Funeral services for Mrs. Wilma Ruth Burney Burgess, 71, are 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 2004 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson with Brother Jessey Hood officiating. Interment
follows in Dickson Union cemetery.
Mrs. Burgess, born in Dickson County, died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004 at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. She was an Avon representative for 40-plus years. She was a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include her husband, Leonard Burgess of Dickson; sons, Jimmy Burgess of Fairview and Steve Burgess of Dickson; daughters, Wanda Gower of Dickson and Jacqueline Greenberg of Clarksville; sister, Betty Kalani of Clarksville; and seven grandchildren, Janel Carr, Jessica Sullivan, Erica Burgess, Matt Burgess, Brett Dawson, Brittany Dawson and Danielle Greenberg.
Marsha Elizabeth Brown Dunmire
Funeral services for Mrs. Marsha Elizabeth Brown Dunmire, 48, are 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 2004 in Woodlawn Chapel of Roses in Nashville.
A service will also be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004 a the Millwood Church of Christ in Ohio with minister Gene Lilly officiating. Interment
will follow in Workman cemetery in Danville, Ohio. Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is assisting the family with arrangements in Ohio.
Mrs. Dunmire was born July 20, 1956 in Dickson to Melvin and Christine (Gray) Brown. She died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004 at Mt. Carmel West Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She married
Ralph Dunmire Jr. on March 17, 1979. She was a member of Millwood Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph; sons, Ralph III and Bradley Dunmire; parents, Melvin and Christine Brown; sisters, Judy Hughey and Marie Bagsby, both of Nashville, Sheila Gross of Ashland City and Marilyn White of Dickson; nephews, Jeremy Lane, Jason Bagsby, Justin Gross and Jaden Clark; niece, Tricia Clark; father and mother-in-law, Ralph Sr. and Jo Ann Dunmire of Nashville.
Howard B Lewis Sr.
Funeral services for Mr. Howard B Lewis, Sr., 72, were 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004 at Dickson Funeral Home with Bro. Joe McGraw and grandson, Roger Grove officiating. Interment
followed in Lewis cemetery.
Mr. Lewis of Charlotte was born in Dickson County on Dec. 8, 1931. He died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.
Survivors include his wife, Edna R. Lewis of Charlotte; son, Howard “Bubba” Lewis and wife, Niva of Charlotte; daughters, Gail Norvell and husband, Steve of Charlotte, Louise Town and husband, Mike of Joelton, “Cookie” Dimple Brooks and husband, Freddie of Charlotte, Wanda Ferrell and husband, Chuck of Palmyra, Donna Rigsby and husband, Mark of Charlotte and Vickie Biggs and husband, Chris of Joelton; best friends, Pauline and Ben McCutchen; 33 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Cecila Lewis; brothers, Garner “Boots” Lewis and William Lewis; and son, Hubert “Buckshot” Lewis.
Eileen Scott

Mrs. Scott, widow of Clifford Scott, died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004 in Townhall Estates in Alvarado, Texas. A homemaker, she was a member of the Methodist church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a native of Pittsburg, Pa.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Shunk of Alvarado, Texas; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Scott; and parents, Elmer H. Elvira Eastland McGrew.
Jane Carlton
Graveside services for Mrs. Jane B. Carlton, 74, are 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004 at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville. Friends are welcome to join the family in celebrating the life of Mrs. Carlton at Woodlawn Funeral Home from 1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. on Wednesday following the graveside service.
Mrs. Carlton died Oct. 31, 2004. She held numerous offices in NARFE and was a member of Gladstone Church of Christ.
Survivors include her children, Linda D. Hutchins and husband, Ted, David W. Dillard and Muffin; grandchildren, Trent Tucker, Brooke Dillard and Carmen Dillard; sister, Martha McKenzie; and brother, Roy Bush.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Carlton; and grandson, Matt Tucker.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alive Hospice, the Cancer Society or memorials to the family to help fund a marker for the remembrance of Mrs. Carlton.
Norma Rhea Dotson

