TREZEVANT - William Edward Chapter, 64, died Tuesday, February 27. Funeral services were Saturday, March 3, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Trezevant with burial in Mt. Ararat cemetery.
Mr. Chapter was born January 5, 1943 to the late Arzell Chapple and Mary Agnes Smith. He attended school in Carroll County and graduated from Webb High School in 1961. He worked for Ford Motor Company for 30 years.
Survivors include: his wife, Faye Chapter; four brothers, Frankie (Joann), Eddie (Linda), Robert Jr., and Ricky Scates; five sisters, Mattie (Charles) Lyons, Richelle (Tony) Jones, Venus (Billy) Lewis, Lavonda Wood, Ann (Landon) Walker, and Arzetta (Dwight) Dearmand; his step-mother, Dorthy Chapple; and three step-daughters, Lisa Bowler, Yolanda Fowler, and Latoya (Terry) Stone.

DR. A.D. "PETE" MARSHALL
1928-2006
HUNTINGDON - Dr. A.D. "Pete" Marshall, 78, of Huntingdon, died Tuesday, December 19, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 22, at the First Presbyterian Church in Huntingdon with Rev. Roger Patton, Jr. officiating. Burial followed in the McLemoresville cemetery.
Dr. Marshall, son of the late John Abbott Marshall and Mary Waynie (Woodall) Marshall, was born on November 20, 1928, in McLemoresville. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Huntingdon for 41 years, served as an elder of the church, a master of the Huntingdon Lodge #106, 32nd degree Scottish Rite, and was a World War II Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Russell.
He practiced general dentistry in Carroll County since July of 1955. He originally started his practice in Trezevant, but moved it to Huntingdon in 1957. He received his predental education from the University of Memphis and earned his D.D.S. degree from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, where he was a member of the Zi Psi Phi dental fraternity. He was a member of the Tennessee Dental Association (received the annual fellowship award in 1999), American Dental Association, Tennessee Dental Forensic Team, served as president of the Seventh District Dental Society, and served 10 years as a board member for the Delta Dental Insurance Plan of Tennessee.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jo Anne (Griffin) Marshall, a daughter, Lea Ann (Kenny) Scates of Bruceton; a son, Mark (Mignon) Marshall of McKenzie; two granddaughters; a great niece; and three great-nephews.
LOUIS FRANKLIN GRAVES

LAVINIA - Mr. Louis Franklin Graves, 63, of Lavinia, Tennessee passed away Saturday, December 23, at his home.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, December 27, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment
followed in the Zion cemetery with full military honors. Bro. Kevin Gallimore officiated the service.
Mr. Graves was born October 5, 1943 to the late Lynch Franklin Graves and Vera Louise (Keeton) Graves. He was a mechanic for the National Guard at the Lavinia Shop, served two years in the Army and thirty-three years in the National Guard, and was a member of the Christ Chapel Church in Atwood. He was also preceded in death by one son, Louis Graves, who died September 13, 1986.
He is survived by his wife, whom he married
June 6, 1987, Gloria Gene Graves, two daughters, Cassandra (Jimmy) Edmaiston of Trenton and Jennifer (Marc) Turner of McKenzie, two step-daughters, Lori (Mike) Powell and Jennifer (Rusty) Conway both of Trezevant, three step-sons, Kenneth (Betty) Hilliard of Milan; Doug (Sheila) Hilliard and Mike (Jada) Hilliard both of Huntingdon, four brothers, Jerry Graves; Raymond Graves; Doyle Graves all of Milan, and Johnny Graves of Lexington and one sister, Martha Nell McKelvy of Humboldt. He also leaves fifteen grandchildren and one great grandson.
DANNY RAY MELTON

