BOBBY E. FORTNER
1936-2007
GREENFIELD - Bobby E. Fortner, 71, died Wednesday, January 31, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Graveside services were held Friday, February 2, at Hornbeak cemetery at 2 p.m.
Mr. Fortner was born January 11, 1936 to the late Roy Samuel Fortner and Ruby Lee Rambo. He worked as a machinist, attended Church of Christ, and served in the National Guard.
Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy Fortner of Greenfield; two sons, Mike Fortner of Springville and Ronnie Fortner of Greenfield; two daughters, Debbie Ezell of Oakland and Pam Griffin of Greenfield; and one sister, Viola Ward of Gleason.

JAMES EDWARD TAYLOR
1960-2007
HENDERSON: James Edward Taylor, 46, formerly of McKenzie, died Sunday, March 18, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were Thursday, March 22, at 11 a.m. at McEvoy Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ronnie Sells and Bro. Boyd Cupples officiating. Burial followed in Bethesda cemetery.
Mr. Taylor was born May 14, 1960 in Henry County. He was manager of Fred's Store in Henderson, member, Sunday school teacher and youth director at Friendship Baptist Church in Henderson. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Edward Taylor.
Survivors include: his wife, Carol Powell Taylor of Henderson; his mother, Donna Fay Hart Taylor of Paris; three daughters, Kaisey Taylor, Haylee Taylor and Madison Taylor, all of Henderson; and one sister, Dorothy Lee "Dottie" (Bobby) Campbell of Paris.

RUBY G. WEATHERFORD
1913-2007
CLARKSBURG - Ruby Frances Goff Weatherford 93, died Tuesday, March 20, at Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were Friday, March 23, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Dilday Funeral Home with Bro. Phillip Halter officiating. Burial followed in Beech River cemetery.
Mrs. Weatherford was born May 19, 1913 in Henderson County to the late Ruben W. and Nannie Jane Jones Goff. She was a homemaker and attended the County Line Missionary Baptist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alton E. Weatherford, and two sisters, Ora Stewart, of Memphis and Zona Schoof of Oroville, California.
Survivors include: four daughters, Faye (Bill) Morris of Jackson, Dorothy (Landis) Wilkes of Savannah, Ruth Hopper of Camden, and Charlotte (Tony) Tucker of Huntingdon; two sons, Charles (Sharon) Weatherford of Clarksburg and Jim (Laura) Weatherford of Jackson; one sister, Flora Lucille Northcutt of Lexington; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

JAMES H. COOPER
1925-2007
HOLLOW ROCK - James H. Cooper, 81, died Tuesday, March 20, at Life Care Center in Bruceton. Funeral services were Thursday, March 22, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Dilday Funeral Home with Bro. Tony Boyd officiating. Burial followed in Barren Springs cemetery.
Mr. Cooper was born June 4, 1925 in Carroll County to the late Willie Ethridge and Ophia Frances Crews Cooper. He was a retired employee of DuPont, a member of the Barren Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a 32nd Degree Master Mason. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Cooper.
Survivors include: his wife, Brooxie Cooper; five sons, Larry Cooper of Memphis, Mike Cooper, Ed Cooper, Tim Cooper, and Stan Cooper, all of Camden; two sisters, Kathlene Benton of Johnson City, and Willene Cooper of Memphis; and one brother, Billy Cooper of Jackson.

Gertrude Brooxie Sanders
1917- 2007
HUNTINGDON - Gertrude Brooxie Sanders, 89, died Monday, March 19, at Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were Wednesday, March 21, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Dilday Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Davis officiating. Burial followed in Bethlehem cemetery.
Mrs. Sanders was born September 20, 1917 in Carroll County to the late Arvil and Gertrude Thompson Bennett. Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Sanders; three brothers, Lloyd Bennett, Franklin Bennett, and Roy Bennett; and two sisters, Delora Dalebout and Lilly Hicks.
Survivors include: one daughter, Nancy (Ralph) Wise of Selmer; one son, James (Josie) Sanders of Granbury, Texas; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

ROBERT JAY HILDEBRAND
1925-2007
McKENZIE - Robert Jay Hildebrand, 81, died Thursday, March 22. Funeral services were Monday, March 26, 2:00 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home, McKenzie with Gary Burke officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Hildebrand was born June 10, 1925 to Christan Hildebrand and Hattie Johnson Hildebrand, both deceased. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his spouse, Vera LaVonne Hildebrand.
Survivors include: three sons, Michael Hightower and John Hightower, both of McKenzie, and David Hightower of Severn, Maryland; three daughters, Robin Thomas of McKenzie, Marla J. Penice of Eugene, Oregon, and Marilyn Lee of Jacksonville, Florida; one brother, John Hildebrand of Rock Fall, Illinois; two sisters, Virginia Hinrichs of McKenzie and Helen Hartman of Round Lake Beach, Illinois; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

ERNESTINE MITCHELL WILLIAMS
1924-2007
HUNTINGDON - Ernestine Mitchell Williams, 82, died Thursday, March 22, at Life Care Center in Bruceton. Funeral services were Saturday, March 24, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Cooper officiating. Burial followed in Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Williams was born October 27, 1924 in Carroll County to the late John Henry Mitchell and Margaret (Orr) Mitchell. She was a retired bank teller for Bank of Huntingdon, also worked as a phone operator for South Central Bell, and was a member of Huntingdon First United Methodist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Howard Williams, Jr.
Survivors include: one son, Ted (Ann) Williams of Coppell, Texas; and one sister, John Helen Mitchell of Bruceton; and three grandchildren.

