RUBY N. JONES
1916 - 2008
LAVINIA - Ruby N. Jones, 91, died Saturday, February 2, at her daughter's home. Funeral services were Monday, February 4, at 1 p.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Beecham officiating. Burial followed in Hickory Flat cemetery.
Ms. Jones was born October 3, 1916 in Henderson County to the late John Riley Neisler and Lou Eller Elizabeth (Massey) Neisler. She was a homemaker and was Baptist by belief. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Ray Jones; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Survivors include: seven daughters, Virginia Coleman of Lexington, Hazel Thornton of Corinth, Mississippi, Dorothy Holladay of Huntingdon, Nell (Willie) McClearen and Evelyn (Mack) Jones, both of Cedar Grove, Marie McBroom of Booneville, Sue (Ron) West of Lavinia; one son, Wayne (Frances) Jones of Humboldt; 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

MADELYN PAIGE BEAMON
2001-2008
HUNTINGDON - Madelyn Paige Beamon, 6, died Saturday, February 2. Visitation was held on Monday, February 4, at Sycamore View Church of Christ in Memphis from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., with a life celebration service following immediately at 6 p.m. Visitation on Tuesday, February 5, will be held at Chase Funeral Home in Huntingdon from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. On February 6, visitation will be held at Chase from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with a procession to Sellers Hill cemetery to follow immediately.
Madelyn was born December 17, 2001. On January 29, 2004, at age 2, she was diagnosed with stage IV Neuroblastoma. On February 2, 2004 she began her journey being treated for cancer under the loving and excellent care of the doctors and staff at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis. For four years, Madelyn battled cancer with a smile on her face and hope in her heart. She continues to be a source of hope to many.
Survivors include: her parents, Brandi Dawn and Neal Jesse Beamon; her brother, Tyler Preston Giffen; her baby sister, Ella Madison Beamon; her grandparents, Sherry (Pierce) Young, Terry Poucher, and John and Katherine (Williams) Beamon; her great-grandparents, J.C. and Shelby (Peak) Pierce, and Rachel (Morgan) Williams; as well as four aunts, four uncles and 10 cousins.
In lieu of flowers, please send tax-deductible donations in honor of Madelyn Beamon to Habitat for Hope, 2041 Locke-Cuba Rd, Millington, TN 38053.

JIMMY LEE MAYO
1949 - 2008
HUNTINGDON - Jimmy Lee Mayo, 58, died Wednesday, January 30, at the VA Hospital in Memphis. Funeral services were Saturday, February 2, at 10 a.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Mike Walker and Phillip Welch officiating. Burial followed in McLemoresville cemetery.
Mr. Mayo was born June 1, 1949 in Morgan County to the late Hollis Bennett Mayo and Mamie Lee (Bunch) Mayo. He served 10 years in the Army and was a self-employed carpenter.
Survivors include: his companion, Muriel Walker of Huntingdon; four sisters, Gladys Chaney and Alice Coleman, both of Huntingdon, Clara Smith of Atwood, Gina Gregory of Camden; and five brothers, George Mayo, Jerry Mayo, John Mayo, all of Huntingdon, Sam Mayo of Michigan City, Indiana, and James Mayo of Camden.

DOSHIE L. HAYES
1911-2008
McKENZIE - Doshie L. Hays, 96, died Sunday, February 3, at Oak Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services were Tuesday, February 5, at 2 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home, McKenzie.
Mrs. Hays was born December 1, 1911 in Parsons to the late Lonzo and Martha Ann Carrington Dailey. She was a homemaker and was Baptist in faith. Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Oliver Hays; one sister, Ethel Hays; and two brothers, Ollie and John Dailey.
Survivors include: one daughter, Martha (Robert) Galey of Greenfield.

JOAN BATES
1932-2008
GREENFIELD - Joan Bates, 75, died Sunday, February 3. Funeral services are Wednesday, February 6, at 2 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home with Brent Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Pilgrims Rest cemetery.
Mrs. Bates was born April 12, 1932 in Greenfield to the late Aubrey Raines and Selma Gilliam Raines. She worked as a cook and factory worker.
Survivors include: one brother, Alvin Gilliam Raines of Kent, Washington.