WILDERSVILLE - Mr. Danny Ray Melton, 48, of Wildersville passed away Saturday, December 23, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
Funeral Services were conducted on Thursday, December 28, at 2:00 p.m. at the Parker's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Interment
followed in the Pritchard cemetery. Rev. Charles Clark officiated the service.
Mr. Martin was born on February 14, 1958 to Bill and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Melton, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were three brothers; Joe Wesley Melton, Billy Ray Melton and Bobby Staten and two sisters; Dorothy McKinney and Jewel Menzies. He was a faithful member of Parker's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
He leaves his wife, Inell Melton; three stepsons, David Rivers and Damecio Rivers of Wildersville and Marvin (Sheronda) Rivers of Jackson; five sisters, Sarah Melton of Huntingdon, Patricia (Leon) Seats of Cedar Grove, Alice Melton of Lexington, Bobbie Jean (George) Puckett of Henry and Marilyn Buckley of Wildersville; seven brothers, Thomas Melton, Jimmy (Daisy) Melton, Roger Lyn Melton and Joe Stanten, all of Huntingdon, Ellis Ray Melton and Paul (Lula Mae) Melton, both of Wildersville and Roger Dale (Linda) Melton of Champagne, Illinois; ten sisters-in-law; nine brothers-in-law, two step grand children and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
JOHNNY L.J. GRIFFIN

BRADFORD: Johnny L.J. Griffin, 84, died Sunday, December 24, at Milan General Hospital. Funeral services were Wednesday, December 27, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Hunt Funeral Home in Bradford with Frank Webb officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Pisgah cemetery.
Mr. Griffin was born January 28, 1922 to the late James L. Griffin and Dicle L. Notgrass Griffin. He was a production worker at the Milan Arsenal.
Survivors include: his wife, Glora Dell Connell Griffin of Bradford; one daughter, Glenda Maupin of Trezevant; two sons, Johnnie B. Griffin and James E. Griffin, both of Bradford; one brother, Billy Joe Davis of Trezevant; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
MABEL HUDSON MOORE

BRUCETON - Mabel Hudson Moore, 92, died Monday, December 25, at Life Care in Bruceton. Funeral services were Wednesday, December 27, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Bruceton Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Davis officiating. Burial followed in New Prospect cemetery near Hollow Rock.
Mrs. Moore was born June 25, 1914 in Camden to the late Grover Cleveland Hudson and Era Beatrice Hartley Hudson. She was a housewife and a member of Hollow Rock Methodist Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Horace Moore; two sisters, Lillian Mintz and Loretta Wade; and one brother, Lionel Hudson.
Survivors include: one son, Bobby (Carol) Moore of Bruceton; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
RALPH "FRIDAY" LOGAN

McKENZIE - Ralph "Friday" Logan, 82, died Monday, December 25, at his residence. Funeral services were Wednesday, December 27, at 2 p.m. at McKenzie Funeral Home with Bro. Howell Gossett officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Logan was born October 7, 1924 in Gibson to the late James and Rebecca Thompson Logan. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Edna Logan of McKenzie; one son, Larry Logan of McKenzie; and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life for Carroll North.
EMERLINE MORRIS

McKENZIE - Emerline Morris, 77, died Monday, December 25, at Imperial Manor Convalesce in Hermitage. Funeral services were Wednesday, December 27, at 2 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie with Bro. Gary Smithson officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mrs. Morris was born September 2, 1929 in McKenzie to the late Murray Lee Cooper and Ivie Pearl Hudgins. She was a member of First Baptist Church in McKenzie. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eulon Markus Morris and two sons, Wayne and Lloyd Morris.
Survivors include: one daughter, Sandra Morris of Hermitage; two brothers, Charles Cooper of McKenzie and Joe David Cooper of Schererville, IN; one sister, Dorothy Turney of Merritt Island, FL; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
PAULINE "POLLY" SELLERS KIRBY