KENNETH W. OSBORNE
1961-2007
McKENZIE - Kenneth W. Osborne, 45, died Saturday, March 24, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Funeral services were Tuesday, March 27, at 2:00 p.m. at McKenzie Funeral Home with Wray Forrest officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Osborne, a truck driver, was born March 27, 1961 in Chicago, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Osborne.
He and wife, Clara, died in a motorcycle accident. Joint funeral services were held.
Survivors include: his mother, Jennette Ruiz; two daughters, Rachel (Paul) Murphy and April (William) Ivy, both of McKenzie; one sister, Debbie Brandenberg of Kentucky; two brothers, Keith Osborne and Terry Osborne, both of Kentucky; and two grandchildren, A.J. Murphy, 3, and Hannah Ivy, 18 months. Memorials may be made to March of Dimes.

DARLENE MARIE RYTI
1957-2008
HUNTINGDON - Darlene Marie Ryti, 50, died Sunday, July 6, at her home. The family has chosen cremation with no visitation.
Ms. Ryti was born December 10, 1957 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late Lesie Ryti and Betty (Wurzbragur) Ryti. She was a sales clerk for a travel agency. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dale Ryti.
Survivors include: one daughter, Ashley Nicole Smith; two sons, Jeffery Lloyd Smith and Jimmy (Amanda) Smith, both of Huntingdon; one sister, Patty Ryti of Missouri; and two grandsons.
Chase Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MARY SUE SMITH
1951-2008
MILAN - Mary Sue Smith, 56, died Thursday, July 3, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were Saturday, July 5, at 12 noon at Chase Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Dunlap officiating. Burial followed in Little Grove cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born September 16, 1951 in Lavinia. She was a retired seamstress for S & S Garment Company and a member of New Life Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Collier Hale; and one son, Larry Dean Smith.
Survivors include: her mother, Mary Lee Hale of Milan; two sisters, Theresa (Neal) Donald of Huntingdon and Denise (Ron) Scott of Milan; one brother, James David (Joyce) Hale of Atwood; and one grandson.

CLARA MAE BELL HASTINGS
1922-2008
McKENZIE - Clara Mae Bell Hastings, 85, died Saturday, July 5, at McKenzie Health Care Center. Funeral services are Wednesday July 9, at 11 a.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home, McKenzie with burial in Liberty UMC cemetery, McKenzie.
Mrs. Hastings was born September 22, 1922 to the late Murray V. and Ollie Millie Pryor Bell. She was a homemaker. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Otis Hastings and one grandson.
Survivors include: two daughters, Gladys (Joe) Patterson of McKenzie and Janice Hope Davis of Portales, New Mexico; two sons, James Hastings and Robert Earl Hastings, both of McKenzie; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin Tuesday, July 8 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday morning 9:30 a.m. until service time.

BOBBY J. BARKER
1937-2008
McKENZIE - Bobby J. Barker, 70, died Sunday, July 6, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Funeral services were Tuesday, July 8, at 11 a.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home, McKenzie with burial in Union Academy cemetery, McKenzie.
Mr. Barker was born November 28, 1937 to the late Looney M. Barker and Birtie Lena Belew Barker. He was a retired machinist for HIS in Bruceton. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three uncles and one aunt, Russell Belew and his wife Lela Mae, Raymond Belew and Virgil Harrison.
Survivors include: his wife, Frances Gilliam Barker; one son, Kenny Barker of McKenzie; one stepson, Steve (Gayle) Ross of Wildersville; one stepdaughter, Kim (James) Boyd of Yuma; two step-grandchildren, Blake Ross and Lindsay Hart; two step-great-grandchildren, Alexis Hart and Aubrey Hart; and two aunts, Rebecca Harrison of McKenzie and LaVerne Belew of Trezevant.

CAROL JO ESCH HILLIARD
1951-2008
McKENZIE - Carol Jo Esch Hilliard, 57, died Tuesday, July 1, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. The family has chosen cremation and there will be a memorial service announced at a later date.
Ms. Hilliard was born February 19, 1951 to the late William Thomas and Carolyn Sue Rochelle Esch. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother,William Earl Esch.
Survivors include: one daughter, Stacey Renee` Hilliard of McKenzie; one son, Michael Blackard of Mt. Carroll, Illinois; one brother, Jerry Esch of McKenzie; five grandchildren, Elijah Hilliard, Allison Blackard, Tiffani Blackard, Elizabeth Blackard and Brandon Blackard.
Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

ERMA LEE NOLEN
1926-2008
McKENZIE - Erma Lee Nolen, 81, died Sunday, June 29, at Henry County Medical Center. Funeral services were Sunday, July 6, at 2 p.m. at Greater Enon Baptist Church with burial in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mrs. Nolen was born December 22, 1926 in McKenzie to the late Mary Haynes Allen and Jerry Allen. She was educated in the Carroll County school system. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Nolen; one daughter, Shelia Nolen; one brother, George Nolen; one sister, Lonnie Dinwiddie; and one grandson, Howard Nolen.
Survivors include: her children, John Nolen of McKenzie, Mary Ann (Rev. Sherman) Dalton of Gary, Indiana, Rev. George (Gloria) Nolen of McKenzie, Linda (John) Holloway of California, Velma Caster of McKenzie, Lina (Aaron) McClerkin of Huntingdon, and Tammie House of St. Louis, Missouri; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Trinity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