Mrs. Dotson, a housewife, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. She was co-owner of Paw Paw’s Family Restaurant in White Bluff and school patrol mother for McCann Elementary School in West Nashville. She was a member of Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her husband, Herschel Dotson of White Bluff; daughters, Debbie Brewer of White Bluff and Darlene Rhea of Nashville; brothers, Junior Wicks of Pulaski and Charles Wicks of Nashville; stepsons, Keith, Chris and Scott Dotson, all of White Bluff and Richie Dotson of Burns; stepdaughters, Rhonda Adams, Angela Dawson and Tiffany Dunn of White Bluff and Devonne Cowan of Lexington, Ky.; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Ray Ellsworth Haffner
Graveside services for Mr. Ray Ellsworth “Poppy” Haffner, 71, were 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 2004 at Middle Tennessee Veterans cemetery in Pegram with a U.S. Air Force chaplain officiating. Arrangements were handled by Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson.
Mr. Haffner, a retired U.S. Air Force veteran serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars and a retired employee from Avco Aerostructures, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004 at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 4641.
Survivors include his wife, Janie Graves Hafner of Burns; son, Steve Haffner and his wife, Ruby, of Portsmouth, Ohio; daughters, Carolyn Haffner Goddard of Dickson and Sherry Ware of Gormania, W. Va.; brothers, John Haffner of Minnesota, August Haffner of Kentucky and Gary Haffner of Minnesota; sisters, Florence Raul and Lila Zimney, both of Minnesota; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Alvin and Anna Caroline Thompson Haffner.

Mrs. Holt, born in Thomaston, Ga., and a retired cashier with Super-X Drug Store, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004 in Southern Hills Medical Center. She also worked at the Children’s Home in Spring Hill.
Survivors include her sons, Preston Holt Jr. of Nashville, Harold Lee, Jessie Lee, Jimmy Lee and Charles Lee, all of Alabama; sisters, Ann Stephens, Martha Lee, Katie Lee and Georgia Stephens, all of Alabama.
Tony Lee Matlock
Funeral services for Mr. Tony Lee Matlock, 56, will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004 at Bond Memorial Chapel in Mt. Juliet with Rex Allen, past associate pastor of Fellowship Christian Church, officiating.
Mr. Matlock died Oct. 30, 2004.

Mr. McNeese, a construction worker with insulation companies, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004 at Metro General Hospital in Nashville.

Felts and his wife, Betty of White Bluff; sisters, Pamela K. Kalaiah Ragsdale
Funeral services for Kalaiah Danielle Qing Yu Ragsdale, 4, were 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004 at Christ Central Church in Rainbow City, Ala.
A memorial service will take place at Spann Funeral Home in Dickson on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 11 a.m. with visitation there two hours prior. Burial will follow at Dickson County Memorial Gardens.
Kalaiah of Gadsden, Ala., passed away Friday, Oct. 29, 2004 in Birmingham, Ala. She was a native of China and joined her family on Sept. 19, 2000. She was a member of the East Gadsden United Methodist Church family.
She is survived by her parents, Gary and Zea Ragsdale; sister, Amber Stecher; grandparents, Dwight and Betty Ragsdale; and Aunt Karen, Aunt Susan and Uncle Pete.
WilliamHarold Russell

Mr. Russell, born in Detroit, Mich., and a retired assembly worker with Chrysler Motor Corp, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Smith Russell of Vanleer; son, Yman Russell of Taylor, Mich.; daughters, Alesha Russell of Taylor, Mich., Shawntele Russell of Melvin Dale, Mich., Brittany Russell and Amanda Russell, both of Vanleer; brothers, Tommy Russell Jr. of Vanleer and Wayne Russell of South Pittsburg; sister, Roseann Russell of Vanleer; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Glenn Sr. and Hazel Louise Wurster Russell.

Leslie Ann Shear and Alicia Marie Shear died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004 in Montgomery County. Leslie was a junior at Montgomery Central High School and Alicia was a freshman at Montgomery Central High School.
Survivors include their mother, Laura Denise Parker of Richmond, Va.; father and step-mother, Joseph Allen Shear and Jolene Jeanette Coon Shear of Southside; grandparents, Bill and Frieda Shear of Bon Aqua, Ben and Ann Akin of Ida, Ga., and Dwayne and Marlene Coon of Groton, S.D.; half sister, Mandi Ann Shear of Clarksville; aunt, Vicky Burrow of Bon Aqua; cousins, Trista Tidwell, A.J.
