Brenda Cobb

Graveside services for Miss Brenda Cobb, 47 of Highland Park, Mich., were 1 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2005 at Lampley cemetery with Bro. Fred Mayberry officiating. Dickson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Miss Cobb died Thursday, April 14, 2005 in Detroit, Mich.

Survivors include her mother, Claudia Necker; grandmother, Ann Pirtle; son, Jonathon David Cobb; daughter, Kerrie Cobb; grandson, Gaidge Cobb; brother, Timothy Cobb and his wife, Joy; sisters, Lynda Boeve and Nancy Cobb; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Lila Jean Franklin

Mrs. Lila Jean Franklin, 76, of McEwen died Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. Her remains were cremated. Taylor Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Franklin was a native of Decatur, Ill., and was a retired salesperson for Sears. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Lewis C. Franklin of McEwen; son, David Franklin of Augusta, Ga.; daughter, Barbara Franklin Peterson of Bellevue; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James J. Doolen and Edna E.Holcomb Doolen.

Memorials may be made to Hurricane Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 500 N. Hurricane Creek Rd., McEwen, TN 37101.

Joshua Wayne Gerbert

Funeral services for Joshua Wayne Gerbert, 17, of Cumberland Furnace were 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2005 from the chapel of Sykes Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarksville with Rev. Dr. Lowell Roddy officiating.

Joshua died Saturday, April 23, 2005. He was born in Franklin, N.H.

He was a junior and honor student at Creek Wood High School. He was also a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his parents, Gary W. Gerbert and Beth Cornell Gerbert of Cumberland Furnace; a brother, Ryan Whitehouse of Maryland; a sister, Tasha Schneck of Palmyra; his paternal grandfather, Duane Gerbert of New Hampshire; and his maternal grandmother, Alberta Cornell of Maine.

Memorials can be made to Hospice of Gateway Home Care, 1760 Madison St., Clarksville, TN 37043.

Sadie Mae Johnson

Funeral services for Mrs. Sadie Mae Johnson, 81, of Nashville were 1 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2005 at Woodbine Funeral Home with Rev. Ben McGinnis officiating. Interment icon was in Woodlawn cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson died Friday, April 22, 2005. She was a member of Woodbine Baptist Church and retired from Glenview School.

Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Stearns and her husband, James Lee of Dickson and Gloria Williams and her husband, Daniel of Smyrna; grandchildren, Roy Clayton Stearns Jr., Marsha Hargrove and her husband, Jason, Brian Thomas Williams and his wife, Elizabeth, Christopher Jordan Williams and Daniel Andrew Williams; two great-grandchildren, Joseph Thomas Lyle and Jordan Joelyn Lyle; sister, Delora Carney of Joelton; and many devoted friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Monthford Johnson.

Robert Lester Stringer

Funeral services for Mr. Robert Lester Stringer, 66, of Hickman County were noon Tuesday, April 26, 2005 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson with Brother Fred Mayberry officiating. Interment icon was in Dugan cemetery.

Mr. Stringer died Friday, April 22, 2005 in St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.

He was a painter, a United States Army veteran and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his son, Kerry Stringer and his wife, Bonnie of Fairview; three daughters, Robin Helfant and her husband, Robert of Virginia Beach, Va., Tammy Stringer of Fairview and Robin Stringer Waynick of Fairview; former wife and mother of his children, Marjorie Stringer York of Fairview; brothers, Doris Stringer and his wife, Sara of Winder, Ga., and Charlie Stringer and his wife, Judy of Burns; sisters, Claudine Garton and her husband, Bernice of Dickson, Ruby Ingram and her husband, Bobby, also of Dickson, and Marie Ann Garrett of Dickson; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer, Lisa, Sean, Amanda, C.J., Shae, Stephanie, Kenneth, Jake and Sarah; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Stringer was preceded in death by his parents, John Lawrence (Bunk) and Geraldine Stokes Stringer; and sisters Louise Odom, Berniece Rogers, Edith Moore and Lela Anderson.

James Tummins Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. James “Rooster” Tummins Jr., 74, of McEwen were 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005 at Dickson Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Farris officiating. Interment icon was in Union cemetery.

Mr. Tummins died Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. He was a farmer and bus driver for the Humphreys County school system. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Dickson VFW.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Tummins of McEwen; son, Gregory Tummins and his wife, Janet of McEwen; daughter, Pamela Tummins Madden of Dickson; stepdaughters, Linda Gayle Sutton of McEwen and Robbie Sullivan of Lyles; brother, John W. Tummins of Dickson; three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Stella Gunn Tummins; and sister, Eva Coleman.

John Charles Williams

Funeral services for Mr. John Charles Williams, 74, of Dickson were 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005 from the chapel of Spann Funeral Home with Bro. Warren Medley officiating. Interment icon was in Williams cemetery at White Oak Flatt.

