie, Ky. He was the son of the late John Thomas and Elizabeth Stelley Rye. He died Saturday, May 1, 2004 at Bedford County Medical Center. He was a former brick maker and chef. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He attended Victory Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Anna Rye of New Orleans, La.; brothers, John T. Rye of Lavernia, Texas, and William Henry Rye of California; sisters, Clara Johnson of Hendersonville and Elizabeth Swaw of White Bluff; brother-in-law, Curtis Stacey of Shelbyville; and two grandchildren.

Imogene Thomason Sykes
Funeral services for Mrs. Imogene Thomason Sykes, 72, were 3 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2004 from Gum Springs Baptist Church in Cunningham with Bro. Delbert Homal and Bro. Monty Flanagan officiating. Interment icon followed in Parrott-Sykes cemetery in Slayden. Arrangements were handled by Taylor Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sykes, of Slayden, died in Avon Park, Fla., Thursday, April 29, 2004. She was a native of Dickson County. She was a retired employee of Jostens in Clarksville. She was a member of Gum Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Lee Sykes of Slayden; daughters, Gail Manners, Debbie Smith and Carol Ann Davenport, all of Slayden; brothers, J. W. Thomason of Dickson and Gordon Thomason of Slayden; sisters, Eulene Huffman, Ypsilanti, Mich., Rebeca Cathey of Hendersonville and Ruby Sluck of Slayden; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin Harris Thomason and Amanda Warren Thomason.

Lurton Baggett
Funeral services for Mr. Lurton Baggett, 90, were 1 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2004 at Slayden Baptist Church with Bro. Billy Bateman officiating. Interment icon followed in Slayden Baptist Church cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Taylor Funeral Home.
Mr. Baggett, a native of Montgomery County, died Sunday, April 25, 2004 at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. He was a farmer and a sawmill worker. He was a member of Slayden Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sons, Loyde Baggett and his wife, Dorthy, of Slayden and Ernest Gwin Baggett and his wife, Linda, of Big Rock; daughter, Jane Jones and her husband, Johnny, of Cumberland Furnace; daughter-in-law, Esther Cherry Baggett of Slayden; son-in-law, John E. Fletcher of Clarksville; sister, Bessie Pardue of Gallatin; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maydell Groves Baggett; son, Harold Ray Baggett; daughter, Doye Frances Fletcher; granddaughter, Tina Baggett; and parents, Joseph Franklin Baggett and Sally Simmons Baggett.

Donald Joe Cook
Memorial services for Mr. Donald Joe Cook, 56, are 2 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2004 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson. His remains will be cremated.
Mr. Cook, born in San Antonio, Texas, died Tuesday, April 27, 2004 in an accident on Interstate 40 in Nashville.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Gentry Cook of White Bluff; sons, J. Scott Cook and his wife, Becky, of Trenton, Mich., Todd Shannon Cook and his wife, Jennifer, of White Bluff, and Dustin Shawn Cook of White Bluff; daughter, Brittney Dale Cook of White Bluff; brothers, Curtis Lee Cook of Antioch and Stephen Ray Cook of Nashville; four grandchildren, Jacey Cook, Brendan Cook, Brody Cook and Brady Cook.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Robert and Doris Marie Casper Cook.

Linda Rosalie England
Graveside services for Mrs. Linda Rosalie England, 48, were 11 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 2004 at Gorman cemetery in Humphreys County with Bro. Dennis Daniel officiating. Arrangements were handled by Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson.
Mrs. England, a native of Lincoln, Neb., died Thursday, April 22, 2004 at her home in Nashville. She was a machine operator with Red Kap Industries. She was a member of Jehovah’s Witness Church.
Survivors include her parents, Melvin Lee Ellis Brown of Iowa and Rosalie Vivian Lawson Brown of Spokane, Wash.; children, John Little and Amber England of Tacoma, Wash.; brothers, David Lee Brown of Waxahachie, Texas, James Curtis Brown of Clallam Bay, Wash., and Melvin Clarence Brown of Roseburg, Ore.; sisters, Yvonne Bickford of Coldwell, Ohio, Marie Grimm of Rosharon, Texas, and Reva Ruby of Spokane, Wash.; grandchildren, Skyler Anthony Ewings, Arianne Nicole Ewings, Codi Sukovaty and Natasha Sukovaty; special friend, Becky Meade of McEwen; and fiancé’, Arnvifo Irra; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
