James Blair Jr.
Mr. James E. Blair Jr., 47, of Spring Hill passed away July 25, 2004. A private celebration of life will be Saturday, July 31 at his home in Spring Hill.
Mr. Blair was born April 24, 1957 in Nashville. He was the son of James E. Blair Sr. of Waverly and the late Barbara Blair.
Survivors include his wife, Mignon Blair of Spring Hill; sons, Phillip and Emory Blair of Spring Hill; stepchildren, Shana Benoy of Spring Hill and Andy Benoy of Wisconsin; grandmother, Helen M. Randall of Dearborn, Mich.; grandchild, Kelsey Benoy of Spring Hill; brother, David W. Blair of Dickson; sister, Kim Chisholm of Waverly; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Timothy Blair; and grandparents, Mary and Preacher Smith and George Randall.
Mamie Holland Dunnagan
Funeral services for Mrs. Mamie Holland Dunnagan, 87, are 11 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2004 at Dickson Funeral Home with Bro. Warren Medley and Rev. Rob Truitt officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 8 a.m. until time of service. Interment
will follow in Union cemetery.
Mrs. Dunnagan of Burns was born Sept. 13, 1916 in Humphreys County. She died Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at NHC-Dickson. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her sons, Wayne Dunnagan and wife, Claudia of Dickson and Larry Wilson Dunnagan of Burns; daughters, Martha Ann Martin of Dickson and Carole D. Clifton and husband, Milton of Dickson; eight grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward H. and Gertrude Watkins Holland, husband, Alfred T. Dunnagan and granddaughter, Pam D. Siler.
Leona Marie England
Funeral services for Mrs. Leona Marie England, 84, were 2 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2004 from Dickson Funeral Home with Bro. Roy Thompson officiating. Interment
followed in Dickson County Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. England of White Bluff was born Aug. 2, 1919 in Parker County, Texas. She died Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include sons, James Lee Edwards of Sylvia, Norman Edwards and wife, Betty of Dickson and Jackie Edwards and wife, Addie of Racine, Wis.; daughters, Jean Hickman of Dickson, Martha Dugan and husband, James of White Bluff and Mary Swaw and husband, Billy of White Bluff; 22 grandchildren; and 49 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ina James Adcock.
Edwin Whiteman Gramling
Memorial services for Edwin Whiteman Gramling, 67, are 2 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2004 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson with Bro. Bill Webb officiating. His remains were cremated. Visitation with the family will be Friday from 1 p.m. until time of service.
Mr. Gramling, a mechanical engineer, owner and operator of Gramling and Son, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at his home. He was born in St. Augustine, Fla., to Mildred Cox Gramling and the late Napoleon Gramling.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Webb Gramling of Dickson; son, Edwin W. Gramling III of Dickson; daughters, Sam Gramling Gann, Charlie Gramling, Jessica Moen and Jennifer Street, all of Dickson and Julia Deardoff of White Bluff; mother, Mildred Cox Gramling of Live Oak, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Napoleon Gramling.

Dora Mangrum

Mrs. Mangrum of Burns was born April 7, 1920 in Williamson County. She died Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at Horizon Medical Center. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Elton Mangrum of Burns; sons, Robert Lee Mangrum and wife, Nina of Burns and Samuel Leo Mangrum of Fairview; daughter, Dorris Sue Reed and husband, David of Pegram; sisters, Julia Marie Martin of Fairview and Alma Kaiser of Nashville; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sarah Raney Hammon; and son, Larry Mangrum.
Edward Tidwell
Funeral Mass for Edward L. Tidwell, 85, is 11 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2004 from St. Christopher’s Catholic Church in Dickson with Father Stephen Gideon officiating. The remains will then be conveyed to Morenci, Mich., where interment
will be in Oak Grove cemetery in Morenci.
Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson and Eagle Funeral Home in Morenci, Mich., are handling arrangements.
Mr. Tidwell, who was born in Bon Aqua, died Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at Waverly Health Care Center in Waverly. He was a retired C.P.A. with Chrysler Corp. in Detroit and California. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran with rank of sergeant. He was a member of St. Christopher’s Catholic Church in Dickson.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Alice Bonin Tidwell of Dickson; brother, John Howard Tidwell of Prescott, Ariz.; sister, Mary Louise Yager of Perrysburg, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Margaret Yates Tidwell.
Georgia Alberd

Mrs. Alberd of Cumberland Furnace died Sunday, July 25, 2004 in Nashville.
Survivors include her son, Mike Alberd of Cumberland Furnace; and grandchildren, Andy Alberd and Brandon Alberd, both of Cumberland Furnace, and Christen Alberd of Dickson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Lou (Hawk) Alberd and a son, Charles Alberd.
Howard Lindsey Bowman

Mr. Bowman, retired Master Gunnery Sergeant E-9, U.S. Marine Corp. and retired manager trainer for Sears Roebuck Co., died Thursday, July 22, 2004 at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson.
He was a veteran of World War II, Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, member of the Al Menah Shrine Temple, White Bluff Masonic Lodge #676, Shriner Transportation Committee and a former Boy Scout Master. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Pioneer Bible Class.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Barbara Morton Bowman of Dickson; son, Mike Bowman and his wife, Jenny, of Dyersburg; mother, Beadie Bowman of Nottingham, Pa.; brother, Frank Bowman of Nottingham, Pa.; and granddaughter, Melissa Ann Bowman of Dyersburg.
He was preceded in death by his father, Isaac Fairbanks Bowman.

Helen Marie Henry Cates
Mrs. Helen Marie Henry Cates, 81, of Madisonville, Ky., died Sunday, July 25, 2004 at the NHC Nursing Home in Madisonville.
Born November 1, 1922, in Hermitage, she was the daughter of the late Valie and Chloe Peal Henry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Davis Cates, and by an infant brother.
She had been a lab technician for Mid-America Canning and was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Cates of Vanleer; son, Dickson Cates of Madisonville, Ky.; sister, Hazel L. Alcorn of Nashville; brother, Carl W. Henry of Goodlettsville; and grandchildren, Christy Lin Cates and Richard D. “Buddy” Cates II.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 29, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows cemetery in Madisonville, Ky.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 28 from 2 p.m.-8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ed Honeycutt, Chad Goodman, Richard Cates II, Blake Creseay and Charlie Gatlin.

Maggie Lorene Mathis

Mrs. Mathis of Cumberland Furnace was born in Dickson County Oct. 25, 1926. She died Friday, July 23, 2004 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. She was a retired factory worker with Acme Boot Company.
Survivors include her son, Don Mathis of Vanleer; daughters, Myra Wall and husband, James of Charlotte and Pat Curtis and husband, Gerald of Charlotte; sister, Catherine Dale of Clarksville; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Fannie Jones Bishop.