WILLIAM EDDIE CARDEN
1946-2008
UNION CITY - William Eddie Carden, 61, formerly of McKenzie, died Wednesday, January 30, at Union City Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services were Saturday, February 2, at 11 a.m. at White-Ranson Funeral Home with the Rev. Drew Henry officiating. Graveside services were at 1:30 p.m. at Mount Pleasant cemetery near Ripley.
Mr. Carden was born June 22, 1946 in Milan to the late Carl Franklin Carden and the late Ina Bell (Compton) Carden Bannister. He was president of Kirkland Financial and had been vice president of the former Farmers Exchange Bank and president of the former First American Bank in Union City. He was also a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served in Japan during the Vietnam War. A member of Union City First Baptist Church, he was a member of Ripley Masonic Lodge No. 630 and of the Scottish Rite and Shriners. He was a life-time member of the American Legion. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Marjorie (Carden) Gates; and his stepfather, Brooks Edward Bannister.
Survivors include: his wife, Bette Lee Morris Carden; one daughter, Elisabeth Lee (Ian) Martin of Nashville; one sister, Martha (Carden) Gilchrist of Sevierville; one stepsister, Diane (Bannister) Carter of Camden; and one grandson.

Bettie Jane Lee
1935-2004
McKENZIE - Services for Bettie Jane Lee, 70, were at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 21, at LeDon Chapel, Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris, with the Rev. John Coleman officiating. Burial was in Chapel Hill Methodist Church cemetery in Huntingdon.
Mrs. Lee, a former employee of Wilker Brothers and a homemaker, died Friday, February 18, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
She was born February 16, 1935, in Lake County, to the late Eules Grant Coleman and Georgia Bell Lowe Coleman. She was a member of Chapel Hill Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Lewis Lee, Jr.; a daughter, Pamela Evans of McKenzie; a brother, William Coleman of Huntingdon; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Clarcie Marie Coleman.

AGNES C. HODGSON
1914-2008
HUNTINGDON - Agnes C. Hodgson, 93, died Monday, January 21, at Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center . Funeral services were Wednesday, January 23, at 1 p.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Ernest Pounds officiating. Burial followed in Obion Chapel cemetery.
Mrs. Hodgson was born November 27, 1914 to the late George Fletcher and Eula Mae (Lifsey) Fletcher. She was a retired machine operator for H.I.S. and a member of Obion Chapel Church of Christ. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ophelia Fletcher and Edna Curtis.
Survivors include: one daughter, Joyce (Carl) Jackson of Huntingdon; one stepdaughter, Peggy Hopper of Huntingdon; three stepsons, Jim Hodgson of Michigan, Tom Hodgson of Trezevant, and Dan Hodgson of Dover; three sisters, Beatrice Bullington and Nevalee Sutton, both of Huntingdon, and Willodean Kelly of Collegedale; one brother, Woodall Fletcher of Huntingdon; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

JOSEPH ANTHONY CAVERA, SR.
1942-2007
YUMA - Joseph Anthony Cavera Sr., 66, died Monday, January 21, at his home. Memorial services were Wednesday, January 23, at 4:30 p.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Garry Benning officiating.
Mr. Cavera was born January 2, 1942 in Chicago , Illinois to the late Charles Cavera and Mary (Hedinger) Cavera. He was a truck driver for Hadwig Trucking and a member of the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Lexington. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Cavera.
Survivors include: his wife of 47 years, Christine Cavera; two daughters, Brenda (Richard) Conroy of Lexington and Linda (Stanley) Durrenberger of Yuma; two sons, Charles Roy Cavera, and Nicholas M. (Portia) Cavera, both of Chicago, Illinois; one sister, Margaret (Richard) Bowman of Yuma; two brothers, Nick (Jackie) Cavera of Minonk, Illinois and Charles Cavera, Jr. of California; ten grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