HUNTINGDON - Pauline "Polly" Sellers Kirby, 91, died Saturday, December 23 at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Graveside funeral services were conducted Wednesday, December 27 at Obion Chapel cemetery. Brother Dan Winkler officiated the service. Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Kirby was born September 23, 1915 in Missouri to the late Lester and Stell Wood Sellers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lewis Kirby, her step-mother, Grace Sellers, two brothers, Jimmy Sellers, Jerry Mac Sellers, a great granddaughter, Jennifer Brooks and a son-in-law, Bob Brooks. She was a member of the Obion Church of Christ and a nurse for the Browning family.
She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth K. Brooks of Huntingdon; one son, Robert S. (Becky) Karr of Germantown; two sisters, Jane Nelson of Cedar Grove and Joe (J.D.) Kirby of Cedar Grove; four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
JAMES GLYNN PURVIS
1932-2006
LANSING, MICHIGAN: Glynn Purvis, 74, died Monday, December 18 at Helen Purvis' home in Mason, Michigan, after a three year battle with cancer.
Funeral services were Thursday, December 21 at Bethany Baptist Church in Lansing, Michigan by Pastor Richard H. Rogers and Bro. James Hixson. Graveside services were at Deep Dale Memorial Gardens in Lansing with full military honors. Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Purvis was born October 8, 1932 to the late Barney and Susie (Brown) Purvis, near Trezevant. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lloyd and Billy Joe Purvis, and one sister, Dorothy Imogene Woodall. He attended Argo (Cross-Eye, Rural Grade) School in the late 1930's and early 1940's. He served his country for three years with the Army, in Europe during the mid 1950's as a medical supply technician. He returned home and married
Helen Boothe from Gleason. He worked in various grocery stores before moving to Mason, Michigan. There he worked as a Butcher working his way up to Meat Supervisor over several stores. He retired in 1994 from L&L Food Centers and started his own successful lawn care and landscaping business working until a few weeks before his death. Mr. Purvis was active in his church, serving as choir and music director and deacon at Bethany Baptist Church.
Surviving is his wife Helen D. Purvis, a daughter, Teresa (Michael) Chase; one son, James Donald (Helen C.) Purvis; one granddaughter Taylor Chase; two step-daughters, Jennie Horton and Lisa Snell, all of Lansing, Michigan; foster daughter, Deborah Whitaker of Nashville; sister, Mildred Smith of Chicago, Illinois; two brothers, Leo Purvis of McKenzie and Jimmy Le Purvis of Dyersburg.
RUTH E. HEATH
1908-2006
MURRAY, KY - Ruth E. Heath, 98, formerly of McKenzie, died Saturday, December 30, at Spring Creek Nursing Home in Murray, KY. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 3, at 11 a.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie with Dr. Bill Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell cemetery in Gleason.
Mrs. Heath was born November 10, 1908 in Gleason to the late Allen Rucker and Eva Holt Heath. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in McKenzie. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest (Jiggs) Heath.
Survivors include: two sons, Donald (Anita) Heath of Murray, KY and Douglas (Kathy) Heath of South Lake, TX; one daughter, Ruth Anne (Lester) Bingaman of McCall, IN; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
ERDIE RUTH PRATHER

HUNTINGDON - Erdie Ruth Prather, 85, died Saturday, December 30, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were Monday, January 1, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Fred Ward officiating. Burial followed in Hampton cemetery.
Mrs. Prather was born June 14, 1921 in Carroll County to the late John Milburn Hill and Vinnie Pearl (Williams) Hill. She was a retired factory worker for Henry I. Siegel Company and was a member of Concord Missionary Baptist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Prather; one daughter, Shirley Garner; four brothers, Richard Hill, Woodrow Hill, J.R. Hill, and Ray Hill; three sisters, Nora Joyner, Marie Hill, and Eddie Lou Hill; and one step-son, James C. Prater.
Survivors include: one daughter, Wanda (Ronald) Joyner of Clarksburg; three grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and two step-grandsons.
GENEVA WINBUSH
JACKSON - Marjorie Geneva Winbush, age 89, died December 23, in the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were Saturday, December 30, at Arrington Funeral Directors with Brian Stewart officiating. Burial was in Lebanon cemetery in Northeast Madison County.
She was a native of Carroll County, born to the late Claude M. and Lessie Maness Fincher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Winbush and a son, Barry.
Survivors include: a son, Randy Winbush of Jackson; a daughter, Beverly Elder of Beech Bluff; a brother, Murrie Fincher of Wichita, Kansas; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.
