Beatia Mae Sensing
Funeral services for Mrs. Beatia Mae Sensing, 74, are 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 from the chapel of Spann Funeral Home with Brother Clarence DeLoach officiating. Interment icon will follow in Greenwood cemetery.
Mrs. Sensing died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004.
Survivors include her husband, Robert C. Sensing of Charlotte; three daughters, Diana Wolfe of Knoxville, Renai Corbitt of Charlotte and Melanie Kerns of Dickson; sister; Clarice Owen of Charlotte; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Nellie Gill Batey; and brother, George Ewing Batey Jr.

Robert Thomas Batey
Funeral services for Mr. Robert Thomas Batey, 99, were 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004 from the chapel of Cole & Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville with Bro. Charles Baugh officiating. Interment icon followed in Forest Lawn cemetery.
Mr. Batey of Goodlettsville died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Batey; son, Kenneth (Judy) Batey; daughter, Sharyn Batey; and sister, Olly May Owen of Charlotte.

Loyd Dudley Garton
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 at Garfield Country Church in Kalkaska, Mich., for Loyd Dudley Garton, 74, of Fife Lake, who passed away Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004 at his home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska.
Born June 25, 1930 in Dickson County, Mr. Garton was the son of Lloyd and Gertrude McCoy Garton. He married Etta Beatrice Williams on Jan. 31, 1949 in Hopkinsville, Ky., and owned Silver Braze Inc. in Westland for over 40 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his yard, gardening and his fish pond.
Survivors are his wife, Etta of Fife Lake; three sons, Donald Ray Garton of Spring Hill, Tenn., Phillip E. (Pamela) Garton of Westland and Randal O. (Kathy) Garton of Spring Hill; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Perry D. Garton.
Memorials may be made to Munson Health Care Foundation, Attn: Maggie Curtin, 210 Beaumont St., Traverse City, MI. 49684.

Carl Edwin “Son” Groves
Funeral services for Carl Edwin “Son” Groves, 71, were 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2004 in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson with Bro. James Black officiating. Interment icon followed in Rye’s Chapel cemetery.
Mr. Groves, who was born in Dickson County, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004 at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson.
Survivors include his brother, Ewing Groves of Charlotte; sister, Ruby Bolton of Cumberland Furnace; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Martin “Bud” Groves and Elizabeth Sinks Groves.

Clara Louise Kimbro
Funeral services for Miss Clara Louise Kimbro, 44, were 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2004 from the chapel of Dickson Funeral Home.
Miss Kimbro of Charlotte died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004 at Boulevard Terrace Rehab & Nursing Center in Murfreesboro. She was born July 18, 1960.
Survivors include her parents, M.R. and Shirley Kimbro of Charlotte; and sisters, Tina Litchford of LaVergne, Janice Wilson of White Bluff, Stephanie Kimbro of Charlotte and Sherry Turnbow of Charlotte.

Glenn Aaron Leathers
Funeral services for Mr. Glenn Aaron Leathers, 32, were 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson with Bro. Bill Shouse officiating. Interment icon followed in the Owen Family cemetery in Stayton
Mr. Leathers, a welder formerly at Tennsco, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his parents, Ann and Floyd Leathers Sr. of Nunnelly; daughter, Arin Brooke Leathers of Murfreesboro; and brother, Floyd Leathers Jr. of White Bluff.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Milburn and Lula Mae Leathers and Wilson and Adell Owen.

Lorraine Mitchell
Funeral services for Mrs. Lorraine B. Mitchell, 87, were 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2004 at McDonald Funeral Home in Centerville with Dan White and Ricky Warren officiating. Interment icon followed in Hilltop cemetery in Lyles.
Mrs. Mitchell of Lyles died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004 at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. She was born Feb. 18, 1917 in Cumberland Furnace. She was retired from Levi Strauss and also sold Avon for 40-plus years. She was a member of Wrigley Church of Christ.
Survivors include her sons, John M. Mitchell Jr. of Santa Fe and Michael Mitchell of Dickson; daughter, Mary Lou Howell of Lyles; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Morris Mitchell Sr.; and parents, Gale Benjamin Bentley and Louvenia (Hasley) Bentley.