RICHARD NED HERR
1934-2008
GLEASON - Richard Ned Herr, 73, died Friday, January 11, at Regional Hospital of Jackson. Graveside services were Wednesday, January 16, at 11 a.m. at Beech Springs cemetery near Gleason with Rev. Gene Price officiating.
Mr. Herr was born August 25, 1934 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Ronald and Ruth Bender Herr. He was a factory worker and veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include: one son, Thomas Herr of Gleason; two daughters, Charlotte Gabbard and Beverly Herr; one brother, Jerry Herr; two sisters, Louise Jones and Dotti Foss; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Gallimore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

ALEENE DEPRIEST
1919-2008
HUNTINGDON - Aleene DePriest, 88, formerly of Maryville, died Monday, January 21, at Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were Saturday, January 26, at 11 a.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Larry DePriest officiating. Burial followed in Bethlehem cemetery.
Mrs. DePriest was born July 14, 1919 in Gibson County to the late Vollan Sir Cratus Rowe and Crellar (Rogers) Rowe. She was a homemaker and a member of Enon Baptist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Albert DePriest; two brothers, Wilburn Rowe and Wendell Rowe; and four sisters, Ruth Smith, Ruby Lowe, Willodean Rowe, and Rauline Pippen.
Survivors include: one daughter, Jannie Ruth (Kenneth) Cable of Maryville; two sons, Billy J. (Lurene) DePriest of Huntingdon and Albert Adrain (Judy) DePriest of Austin Town, Ohio; two sisters, Verlie Faye Hamm and Willie May Cook, both of Nashville; one brother, Fred C. Rowe of Nashville; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

JAMES P. MAYO
1918-2008
McKENZIE - James P Mayo, 90, died Wednesday, January 23, at McKenzie Health Care. Graveside services were Friday, January 25, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olivet cemetery, McKenzie.
Mr. Mayo, was born January 19, 1918, in Lexington to the late James Hollis and Millie Jane Neisler Mayo. He was a grocery merchant and farmer. Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lillie Belle Johnson; and one brother, William Elbert Mayo.
Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy Bannister Mayo of McKenzie; one daughter, Barbara Fitzgerald of McKenzie; one son, Harold (Kay) Mayo of McKenzie; and two sisters, Lula Mae Holmes of Huntingdon and Lucille Woods of Gleason.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's foundation.
Brummitt Funeral Home, McKenzie was in charge of the services.

JAMES EARL HILLIARD
1926-2008
HUNTINGDON - James Earl Hilliard, 81, died Saturday, January 26, at Life Care Center in Bruceton. Funeral services were Monday, January 28, at 3 p.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Bro. George Hill and Bro. Fred Ward officiating. Burial followed in New Crossroads cemetery.
Mr. Hilliard was born May 5, 1926 to the late William Aaron Hilliard and Lucille (Holladay) Hilliard. He was a carpenter, a member of Huntingdon First Baptist Church and a World War II Army veteran. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Rich Hilliard; two brothers, Dilliard Hilliard and Joe Hilliard; and one sister, Patsy Gourley.
Survivors include: three daughters, Phyllis (Bobby) Smith and Denise (Gale) Pendergrass, both of Huntingdon, and Tami (Lee) Lancaster of Bartlett; two sisters, Kate Jerden of Memphis and June Brown of Cedar Grove; one brother, R. C. Hilliard of Huntingdon; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

GUYNETH ALINE MANN
1929 - 2008
HUNTINGDON - Guyneth Aline Mann, 78, died Wednesday, January 23, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were Friday, January 25, at 2 p.m. at First Pentecostal Church with Bro. James Brooks and Bro. John Columbus officiating. Burial followed at Palmer Shelter cemetery.
Ms. Mann was born July 16, 1929 in Carroll County to the late William Otha Mann and Oma Lee (Weaver) Mann. She was a nurse's aide for Carroll County Hospital and a member of First Pentecostal Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Simmons; and one brother, Carl Mann.
Survivors include: two sisters, Gladys Mann of Huntingdon and Ann (Wesley) Hopper of Hollow Rock; one brother, LeRoy Mann of Huntingdon; and several nieces and nephews.