Mr. Williams died Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Willie Lee Williams of Dickson; sons, James Michael Williams of Dickson and Roger Dale Williams of Virginia; daughter, Carol Spann of Charlotte; brother, Toby Martin Williams of Alaska; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

James Paul Baggett

Funeral services for James Paul Baggett, 68, of Cunningham were 2 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005 from McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel in Clarksville with Dr. Ted Denny officiating. Interment icon followed in Hopewell cemetery.

Mr. Baggett died Monday, April 18, 2005 at Baptist Hospital in Nashville. He was retired from the State of Tennessee Highway Department and a member of the Bible Church of the Living God.

Survivors include three sons, James Lee Baggett, Mark Andrew Baggett and John Wayne Baggett, all of Cunningham; one brother John D. Baggett of Cunningham; four sisters, Willabee Jackson of Dickson, Marie Schaffer of Cunningham, Estelle Chappell of Alaska and Betty Dowden of Wisconsin; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cullie and Nora Stella Hayes Baggett; and wife, Gelena Lee Powell Baggett.

Ruby Ileen Porter

Memorial services for Mrs. Ruby Ileen Porter, 91, are 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005 at Pond Presbyterian Church with Bro. Paul Picard officiating. Her remains were cremated. Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the church. Taylor Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Mrs. Porter, a retired machine operator with the former Red Kap Garment Co., died Friday, April 15, 2005 at Dickson Healthcare Center. Born in Marion, Ill., to the late Albert Harrison and Zona M. Caruthers McLerran, she was a member of Pond Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include two sons, Richard E. (Dick) Porter and his wife, Norma of Dickson and Noel Wayne Porter and his wife, Pat of Lawrenceburg; three sisters, Edna Sandys of Toledo, Ohio, Blanche Carver of Red Boiling Springs and Erma Lee Gass of Moss, Tenn.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard R. Porter; son, Donald Porter; and daughters, Glenda Raye Porter and Linda Faye Porter Berard.

Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

James Michael Thompson

James Michael “Mike” Thompson, 42, of Nashville died Saturday, April 16, 2005 at Baptist Hospital in Nashville. His remains were cremated. Arrangements were made by Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson.

Mr. Thompson was born in Ottawa, Ill., on Nov. 28, 1962 to Robert Wesley and Roberta Lorraine Gage Thompson. He was a building maintenance contractor.

Survivors include his father, Robert Thompson of Clarksville; his mother and stepfather, Roberta and Bob Rooks of Grand Ridge, Ill.; grandmother, Aleene Fitzgerald of Ottawa, Ill.; five brothers, Tim Thompson of Bon Aqua, Amnel Thompson and Brad Thompson, both of Nashville, Dan Thompson of Portland and Ron Thompson of Oglesby, Ill.; sister, Janet Gordon of Raleigh, N.C.; several nieces and nephews.

Joyce Dean Travis

Funeral services for Joyce Dean Travis, 75, of Charlotte were 2 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005 from the chapel of Dickson Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Devine officiating. Interment icon followed in Union cemetery.

Mrs. Travis died Tuesday, April 19, 2005 in NHC Center in Dickson.

Survivors include one daughter, Vickie Douglas Dawson of Dickson; one brother, Jack Hafner and his wife, Etha of Dickson; five sisters, Jeanette Owen and her husband, Tom of Donelson, Alice Brake and her husband, Jerry of Lyles, Kathy Bruce and her husband, Larry of Dickson, Linda Williams and her husband, Donald of Charlotte and Mary McGufrey and her husband, Junior of Dickson; grandson, Kevin Cranfield; and great-granddaughter, Alizabeth Cranfield.

Randle West

Funeral services for Randle D. West, 91, are 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson with Rev. George Adair officiating. Interment icon will follow in McElhiney cemetery.

Mr. West died Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at Hickman County Hospital in Centerville. He was born Sept. 9, 1913 to the late George P. and Nancy Stevens West.

He worked for Buckeye Forging Company. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Tennessee City United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Vera E. West of Dickson; two sons, Lloyd H. West of Brunswick, Ohio, and Edward J. West of Dickson; daughter, Marsha F. Davenport of Tennessee City; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Jack Elliott Bouldin

Memorial services for Mr. Jack Bouldin, 77, were 2 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2005 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Robert Cullom officiating. His remains were cremated and were interred in Charlotte cemetery.

Mr. Bouldin, a retired automobile salesman with Mike Jones Chevrolet Company in Dickson, died Thursday, April 14, 2005 at NHC in Dickson. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Kathryn Sensing Bouldin of Charlotte; daughter, Jackie Potter and her husband, Billy of Burns; five grandchildren, Darek Potter and his wife, Keely, Shelley McComas and her husband, Brian, Sharon Potter, Dana Kathryn Carver and her husband, Chuck and Jeremy Bouldin Choate and his wife, Melinda; eight great-grandchildren, Whitnee Carver, Colton Carver, Weston Carver, Kaley McComas, Cade McComas, Maddi McComas, Kinsey Potter and Mason Bouldin Choate.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sue Annelle Bouldin; and parents, Jere Baxter and Eleanor Elliott Bouldin.

Memorials may be made to the Water Street Church of Christ Meals on Wheels program.