John Larry Patton
Funeral services for Mr. John Larry Patton, 58, were 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2004 at the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Lowell Roddy officiating. Interment icon followed in Dickson Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Patton, who was born in Charlotte, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004 at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a warehouse manager. He grew up in the Presbyterian faith.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Sullivan Patton of Burns; two daughters, Jennifer Lynn Patton and Dana Suzanne Patton, both of Burns; mother, Elnora Caldwell of Dickson; two stepsisters, Millie Forster of Dickson and Martha Hester of Lobelville; and several other close family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Patton.

Clara Dell Vineyard
Graveside services for Miss Clara Dell Vineyard, 83, were 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2004 at Vineyard cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Dickson Funeral Home.
Miss Vineyard of Dickson died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Ashland City. She was born in Dickson County March 20, 1921. She was a homemaker and factory worker at Henry I. Siegel.
Survivors include her sister, Willie Mills of Nashville; nieces, Ann Mullins and Wayne Carlisle; nephews, Durwood Moore, Doyle Petty and Garner Vineyard; and numerous grand- and great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, W.B. (Bub) and Fannie Nall Vineyard; brothers, Ubert, Larry, True, Ivan and Pat Vineyard; and sisters, Donna Vineyard, Lera Petty and Artie Moore.

Johnny Roscoe Allen
Funeral services for Mr. Johnny Roscoe Allen, 70, are 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, 2004 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson with Brother David Peeler officiating. Interment icon will follow in Mt. Lebanon cemetery near Charlotte.
Mr. Allen, a retired supervisor in maintenance with DuPont, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004 at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. He was a member of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mary Alice Southerland Allen of Dickson; son, Ralph (Kathy) Allen of Charlotte; daughters, Eve (Mike) Larkins of Dickson, Marie (James) Murphy of Nashville and Vivian (Tony) McCord of Dickson; brother, Norris Allen of Dickson; sisters, Avis Estes and Wanda Allen, both of Dickson; nine grandchildren, Jason Ponder, Kathryn Stolfi, Kelly Larkins, Jamie Larkins, Alix McCord, Anthony McCord, Mary Allen, Jeremy Allen and Racheal Allen; four great-grandchildren; and a longtime friend, Nate Underwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Oscar and Margaret Belle Brown Allen; and brother, Raymond Allen.

Agnes Louise Ballard Cavender
Graveside services for Mrs. Agnes Louise Ballard Cavender, 85, were 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004 at Richardson cemetery in Burns. Services were under the direction of Taylor Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cavender died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004 in Angel River Health Center in Evansville, Ind.
Survivors include four sons, James Cavender, Roger Cavender, David (Bridget) Cavender, all of Evansville, Ind., and John Paul (Sally) Cavender of Newburgh, Ind.; five daughters, Chloe (George) Thomas, Margie (Jerry) Pfingston, Anna (Richard) Lepsch and Frances (Mike) Smith, all of Evansville, Ind., and Mary (Richard) Greth of Midland, Texas; one brother, Billy (Flora) Ballard of Wintergreen, Va.; 29 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel Cavender in 1979.

Mattie Elizabeth Granger
Graveside services for Mattie Elizabeth Granger, 87, will be 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2004 at Mt. Zion cemetery in Montgomery County with Brother Randy Franklin officiating. Services are under the direction of Dickson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Granger, born in Dickson County, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004 in Holmes Regional Center in Melbourne, Fla. Mrs. Granger was a member of St. Paul Presbyterian Church in Charlotte.
Survivors include her son, Stan Granger of West Melbourne, Fla.; daughters, Norma Platano and Cheryl Granger, both of Melbourne, Fla.; brothers, Charles D. Osburn of Florida and William Herschell Osburn of Brentwood; sisters, Sara Robinson of Dickson and Imogene Hickerson of Charlotte; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Granger; parents, James Sylvester and Ara Coleman Osburn; brother, James Clifford Osburn; and sister, Mary Elma Purkiser.
